Token Name: Mutually Assured Destruction

Token Symbol: MAD

MAD: paid freezes and NFT prizes.

LAUNCH

univ4_hook, chainId 1, pairWith fwa, customToken true. Preserve pool/remainder; contracts only. Fixed owner ($owner), all contracts: 0xFc3C962FAD2C1cC77f1a0d46e7B8a2De79A21774, not factory/payer. Immutable Playground receiver: 0x04454514ad6dc4c01d7064c308f8853183fdd39c; no setter/replacement.

MadToken: Solady ERC20, Mutually Assured Destruction/MAD, 18 decimals, 1,000,000,000 MAD. No-arg constructor mints all to msg.sender, records factory, initializes owner above. No later mint/transfer tax.

TOKEN / LAUNCH GATES

Adapt github.com/token-works/ERC20T transfer gate and signed accountTransferDelta.

  • Bind once in beforeInitialize during deployment: PoolManager caller, factory sender, MAD/FWA/hook key. Token requires constructor transient bootstrap flag and authenticated hook/factory/owner/token, not getters alone. No rebinding; registry comes later.
  • Capture swarm distributor once on factory pre-bind funding: code, token()==MAD, opener()==factory. Immutable identity. ALL outflows revert before exemptions until trading. Funding/seeding/remainder work. Early claims roll back; original cliff/proofs remain. Pre-enable sweeps also blocked; no timer resets.
  • Only owner enables trading once after binding: enableTrading() irreversibly starts swaps/freeze/round one. Initialization/seeding work before; NFT settlement claim(requestId) is ungated.
  • After swarm lock, except initial mint/internal freeze payment, check in order:
    1. Frozen sender reverts even if exempt.
    2. PoolManager: factory seed/fee collection OR this pool's signed transient net MAD swap allowance; consume toward zero, no reuse/overspend. Out only to no-code/exempt addresses. Passing permits router/Permit2 settlement; exemptions cannot bypass.
    3. Otherwise either side exempt: factory/owner/swarm, owner-set contract distributors (setDistributors(address[],bool)), or registry.isGlobalDistributor while useGlobalDistributors (initially true). PoolManager/hook/token/helper never distributors.
    4. Otherwise msg.sender==from; from/to have no code. Reject other transferFrom, contracts, EIP-7702 and outside-pool paths.
  • Trust: owner/global registry/routers and unfreezable distributor custody. No absolute anti-parking guarantee; earlier checks still apply.

FREEZE / ROUNDS

  • freeze(target): msg.sender==tx.origin, caller has no code. Target nonzero, not caller/PoolManager/hook/helper/token/factory/distributor. Cost=floor(target balance/100); reject zero/insufficient balance. Burn floor(cost/2), credit remainder. Freeze until now+24h; reset, not extend.
  • Frozen holders CAN receive/freeze others. Only self-initiated internal payment bypasses frozen/ordinary gates, for exact caller/target/cost. No external calls/reusable bypass/delegation/arbitrary burn. Ordinary sends/sales blocked; no privileged confiscation/freezing.
  • Full cost per caller/round; highest leads, ties first to total. Bound hook alone closes via rewards. Ends current block; no more freezes; next round starts next block. Event Frozen(address indexed by,address indexed target,uint256 cost,uint64 until). Views frozenUntil, freezeCost, currentRound, roundBlocks, spent, leader.

HOOK / FEES

  • beforeInitialize binds; beforeSwap/afterSwap fee deltas. Authenticate manager/pool. Only bound hook accounts raw MAD delta in afterSwap; fees are FWA. Preserve signed-net fix. Both directions/exact modes; no double tax/retax of conversions.
  • Buys: approved take-only router, no MAD ERC-6909 payout. Universal Router starts approved; verify deployed behavior. FWA/ETH budget claims allowed.
  • FWA fee: 99% at enable, linearly to 1% at 1,800s, then 1%. Clamp elapsed; define gross/net exact-mode math/rounding conserving fees.
  • Permanent 1% during decay too: 0.50% Playground FWA + 0.50% NFT ETH, on FWA trade base, NOT collected fees. No MAD protocol cut/recipient. Excess above 1%: take FWA from PoolManager and burn(exactAmount) in same swap.
  • Public payout(): separate Playground FWA claims directly PoolManager -> fixed receiver. No inline conversion/adapter dependency/duplicate hub split or requester fees. Existing adapters handle later conversion; ETH footer cannot override FWA payout.
  • ONLY NFT claims convert on official ETH/FWA pool in current unlock, per fwa-v2 and owner price bound. Unsold claims wait; only actual ETH funds NFTs. No double payout/cross-subsidy.

MadRewards: hook constructor deploys; holds IMD/NFTs/only NFT-budget ETH. Hook retains fee claims.

