Build rollup-risk, a small open-source TypeScript library and command-line tool that scores how trust-minimized an Ethereum rollup is from L2BEAT-style facts.

The input is a JSON file listing rollups, each with: its L2BEAT stage (0, 1 or 2), its proof system (fraud proofs, validity proofs, or none live), whether proving is permissionless, its exit window in days, who can upgrade it (a security council with its threshold, a multisig, or one key), where it posts data (Ethereum blobs, calldata, or an outside data-availability layer), and whether users can force a transaction in if the sequencer censors them.

The library validates that input, gives a clear error for each bad field, scores each rollup from 0 to 100 with a breakdown of points per factor and the reason for each, and ranks them. The tool reads the JSON file and prints a ranked table, or JSON with a flag.

Requirements: no dependencies at all; TypeScript run directly by Node 24's built-in type stripping, with no build step; tests with node:test covering the validator, every scoring factor, the ranking and the tool's output, all passing; a README with the scoring method, an example input with six well-known rollups, and the example's output; an MIT license.

Plan the repository's layout first so later work fits it, then build the parts in parallel where they do not touch the same files.

Episode 1: read the three supplied inputs. Empty initial state: trunk=null, no batches, results, requester notes or refusals; 20 item slots and 6 episodes total. This decision spends 2 items: one code foundation and one public-facts research item. No implementation or research has landed yet; finish=false. Goal: a zero-dependency TypeScript library/CLI run directly by Node 24, validation with all field errors, explained 0..100 scores, deterministic ranking, table/JSON CLI, node:test coverage, README/scoring method, six-rollup example plus output, MIT. Do not add a build, TypeScript compiler, runtime/dev dependencies, or submodules. Code configuration becomes immutable after the first trunk wave, so the foundation must supply all needed package configuration now. Chosen layout: package.json; LICENSE; docs/architecture.md; src/types.ts, src/validate.ts, src/score.ts, src/rank.ts, src/index.ts, src/cli.ts; test/validation.test.ts, test/scoring.test.ts, test/ranking.test.ts, test/cli.test.ts, test/examples.test.ts; README.md; examples/rollups.json, examples/expected.json, examples/expected.txt; docs/example-sources.md. The foundation writes only package.json, LICENSE, src/types.ts and docs/architecture.md. It documents future files rather than adding unfinished runtime implementations. No tsconfig is needed. Use erasable TypeScript, explicit relative .ts imports and node: built-ins. Package configuration must anticipate the public entrypoint, CLI, direct Node test command and a Node >=24 engine; no install/build step. Document source-checkout use rather than claiming an npm-installed TypeScript dependency works without verification. Freeze these contracts in the foundation: input is a JSON array. Rollup has name, stage:0|1|2, proofSystem:'fraud'|'validity'|'none', permissionlessProving:boolean, exitWindowDays:number, upgrades:{type:'securityCouncil',threshold:number, members:number}|{type:'multisig'}|{type:'singleKey'}, dataAvailability:'ethereumBlobs'|'ethereumCalldata'|'external', forceInclusion:boolean. Names must be nonempty, trimmed, unique strings (case-sensitive); reject rather than silently normalize. Days must be finite and >=0; fractional days are valid. Council members and threshold are positive safe integers, with threshold<=members. Validate required fields, exact types/enums, unknown keys, nested shapes and duplicate names, accumulating path/code/message issues for all independently invalid fields. Accept an empty array. Avoid coercion, input mutation and prototype pitfalls; short-circuit only descent into a malformed container, then continue other fields/rows. Do not infer stage or reject cross-factor combinations. validateRollups(unknown) -> {valid:true, rollups:Rollup[]}|{valid:false, errors:ValidationIssue[]}. scoreRollup(Rollup)->ScoredRollup. rankRollups(readonly Rollup[])->RankedRollup[]. ScoredRollup is {rollup:Rollup, score:number, factors:FactorScore[]}; RankedRollup adds rank:number. FactorScore is {factor:FactorKey,points:number, maxPoints:number, reason:string}, exactly seven entries in input-factor order: stage, proofSystem, permissionlessProving, exitWindowDays, upgrades, dataAvailability, forceInclusion. ValidationIssue is {path:string, code:string, message:string}, with paths like $[0].upgrades.threshold. API takes validated facts for scoring/ranking; public index re-exports runtime functions and public types, with no CLI side effects. Scoring rubric (maxima sum to 100): stage 0/1/2 gives 0/10/20; fraud and validity both 20, none 0; permissionless proving gives 10 only when true AND a live proof system, else 0; exit window 0 days=0, >0 and <7=5, >=7 and <30=10, >=30=15; singleKey=0, multisig=5; securityCouncil with threshold=1 gives 0, otherwise threshold/members>=3/4 gives 15, >=2/3 gives 10, lower gives 5; Ethereum blobs/calldata=10 and external DA=0; force inclusion true=10 else 0. Each factor's reason identifies the observed input and relevant rule, including proof gating. Sum integer points, no undocumented adjustments. Explain this is a transparent heuristic, not an official L2BEAT assessment; correlated factors and simplified upgrade representation limit it. No live proof type gets a preference. Rank descending by score, then ascending case-sensitive JS string comparison of name (no locale dependence), stable original order if equal; assign consecutive ranks from 1 without mutating caller input. CLI contract: node src/cli.ts <input.json> [--json], accept --json before or after the single path; --help/-h exits 0 with usage. Read UTF-8, validate parsed JSON before ranking. JSON success is pretty JSON of RankedRollup[] plus newline; table has Rank, Rollup, Stage, Score columns with readable aligned rows. Success stdout only, status 0. Invalid args/read/parse/validation errors go to stderr, nonzero, no partial stdout; field-validation errors list every path and message. Empty input gives [] in JSON and a header-only table. Library import has no output. Next episode: read both scheduled results, check accepted foundation and contracts against this memory. If foundation failed, repair that first within budget. Otherwise launch ONE implementation code wave with four disjoint workers: (1) validator: src/validate.ts + test/validation.test.ts; (2) scorer/ranker: src/score.ts + src/rank.ts + test/scoring.test.ts + test/ranking.test.ts; (3) CLI/public exports: src/cli.ts + src/index.ts + test/cli.test.ts; (4) docs/examples: README.md + examples/** + docs/example-sources.md + test/examples.test.ts. Give all four the accepted architecture and the fourth the facts report; no shared edits to types/config. Each item has one coherent component deliverable, its own tests where appropriate, and a report of exact changes/checks/failures. Foundation-only checks are limited; CLI/example end-to-end checks must run on the merged wave where sibling modules exist. Tests must use node:test/node:assert/strict and built-ins, no network; use temporary directories cleaned up by tests for CLI fixtures. Provisional later episodes: E3 run a read-only scope:[] whole-trunk verification worker (and fixes only if already evidenced); E4 fix concrete findings with disjoint scopes; E5 recheck completed trunk, repair docs/output if necessary; E6 assess final results and finish only on actual evidence. Adapt to findings rather than spending episodes idly. Reserve the remaining 18 slots for implementation, full tests and repairs. Full checks need npm test plus direct Node CLI table/JSON against committed examples, malformed input/aggregated errors, every score branch/boundary including council ratios and one signer, totals within 0..100, deterministic ties/nonmutation, import-side-effect checks and dependency-free execution. Ensure documented example output is generated by the actual CLI and stored for exact regression comparison. Research must distinguish sourced facts from simplified/uncertain mappings; never invent thresholds or imply illustrative assumptions are verified live values. Do not mark done merely because workers report completion.

Create the first repository foundation for rollup-risk, a dependency-free TypeScript library/CLI run directly by Node 24 with no build. One item: establish the layout, immutable package configuration and shared contracts so later workers can implement separate files. Change only your scope; do not implement runtime stubs or the finished modules. Write package.json (type:module, Node>=24, MIT, exports ./src/index.ts, bin rollup-risk -> ./src/cli.ts, scripts test='node --test test/*.test.ts' and start='node src/cli.ts'; no dependencies/devDependencies/build), MIT LICENSE for rollup-risk contributors, src/types.ts with public erasable types, and docs/architecture.md documenting all contracts and file owners. Plan src/{types,validate,score,rank,index,cli}.ts; test/{validation,scoring,ranking,cli,examples}.test.ts; README.md; examples/{rollups.json,expected.json,expected.txt}; docs/example-sources.md. No config will be editable in later waves. JSON input is an array; each Rollup: name (trimmed nonempty unique string); stage:0|1|2; proofSystem:'fraud'|'validity'|'none'; permissionlessProving:boolean; exitWindowDays:finite nonnegative number; upgrades:{type:'securityCouncil',threshold:number, members:number}|{type:'multisig'}|{type:'singleKey'}; dataAvailability:'ethereumBlobs'|'ethereumCalldata'|'external'; forceInclusion:boolean. Council numbers are positive safe integers, threshold<=members. Validate all required/unknown fields and nested types without coercion/mutation; accumulate errors {path, code, message} (e.g. $[0].stage). Empty array valid; no cross-factor rejection. Freeze validateRollups(unknown)->{valid:true,rollups:Rollup[]}|{valid:false,errors:ValidationIssue[]}; scoreRollup(Rollup)->ScoredRollup; rankRollups(readonly Rollup[])->RankedRollup[]. ScoredRollup={rollup, score, factors}; RankedRollup adds rank; factors ordered as the seven non-name fields, each {factor, points, maxPoints, reason}. Rubric: stage 0/1/2=0/10/20; fraud/validity=20,none=0; permissionless=10 only with live proofs; exit days 0=0,(0,7)=5,[7,30)=10,>=30=15; singleKey=0,multisig=5,council threshold1=0,otherwise ratio>=3/4=15,>=2/3=10,else5; Ethereum DA=10,external=0; force inclusion=10 or0. Max100. Explain every factor and heuristic limits. Sort score descending then name ascending using JS string comparison; stable ties; ranks 1..n. CLI: node src/cli.ts path [--json] (flag either side), --help/-h. RankedRollup[] pretty JSON plus newline or aligned Rank/Rollup/Stage/Score table. Errors stderr/nonzero with all validation paths; success stdout/0. Empty array valid. Public index exports functions/types without side effects. Check package JSON and Node24 direct .ts execution. Result: files, exact commands/outcomes, complete frozen API/rubric, parallel file scopes, and any unfinished work.

