Build and deploy NIGHT WATCHERS, symbol WATCH, the NIGHT FROGS Gen 2: a holder forges exactly 10 NIGHT FROGS into 1 Night Watcher; a forge that burns NIGHT FROG #1 also makes The Captain, token 0. Fully onchain ERC-721 (no fungible token) on Ethereum, OpenZeppelin v5, ERC-2981 5% to 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5. Total supply: at most 51 NFTs (50 Night Watchers and The Captain), minted only by forge(), none pre-minted. Transfers: plain ERC-721, no fee or limit. Outside services: none; it only reads the contracts below. Not upgradeable or pausable. The owner (0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5) has one power only: setRenderer, once.

SOURCE (read only): NIGHT FROGS 0x55b8c762f1b86fe1d5406edaaae0f8ecf3688a0c (500 frogs, revealed, randomWord() is its VRF word, no burn). Its renderer 0x4D9BfbafE31eC18E9D3066F1475e24906d155D67: traits(id, word) returns uint8[7] (Background, Body, Skin, Mouth, Eyes, Headwear, Accessory), traitName(layer, i) returns string.

FORGE: forge(uint256[10] ids, uint8 minTier) returns (uint256 tokenId). Reverts while no renderer is set.

  1. 10 different ids in 1-500, each with ownerOf(id) == msg.sender (owned, not just approved); the caller has setApprovalForAll(this, true).
  2. Each moves with transferFrom(msg.sender, 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD, id), forever; this contract never holds a frog.
  3. Fee: FEE = 2e18 IMD (0xd34a99bc0f67ae1bbd63c660e6d0b0dd03e263b7), an immutable constructor argument; fee() returns it. FEE/2 moves from msg.sender to IMD's BurnExecutor 0xe29386719C155B6847aD5a4E97C6674f10ffc750 and FEE - FEE/2 to 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5, both by IMD transferFrom. This contract never holds IMD.
  4. points = sum of pointsOf(id). pointsOf(i) = CODES[(WORDS[(i-1)/85] >> (((i-1)%85)*3)) & 7], CODES = [1,2,4,8,16], WORDS = [0x364008349249349249249249249a49449249249249a49b6db6db6db6e36db6dc, 0x10d002100850324120100a2804490414482102502e1652201820218009288610, 0x1482049202400002448010481201408240043063088000000021002208202000, 0x8a20220010b40004040065040000248105b05909808a2996c80a2881642283, 0x24092800c00204c90516090c021908004a05100a00b0434182046c1023849820, 0xe001b00020100a6c01116424c01008c02422480002420040c84610c8] (each frog's rarity tier: Legendary 16, Epic 8, Rare 4, Uncommon 2, Common 1; at least 8 for #2-25 and 4 for #26-77). Constants.
  5. tier = 5 if points >= 128, 4 if >= 80, 3 if >= 40, 2 if >= 20, else 1 (1 I Shift Lead, 2 II Foreman, 3 III Supervisor, 4 IV Chief, 5 V Night Boss). Revert if tier < minTier.
  6. traits: per layer, among the 10 frogs' renderer.traits(id, randomWord()), the index with the lowest COUNT[layer][index], ties to the lower index. COUNT = [[122,78,97,86,40,77],[159,120,73,76,53,19],[161,98,61,33,57,65,18,7],[134,95,82,67,92,30],[206,44,65,35,55,51,36,8],[89,100,90,27,92,38,5,59],[82,95,138,69,48,68]].
  7. _mint tokenId = nextId (1, 2, 3 ..., at most 50) to msg.sender; store tier, uint16 points, uint16[10] inputs, uint8[7] traits, uint64 forgedAt; emit Forged(address indexed owner, uint256 indexed tokenId, uint8 tier, uint16 points, uint16[10] inputs). nonReentrant, CEI.
  8. If the 10 include #1: also _mint token 0, The Captain, to msg.sender, stored the same way with tier 6, the same points and inputs, and traits = renderer.traits(1, randomWord()); captainForged becomes true; emit Forged for it too. It can happen once (#1 burns). Views: nextId(); captainForged(); forgeOf(tokenId) returns (uint8 tier, uint16 points, uint16[10] inputs, uint8[7] traits, uint64 forgedAt); pointsOf(frogId); tierFor(points); preview(uint256[10]) returns (tier, points, traits) with every check but ownership; totalSupply().

setName(tokenId, name): token owner, tier 5 or 6, once; 1-16 chars of A-Z 0-9 space . - without leading/trailing space. nameOf(tokenId) ("" if unset). Emits Named.

ART: setRenderer(address r, address skin): owner only, exactly once, both must have code; emits RendererSet(r, skin); renderer() and skin() return them. Both are ordered from IMD separately: NightWatchRenderer svg(uint256 n, uint8 tier, uint8[7] traits, string label, uint16[10] inputs, uint16 points) view returns (string), which always ends with '', and NightWatchSkin layer(uint256 n, uint8 tier, uint16[10] inputs) view returns (string). IMAGE = the renderer's svg without its last 6 bytes (''), then skin.layer(n, tier, inputs), then ''. tokenURI(n) = 'data:application/json;base64,' + base64 of JSON: name "Night Watcher #" ("The Captain" for 0), description "NIGHT FROGS Gen 2, forged from 10 NIGHT FROGS, a seat in the Night Watch. Tier ." (for 0: "The one Night Watcher forged from NIGHT FROG #1, the Zero-Sleep Captain. Tier C Captain."), image 'data:image/svg+xml;base64,' + base64(IMAGE) for renderer.svg(n, tier, traits, LABEL, inputs, points) with LABEL = nameOf(n) if set, else the tier name in capitals (CAPTAIN for tier 6); attributes Tier (" "), Forge Points (number), Forged From (the 10 ids as "#a #b ..."), the 7 inherited traitNames by layer, Name if set.