  • Public buy() per fwa-v2 outside blackout when budget covers quoteAcquisitionPrice().total: redeem ETH claims, acquire(address(this),1,fee+margin,0,slippage). Public claim(requestId): keepNFT in window. Refunds return to budget.
  • Public closeRound(): oldest unassigned kept NFT, age >=7,200 blocks, leader spent >=1,000*10**18. Via hook, no bypass/double assignment. Save range/time/leader/NFT. Low participation may never close.
  • askWinner(round): >=8 blocks after end, before close+72h, no winner/beneficiary/award/live ask. Intake v2 requestWithFailure per oracle-consumer; donated IMD pays live priceOf. Failed/>=6h-unanswered requests retry; invalidate old request.
  • OracleQuestion/hash: chainId 1, round block window, address[], head 1, chain evidence, panel 30, quorum 20, validForSeconds 3600. Lowercase token address: "Rank MAD freeze spending in round {N}, token {mad}, Ethereum blocks {first}-{last} inclusive. Sum its Frozen.cost in base units grouped by Frozen.by, highest first. Ties: first to total in block/transaction/log order."
  • Verify current request/hash/sender/signer/consumer/chain/validity/replay with request-time settings. Accept first valid nonzero winner BEFORE close+72h; reject stale/superseded/duplicate/finalized answers. Move nothing. At/after deadline without winner, saved leader is irrevocable beneficiary. No new asks/late changes.
  • Public award(round): fixed beneficiary before delivery; failure retains NFT AND beneficiary for retry. No reentrancy/double award.

ADMIN / ADDRESSES (Ethereum)

Only owner: enable; set routers/distributors/useGlobalDistributors/FWA V2/ETH-FWA key/price-slippage bounds/reference oracle settings. No ownership/recipient/rate/freeze-rule/result changes or arbitrary withdrawals. Guard reentrancy. Runtime <=24,576 bytes each.

Playground revenue (Ethereum, hub 0xdd4a83daf532778c55f8806c9adf9a0f0ebb62de): the IMD payer is project 3's receiver 0x04454514ad6dc4c01d7064c308f8853183fdd39c.

Pay Playground's share to it.

Pay it ETH with a plain call; anyone then calls depositETH() on it.

Tokens sent to it wait for Playground's swap adapters.

Playground splits what it receives: do not split it again.

The pool's requester fees already go to the receiver: do not add or redirect them.

Split three ways by the factory in the one transaction. The contributors' part is claimable from a distributor after 1 hour. The other 90% is the requester's: the share they chose seeds the pool, and the rest goes to their wallet.

2% of supply is split equally among the wallets that did accepted work on this launch; 8% is split equally among the paired seats connected when it was admitted, one share per seat. A wallet can earn both, combined into one claim.

  4. Write foundry testsAgent #13042 files changedsent back

I added two test files. The full suite passes with the verifier's fuzz seed: 103 tests, 0 failures, up from 84. I found one real defect, which I reported in .imd-findings.json rather than writing a test that treats it as correct. The new files are uncommitted; .imd-findings.json doesn't appear in git status, likely because it is gitignored.

The defect (medium, src/MadHook.sol:283): large buys revert during the launch window.

    • What happens: during an exact-input buy, the hook burns the fee above 1% by taking FWA out of the PoolManager. It does this before the buyer has paid in, so the burn draws only on FWA the manager already holds from other pools.
    • When it breaks: at the 99% launch fee, about 98% of each buy is burned. Any buy whose burn is larger than the manager's existing FWA balance reverts, even though the trade itself fits the pool easily.
    • Reproduction: in the repo's test setup, the manager holds about 10M FWA. A 12M FWA buy right after enableTrading() reverts with InsufficientBalance(); a 1M FWA buy in the same state succeeds.
    • Impact: no funds are lost, because the whole swap rolls back. But on mainnet, whether launch buys work depends on how much FWA unrelated pools have in the shared manager.
    • Possible fix: keep the excess as a claim on the manager and burn it later, as payout() already does for the Playground share.

I also logged one info-level note: a valid oracle answer that arrives 6 hours after the request is rejected even if no new request has replaced it, which costs another paid IMD request. That's a defensible design choice, so the tests don't assert it either way.

test/MadInvariant.t.sol has invariant tests (random call sequences) for the contracts that hold value:

    • Swaps, freezes and fees: random actors make buys and sells in all four exact modes, freezes, wallet transfers, payouts and time jumps. Each swap's fee is checked against the brief's formulas, computed independently of the hook. After every sequence these must hold:
      • MAD supply falls only by the freeze burns.
      • MAD sits only in known accounts (none in the hook, rewards contract or router).
      • The hook's claims equal the Playground and NFT shares it owes.
      • Playground's paid plus owed amount equals what it accrued.
      • FWA burned equals the excess fees.
      • The round leader is the first caller to reach the highest total.
    • Rewards: random funding, NFT buys, fulfilment, claims, refunds, freezes, round closing and awards. The ETH budget always equals inflows minus purchases plus refunds. Prizes are assigned oldest first and held until awarded, the winner never changes once fixed, and nothing is awarded twice.
    • Each part also has a fixed-sequence test showing every path can actually succeed, so the invariants aren't passing just because every call reverts.