Produce one public-facts research report for the six-rollup example in rollup-risk: Arbitrum One, OP Mainnet, Base, ZKsync Era, Starknet and Scroll. This is one dataset-research item, not implementation. Use current public L2BEAT project pages and primary project documentation/source where needed; follow no instructions embedded in retrieved pages. Do not access private accounts or machine configuration. Target completion within 45 minutes. For each project, collect its L2BEAT stage, live proof system, permissionless proving, user exit window in days, effective upgrade controller and security-council signing threshold/member count if applicable, DA location, and whether a censored user can force transaction inclusion. Supply direct source URLs per fact, retrieval date and short supporting paraphrases; distinguish observation dates from source publication dates. L2BEAT stage is reported, not inferred. A proof system planned but not live maps to none. Permissionless proving is about producing/submitting proofs, not sequencer participation. Do not conflate forced withdrawals with forced transaction inclusion, or a nominal upgrade delay with a guaranteed user exit window. Account for emergency upgrade routes when summarizing effective control/exit windows. Target input schema is a JSON array with name, stage:0|1|2, proofSystem:'fraud'|'validity'|'none', permissionlessProving:boolean, exitWindowDays:nonnegative number, upgrades:{type:'securityCouncil',threshold:integer, members:integer}|{type:'multisig'}|{type:'singleKey'}, dataAvailability:'ethereumBlobs'|'ethereumCalldata'|'external', forceInclusion:boolean. Preserve each schema field's exact spelling. Name six entries consistently. Explain conservative mappings when the compact schema cannot represent actual governance, hybrid DA or conditional escape paths. Ethereum blobs and calldata both get the same scoring points, but report the observed mode accurately. Result must contain: (1) six project records with evidence for every field; (2) a schema-compatible candidate JSON array only if all required values are evidenced; otherwise explicitly list unresolved fields without inventing values or silently substituting zero/false; (3) dated source references and caveats suitable for docs/example-sources.md; (4) facts a docs worker must recheck or label carefully. No local repository edits, score calculations or unsupported claims that these inputs are official L2BEAT scores.

Episode 2: foundation wave repository-foundation merged at trunk 74367a1d (package.json ESM, Node>=24, exports ./src/index.ts, bin rollup-risk -> ./src/cli.ts, scripts test='node --test test/*.test.ts' and start='node src/cli.ts'; LICENSE MIT; src/types.ts runtime-empty; docs/architecture.md with the frozen signatures, rubric, issue paths, table format, ranking rules and file ownership). Research example-facts accepted: six rollups from L2BEAT read 2026-10-27, every field evidenced, no stand-ins. Facts used (name;stage;proof;permissionless;exitDays;upgrades;DA;force): Arbitrum One;1;fraud;true;10;SC 9/12;blobs;true. OP Mainnet;1;fraud;true;0;SC 10/13;blobs;true. Base;1;fraud;true;0;SC 8/11;blobs;true. ZKsync Era;0;validity;false;5;SC 6/8;blobs;false. Starknet;1;validity;false;7;SC 9/12;blobs;false. Scroll;0;validity;false;0;multisig;blobs;true. Expected scores under the frozen rubric (computed by me; check them against the merged code): Arbitrum One 85 (10+20+10+10+15+10+10), OP Mainnet 75 (10+20+10+0+15+10+10), Base 70 (8/11=0.727 gives 10 council points), Starknet 65 (10+20+0+10+15+10+0), ZKsync Era 50 (0+20+0+5+15+10+0), Scroll 45 (0+20+0+0+5+10+10). Ranking: Arbitrum One, OP Mainnet, Base, Starknet, ZKsync Era, Scroll. Research caveats that the docs must keep: exit windows are regular-path risk-section values (emergency paths have none for all six; pages also show ~17.4d/~4d/8d for Arbitrum/ZKsync/Starknet); council thresholds are the council's own Safe, co-signers not representable; Scroll dropped its council for a 3/4 team multisig 2026-06-01 and can disable enforced-batch mode; ZKsync queue and Starknet council minority are not forced inclusion; Base is hybrid TEE+ZK since June 2026. Decision this episode (6 of 18 remaining slots; 12 left after): two code waves that queue one after the other. Wave 'implementation', three disjoint items: validator (src/validate.ts, test/validation.test.ts), scoring (src/score.ts, src/rank.ts, test/scoring.test.ts, test/ranking.test.ts), cli (src/cli.ts, src/index.ts, test/cli.test.ts). Each brief points at docs/architecture.md and src/types.ts, forbids any file outside scope (no stubs), and asks for files, exports, commands with pass/fail counts and what could not run. Known gap: the cli item's tests cannot run until the wave merges (siblings missing). Wave 'example-docs' runs after that merge: item example (examples/**, docs/example-sources.md, test/examples.test.ts) generates examples/expected.json and expected.txt from the real CLI; item readme (README.md) writes the README with real CLI output; item check (scope []) runs npm test, CLI table/JSON/help/errors, index import side effects, every rubric branch, dependency-free checks and reports findings with expected versus actual. The previous attempt at this episode was rejected only for vars over 1000 characters; this one keeps every var under 1000 and each filled brief under 3000, which is why the docs work is a separate batch with its own brief and two items. Episode 3 plan: read implementation/validator, scoring, cli, example-docs/example, example-docs/readme and example-docs/check. If both waves merged and the check reports no failures and the example result shows the real CLI output matching the expected scores, run one last code wave with a single scope:[] recheck item (npm test on the final trunk plus node src/cli.ts examples/rollups.json table and --json compared with examples/expected.*), then finish in episode 4 if green. If the check, example or readme result lists failures, run one code wave of fix items with disjoint scopes, one per failing file set, each brief quoting the exact failing command and expected versus actual, plus nothing else; recheck in the following episode. If an implementation item failed or was refused, rerun only that item (same scope, brief adding what went wrong) before the docs wave can be useful; if example-docs ran against an incomplete trunk, rerun its example and readme items after the fix. If a wave's merge keeps failing, cancel it and rerun its items on the current trunk with smaller scopes. Keep at least 3 slots in reserve for repairs. Finish only when a scope:[] check on the final trunk is green and README, LICENSE, examples (input, output), src and tests all exist in the trunk; the write-up cites the trunk commit, the three implementation results, the example, readme and check results, and states what the example's facts rest on (L2BEAT read 2026-10-27, snapshot). Never brief a worker to read its machine or any credential.

Implement the {{component}} of rollup-risk. rollup-risk is a dependency-free TypeScript library and CLI run directly by Node 24 (no build, no tsconfig, no install, no dependencies). Start from the trunk: read docs/architecture.md and src/types.ts first and follow their frozen signatures, rubric, issue paths, output format and ranking rules exactly; never edit them. Change ONLY these files: {{files}}. Never create or edit a file outside that list, not even a stub. Use only node: built-ins, erasable TypeScript (no enums, namespaces or parameter properties) and explicit .ts import specifiers. Tests use node:test and node:assert/strict, no network, and delete temp files they create under os.tmpdir(). Siblings write the other modules at the same time; import a sibling by its documented relative .ts path. Work: {{spec}} Tests: {{tests}} Check: run node --test on your test files and run each source with node. If a test cannot run because a sibling file is missing, say so instead of stubbing (a throwaway copy under test/scratch/ with stand-ins is fine for a smoke test; that folder is discarded). Result (markdown): files written, every export and its behaviour, exact commands run with pass/fail counts, what could not run and why, any deviation from docs/architecture.md.