Foundry mainnet-fork tests: every tier with an impersonated holder; a forge with #1 mints token 0 (tier 6, #1's traits) and its usual token; reverts (duplicate, id 0 or > 500, someone else's frog even approved, minTier, no approval or allowance, no renderer yet); frogs end at dEaD; each forge sends exactly 1 IMD to the BurnExecutor and 1 IMD to 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5; setRenderer once and owner only; tokenURI is valid JSON with mock renderer and skin, and its image is the renderer's svg minus '' + the layer + ''; setName; fuzz preview == forge. Verify on Etherscan + Sourcify.

Work

  1. Posted18 minto the first attempt
  2. Build contract projectAgent #880385 files changed

NIGHT WATCHERS is built, tested and committed on main (commit 692e6d0). forge build, forge test and forge fmt --check all pass with solc 0.8.26 pinned in foundry.toml.

    What was delivered

    • src/NightWatchers.sol: ERC-721 "NIGHT WATCHERS" / WATCH on OpenZeppelin v5.4.0 with ERC-2981 at 5% to the treasury, ReentrancyGuard, and no Ownable. The owner is an immutable constructor argument whose only power is setRenderer, once, both targets needing code. The forge takes 10 distinct frog ids in 1 to 500, requires ownerOf == msg.sender plus operator approval, computes points from the packed rarity words, tier from the thresholds, and per-layer rarest trait from the COUNT table with ties to the lower index. It mints nextId (capped at 50), stores the record, emits Forged, mints The Captain at token 0 with tier 6 and frog #1's own traits when #1 is among the inputs, then sends frogs to dEaD and splits the fee half to the BurnExecutor and half to the treasury via IMD transferFrom. Views, preview, setName with the character rules, and the fully onchain tokenURI with the spliced skin layer are all in place.
    • Constructor takes two arguments only, (address owner_, uint256 fee_), calls no contract, and the runtime is 16,242 bytes with no reachable DELEGATECALL, CALLCODE or SELFDESTRUCT, scanned with the same logic as the protected test.
    • test/NightWatchers.t.sol: 49 unit tests with mocks etched at the real mainnet addresses, covering every tier, the Captain forge, every listed revert, exact fee split, the 50-forge sell-out, the full 500-frog points table, setRenderer, setName, JSON-parsed tokenURI and image splice, and the fuzz preview == forge run with the verifier's seed.
    • test/NightWatchersFork.t.sol: 13 mainnet-fork tests at block 26,244,100 with impersonated real holders, confirming the live frog burn, the real IMD fee flow and frog #1's real trait names on The Captain. When no RPC is reachable, fork creation fails and every fork test skips, so the offline verifier sees 49 passed and 13 skipped. I confirmed that path by pointing the endpoint at an unreachable address.
    • script/Deploy.s.sol, README.md with assumptions, constructor values ($owner, 2e18), the single after-launch step and the Etherscan plus Sourcify verification commands. forge-std and OpenZeppelin are vendored as plain files under lib/, no submodules.

    Things to know

    • The fork endpoint in foundry.toml is the public drpc archive node; publicnode did not serve historical state. It is only used when a fork test runs with network access.
    • Verification on Etherscan and Sourcify, and the actual deployment, belong to the IMD launch and its deployer. This job broadcast nothing and the commands are documented in the README.
    • Only setRenderer remains after launch, and it is irreversible, so the owner should check the renderer and skin output on mainnet before calling it.

  3. ManifestAgent #12401 file changedsent back

Done. I wrote launch.json for the accepted NIGHT WATCHERS implementation and verified the tree builds and tests pass.

    What the manifest contains

    • One contract, NightWatchers, the only deployable application contract in the accepted source. Everything else under src is an interface, and the mocks and deploy script are test scaffolding.
    • Two constructor arguments in declaration order: $owner for the owner address, which resolves to the launch owner the brief names, and the fee as a static word.
    ArgumentValue
    owner_ (address)$owner
    fee_ (uint256)2000000000000000000 (2 IMD)
    • Notes explain that every other value is a bytecode constant, that the constructor makes no external call, what the owner's single power is, and the post-launch setRenderer and verification steps.

    Checks

    • The manifest has exactly the keys kind, contracts and notes, string arguments, a valid identifier, and notes under the length cap.
    • forge build succeeds. The 49 unit tests and the 13 mainnet-fork tests all pass with the verifier's fuzz seed.
    • git status shows launch.json as the only change.

