Add one new room to the existing Squeekverse site: Distance Race. Visitors pick a distance goal for the real Squeekchain hamster and follow his settled work toward that goal, with a race track drawn in the same style as the rest of the site. Use the existing hash routes, room layout and chain data helpers in src and shared.

Keep every existing room, contract address and the visual style unchanged. The visible copy must use no emoji and no dash symbols. Rebuild and commit the static export in dist.

Work

  1. Posted12 minto the first attempt
  2. Build websiteAgent #2379 files changed

The Distance Race room isn't finished: the source and docs are written, but nothing has been built, tested or committed. dist/ is still the old export without the room, so the site doesn't have it yet, and the new code has never been compiled or run.

    What blocked it

The shell and the browser both failed every time, from the first command to the last:

    • Bash: Sandbox is required but failed to initialize: Failed to create bridge sockets after 5 attempts. Restart to retry.
    • Browser: Failed to create a ProcessSingleton for your profile directory (SingletonLock: Permission denied (13))

I can't turn the sandbox off. I also didn't hand-edit the bundled dist/ files or .git, because that would pass off an unbuilt export as a real build. This is a machine failure, not a question for the requester, so I didn't write .imd-blocked.json.

    What's written (uncommitted)

    • The room (src/rooms/race.ts, at #race):
      • Visitors pick 5, 10, 21.1, 42.2 or 100 km, or type any distance from 1 to 1,000 km.
      • A drawn track shows his settled progress, with a marker for his usual pace.
      • It also shows his fastest time for that distance. Restarting a race can be undone.
    • Race logic and tests: shared/race.ts and tests/race.test.ts.
    • Small additions to existing files: the route and dock item in main.ts, a 3D landmark, styles, and three new settled-work fields in store.ts. Existing rooms and contract addresses are unchanged.
    • Docs: DESIGN.md, the README, and artifacts/validation.md, which marks every check as not run. The Better Interface review there comes from reading the source only, so nothing has been checked as rendered.

    Decision for you

The contract address in shared/chain.ts looks out of date. The API now names a newer SqueekCore (0xfd6c…), while the site's 0x980b… last settled rounds on 4 November at 21:05 UTC.

You asked to keep addresses unchanged, so I left it. The race reads progress from the API's settled figure instead, otherwise it would never move. Its fastest times come from the older rounds, which stop at that date, and other rooms that read rounds from that contract stop there too. You'll need to decide whether to update the address.

Distance is also an estimate. The docs don't give a wheel size, so I used 878 mm per unit of work, the exact ratio in the API's own stats (3,351,326 mm for 3,817 work).

    To finish

Once the shell works, run these and fix anything that fails:

npm ci && npm test && npm run build
    node .imd/reads/skills/design-critic/scripts/taste.mjs --out test/scratch/taste

Then check #race in a browser at 320, 390, 860 and 1440 wide, put the real results in artifacts/validation.md, and commit the source with dist/.

Not delivered: artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

The committed export omits Distance race. Opening /#race shows the homepage, with eight dock links, zero goal controls and zero race tracks. Rebuild and commit dist from the current source.

The visual idea is a tiny planet powered by a real hamster, with rooms styled like printed seed packets.

The unexported room passed Chromium checks for selection, progress, validation, restart, undo and persistence. Its picker and track fit at 390 pixels. WebKit was unavailable, so Safari remains unverified. No application files were changed.

    • highfidelity: the committed static export omits Distance racesrc/main.ts:40

Now: The source registers the new room, but the committed dist export still ships the previous eight room application. Opening #race falls through to the homepage.

Change to: Rebuild the static export from the current source and commit the resulting dist/index.html and assets so #race mounts raceRoom and the dock includes Distance race.

Why: The brief explicitly requires a usable new Distance Race room and says to rebuild and commit the static export in dist.

At 390 × 844 in Chromium, serve the committed dist directory and open /#race directly.

Expected: the Distance race heading, distance choices and race track.

Actual: document.title is Squeekverse, h1 is Squeekverse, the dock has eight links with no #race, document.querySelectorAll('.race-track').length is 0 and document.querySelectorAll('input[name="race-goal"]').length is 0.

The #race hash remains in the URL.

No JavaScript errors occur; dist assets contain none of 'Distance race', 'race-track' or 'sw.race'.

  4. Site content checkAgent #1958found 2 medium

Saved two medium findings in .imd-findings.json:

    • The committed export omits Distance Race.
    • Delayed status responses can reset a race and overcount progress.

Both have concrete reproductions. No critical or high findings. Site files remain unchanged.

    • mediumRebuild the committed export so Distance Race is actually hosteddist/index.html:16

The hosted entry point still loads main-Dkzz_wOl.js, whose room table contains only lastlight, dawn, raid, almanac, garden, market, shed and stream. The bundle contains neither Distance race nor sw.race, and the exported stylesheet has no race-track styles. The new room exists in src/main.ts and src/rooms/race.ts but is absent from the committed static export, so hosting dist does not deliver the requested feature.

This is a functional delivery defect, not unsafe content.

Serve the committed dist directory and open /index.html#race (or /index.html#/race).

Expected: the Distance race room, distance choices and track, with a Distance race dock link.

Actual: the home page renders with the title Squeekverse and an eight-room dock with no race link.

The room lookup in dist/assets/main-Dkzz_wOl.js falls through to its home branch because race is missing.

    • mediumIgnore older status responses before resetting a saved racesrc/rooms/race.ts:94

The new race treats any settled count below its starting count as a chain restart and immediately persists a new baseline. src/lib/store.ts starts a status poll every three seconds without preventing concurrent requests or rejecting older responses. A delayed response from before the visitor picked a goal can therefore reset the race even when installationId is unchanged and its settledThroughRound is older.

The next current response counts work done before the race began, and the UI falsely announces a chain restart. This source defect will remain after the missing static export is rebuilt.

Using the source room with real src/lib/store.ts and controlled fetch responses, leave status request A pending.

Let the next three-second poll B complete with schemaVersion=1, installationId="same-installation", builder.anchor.cumulativeWork="10000" and settledThroughRound="200", then select the 5 km goal.

Now complete A with the same installationId, cumulativeWork="9000" and settledThroughRound="199".

Actual: sw.race.startWork changes from 10000 to 9000 and the room says "Squeekchain restarted its settled count".

      Complete poll C with cumulativeWork="11000" and settledThroughRound="201".

Expected: the original baseline remains 10000 and status reports 0.88 of 5 km.

Actual: it reports 1.76 of 5 km because it counts 2000 work instead of the 1000 settled since the goal was picked.

Reproduced with the unchanged source modules in an in-memory DOM harness.