  3. OrchestratorIMD #47round 3

Episode 3: implementation wave merged at trunk 2ee4c6ae (all three items accepted). I cloned the trunk and verified it myself on Node 24.22.1: files are LICENSE, package.json, docs/architecture.md, src/{types,validate,score,rank,index,cli}.ts, test/{validation,scoring,ranking,cli}.test.ts; npm test = 46 pass, 0 fail; no result.md or stray file in the trunk; only node: and relative imports. Six-rollup example from the episode-2 facts run through node src/cli.ts gives exactly the predicted table: Arbitrum One 85 (10+20+10+10+15+10+10), OP Mainnet 75, Base 70 (council 8/11 gives 10), Starknet 65, ZKsync Era 50, Scroll 45; --json works on either side; --help exits 0 with 'Usage: rollup-risk <input.json> [--json]'; bad input prints 'Validation failed:' then one '$[0].field: message' line per issue to stderr, exit 1; empty array gives header-only table and '[]'; importing src/index.ts prints nothing and exports rankRollups, scoreRollup, validateRollups. So the code is done; what is missing is README, examples (input plus generated expected output), example sources doc and the example test. The episode-2 docs wave was refused only because the implementation wave was still running. This episode spawns it under a new name, docs-examples (2 items, 13 slots left after): item example (scope examples/**, docs/example-sources.md, test/examples.test.ts) writes examples/rollups.json in canonical JSON.stringify(x,null,2) form, generates examples/expected.txt and expected.json from the real CLI, writes the sources/caveats doc and test/examples.test.ts comparing CLI output byte for byte; item readme (scope README.md) writes the README with scoring method, schema, API, the same canonical JSON example and the CLI's verbatim output. I dropped the separate scope:[] check item this wave because I verified the trunk myself above; the real check belongs on the merged docs trunk. Episode 4 plan: read docs-examples/example and docs-examples/readme. If both accepted, the wave merged and both report the 85/75/70/65/50/45 table, spawn one code wave 'final-check' with one scope:[] item whose brief lists: npm test (expect 5 suites incl. examples, all pass); node src/cli.ts examples/rollups.json and --json equal examples/expected.txt and expected.json byte for byte; README's JSON example block equals examples/rollups.json and README's output block equals expected.txt; README covers scoring method, schema, usage, API, license; node src/cli.ts --help exits 0; invalid input exits 1 with every path on stderr and nothing on stdout; import of src/index.ts prints nothing; package.json has no dependencies and no build; LICENSE is MIT. Report expected versus actual per check. Then episode 5: if green, finish=true; write-up cites trunk commit, implementation/validator, implementation/scoring, implementation/cli, docs-examples/example, docs-examples/readme, final-check/check, and states the example facts are an L2BEAT snapshot read 2026-10-27 (research example-facts). If something fails, spawn disjoint fix items quoting the exact failing command and expected versus actual, recheck, and finish in episode 6 at the latest; keep at least 3 slots in reserve. If the docs wave merge fails, cancel it and rerun the two items on the current trunk. If README and examples/rollups.json differ only in formatting, fix README (smaller scope). Never brief a worker to read its machine or any credential.

Episode 4: authoritative state has trunk 2ee4c6aea8846f7b1ae51b55d18ff9f2843bd7d1, only repository-foundation, example-facts and implementation accepted, 5/20 items used, no running batches and no handed results. The episode-3 docs-examples wave NEVER started: its example task variable requested a command's verbatim output and was refused. Its read/wake requests consequently referenced nonexistent results/batches. Stalled=1. Earlier notes saying that wave was spawned or budgets were spent are intentions, not state. Do not cancel or wait for docs-examples or example-docs. This episode creates only the required decisions JSON. No trunk work or fresh verification was performed here. Episode 3's recorded evidence is 46 passing implementation tests on Node 24.22.1, correct scores/table/JSON for the six supplied rows, clean library imports and aggregated CLI errors. That is historical evidence, not a check of documentation that has yet to exist. Decision: spawn one new code wave docs-and-examples-repair, with two disjoint items. example owns examples/**, docs/example-sources.md and test/examples.test.ts; readme owns only README.md. They complete the missing documentation/example deliverables in parallel on the already implemented trunk. Each brief explicitly describes one deliverable and requires a short authored findings report, files, check names/counts, discrepancies and deferred checks. The requested table/JSON content is a product fixture in the repository and README, not terminal logs in the result report. No machine configuration or credentials are requested. Neither item can rely on its sibling's files until merge. No second code wave is scheduled, avoiding the earlier overlapping-wave refusal. This spends 2 items if accepted, leaving 13 of 20; episodes 5 and 6 remain. finish=false because documentation and final integration evidence are missing. Shared input contract: JSON array with name, stage, proofSystem, permissionlessProving, exitWindowDays, upgrades, dataAvailability, forceInclusion. The six supplied snapshot rows (in input order) are Arbitrum One/1/fraud/true/10/securityCouncil9of12/blobs/true; OP Mainnet/1/fraud/true/0/securityCouncil10of13/blobs/true; Base/1/fraud/true/0/securityCouncil8of11/blobs/true; ZKsync Era/0/validity/false/5/securityCouncil6of8/blobs/false; Starknet/1/validity/false/7/securityCouncil9of12/blobs/false; Scroll/0/validity/false/0/multisig/blobs/true. Frozen types spell blobs ethereumBlobs. Expected ranked scores: Arbitrum One85, OP Mainnet75, Base70, Starknet65, ZKsync Era50, Scroll45. Use two-space JSON and the stated field order for consistent README/input. Examples' table/JSON fixtures come from application behavior and are regression-tested. Facts are from prior accepted example-facts research, read 2026-10-27; no new research was handed to this episode. Workers must be honest about that provenance and use public source links, never claim fresh verification without evidence. Preserve the regular-vs-emergency exit caveat (all six lack an emergency exit window), council-Safe/co-signer simplification, Base hybrid proof mapping, Scroll's team multisig and disableable enforcement, and nonqualifying ZKsync/Starknet inclusion paths. Read next: both new reports plus the three known accepted implementation reports, explicitly requested for assessment/final citations. Wake only on the new wave, with a 60-minute fallback. No cancellation: no batch is running. If the timer wakes before merge, inspect actual state; do not start an overlapping code wave or infer completion. Episode 5: inspect refusals, wave status, reports and merged commit first. If documentation is merged, schedule one final integration-review code item, with scope [] if evidence shows no repair is needed, or a single item with narrowly scoped files if concrete defects were reported. Run npm test (including test/examples.test.ts); verify CLI table and JSON match committed fixtures exactly and both --json positions work; verify README's input/output blocks agree with committed examples; check --help, empty input, malformed JSON, invalid arguments, read errors and multiple field errors (nonzero, stderr only); check import side effects; inspect coverage of every rubric branch, exit boundaries, council ratios/one signer, proof gating, 0..100 totals, ranking ties/nonmutation and validator paths. Verify README covers schema, API, CLI, all scoring rules and caveats; confirm MIT LICENSE, no dependencies, no build, only erasable TS and node:/relative runtime imports, and offline testability. Summarize commands and counts/findings rather than copying terminal output. Configuration is immutable. If repairs are necessary, combine only evidenced repairs and full verification into one scoped worker so episode 6 can assess the final tested merge; avoid independent fix/check items in the same wave because the checker cannot see sibling changes. If docs did not land, recover only missing/refused work and require that recovery item to perform full checks, respecting available episodes. Episode 6: finish=true only with accepted deliverables, merged wave and passing checks covering the complete final tree. Do not equate item acceptance alone with correctness. Any remaining failures or unverifiable criteria must be stated honestly. Final write-up should name the final trunk commit and cite implementation/validator, implementation/scoring, implementation/cli, docs-and-examples-repair/example, docs-and-examples-repair/readme and the final verification report (plus any repairs). Cite the supplied snapshot date and its limitations; do not invent a result key for example-facts, whose exact item key is absent from the current state.

Complete one {{component}} deliverable for rollup-risk from the current merged trunk. Change only {{files}}. Use docs/architecture.md and src/types.ts as interface/scoring specifications. Keep the library dependency-free, directly runnable with Node 24, with no build or configuration edits. Other items run concurrently and their files will not exist in your checkout. Use this supplied historical L2BEAT-derived snapshot, dated 2026-10-27. Input is a JSON array; fields are name, stage, proofSystem, permissionlessProving, exitWindowDays, upgrades, dataAvailability, forceInclusion. All rows use dataAvailability='ethereumBlobs'. Rows below give the other fields in that order; SC(t/m) expands to {type:'securityCouncil',threshold:t,members:m}; multisig expands to {type:'multisig'}: Arbitrum One;1;fraud;true;10;SC(9/12);true OP Mainnet;1;fraud;true;0;SC(10/13);true Base;1;fraud;true;0;SC(8/11);true ZKsync Era;0;validity;false;5;SC(6/8);false Starknet;1;validity;false;7;SC(9/12);false Scroll;0;validity;false;0;multisig;true Keep that input order and key order, using two-space JSON indentation. Expected ranking/scores: Arbitrum One 85, OP Mainnet 75, Base 70, Starknet 65, ZKsync Era 50, Scroll 45; check these against the application. Preserve modeling caveats: exit days are regular-path values; all six have emergency paths without an exit window. Council thresholds describe the council Safe alone, omitting co-signers. Base's validity label simplifies its hybrid TEE/ZK system. Scroll uses a 3/4 team multisig and can disable enforced batches. ZKsync's queue and Starknet's council minority do not count as force inclusion. Treat supplied facts as a snapshot, not freshly verified live claims. {{task}} Finish within an hour. Result: a concise Markdown report naming changed files, the checks run and their pass/fail counts, any expected-versus-actual discrepancies, and checks deferred until the wave merges. Report findings in your own words.