  4. Audit flowAgent #67found 1 info

I found no defect in the contract itself in my area (Execution Trace, Periphery, First Principles). The review file .imd-findings.json has one info-level finding, about the tests, and a coverage row for all 8 entry points: every one is marked holds. Three invariant rows and a tokenURI/imageOf row are added. No repository files were changed; I deleted the scratch test and the cache/ and out/ build folders afterwards.

    What I ran

    • Test suite: all 62 tests pass, including the 13 mainnet-fork tests (pinned at block 26,244,100).
    • Live data, all 500 frogs: every frog decodes to a valid points value (1, 2, 4, 8 or 16), and the tier floors in the brief hold for #2–25 and #26–77. Every trait index the renderer returns has an entry in COUNT, and COUNT matches the frogs' real trait distribution exactly. Points across the collection are 189 / 107 / 109 / 70 / 25 from Common to Legendary.
    • Trait names: none contains a character that would break the JSON in tokenURI.
    • Constants: all addresses match the brief, and the WORDS and COUNT values match it byte for byte.

forge traced from start to finish

    • The input checks behave as specified: id range, duplicates (including ids above 255), ownership rather than just approval, approval for all, minimum tier, renderer set, and the cap of 50.
    • Tokens are minted and recorded before any frog or IMD moves, under the reentrancy guard. A failure anywhere reverts the whole forge.
    • preview and forge use the same calculation, so they always agree.
    • The Captain (token 0) can only be minted once: frog #1 ends at dEaD and nobody can move it from there. Supply cannot go past 51.
    • The fork tests confirm the fee goes exactly 1 IMD to the BurnExecutor and 1 IMD to the treasury, and the contract never holds a frog or any IMD.

    The other entry points

    • setRenderer: owner only, works once, and both addresses must have code.
    • setName: owner of the token only, tier 5 or 6, once. The allowed characters make the name safe inside the JSON.
    • Transfers and approvals: plain OpenZeppelin ERC-721, not overridden.
    • Image and metadata: the image is built as the brief specifies (the renderer's SVG minus its last 6 bytes, then the skin layer, then </svg>), and the JSON fields match.

The finding (info): in test/NightWatchersFork.t.sol:37, if the fork can't be created, every fork test is skipped instead of failing. A run with no network reports "0 failed, 13 skipped", which can be mistaken for a pass. These are the only tests that use the real IMD token, the real frog transfers to dEaD and the real trait renderer.

    Static-analysis leads, all dismissed:

    • The "uninitialized local" warnings are variables meant to start at zero.
    • The "reentrancy" warning at line 174 is about read-only calls, which can't re-enter.
    • The "unsafe cast" at line 254 can't overflow: points top out at 160.
    • The unchecked return at line 327 is ignored on purpose.
    • Using _mint instead of _safeMint is what the brief asks for.

One thing that isn't a defect: frog #1 is currently held by the owner/treasury address. If all 50 Night Watchers are forged before #1 is used, The Captain can never be minted. The brief allows that, since it says "at most 51".

    • infoMainnet-fork suite silently skips (not fails) when the fork cannot be created, so brief-required real-contract coverage is not enforcedtest/NightWatchersFork.t.sol:37

The brief requires Foundry mainnet-fork tests (every tier with an impersonated holder, the captain forge, frogs at dEaD, exact 1 IMD + 1 IMD to the BurnExecutor and treasury). setUp swallows any createSelectFork failure and every test then calls vm.skip(true). A run where the fork is unreachable reports 13 skipped and 0 failed, so a CI or verifier run with no RPC cannot tell 'fork behaviour verified' from 'fork behaviour never executed'.

This is the only place the real IMD token, real NIGHT FROGS transferFrom-to-dEaD and the real renderer's traits() are tested; the unit suite uses mocks for all three. This is a test-suite gap, not a contract defect: with an RPC available all 13 fork tests pass at block 26,244,100.

Run forge test --match-path test/NightWatchersFork.t.sol with the mainnet RPC alias unreachable (for example, no network).

Expected: the run fails, or reports clearly that the required fork coverage did not execute.

      Actual: 'Suite result: ok.

0 passed; 0 failed; 13 skipped', the same exit status as a green run.

With the RPC reachable it reports 13 passed.

  5. Audit mathAgent #429found 1 low

The review is complete. The findings file is valid JSON with one finding and 14 coverage rows, the scratch tests are deleted, and the working tree has no stray files.

Outcome: the arithmetic in src/NightWatchers.sol holds. I found one low-severity boundary defect and no math defects.

    What I verified

    • Rarity words. Decoded the six packed words independently in a scratch test. All 500 codes are in 0..4, the distribution is 189/107/109/70/25, frog #1 is legendary, #2–25 are at least epic and #26–77 at least rare. The maximum shift is 252 bits, inside the word.
    • COUNT table against mainnet. On a fork at the pinned block I called the real renderer for all 500 frogs. Every index falls inside its layer's row, and every per-index count equals the table byte. The 0xff padding is never reached, so the rarest-trait pick with tie to the lower index is exact. Trait names contain no JSON-breaking bytes.
    • Tier and supply boundaries. Points sum to at most 160, so the uint16 cast is safe. Thresholds 20/40/80/128 match the brief. The 50th forge succeeds and the 51st reverts with SoldOut. The Captain can only mint once because #1 ends at dEaD.
    • Fee split. With a 2e18 fee each leg is exactly 1e18 on the real IMD token. Neither IMD nor NIGHT FROGS has an ERC-1967 implementation slot, so transfer semantics cannot change under a proxy.
    • Duplicate bitmap. Ids below 256 use bit id, ids 256..500 use bit id-256 in a second word, with no overlap.
    • Static-analysis leads. The uninitialized-local, unsafe-cast and reentrancy lines do not reproduce: the locals are intentional zero accumulators, the cast is bounded by 160, and the pre-mint calls are static calls to fixed addresses under the reentrancy guard.
    • Both the unit suite and the mainnet-fork suite pass.

