Read the complete SQF below. ACCEPT only if the question can be judged fairly after its deadline by independent researchers who may use different sources and methods, and DECLINE if it cannot. Also DECLINE if only one named source or data feed can settle it: that is an attestation, not a judging mandate. If you DECLINE, return a corrected SQF in the same report. Write the verdict as a line "Verdict: ACCEPT" or "Verdict: DECLINE".

§question

Will Netflix report third-quarter 2026 revenue of at least $12.90 billion in its earnings release published on October 20, 2026?

§rule

YES if Netflix's Q3 2026 earnings release or shareholder letter, published on or about October 20, 2026, reports total Q3 2026 revenue of $12.90 billion or more (as reported, before any rounding by third parties); NO if the reported Q3 2026 revenue is below $12.90 billion; INVALID only if Netflix does not publish Q3 2026 results by 2026-10-21T10:00:00Z.

resolution:resolved after the deadline by the IMD oracle panel from public, authoritative reports of the event; the panel must agree; report inability instead of guessing; INVALID only when the rule says so

Judging mandate review — Netflix Q3 2026 revenue ≥ $12.90B

Verdict: ACCEPT

Reviewed on 2026-10-20, before the SQF deadline (2026-10-20T22:00:00Z = unix 1792533600, checked consistent).

Why it can be judged fairly by independent researchers

  1. Clear, binary, numeric threshold. YES if reported total Q3 2026 revenue ≥ $12.90 billion, NO if below. No subjective element.

  2. The outcome is published and repeated in many places, so researchers do not need to rely on one feed. The figure comes from Netflix's own release, but it can be checked separately in:

    • Netflix investor relations (ir.netflix.net): shareholder letter plus consolidated statements of operations;
    • the SEC Form 8-K (Exhibit 99.1) that Netflix files with its quarterly results on EDGAR;
    • wire and press coverage (Reuters, AP, CNBC, Bloomberg, and others) published within minutes;
    • the later Form 10-Q for the quarter.

    Netflix's own number is the event being judged, not a third-party attestation. Researchers can get it through different channels and compare them, so the "single named source" decline rule does not apply.

  3. The timing fits the deadline. Netflix announced it would release Q3 2026 results "after the market close on Oct. 20, 2026" (InsiderFinance; company notice PDF on Netflix IR CDN, also on Finviz). Netflix usually publishes at about 1:01 p.m. PT (20:01Z). That is about 2 hours before the 22:00Z deadline.

  4. The INVALID condition is explicit. It applies if no Q3 2026 results are published by 2026-10-21T10:00:00Z.

Facts (sourced)

  • Release date: October 20, 2026, after the market close. Sources: InsiderFinance; the Netflix announcement PDF, whose link text points to the PR Newswire release "netflix-to-announce-third-quarter-2026-financial-results". I could not extract the PDF's own text because its streams are compressed.
  • Company guidance for Q3 2026 revenue: about $12.86B, given with Q2 results on July 16, 2026 (InsiderFinance; Mezha). Netflix described it as 12% reported growth and 11% FX-neutral (Hudson Labs).
  • Consensus estimate: about $12.879B (Hudson Labs).

Inferences

  • The $12.90B threshold is slightly above both guidance and consensus, so the question is genuinely uncertain. That is good for a market and does not affect whether it can be judged.
  • Because the result is likely to land near the threshold, rounding matters (see below).

Uncertainties / weaknesses (not grounds to decline)

  • Netflix's own rounding. The rule excludes rounding "by third parties". Netflix's narrative text, however, may itself say "$12.9 billion" when the statement of operations shows, say, $12,895,xxx thousand. Judges should use the exact total revenues line in the consolidated statements of operations (in thousands, in the shareholder letter or the 8-K Exhibit 99.1).
  • Date wording. The question says "on October 20, 2026"; the rule says "on or about". This only matters if Netflix moves the release. The INVALID cutoff (2026-10-21T10:00Z) falls after the 22:00Z deadline, so in that edge case the panel would have to wait past the deadline. This does not make the question ambiguous.
  • Later restatements. Any later 10-Q revision should not override the release as reported. The rule's "as reported" wording already implies this.
  • Secondary sources. The release date and guidance above come from secondary aggregators, which agree with each other. The primary Netflix PDF could not be read as text here.

Unanswered questions

  • The actual Q3 2026 revenue is unknown at review time, because results are due after this review. This review does not predict the outcome.

Corrected SQF

Not required (ACCEPT). Optional clarification for §rule: "Use the 'Revenues' line of the consolidated statements of operations for the three months ended September 30, 2026, as published by Netflix (shareholder letter or SEC Form 8-K Exhibit 99.1)."

    Verdict: ACCEPT. I've saved the report to artifacts/acceptance.md and left it untracked so it can be uploaded. I also wrote a short README.md, but it is not committed: every shell command failed because the sandbox couldn't start (apply-seccomp: write /proc/self/setgroups … Permission denied). Git doesn't work here, so the README needs to be committed separately.

    Why I accepted:

    • Clear threshold: the question is a plain yes/no on reported revenue at or above $12.90B, with an explicit condition for when it's INVALID.
    • More than one way to check it: the number comes from Netflix, but researchers can confirm it in the shareholder letter, the SEC filing that accompanies the results, wire coverage and the later quarterly filing. Netflix's own figure is the event being judged, so the "only one named source" rule doesn't apply.
    • Timing works: Netflix announced results for after the market close on October 20, 2026 (about 20:01Z), roughly two hours before the 22:00Z deadline.
    • A genuinely open question: Netflix guided to about $12.86B for the quarter and the consensus estimate is about $12.879B, so the threshold sits just above both.

    Weaknesses noted in the report (not reasons to decline):

    • Rounding: Netflix's own text might say "$12.9 billion" when the exact figure is just under $12.90B. The report recommends judging from the exact revenue line in Netflix's financial statements, and suggests an optional clarification to the rule along those lines.
    • Date wording: the question says "on October 20" while the rule says "on or about". It only matters if Netflix moves the release.
    • Source quality: the release date and guidance figures come from secondary sites that agree with each other. I couldn't read the text of Netflix's own announcement PDF.

    The report keeps facts, inferences, uncertainties and open questions in separate sections. It doesn't predict the result, which hadn't been published when I reviewed it.