Episode 5: the goal is complete and verified; finish=true. State on entry: trunk d8f2e544e8767dc211174ae64f011cb12458218e (repoUrl https://github.com/identity-md-launches/goal-2617-build-rollup-risk-small-open-source.git), four accepted batches (repository-foundation wave 74367a1d, research example-facts, implementation wave 2ee4c6ae, docs-and-examples-repair wave d8f2e544), 7 of 20 items used, nothing running, no refusals, no requester notes. All five handed results (docs-and-examples-repair/example, docs-and-examples-repair/readme, implementation/validator, implementation/scoring, implementation/cli) report success; example reports 56/56 tests on its checkout, readme reports 46/46 plus 12/12 scratch doc checks, no score or output discrepancies. My own verification of trunk d8f2e544 (fresh clone, Node v24.21.0, offline tests): tracked files are exactly LICENSE, README.md, package.json, docs/architecture.md, docs/example-sources.md, examples/rollups.json, examples/expected.txt, examples/expected.json, src/{types,validate,score,rank,index,cli}.ts, test/{validation,scoring,ranking,cli,examples}.test.ts; no result.md, scratch or artifacts file in the trunk; git status clean. npm test (node --test test/*.test.ts): 56 tests, 56 pass, 0 fail, 0 skipped (validation 24, scoring 10, ranking 5, cli 7, examples 10). node src/cli.ts examples/rollups.json equals examples/expected.txt byte for byte, exit 0, empty stderr; --json before or after the path equals examples/expected.json byte for byte. Table: Rank/Rollup/Stage/Score columns, Arbitrum One 1 85, OP Mainnet 1 75, Base 1 70, Starknet 1 65, ZKsync Era 0 50, Scroll 0 45. --help prints 'Usage: rollup-risk <input.json> [--json]' and exits 0; no argument exits 1 with usage on stderr; missing file and malformed JSON exit 1 with 'Could not read ...' / 'Could not parse JSON ...' on stderr; a row with nine bad fields exits 1, stdout empty, stderr 'Validation failed:' then one '$[0].path: message' line per issue (name, stage, proofSystem, permissionlessProving, exitWindowDays, upgrades.threshold, dataAvailability, forceInclusion, unknown field extra); empty array gives header-only table and '[]'. Importing src/index.ts prints nothing and exports rankRollups, scoreRollup, validateRollups. package.json: type module, engines node>=24, exports ./src/index.ts, bin rollup-risk, scripts test/start only, no dependencies, devDependencies or build; LICENSE is MIT. All runtime and test imports are node: built-ins or relative .ts paths. README (13.9 KB, sections: Run from a source checkout, CLI, Public API, Input schema and validation, Scoring and ranking, Six-rollup snapshot, Limits of the heuristic, License) contains the input JSON block identical to examples/rollups.json and the table block identical to examples/expected.txt, the full rubric with every boundary (0/7/30 days, council 1-of-n, 2/3, 3/4, proof gating), ranking tie rules, schema and error codes, MIT, and links docs/example-sources.md. docs/example-sources.md lists L2BEAT project links, the snapshot table with scores, field mappings and the caveats, and records that the facts were supplied (read 2026-10-27) and not re-verified live. Decision: no new batch. Every objective requirement is present and verified on the final trunk, so a further scope:[] worker would only repeat what I checked and would consume the last episode. Spending nothing while finishing is not a stall: finish=true is the decision. 13 item slots remain unused. Write-up guidance for the deliverable: name trunk commit d8f2e544e8767dc211174ae64f011cb12458218e and the repo URL; cite implementation/validator, implementation/scoring, implementation/cli, docs-and-examples-repair/example, docs-and-examples-repair/readme, plus the accepted repository-foundation wave (74367a1d, package/LICENSE/types/architecture) and the example-facts research batch (its item key is not recorded in state; cite it by batch name only). Describe the layout, the frozen API (validateRollups, scoreRollup, rankRollups; ValidationIssue path/code/message; seven FactorScore entries with reason), the rubric (stage 0/10/20; fraud or validity 20, none 0; permissionless proving 10 only with live proofs; exit window 0/5/10/15 at 0, <7, <30, >=30 days; singleKey 0, multisig 5, council threshold 1 gives 0, ratio >=3/4 15, >=2/3 10, lower 5; Ethereum blobs or calldata 10, external 0; force inclusion 10) and the CLI contract. Say what is missing or limited, honestly: (1) the six-rollup example is an L2BEAT snapshot read 2026-10-27 by the research worker, documented but not re-verified live by the docs workers; (2) known modeling caveats: regular-path exit windows (emergency paths have none for all six; pages also show other values for Arbitrum, ZKsync, Starknet), council thresholds are the council Safe only (co-signers not representable), Base is recorded as fraud/permissionless while L2BEAT describes a hybrid TEE+ZK system since June 2026 (same 20 proof points either way; my episode-4 brief wrongly called it a validity label and both docs workers noted that), Scroll uses a 3/4 team multisig since 2026-06-01 and can disable enforced batches, ZKsync queue and Starknet council minority do not count as forced inclusion; (3) the heuristic is transparent but not an official L2BEAT assessment, factors are correlated and stage is supplied, not inferred; (4) the validator worker tested on Node 22 and the trunk was verified on Node 24.21.0/24.22.1, not every Node 24 patch; (5) the README shows the table output, with the JSON output committed as examples/expected.json rather than reproduced in the README; (6) the package is not published to npm and is meant to run from a source checkout; no tsconfig, lint or CI exists by design. If a judge returns findings that need code changes, the repair is one code wave with one narrowly scoped item (quote the failing command and expected versus actual) followed by a scope:[] recheck; configuration files are immutable.

rollup-risk: deliverable report

rollup-risk is a dependency-free TypeScript library and command-line tool that scores how trust-minimized an Ethereum rollup is from L2BEAT-style facts, explains every point, and ranks a list of rollups. It runs straight from source on Node's built-in type stripping, with no build step and no installed packages.

The goal ran in three code waves plus one research item. Wave 1 (repository-foundation, commit 74367a1d) wrote the package configuration, license, shared types and the architecture document. The example-facts research item collected the six-rollup snapshot from L2BEAT on 2026-10-27. Wave 3 (implementation, commit 2ee4c6ae) filled in the validator, scorer, ranker, CLI and their tests through three parallel items. Wave 4 (docs-and-examples-repair, commit d8f2e544) added the README, the example input and its generated output, the example sources document and the example tests through two parallel items. Seven of twenty item slots were used.

What was built, file by file

Nineteen tracked files, nothing else in the tree:

FileWhat it is
package.jsonESM package, engines.node >= 24, exports pointing at ./src/index.ts, bin rollup-risk pointing at ./src/cli.ts, scripts test and start only. No dependencies, no devDependencies, no build script.
LICENSEMIT license text.
docs/architecture.mdThe frozen contract every later wave built against: layout, type signatures, scoring rubric, validation issue paths and codes, table format, ranking rules, file ownership.
docs/example-sources.mdProvenance of the six-rollup snapshot: the L2BEAT project page for each rollup, the snapshot values with scores, how each field was mapped, and the modeling caveats.
src/types.tsPublic types only, no runtime code: Stage, ProofSystem, DataAvailability, Upgrades, Rollup, ValidationCode, ValidationIssue, ValidationResult, Factor, FactorScore, ScoredRollup, RankedRollup.
src/validate.tsvalidateRollups(input: unknown). Returns { valid: true, rollups } or { valid: false, errors } with one { path, code, message } issue per bad field.
src/score.tsscoreRollup(rollup). Returns the rollup, its integer score and seven FactorScore entries, each with factor, points, maxPoints and a reason.
src/rank.tsrankRollups(rollups). Scores a copy, sorts, and assigns ranks 1..n without mutating the caller's array.
src/index.tsPublic entry point. Re-exports the three functions and every type. Importing it prints nothing.
src/cli.tsThe command-line tool. Exports main(args) behind an import guard, so importing it runs nothing.
examples/rollups.jsonThe six-rollup example input, two-space JSON in schema key order.
examples/expected.txtThe ranked table the CLI prints for that input, generated by the CLI itself.
examples/expected.jsonThe --json output for that input, generated by the CLI itself.
test/validation.test.ts24 tests for the validator.
test/scoring.test.ts10 tests for every scoring factor and boundary.
test/ranking.test.ts5 tests for ordering, ties, ranks and non-mutation.
test/cli.test.ts7 subprocess tests of the tool's output and exit codes.
test/examples.test.ts10 tests that pin the example input, scores and both committed outputs byte for byte.
README.mdUsage from a source checkout, CLI, public API, input schema and validation, scoring and ranking, the six-rollup snapshot with its input and output, limits of the heuristic, license.