The one finding (low). imageOf at src/NightWatchers.sol:403 discards the last 6 bytes of the renderer output without checking they are </svg>. A renderer whose SVG ends with a trailing newline produces an image starting <svg ...><<g, which is malformed XML, and because setRenderer is one-shot it cannot be repaired. Reproduced with the repository mocks. The fix is to strip only when the tail equals </svg>, which preserves the specified behaviour for a conforming renderer.

Not covered. I did not read the NIGHT FROGS source for admin functions that could move a frog out of dEaD. That sits outside the math area, and the fork tests show standard ERC-721 behaviour at the pinned block.

    • lowimageOf strips the last 6 bytes of the renderer's svg without checking they are '</svg>', so a renderer that ends with trailing whitespace yields a permanently malformed imagesrc/NightWatchers.sol:403

Boundary (external return value consumed by caller logic). The splice assumes the last 6 bytes returned by renderer.svg(...) are exactly '' and blindly discards them. The NightWatchRenderer is ordered separately and setRenderer can be called exactly once, so if its output ends with '' followed by a single byte of whitespace (a trailing newline is the common case for generated SVG), the splice removes '/svg>\n' and leaves the '<' of the closing tag in place.

The skin layer is then concatenated right after that dangling '<', producing '<<g ...' which is not well-formed XML, and every tokenURI of every token is broken forever (no second setRenderer, no fallback). The length guard only handles the under-6-bytes case; it does not check the content of the tail.

The brief states the renderer 'always ends with ', so this is a hardening of a trusted boundary rather than a violation of the agreed design, but the cost of the failure is permanent and the check is cheap. Minimal fix preserving the spec: strip the 6 bytes only when they equal '' (optionally after trimming trailing whitespace), otherwise keep the svg whole (as the <6 byte path already does) and append the layer and ''.

      State: NightWatchers deployed; owner calls setRenderer(r, skin) where r.svg(...) returns '\n' (47 bytes, ends with '' + 0x0a) and skin.layer(1,1,inputs) returns ''.

A holder forges frogs [78,80,81,82,86,88,90,96,97,98] with minTier 0 and gets token 1.

Expected (spec: IMAGE = svg without its closing '', then the layer, then ''): ''.

Actual imageOf(1) (verified with a scratch Foundry test using the repository mocks for frogs, frog renderer, IMD and skin): '<' - note the '<<g', which is malformed XML, so tokenURI's image data URI does not render.

Because setRenderer reverts with RendererAlreadySet on a second call, the owner cannot repair it.

  6. Audit permissionsAgent #125found 1 info

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json is written. The tree is unchanged apart from that file (git status is clean; the scratch test was removed).

Outcome: no defects in the assigned area. The access-control, trust-gap and asymmetry checks all hold on the code as it stands. The file records one info-level trust assumption and a coverage row for every entry point.

    What I verified

    • Confused deputy, the main access risk. The contract accumulates operator approvals on NIGHT FROGS and IMD allowances from every holder. forge only ever moves msg.sender's assets: it checks ownerOf(id) == msg.sender for each frog, transfers with transferFrom(msg.sender, dEaD, id), and pulls IMD from msg.sender. A scratch test confirmed a third party with its own approval cannot spend another holder's.
    • Real dependencies, from their verified Sourcify sources. NIGHT FROGS is plain OpenZeppelin ERC-721 with no transfer hooks, an immutable renderer and a VRF word that is set once and already revealed. IMD is a plain OpenZeppelin ERC-20 LayerZero OFT with no fee, pause or blocklist, so the "exactly 1 IMD each" split holds. The frog renderer's trait index ranges match the COUNT table layout.
    • Asymmetries. preview and forge share one code path; forge adds only minTier, approval and ownership checks. The Captain is still minted when the 50th forge carries frog #1 at the cap, giving 51 tokens. setName rejects approved operators and accepts the new owner after a transfer. ERC-2981 has no setter. No receive or fallback.
    • Static-analysis leads. All checked and dismissed: the "uninitialized locals" are zero-initialised memory arrays, the uint16 cast is bounded at 160, and the "state change after external call" follows view calls to constant trusted contracts under nonReentrant.
    • Tests. The 49 unit tests and all 13 mainnet-fork tests pass against the live block.

The one recorded note (info, not a defect). setRenderer is owner-only and exactly once, as the brief requires. It checks only that both addresses have code. If the renderer or skin reverts or misbehaves, every tokenURI breaks permanently while forge keeps burning frogs and taking fees, and nobody can fix it. This is the requested design, so it is logged as the trust assumption the owner must validate on mainnet before the single call.

Not reached in depth. The Boundary and Math areas (SVG splice leniency, points table decoding) belong to other specialists; I only confirmed they do not interact with access or asymmetry.

    • infoTrust assumption: renderer and skin are set once and trusted forever; a faulty pair permanently breaks tokenURI while forge keeps mintingsrc/NightWatchers.sol:151

Not a defect: this is the requested design (owner's single power is setRenderer, exactly once) and is documented here as the one privileged trust assumption in the access-control model. setRenderer only checks that both addresses have code; it does not exercise svg()/layer().

Once set, nothing can replace them. imageOf()/tokenURI() call renderer.svg and skin.layer live, so if either reverts, runs out of gas, is a proxy later upgraded, or returns output not ending in '', every token's metadata is broken (or malformed) with no recovery, while forge() (which never calls them) continues to burn frogs, pull 2 IMD and mint. The holders' recourse is nil; the owner's recourse is nil.

Operationally the owner must validate both contracts on mainnet before the one call (the README says so).

All other access paths hold: forge acts only on msg.sender's frogs and IMD (ownerOf == msg.sender per id, transferFrom(msg.sender, dEaD), IMD transferFrom(msg.sender,...)), so the operator approvals the contract accumulates cannot be spent by a third party; setName is owner-only (approval/operator rejected); ERC-2981 receiver/rate have no setter; no receive/fallback; owner is immutable and non-zero.

Mocks etched at the hardcoded addresses (as in test/NightWatchers.t.sol).

      1. Owner 0x6C4c...19b5 calls setRenderer(R, S) where R is a contract whose svg(...) reverts (e.g. revert("boom")) and S is any contract with code: succeeds, emits RendererSet.

      2. Holder forges 10 frogs: forge returns 1, frogs are at dEaD, 2 IMD moved.

      3. tokenURI(1) and imageOf(1) revert.

      4. Owner calls setRenderer(R2, S2) with a working renderer: reverts RendererAlreadySet.

Expected (by the brief): exactly this; recorded so the judge and owner see the operational consequence.

Verified with a scratch Foundry test (4 passing probes incl. this one) that is not kept.

  7. Write foundry testsAgent #8742 files changed

I added two test files. forge build and the full forge test pass with the verifier's fuzz seed: 87 tests across 4 suites. I found no defects in src/NightWatchers.sol, so I wrote no .imd-findings.json.

test/NightWatchersInvariant.t.sol: random sequences of calls by three actors. The calls are:

    • valid forges, forges that include #1, and forges with arbitrary ids (0 or 501, duplicates, someone else's frog, a frog already burned);
    • frog transfers, Night Watcher transfers by the owner and by strangers;
    • switching approval and allowance on and off;
    • setName attempts.

Each call is checked against an independent model of the brief's rules, and any mismatch is counted. Runs are set to 64 × depth 80 in the file itself. The invariants:

    • Model agrees: the mismatch count stays 0.
    • Supply: nextId equals forges + 1 and never passes 51, totalSupply equals forges plus the Captain (at most 51), and the actors' balances add up to totalSupply.
    • Custody and fees: the contract never holds IMD, frogs or ETH. The BurnExecutor and the treasury each hold exactly 1 IMD per forge, total IMD is conserved, dEaD holds 10 frogs per forge, and total frogs are conserved.
    • Records: every token's points are the sum of its inputs' points, its tier is tierFor(points), its inputs are at dEaD, and a name never changes once set. The Captain is tier 6 and exists exactly when #1 has been burned.
    • Frozen settings: renderer, skin, owner and fee never change.

A first run failed, but the bug was in my model: it treated an IMD allowance as permanent, when each forge spends it. I fixed the model, not the assertion.

    test/NightWatchersAdversarial.t.sol (21 tests):

    • Reentrancy: a hostile IMD that calls forge again during the fee transfer is stopped by the reentrancy guard. A hostile frog contract sees, during the frog transfer, that the token is already minted and nextId and the Captain flag already updated, so state is settled before any outside call.
    • Fees: for any fee, half (rounded down) goes to the BurnExecutor and the rest to the treasury. An allowance of exactly 2 IMD works once, then the next forge reverts with nothing moved.
    • Captain and supply: #1 in the 50th forge brings supply to exactly 51, then everything is sold out. #1 plus nine Commons makes a tier 2 Night Watcher plus a tier 6 Captain. minTier applies to the Night Watcher's tier, not the Captain's. minTier of 6 to 255 always reverts.
    • Callers:
      • An operator approved for all of a holder's frogs, the contract owner, and someone who approved each frog individually instead of setApprovalForAll all fail to forge.
      • A contract with no ERC-721 receiver hook still gets its tokens.
      • The owner has no admin functions besides setRenderer, and the contract refuses ETH.
    • Views checked against the brief: tierFor (fuzzed and at its boundaries), the rarity floors for #2–25 and #26–77, the name rule fuzzed against my own version of it, the 5% royalty, the supported interfaces, nothing pre-minted, and setRenderer rejecting a skin without code without using up its one call.

    Still owed:

    • I couldn't test the offline run here (making a no-network sandbox was refused). The fork suite is guarded to skip when it can't fork; I didn't confirm that skip.
    • Etherscan and Sourcify verification needs the deployed contract, so I didn't do it.
    • One note, not a defect, since the brief allows it: the 51-token cap is reached only if #1 is in one of the 50 forges; otherwise The Captain can never be minted.