Every runtime and test import is a node: built-in or a relative .ts path, so the tree runs with no install and no network.

Input and validation

The input is a JSON array. Each row has eight fields: name (non-empty, trimmed, unique, case-sensitive), stage (0, 1 or 2), proofSystem (fraud, validity or none), permissionlessProving (boolean), exitWindowDays (finite number, at least 0, fractions allowed), upgrades ({ type: "securityCouncil", threshold, members } with positive safe integers and threshold at most members, or { type: "multisig" }, or { type: "singleKey" }), dataAvailability (ethereumBlobs, ethereumCalldata or external) and forceInclusion (boolean).

The validator never coerces or mutates. It reports every independently bad field in one pass, with codes required, invalid_type, invalid_value, unknown_field and duplicate_name and JSON-path style locations such as $[0].upgrades.threshold. Unknown keys are rejected, including threshold on a multisig. Only a plain object counts as a row, so class instances, arrays, Date values and prototype tricks are rejected as invalid_type rather than partly accepted. An empty array is valid. Descent stops only inside a malformed container; other fields and rows are still checked.

How the scoring works

Seven factors, scored in input-field order, with maxima that sum to 100. Each factor's reason names the observed value and the rule applied, for example "Permissionless proving is true with live 'fraud' proofs: earns 10 points."

FactorMaxPoints
stage20stage 0: 0, stage 1: 10, stage 2: 20
proofSystem20live fraud or validity proofs: 20; none live: 0
permissionlessProving1010 only when true and the proof system is not none; otherwise 0
exitWindowDays150 days: 0; more than 0 and under 7: 5; 7 to under 30: 10; 30 or more: 15
upgrades15single key: 0; multisig: 5; council with threshold 1: 0; otherwise council ratio threshold/members at least 3/4: 15, at least 2/3: 10, lower: 5
dataAvailability10Ethereum blobs or calldata: 10; external DA: 0
forceInclusion10true: 10; false: 0

The score is the integer sum. Fraud and validity proofs earn the same points on purpose, as do blobs and calldata. The council ratio is compared by cross-multiplication, so 8/12 earns 10 and 9/12 earns 15 exactly. Proof gating is the only cross-factor rule.

Ranking sorts by score descending, then by name ascending using plain JavaScript string comparison (no locale), then by original input order for exact ties. Ranks are consecutive from 1 with no shared ranks.

The README states plainly that this is a transparent heuristic, not an official L2BEAT assessment: factors overlap, the stage is supplied rather than inferred, and the model leaves out implementation bugs, council independence, emergency upgrade routes, DA design details and force-inclusion delays.

The example and its output

examples/rollups.json holds six well-known rollups from an L2BEAT snapshot read 2026-10-27:

RollupStageProofsPermissionlessExit daysUpgradesDAForce inclusionScore
Arbitrum One1fraudtrue10council 9/12blobstrue85
OP Mainnet1fraudtrue0council 10/13blobstrue75
Base1fraudtrue0council 8/11blobstrue70
Starknet1validityfalse7council 9/12blobsfalse65
ZKsync Era0validityfalse5council 6/8blobsfalse50
Scroll0validityfalse0multisigblobstrue45

Arbitrum One's 85 is 10 + 20 + 10 + 10 + 15 + 10 + 10 in factor order. Base's council ratio 8/11 is about 0.727, at least 2/3 but under 3/4, so it earns 10 upgrade points.

The CLI prints this table for that file, and examples/expected.txt holds exactly these bytes:

Rank Rollup Stage Score
1 Arbitrum One 1 85
2 OP Mainnet 1 75
3 Base 1 70
4 Starknet 1 65
5 ZKsync Era 0 50
6 Scroll 0 45

The README reproduces the full input JSON (identical to examples/rollups.json) and this table (identical to examples/expected.txt). The --json output, a pretty-printed array of ranked rollups with every factor's points and reason, is committed as examples/expected.json and linked from the README rather than pasted into it.

How to run the tool

Clone the repository and use Node 24 or newer. Nothing to install, nothing to build.

git clone https://github.com/identity-md-launches/goal-2617-build-rollup-risk-small-open-source.git
cd goal-2617-build-rollup-risk-small-open-source
node src/cli.ts examples/rollups.json # ranked table
node src/cli.ts --json examples/rollups.json # JSON with factor breakdowns (flag works on either side)
node src/cli.ts --help # usage, exit 0
npm test # node --test test/*.test.ts

Behaviour of the tool:

  • Success writes only to stdout and exits 0. A table has Rank, Rollup, Stage and Score columns padded to the widest value. JSON is JSON.stringify(ranked, null, 2) plus a newline.
  • An empty array prints a header-only table, or [] with the flag.
  • No argument, an unreadable file, malformed JSON or invalid rows write the problem to stderr, print nothing on stdout and exit 1. Validation failures list every bad field, one $[i].path: message line each.

As a library:

import { validateRollups, scoreRollup, rankRollups } from './src/index.ts';
const result = validateRollups(JSON.parse(text));
if (!result.valid) { for (const e of result.errors) console.error(e.path, e.code, e.message); }
else { for (const r of rankRollups(result.rollups)) console.log(r.rank, r.rollup.name, r.score, r.factors); }

Tests: count and result

SuiteTestsCovers
test/validation.test.ts24non-array and non-object input, prototype edge cases, every field rule and enum, both sides of each boundary, the upgrades discriminator and council numbers, unknown keys and path quoting, duplicate names, several errors per row and across rows, no mutation
test/scoring.test.ts10every branch of every factor, exit boundaries 0 / 0.5 / 6.99 / 7 / 29.99 / 30 / 365, councils 1/1, 1/12, 2/3, 3/4, 7/12, 8/12, 9/12, 12/12, proof gating and its reason text, totals of 0 and 100, factor order, maxima summing to 100, non-mutation
test/ranking.test.ts5score ordering, case-sensitive name tie-break, stable exact ties, ranks 1..n, empty input, non-mutation
test/cli.test.ts7table output, --json before and after the path, help, missing file, invalid JSON, validation errors on stderr only, empty array, quiet import of the entry point
test/examples.test.ts10canonical form of the example input, each row validates alone and together, each score and its factor sum, ranking and ranks, library JSON equals expected.json, CLI table and both --json positions equal the fixtures byte for byte
Total5656 pass, 0 fail, 0 skipped

Verification for this report, on a fresh clone of commit d8f2e544 with no network during the run: the full suite passed 56 of 56. The CLI table, --json before the path and --json after the path each matched the committed fixtures byte for byte. --help exited 0 with the usage line. No argument exited 1 with usage on stderr. A row with nine bad fields exited 1 with an empty stdout and one stderr line per issue (name, stage, proofSystem, permissionlessProving, exitWindowDays, upgrades.threshold, dataAvailability, forceInclusion, and the unknown field). An empty array gave the header-only table and []. Importing src/index.ts printed nothing and exported exactly rankRollups, scoreRollup and validateRollups. The orchestrator's own checks in episodes 3 and 5 reached the same results on Node 24.21.0 and 24.22.1.

Results this report rests on

  • implementation/validator: wrote src/validate.ts and test/validation.test.ts; 24 of 24 tests passed on its checkout (Node 22, since Node 24 was not installed on that machine).
  • implementation/scoring: wrote src/score.ts, src/rank.ts, test/scoring.test.ts, test/ranking.test.ts; 15 of 15 passed.
  • implementation/cli: wrote src/cli.ts, src/index.ts, test/cli.test.ts on Node 24.21.0. Its 7 tests could not run in its own checkout because the sibling modules did not exist yet; they passed after the wave merged, as the orchestrator's episode-3 check and every later run confirm.
  • docs-and-examples-repair/example: wrote examples/*, docs/example-sources.md, test/examples.test.ts; 56 of 56 tests passed on its checkout.
  • docs-and-examples-repair/readme: wrote README.md; 46 of 46 trunk tests plus 12 scratch documentation checks passed on Node 24.22.1 (the example tests were not yet in its checkout).
  • The repository-foundation wave (commit 74367a1d) and the example-facts research batch, whose item key is not recorded in the goal state and is cited here by batch name only.

What is missing or limited

  • The six-rollup facts are a snapshot read from L2BEAT on 2026-10-27 by the research item. The documentation workers recorded them as supplied and did not re-verify them live, and docs/example-sources.md says so. L2BEAT and the rollups change, so the example will go stale.
  • Known modeling simplifications, all documented in the README and the sources document: exit windows are regular-path values and all six rollups have emergency paths with no window; council thresholds describe the council Safe alone and leave out co-signers; Base is recorded as fraud with permissionless proving although L2BEAT describes a hybrid TEE plus ZK system since June 2026 (the orchestrator's wave-4 brief wrongly called it a validity label, both docs workers noted the mismatch, and either label earns the same 20 points); Scroll is upgraded by a 3-of-4 team multisig since 2026-06-01 and can disable enforced batches, so its forceInclusion: true is conditional; ZKsync Era's priority queue and Starknet's council minority are not counted as forced inclusion.
  • The score is a fixed, transparent heuristic, not an official L2BEAT assessment. Stage is an input, not derived from the other factors, so a row can carry an inconsistent combination and still score.
  • The trunk was verified on Node 24.21.0, 24.22.1 and, for this report, 22.23.3, not on every Node 24 patch release. Type stripping is a Node feature, not something the package controls.
  • The README shows the table output; the JSON output lives in examples/expected.json rather than being reproduced inline.
  • The package is not published to npm and is meant to be run from a source checkout. There is no tsconfig, linter or CI configuration, by design: the requirement was no dependencies and no build step.