  8. Audit economicsAgent #1866found nothing

The review is complete. The findings file is valid JSON, and the working tree is clean apart from the gitignored scratch tests and the findings file itself.

Outcome: no reproducible defects in the economics, invariant or flow-gap area. .imd-findings.json holds an empty findings list and 14 coverage rows, one per listed entry point plus the invariants I checked.

What I verified, beyond reading the code against the three guides:

    • Points table. A scratch test decoded all 500 frogs from the six packed words. No frog has a code above 4, so none is unforgeable. The distribution is 189 common, 107 uncommon, 109 rare, 70 epic, 25 legendary, and the brief's floors for #2-25 and #26-77 hold.
    • Trait table. On a mainnet fork I tallied the real renderer's traits for all 500 frogs. Every index lies inside its COUNT row and all 46 counts match the table exactly, so the rarest-trait selection uses correct data. The frogs contract's own renderer is the constant this contract reads, and the collection is revealed.
    • Dependencies. IMD's verified source is a LayerZero OFT over OpenZeppelin ERC-20 with no tax, blacklist or pause. NIGHT FROGS is a plain OpenZeppelin ERC-721 with no burn or transfer hook, so frogs reach the dead address and #1 can only be forged once. The BurnExecutor accepts plain ERC-20 transfers.
    • Supply and Captain. Fifty forges consume all 500 frogs, so #1 is necessarily among them and the Captain cannot be foreclosed by other holders' forges. The sold-out guard is shared by forge and preview.
    • Fee flow. Exactly 1 IMD reaches the BurnExecutor and 1 IMD reaches the treasury per forge on the real token. The contract never holds IMD or a frog.
    • Static-analysis leads. The uninitialized-local, unsafe-cast and reentrancy lines do not reproduce. The cast is bounded at 160 and the post-call state writes follow static calls under a reentrancy guard.

Both suites pass: 49 unit tests and 13 fork tests at block 26,244,100. Trust assumptions worth the judge's note rather than findings: the owner currently holds frog #1 and so controls when the Captain is minted, and a broken renderer set once by the owner would break tokenURI but never forging.

  9. Audit judgeAgent #1565found 1 medium, 1 low, 1 info

The review is complete and written to .imd-findings.json. No files in the tree were changed, and the scratch directory is removed.

Outcome: no critical or high defects in the contract. The code implements the brief faithfully. I kept three findings, all reproduced:

    • Medium, launch.json line 7. The manifest writes the owner as $owner, but the brief states the owner address explicitly, and the launch recipe requires a stated owner to be written as that static address. If the paying wallet is not the treasury address, the brief's owner cannot call setRenderer, and every forge reverts with RendererNotSet until the payer acts. Fix is the one-word substitution in constructorArgs, no code change.
    • Low, src/NightWatchers.sol line 403. Merged from the math and permissions specialists, same root cause. The image splice drops the renderer's last 6 bytes without checking them, and the renderer pair is set once with no validation and no recovery. I reproduced both cases with the repository mocks: a renderer ending in a trailing newline yields a malformed image for every token, and a reverting renderer makes every tokenURI revert, while forge keeps burning frogs and pulling IMD. This matches the letter of the spec, so it is a hardening finding against a trusted boundary.
    • Info, test/NightWatchersFork.t.sol line 38. The fork suite skips silently without an RPC, so an offline run looks green. Kept as a test-suite note.

What I verified myself beyond the specialists:

    • Unit, adversarial and invariant suites: 72 tests pass. Formatting check passes.
    • The fork suite against the real mainnet contracts at the pinned block: all 13 tests pass, including every tier, the Captain forge with frog #1's real traits, frogs ending at dEaD, and exactly 1 IMD each to the BurnExecutor and treasury.
    • All 500 live frogs: each has an owner, none is at dEaD yet, the rarity words decode to valid codes for every id with the floors the brief states, and every live renderer trait index falls inside its COUNT row with a non-empty name.
    • Runtime size is 16,242 bytes and the constructor makes no external call, so the CREATE2 factory deployment works.
    • All slither and aderyn lines are false positives: zero-initialised locals, a bounded cast of a value at most 160, view calls before state changes, and an intentional _mint without a receiver hook.

Coverage: all 8 entry points answered as holds, plus 5 invariant and deployment rows, with the manifest row pointing at finding 1.

    • mediumlaunch.json writes the owner as $owner although the brief states the owner address; the recipe requires the static addresslaunch.json:7

The brief fixes the owner: 'The owner (0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5) has one power only: setRenderer, once.'

The launch recipe this task is judged against says an owner address the brief itself states is written as that static address instead of $owner ($owner resolves to the wallet that paid or the owner the request's owner field named, which the tree cannot see). launch.json passes "$owner" as the first constructor argument (owner_), so NightWatchers.owner (immutable, src/NightWatchers.sol:139) is whatever $owner resolves to at launch time.

If that wallet is not 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5, the brief's owner cannot call setRenderer (NotOwner), and because forge()/preview() revert with RendererNotSet until setRenderer is called, the collection cannot forge at all unless the paying wallet cooperates. The treasury, royalty receiver and all other addresses are constants in the bytecode and are unaffected.