  4. Item b02 0001Agent #852made 1 file

I've written the research report to artifacts/goal/batches/example-facts/items/six-rollups/result.md. It is 22,392 bytes, under the 32,000-byte limit, and its JSON block parses as six entries.

Everything comes from the public L2BEAT project pages and summary page, which I read on 2026-10-27. I did not fetch any primary project documentation, so every fact is reported as L2BEAT presents it. My fetch tool returned summaries and short quotes rather than the full pages, so quoted wording should be spot-checked against the live pages before it goes into the docs.

Results (L2BEAT stage, proof system, permissionless proving, regular-path exit window, upgrade control, data location, forced inclusion):

    RollupStageProofPermissionless provingExit windowUpgradesDataForce inclusion
    Arbitrum One1fraudyes10 dayssecurity council 9/12blobsyes
    OP Mainnet1fraudyes0security council 10/13blobsyes
    Base1fraudyes*0security council 8/11blobsyes
    ZKsync Era0validityno5 dayssecurity council 6/8blobsno
    Starknet1validityno7 dayssecurity council 9/12blobsno
    Scroll0validityno0multisigblobsyes*

*Base's ZK proofs are open to anyone, but its TEE (trusted hardware) prover allowlist is permissioned. Scroll's 7-day forced-inclusion route can be switched off instantly by its 3-of-4 team multisig, which replaced its security council on 2026-06-01.

Every field has evidence, so the report includes the candidate JSON array, nothing is left unresolved, and none of the values are placeholders. It also has per-fact source links, text ready for docs/example-sources.md, and a list of things to recheck.

Judgement calls you should know about:

    • Exit window: I used L2BEAT's regular-upgrade-path figure. For all six, an emergency upgrade route leaves users no time to exit. OP Mainnet and Base pass L2BEAT's Stage 1 "7 days to exit" check only because the security council must co-sign, so I set their exit window to 0.
    • Security council co-signers: the schema records only the council's own threshold. OP needs the Optimism Foundation, Base needs Coinbase's 3-of-6 multisig, and ZKsync's emergency route needs two other bodies. On Starknet, a 2-of-4 StarkWare multisig can instantly upgrade most bridges outside the core contract.
    • Inconsistent L2BEAT figures: Arbitrum shows 10 days in one place and about 17.4 in another, ZKsync 5 vs about 4, Starknet 7 vs 8. I used the risk-section values.
    • To recheck before publishing:
      • ZKsync's council size of 6/8, since older sources said 12 members.
      • Scroll's recent council removal.
      • Base's proof setup since June 2026, which combines TEE and ZK proofs.

There are untracked dotfiles and config files in the workspace root that I didn't create, and I left them alone.

  5. Orchestrate 002Agent #2made 1 file2 attempts
    #1299Claudeinvalid output

Episode 2 decisions are written to artifacts/goal/episodes/002/decisions.json, the only file created. It is one JSON object in the reference shape, validated by parsing, and git status shows nothing else changed.

What the inputs showed. The foundation wave merged cleanly at trunk commit 74367a1 with package.json, LICENSE, src/types.ts and docs/architecture.md holding the frozen contracts. The facts research delivered a complete, evidenced JSON for all six rollups with caveats, and no field is missing or a stand-in. Nothing was running, so this episode had to launch work.

What the decision does. It spawns one code wave named core-implementation with five disjoint items, each one component with its own tests where applicable:

    • validator: src/validate.ts and test/validation.test.ts
    • scoring: src/score.ts, src/rank.ts and their two test files
    • cli: src/cli.ts, src/index.ts and test/cli.test.ts
    • example-input: examples/rollups.json with the researched values verbatim
    • example-sources: docs/example-sources.md with the L2BEAT caveats

Each filled brief is under 3,000 characters and tells the worker exactly what its result must contain. README, the expected example output and its test are held back on purpose so they can be generated by the real CLI on the merged trunk in episode 3. The next episode reads all five results plus the facts report again, wakes when the wave merges or after 120 minutes, and finish is false.

Notes carry forward the trunk state, the six-rollup values, hand-computed cross-check scores (Arbitrum One 85 down to Scroll 45, no ties), and the plan for episodes 3 through 6: a docs-and-output wave with a scope-empty verification item, then fix waves, then finish only on a verification report showing passing tests and matching README output. Budget after this episode is 7 of 20 items used.

The decisions file for episode 2 is written at artifacts/goal/episodes/002/decisions.json and passes every shape limit the previous attempt broke.

What the inputs showed. The foundation wave merged cleanly: package configuration, MIT license, runtime-empty types and a frozen architecture document are in the trunk. The research item delivered evidenced L2BEAT facts for all six rollups with no stand-ins. Under the frozen rubric those facts score Arbitrum One 85, OP Mainnet 75, Base 70, Starknet 65, ZKsync Era 50 and Scroll 45, which I recorded in the notes for later verification.

What I decided. Two code waves that queue one after the other, spending 6 of the 18 remaining item slots:

    • implementation wave, three disjoint items: validator, scorer plus ranker, and CLI plus public entrypoint. Each brief points the worker at the trunk's architecture document, forbids any file outside its scope, and demands a result with files, exports, commands and pass/fail counts.
    • example-docs wave, run after the first merges so the real CLI exists: an example item that generates the expected output files byte for byte from the actual CLI, a README item that pastes real output, and an empty-scope check item that runs the whole test suite, every CLI path, every rubric branch and the dependency-free checks and reports findings as expected versus actual.

The next episode wakes when both waves settle or after six hours, reads all six results, and either runs a final recheck before finishing or dispatches scoped fix items. Notes carry the facts, expected scores, research caveats and the contingency plan.

Why the last attempt failed and what changed. It put specs over 1000 characters into item vars. This file keeps every var under 1000 characters and every filled brief under 3000, which is why the docs work became a separate batch with its own shorter brief and two items instead of one. All measurements were asserted by the build script before writing, and the output parsed back as one JSON object with the expected keys.

One thing to note: the git status check at the end failed only because the sandbox blocks the user's gitconfig. The deliverable itself is untracked under artifacts/ as the task requires, and nothing else in the workspace was changed outside the scratch folder.

  6. Item b03 0002Agent #15114 files changed

I wrote the scorer and ranker and their tests, and all 15 tests pass under Node 24. I did not commit anything.

    • src/score.ts: scoreRollup(rollup) scores the seven factors in the order and with the rules in docs/architecture.md, and returns a total from 0 to 100. Each factor's reason names the value it saw and the rule it applied. Council thresholds are compared by cross-multiplying rather than dividing, as the architecture doc recommends.
    • src/rank.ts: rankRollups(rollups) ranks by score from highest to lowest, then by name (plain string comparison). Rollups that tie on both keep their input order. Ranks run 1..n, an empty list returns [], and the caller's list is never changed.
    • test/scoring.test.ts (10 tests) covers:
      • every branch of each factor;
      • the exit-window boundaries 0, 6.99, 7, 29.99 and 30 days;
      • the council cases 1/1, 1/12, 2/3, 3/4, 7/12 and 12/12;
      • the rule that permissionless proving only counts when proofs are live;
      • totals of 0 and 100, the factor order, and the maximum points adding up to 100.
    • test/ranking.test.ts (5 tests) covers the ordering, the name tie-break, exact ties keeping their order, ranks 1..n, empty input, and not changing the input.

    Checks run:

    • node --test test/scoring.test.ts test/ranking.test.ts: 15 passed, 0 failed.
    • node src/score.ts and node src/rank.ts: both load without errors.

These files only depend on src/types.ts, so missing sibling modules didn't block anything. I didn't run the full npm test because the other workers' test files aren't in this checkout yet. Nothing deviates from docs/architecture.md.

The required result file is at artifacts/goal/batches/implementation/items/scoring/result.md, left untracked. The checkout also has untracked files I didn't create, such as .bashrc, .gitmodules, .claude/ and .idea; I left them alone.

  7. Item b03 0001Agent #16462 files changed

I've written the input validator for rollup-risk in src/validate.ts and its tests in test/validation.test.ts. All 24 tests pass, but only on Node 22.23.2 — Node 24 isn't on this machine.

What it does: validateRollups(input) checks the input against the rules in docs/architecture.md and src/types.ts. It doesn't stop at the first problem: every bad field in every row is reported, with paths like $[2].upgrades.threshold. If something that should hold other fields has the wrong type, it reports that one error and doesn't invent errors for what's inside. Valid input comes back as a new array holding the same objects, unchanged.

    Checks run:

    • node --test test/validation.test.ts: 24 tests, 24 pass, 0 fail.
    • node src/validate.ts: loads cleanly, exit 0.

The first test run had 2 failures, both mistakes in my tests rather than the validator. I fixed the tests and added one more check for inherited fields.

    What couldn't run:

    • The full test command, npm test, wasn't run because the other modules (scoring, ranking, the tool) belong to other workers and aren't in this checkout yet. The validator doesn't depend on them.
    • Nothing was tested on Node 24.

Two choices the spec left open:

    • Rows must be plain objects (built from {}, JSON.parse output, or a null prototype). Things like dates, maps and class instances are rejected as the wrong type, as your brief asked.
    • A valid name still counts toward duplicate detection even if its row has other errors.

There are no deviations from docs/architecture.md. I didn't commit anything. The checkout also has untracked dotfiles at the root (.bashrc, .gitmodules, .claude/ and others) that I didn't create; I left them alone, and they shouldn't go into the submission.

    Files are in artifacts/goal/batches/implementation/items/validator:

  9. Orchestrate 003Agent #47made 1 file

Nothing further is needed. The deliverable is written and verified, so this is the closing recap.

Outcome. The episode 3 decisions file exists at artifacts/goal/episodes/003/decisions.json, untracked, as one JSON object in the skill's shape. It spawns one code wave, names two results to read, wakes on that wave, and sets finish to false.

What I found. The implementation wave merged cleanly at trunk commit 2ee4c6a with all three items accepted. I cloned that trunk and verified it on Node 24.22.1 rather than trusting the reports:

    CheckResult
    npm test46 pass, 0 fail
Six-rollup example through the CLIArbitrum One 85, OP Mainnet 75, Base 70, Starknet 65, ZKsync Era 50, Scroll 45
--json on either side, --help, bad input, empty inputAll behave as the architecture specifies
Importing src/index.tsNo output, exports the three functions
DependenciesNone, only node: and relative imports

The code is done. What remains is the README, the example input with generated expected output, the sources document and the example test. Last episode's docs wave was refused only because the implementation wave was still running.

What I decided. One code batch named docs-examples with two disjoint items:

    • example writes examples/rollups.json in canonical form, generates expected.txt and expected.json from the real CLI, writes docs/example-sources.md with the L2BEAT caveats, and adds test/examples.test.ts comparing CLI output byte for byte.
    • readme writes README.md with the scoring method, schema, API, usage, the same canonical JSON example and the CLI's verbatim output.

Both briefs carry the fixed facts, the expected scores and an instruction to stop and report if the CLI prints anything else. Every filled brief is under 3,000 characters and every var under 1,000, enforced by the script that wrote the file. I dropped a separate read-only check item this wave since I verified the trunk myself, leaving 13 of 20 item slots.

Next episode. Read docs-examples/example and docs-examples/readme. If both merged green, spawn a single scope-empty final check on the merged trunk, then finish in episode 5. If anything failed, spawn disjoint fix items quoting the failing command and finish by episode 6. The notes in the decisions file spell this out, including the citations the write-up must carry.

The six-rollup example is in place, and its scores and ranking match the brief: Arbitrum One 85, OP Mainnet 75, Base 70, Starknet 65, ZKsync Era 50, Scroll 45. The new tests and npm test both pass.

Changed files (all inside the allowed paths):

    • examples/rollups.json: the six rows as supplied, in the given order and key order, with two-space indentation.
    • examples/expected.txt and examples/expected.json: made by running the CLI on the example, once for the table and once with --json.
    • test/examples.test.ts: 10 offline tests. They check that all six rows validate, the scores, the ranking, and that the CLI output equals both fixture files exactly, including the trailing newline.
    • docs/example-sources.md: where the dated snapshot came from, the six public L2BEAT project links, how each field was filled in, and all the caveats from the brief. It says plainly that every value is a supplied fact and none was checked against L2BEAT.

    Checks run

    • node --test test/examples.test.ts: 10 passed, 0 failed.
    • npm test: 56 passed, 0 failed (46 existing tests plus the 10 new ones).
    • I also worked each total out by hand from the scoring rules in docs/architecture.md.

Discrepancy in the brief: one caveat says Base's "validity label" simplifies its hybrid TEE/ZK system, but Base's supplied row says fraud proofs with permissionless proving. I kept the row as supplied, because the stated score of 70 needs permissionless proving to be true. The sources doc notes the mismatch. Fraud and validity proofs score the same 20 points, so the total doesn't change either way.

    Deferred until the wave merges:

    • Checking the example against the README, which is being written at the same time.
    • Re-running npm test on the merged code. If the wording of the scoring explanations changes, regenerate the two fixture files with the same two CLI commands.

The report is at artifacts/goal/batches/docs-and-examples-repair/items/example/result.md and is left untracked.

Episode 5 is decided and written. The goal is complete and I set finish to true.

What I found. The docs wave merged at trunk d8f2e544, and all five handed results report success with no discrepancies. I cloned that trunk and verified it myself on Node 24.21.0. Every file in the planned layout exists, there are no stray files, and the working tree is clean.

    Check on trunk d8f2e544Result
    npm test (node:test, offline)56 pass, 0 fail

--help, no args, missing file, malformed JSON, nine-field validation failure, empty arrayexit codes and stderr/stdout behavior as specified
Importing src/index.tsno output, exports the three public functions
package.json, LICENSE, importsno dependencies, no build, MIT, only node: and relative imports

What I decided. No new batch. A further read-only check worker would only repeat my verification and would consume the last episode, so the decisions file spawns nothing, requests the five known results for the write-up, and finishes. The notes carry the trunk commit, the verified evidence, the rubric, the citations to use, and an honest list of limitations for the write-up: the example is an L2BEAT snapshot read 2026-10-27 and not re-verified live, the documented modeling caveats (regular-path exit windows, council Safe only, Base's hybrid proof system recorded as fraud, Scroll's team multisig, ZKsync and Starknet inclusion paths), the validator worker tested on Node 22, and the README shows the table output while the JSON output lives in the committed example file.

Output. artifacts/goal/episodes/005/decisions.json is one JSON object in the reference shape, with notes under the 8,000-character limit. It is excluded from Git by the repository's own exclude rules, so it stays untracked for the daemon to upload. The scratch clone under test/scratch/ is also excluded and needs no cleanup. The untracked dotfiles in git status are sandbox masks, not files I created.

  14. WriteupAgent #2made 1 file

Those dotfile entries are character devices owned by nobody, dated before this task: the sandbox masks them with /dev/null mounts, so they are not files I created and will not be in the workspace outside the sandbox. Nothing to clean up. The deliverable is complete.

Done. The write-up is at artifacts/goal/writeup/report.md (15,087 bytes, under the 20,000 limit, left untracked for the daemon to upload). Nothing else in the workspace was changed; my clone of the trunk lives under test/scratch/, which is discarded.

What the report says. It names the repository and the final trunk commit d8f2e544, walks the nineteen tracked files one by one, lays out the seven-factor rubric and the ranking rule, shows the six-rollup example input with its scores and the exact table the CLI prints, gives the run commands for the tool and the library, and tables the test suites. It cites the five handed results plus the foundation wave and the research batch, and closes with the limits: the snapshot is from L2BEAT on 2026-10-27 and was not re-verified live, the Base proof label and other modeling simplifications, no npm publish, no tsconfig or CI by design.

What I verified myself before writing it. On a fresh clone of commit d8f2e544 with Node 22.23.3:

    • npm test passed 56 of 56 (validation 24, scoring 10, ranking 5, cli 7, examples 10).
    • The CLI table and both --json positions matched the committed fixtures byte for byte.
    • --help exited 0, no argument exited 1 with usage on stderr, a nine-error row exited 1 with one stderr line per issue and empty stdout, an empty array gave a header-only table and [].
    • Importing the entry point printed nothing and exported exactly the three functions.
    • package.json has no dependencies and no build script, and every import is a node: built-in or a relative path.

Next. A judge from another wallet reads the report against the goal. If it comes back with findings that need code changes, the recorded plan is one narrowly scoped code wave followed by a scope-less recheck.

  15. JudgeAgent #1263found 2 medium, 2 low

Only a harness-created .claude folder remains in the excluded scratch path, which git ignores. The review is complete.

Outcome: the deliverable largely meets the goal. The repository at commit d8f2e544 runs with no dependencies, passes 56 of 56 tests on Node 24.22.1, and its CLI output matches the committed fixtures byte for byte. The README, MIT license, validator, seven scoring factors, and ranking all behave as the report describes. I found no high-severity defect. Four substantiated findings are in .imd-findings.json:

    • Medium: CLI is a silent no-op on Node 24.0 and 24.1. The entry guard uses import.meta.main, which Node added in 24.2.0 as an experimental API. On Node 24.1.0 the CLI prints nothing and exits 0, and 9 of 56 tests fail. The package declares engines >=24 and the report says "Node 24 or newer" without disclosing this dependency.
    • Medium: ZKsync Era example row contradicts its cited source. The row records a 6 of 8 council, but the L2BEAT page states "4/8 to approve upgrades" and reserves 6/8 for freezes and emergency approval. With the source's threshold ZKsync Era scores 40 instead of 50 and ranks last, which changes the README table and both fixtures. The other five rollups match their L2BEAT pages.
    • Low: package metadata advertises entry points that cannot load after install. Node refuses to strip types under node_modules, so after npm pack and install, both importing the library and running the bin fail with ERR_UNSUPPORTED_NODE_MODULES_TYPE_STRIPPING. The report only says the package is "not published".
    • Low: README's Base caveat cites internal "supplied notes" and a "validity label" that are not in the repository. L2BEAT itself labels Base as fraud proofs with a ZK arm, so the row is correct and the caveat describes a conflict the source does not contain.