The notes already describe owner_ as 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5, so the fix is to write that address literally.

Minimal fix: replace "$owner" with "0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5" in constructorArgs; no code change.

State: the factory deploys NightWatchers with constructorArgs [$owner, 2000000000000000000] and $owner resolves to a wallet W != 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5 (any payer other than the treasury).

      Calls: (1) NightWatchers.owner() -> expected 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5 (the brief), actual W.

      (2) vm.prank(0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5); setRenderer(r, skin) with two code-bearing addresses -> expected success and RendererSet, actual revert NotOwner() (src/NightWatchers.sol:150).

      (3) any holder: forge([78,80,81,82,86,88,90,96,97,98], 0) -> expected a mint, actual revert RendererNotSet() (src/NightWatchers.sol:221) for as long as W does not call setRenderer.

Verified in the unit suite shape: new NightWatchers(W, 2e18) then setRenderer from 0x6c4c... reverts NotOwner (same path as test_setRendererOnlyOwner in test/NightWatchers.t.sol).

    • lowimageOf strips the renderer's last 6 bytes blindly; renderer and skin are set once with no validation and no recovery, so a renderer whose svg ends with anything but '</svg>' (or reverts) breaks everysrc/NightWatchers.sol:403

Merged from audit_math (splice) and audit_permissions (one-shot trust). imageOf (src/NightWatchers.sol:401-407) assumes the last 6 bytes returned by renderer.svg(...) are exactly '' and discards them without looking at them; setRenderer (src/NightWatchers.sol:149-157) only checks that both addresses have code and can never be called again.

The brief says the ordered NightWatchRenderer 'always ends with ' and defines IMAGE as the svg without its last 6 bytes, so the code matches the letter of the spec and the renderer is a trusted boundary; this is a hardening finding, not a violation of the design.

But the cost of the trusted side being off by a single byte (a trailing newline is the common case for generated SVG) or reverting is permanent: every tokenURI of every token is malformed or reverts, forge() keeps burning frogs and pulling 2 IMD, and neither holders nor the owner have any recourse (RendererAlreadySet).

Minimal fix preserving the spec: strip the tail only when it equals '' (optionally after trimming trailing whitespace) and otherwise keep the svg whole, as the <6-byte path already does; and/or have setRenderer call renderer.svg and skin.layer once with dummy arguments and check the svg ends with '' before accepting the pair. Operationally, the owner must validate both contracts on mainnet before the one call.

Reproduced with a scratch Foundry test using the repository mocks etched at the hard-coded addresses (MockFrogs, MockFrogRenderer, MockIMD, MockWatchSkin from test/mocks/Mocks.sol).

      Case A: owner 0x6c4c... calls setRenderer(R, S) where R.svg(...) returns '\n' (ends with '' + 0x0a).

      Holder forges [78,80,81,82,86,88,90,96,97,98] with minTier 0 -> token 1.

      Expected imageOf(1): ''.

Actual (logged): '<' (the dangling '<' of the old closing tag makes '<<g', malformed XML, so the base64 image in tokenURI(1) does not render).

A second setRenderer(R2, S2) from the owner reverts RendererAlreadySet().

Case B: setRenderer(R, S) where R.svg reverts('boom'): succeeds; forge mints token 1, frogs at dEaD, 2 IMD moved; tokenURI(1) and imageOf(1) revert with 'boom'; setRenderer again reverts RendererAlreadySet().

    • infoMainnet-fork suite skips instead of failing when the fork cannot be created, so a run without an RPC reports green without exercising the real contractstest/NightWatchersFork.t.sol:38

Test-suite note, not a contract defect (from audit_flow, reproduced). setUp catches any createSelectFork failure and every test then calls vm.skip(true) through the onlyFork modifier (lines 51-57).

A run with the mainnet alias unreachable reports '0 passed; 0 failed; 13 skipped' with a success exit status, indistinguishable from a green run, and this file is the only place the real NIGHT FROGS transferFrom-to-dEaD, the real renderer's traits()/traitName() and the real IMD transferFrom are exercised (the unit, adversarial and invariant suites use mocks).

With an RPC the 13 tests pass at block 26,244,100: I ran the same suite against a mainnet fork at that block and all 13 passed (every tier, the captain forge with #1's real traits, frogs at dEaD, exactly 1 IMD to the BurnExecutor and 1 to the treasury, the revert set, setRenderer once/owner only, setName and tokenURI).

I also confirmed on the fork that all 500 frogs have an owner, none is at dEaD yet, pointsOf(id) succeeds for every id, and every renderer.traits(id, randomWord()) index lies inside its COUNT row with a non-empty traitName.

Suggested: keep the skip for the offline verifier but print/log that fork coverage did not run, or gate the skip on an explicit environment flag so CI with an RPC fails loudly.

Run forge test --match-path test/NightWatchersFork.t.sol with the mainnet RPC alias unreachable.

Expected: a clear failure or a report that the brief-required fork coverage did not execute.

      Actual: 'Suite result: ok.

      0 passed; 0 failed; 13 skipped', exit status 0.

With the RPC reachable: 13 passed, 0 failed.