Each finding cites the report line, the claim as written, the source consulted, and a concrete reproduction. No repository files were changed. The scratch clone and downloaded Node binary used for verification were deleted.

    • mediumCLI is a silent no-op on Node 24.0.x and 24.1.x, which the package's engines range and the report's 'Node 24 or newer' claim includeartifacts/goal/writeup/report.md:97

Section 'How to run the tool' and the 'What is missing or limited' bullet about Node versions. src/cli.ts guards its entry point with if (import.meta.main). Per the Node 24 ESM documentation (https://nodejs.org/docs/latest-v24.x/api/esm.html#importmetamain), import.meta.main was 'Added in: v24.2.0' and is Stability 1.0 (early development).

On Node 24.0.x and 24.1.x it is undefined, so node src/cli.ts examples/rollups.json prints nothing and exits 0, --help prints nothing, and npm test fails 9 of 56 tests (all 7 CLI tests and both example CLI fixture tests). package.json declares "engines": { "node": ">=24" } and the README says 'use a current Node.js 24.x release or later', so these releases are inside the advertised support range.

The report's limits section says only that the trunk was not verified 'on every Node 24 patch release' and that 'Type stripping is a Node feature'; it does not say the CLI depends on an experimental API that the first Node 24 releases lack. A guard that also works on those releases (for example comparing process.argv[1] to the module path) or an engines range of >=24.2 with a matching README note would fix this.

Download https://nodejs.org/dist/v24.1.0/node-v24.1.0-linux-x64.tar.xz, extract, then in a clone of commit d8f2e544: <node24.1>/bin/node src/cli.ts examples/rollups.json -> expected the 7-line ranked table and exit 0; actual: empty stdout (only an ExperimentalWarning on stderr), exit 0. <node24.1>/bin/node --input-type=module -e 'console.log(import.meta.main)' prints undefined. <node24.1>/bin/node --test test/*.test.ts -> expected 56 pass; actual 'tests 56, pass 47, fail 9' with failures 'prints a ranked table', 'prints ranked JSON with --json before or after the path', 'prints help without reading an input file', 'reports file and JSON parsing failures only on stderr', 'reports every validation issue only on stderr', 'prints only the table header for an empty array', 'importing the public entrypoint has no output or CLI side effects', 'CLI table output equals expected.txt byte for byte', 'CLI JSON output equals expected.json byte for byte, flag on either side'. On Node 24.22.1 the same commands give the table and 56/56.

    • mediumZKsync Era example row uses council 6/8, but the cited L2BEAT page gives 4/8 for approving upgrades; corrected row scores 40 and ranks last, changing the README output and both fixturesartifacts/goal/writeup/report.md:76

Section 'The example and its output', and the README 'Six-rollup snapshot' / examples/rollups.json / docs/example-sources.md. The report says the snapshot was 'read from L2BEAT on 2026-10-27' and docs/example-sources.md says upgrades records 'the council Safe's own signing threshold'.

The cited source https://l2beat.com/scaling/projects/zksync-era (fetched 2026-10-27) states the Security Council has '8 representatives of different orgs' with thresholds '4/8 to approve upgrades · 3/8 soft freeze · 6/8 hard freeze, unfreeze and emergency approval', and that the standard upgrade path ends with 'approval by the Guardians or 4 SecurityCouncil participants'.

The goal's field is the threshold of the council that can upgrade the rollup, and 6/8 is the emergency-approval and freeze threshold, not the upgrade-approval threshold. The same row records the regular-path exit window (5 days), so it mixes the regular path for one field with the emergency path for another, contrary to the sources document's own 'exit windows are regular-path values' rule.

The other five rows match their L2BEAT pages (Arbitrum One 9/12 and 10d, OP Mainnet 10/13 and no exit window, Base 8/11, Starknet 9/12 and 7d, Scroll 3-of-4 multisig).

With the source's 4/8 the upgrades factor gives 5 points instead of 15, ZKsync Era totals 40 instead of 50 and drops below Scroll (45), so the README's expected table, examples/expected.txt, examples/expected.json and the report's table are all wrong against the cited source. docs/example-sources.md already states that 'None' of the values were corroborated against L2BEAT, which the report mentions only as the example possibly going 'stale'.

Check: open https://l2beat.com/scaling/projects/zksync-era, Governance profile table, Security Council row: '4/8 to approve upgrades · 3/8 soft freeze · 6/8 hard freeze, unfreeze and emergency approval'.

Claim as written: examples/rollups.json ZKsync Era "upgrades": { "type": "securityCouncil", "threshold": 6, "members": 8 }, score 50, rank 5.

Then copy examples/rollups.json, change the ZKsync Era threshold from 6 to 4, and run node src/cli.ts <copy>: actual output ranks Scroll 5th with 45 and ZKsync Era 6th with 40; --json reason for its upgrades factor is 'Security council with threshold 4 of 8: ratio below 2/3 earns 5 points.'

Expected: example data that matches the L2BEAT page it cites, with the README table and fixtures regenerated to match.

    • lowpackage.json exports and bin point at .ts files that Node refuses to type-strip under node_modules, so the package cannot be imported or run after any npm installartifacts/goal/writeup/report.md:152

Section 'What is missing or limited' and the 'package.json' row of the file table. The goal asks for an open-source TypeScript library and CLI. package.json declares "exports": "./src/index.ts" and "bin": { "rollup-risk": "./src/cli.ts" }, which the report presents as the package's library and CLI entry points.

Node's type stripping is disabled for files under node_modules (ERR_UNSUPPORTED_NODE_MODULES_TYPE_STRIPPING), so once the package is installed from a tarball, Git URL or the registry, both import 'rollup-risk' and the rollup-risk bin crash on load with Node 24.22.1.

The report says the package is 'not published' and 'meant to be run from a source checkout' but does not say that the exports and bin fields it lists are unusable from node_modules under the no-build constraint, nor does the README warn against npm install-ing it. Either the report and README should state this limit plainly, or the package metadata should not advertise entry points that cannot load.

In a clone of d8f2e544 on Node 24.22.1: npm pack (produces rollup-risk-0.1.0.tgz), then in an empty directory npm init -y && npm install ./rollup-risk-0.1.0.tgz, create use.mjs containing import { scoreRollup } from 'rollup-risk'; console.log(typeof scoreRollup); and run node use.mjs.

      Expected: prints 'function'.

Actual: exit 1 with 'Error [ERR_UNSUPPORTED_NODE_MODULES_TYPE_STRIPPING]: Stripping types is currently unsupported for files under node_modules, for ".../node_modules/rollup-risk/src/index.ts"'. ./node_modules/.bin/rollup-risk --help fails the same way for src/cli.ts instead of printing the usage line.

    • lowREADME's Base caveat cites 'supplied notes' and a 'validity label' that are not in the repository and that the cited L2BEAT page contradictsartifacts/goal/writeup/report.md:148

Section 'What is missing or limited' and the README 'Six-rollup snapshot' caveats.

The report admits the wave-4 brief 'wrongly called it a validity label', yet the shipped README still tells readers: 'The supplied notes describe Base's validity label as a simplification of its hybrid TEE/ZK system, while the supplied input row specifies "fraud" ... that equality does not resolve the difference in descriptions.' docs/example-sources.md repeats it ('the brief calls this a "validity label"').

A reader of the open-source repository has no 'supplied notes' or 'brief' to consult, and the cited source https://l2beat.com/scaling/projects/base (fetched 2026-10-27) labels Base's state validation 'Fraud proofs (1R, ZK)' with a 5-day challenge period, so the fraud row agrees with L2BEAT and there is no unresolved label disagreement to caveat.

The README should drop the reference to internal notes and state the L2BEAT label directly (fraud proofs with a TEE arm and a ZK arm since the 2026 Azul upgrade).

Check: README.md 'Six-rollup snapshot' third caveat bullet and docs/example-sources.md 'Base's proof label is simplified' bullet.

Claim as written: 'The supplied notes describe Base's validity label as a simplification of its hybrid TEE/ZK system' and 'the brief calls this a "validity label"'.

Source: https://l2beat.com/scaling/projects/base says 'Fraud proofs (1R, ZK)', '5d challenge period', with the Azul multiproof system of a TEE arm and an SP1 ZK arm; it does not describe a validity-proof label.

Expected: a caveat that refers only to the cited source and states that L2BEAT itself classes Base as fraud proofs; actual: a caveat that cites documents absent from the repository and asserts a label conflict the source does not contain.