  10. ManifestAgent #7351 file changed

The finding reproduced and is fixed. Only launch.json changed.

What the finding said and why it held. The brief states the owner address literally, and the launch recipe requires a brief-stated owner to be written as that static address rather than $owner. Because the contract's owner is immutable and setRenderer is owner-only, a $owner resolving to any other wallet would leave forge and preview reverting until that wallet cooperated.

    What changed in launch.json:

    • The first constructor argument is now the literal address 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5 instead of $owner.
    • The notes sentence describing the owner argument now says it is the static address because the brief names the owner. The fee argument is unchanged.

    Verification:

    • The manifest has exactly the keys kind, contracts and notes, string arguments, a valid identifier, and notes well under the limit.
    • The build passes, and all 62 tests pass with the verifier's fuzz seed, including the mainnet-fork suite.
    • The answer to the finding is written to .imd-responses.json with verdict fixed. That file is excluded from git by the harness, as expected.

  11. Audit judgeAgent #354found 2 info

The one blocking finding from last round is fixed, and nothing new turned up. I changed no repository files; the findings and coverage are in .imd-findings.json.

    Settled this round:

    • [medium] owner written as $owner — fixed. launch.json now passes the brief's owner 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5 as owner_, followed by 2000000000000000000 as fee_. That matches constructor(address owner_, uint256 fee_). The notes now say why the address is written out. src/ did not change between rounds; the only change is launch.json.
    • [low → info] imageOf drops the renderer's last 6 bytes without checking them (src/NightWatchers.sol:403). This is the specialists' math and permissions findings merged into one. I lowered it to info because the code does exactly what the brief says: the renderer "always ends with </svg>", and the image is its svg minus the last 6 bytes. It stays on record as a trust note: the renderer can be set only once, so the owner has to check the renderer's and skin's output on mainnet before that call. It does not block.
    • [info] the mainnet-fork tests skip instead of failing when no RPC is reachable (test/NightWatchersFork.t.sol:38). This is about the test suite, not the contract. In this round's run the public RPC was reachable, and the full suite gave 85 passed, 0 failed, 0 skipped, so the fork tests the brief requires did run.

    Checks this round:

    • forge build passes. NightWatchers is 16,242 bytes deployed, under the 24,576 limit.
    • forge test gives 85 passed across the four suites, including the fork suite.
    • I read the whole contract again. The static-analysis leads don't hold:
      • The "uninitialized" locals are meant to start at zero.
      • The uint16 cast is safe because at most 10 frogs × 16 points = 160.
      • The reentrancy lead is covered by nonReentrant and the checks-effects-interactions order.
      • _mint is the call the brief asks for.

Coverage: all 8 listed entry points hold, plus one extra row confirming the launch.json constructor arguments. forge, setRenderer and setName were traced in full. approve, setApprovalForAll, transferFrom and both safeTransferFrom versions are OpenZeppelin v5's ERC-721 code, not overridden.

    • infoimageOf strips the renderer's last 6 bytes without checking they are '</svg>'; renderer and skin are set once, so a renderer that breaks this (trailing newline, revert) breaks every tokenURI permanentsrc/NightWatchers.sol:403

Merged from audit_math (the splice) and audit_permissions (the one-shot trust). This line did not change this round (git diff of src/ between rounds is empty). The brief says the ordered NightWatchRenderer always ends with '' and defines IMAGE as the svg minus its last 6 bytes, so the code does exactly what the spec says and the renderer is a trusted boundary.

This is not a defect and does not block. It is recorded as the operational trust assumption: setRenderer (lines 149-157) only checks that both addresses have code and can never be called again. If the renderer returns '' plus a trailing byte, or reverts, the metadata of every token is malformed or reverts with no recovery, while forge (which never calls the renderer or skin) keeps burning frogs and taking IMD.

The owner must check svg()/layer() output on mainnet before the one setRenderer call. Optional hardening that keeps the spec: strip the tail only when it equals ''.

Repository mocks etched at the hard-coded addresses.

      Owner 0x6c4c... calls setRenderer(R, S) where R.svg returns '\n'.

The holder forges [78,80,81,82,86,88,90,96,97,98] with minTier 0 and gets token 1. imageOf(1) is '<<g id="skin" .../>', which is malformed XML because of the '<<g'.

Calling setRenderer a second time reverts RendererAlreadySet.

With a spec-conforming renderer, which is the brief's stated precondition, the output is correct: the unit and fork tokenURI tests pass.

    • infoMainnet-fork suite skips instead of failing when the fork cannot be created; test-suite note onlytest/NightWatchersFork.t.sol:38

Carried advisory, unchanged this round. setUp catches any createSelectFork failure, and the onlyFork modifier then calls vm.skip(true). A run without an RPC reports the 13 fork tests as skipped and the run exits 0. This is not a contract defect.

In this round's run the RPC was reachable: 85 tests passed, 0 failed, 0 skipped, so the fork coverage the brief requires did execute.

Run forge test --match-path test/NightWatchersFork.t.sol with the mainnet alias unreachable.

Expected: a failure or an explicit report that fork coverage did not run.

      Actual: '0 passed; 0 failed; 13 skipped', exit 0.

With the RPC reachable (this round): every fork test passes.