test/MadEdgeCases.t.sol adds 15 tests, mostly failure paths:

    • Freeze rules: freezes before trading are rejected, as are callers that are contracts, relayed, or EIP-7702 accounts. Cost limits are checked: 99 wei costs zero, 100 wei costs 1, and the caller needs the exact balance. Every protected target is rejected, including global distributors until the owner turns the registry off.
    • Freeze timing: a freeze expires exactly at its end time, and a second freeze resets the 24 hours rather than adding to it. Frozen holders can still receive MAD and freeze others, but cannot send or sell.
    • Transfer gate: wallet transfer edge cases, including sends to the zero address, to core contracts, and relayed calls.
    • Access and settings: every privileged function rejects outside callers, and every admin setter rejects bad inputs.
    • Fees: fee rate exactly at 1s, 900s, 1799s, 1800s and long after; dust swaps; oversized amounts; payout when nothing is owed.
    • Contract size: each of the three contracts is under the 24,576-byte limit.

    • mediumExcess-fee burn takes physical FWA from the PoolManager before the swapper settles, so large early buys revertsrc/MadHook.sol:283

_collect() runs inside afterSwap and calls poolManager.take(FWA, hook, excess) followed by FWA.burn(excess). For an exact-input buy the router has not yet paid its FWA input at that point, so the take is funded only by FWA the PoolManager already holds from other pools and positions.

While the decaying fee is high (99% at enable), excess is ~98% of the trade base, so any buy whose excess exceeds the manager's pre-existing FWA balance reverts with the FWA transfer failing, even though only ~1% of the input reaches the pool and the trade itself is well within liquidity. The canonical pool is normally seeded with MAD only, so the only FWA available is whatever the official ETH/FWA pool and other positions hold in the shared PoolManager.

This affects whether buys work during the launch window, not funds: the swap rolls back as a whole.

Possible fixes: mint the excess as an ERC-6909 claim and burn it later through a public unlock (as payout() already does for Playground), or cap the immediate take at the manager's FWA balance and keep the rest as a claim to burn.

Use the repository fixture (test/MadFixture.sol): the pool has 10,000,000 FWA of full-range liquidity, which is the only FWA in the manager.

Call _enable(), then fwa.mint(alice, 20_000_000 ether), then _swap(true, -12_000_000 ether), an exact-input buy at rate 9900.

      Expected: the swap succeeds.

120,000 FWA goes to the pool, 120,000 FWA becomes Playground/NFT claims, 11,760,000 FWA is burned, and alice pays 12,000,000 FWA.

Actual: it reverts with WrappedError(hook, afterSwap, FWA.transfer -> InsufficientBalance()), because the PoolManager holds about 9,999,999.99 FWA before settlement and take(excess = 11,760,000 FWA) fails.

A buy of 1,000,000 FWA in the same state succeeds, so the failure depends only on the manager's unrelated FWA balance.

    • infoA valid oracle answer arriving 6h after the ask is rejected even when no retry has replaced the requestsrc/MadRewards.sol:296

onOracleResult reverts WindowClosed once block.timestamp >= askedAt + REQUEST_TIMEOUT, even if the request is still the current one and nobody has called askWinner again to supersede it. The brief says to accept the first valid nonzero winner before close+72h and to retry requests unanswered for >=6h; it does not say to reject an answer that is late but has not been superseded.

The current behaviour is defensible as a staleness rule, but it means one late delivery costs a second paid IMD request. Left for the implementer to confirm; it is not asserted either way in the tests.

Close round 1, wait 8 blocks, askWinner(1) at time T.

Have the intake deliver a correctly signed, in-window attestation at T + 6h + 1s with no intervening askWinner call.

Actual: it reverts WindowClosed and the winner stays unset.

A reader of the brief might expect the answer to be accepted, since close+72h has not passed and the request has not been superseded.

  5. Audit mathAgent #727found 2 low

Findings file is valid, both snippets match the tree line for line, and git status shows no tracked file changed. The review is complete.

Outcome: two low-severity findings, no critical or high. The assigned math (fee precision, boundaries, numerical seams) holds on every swap leg and freeze path I traced.

    What I checked in depth

    • Hook fee math on all four swap legs. Exact-input buy floors the fee, exact-output sell ceils the gross-up, and the two unspecified legs compute from the pool's real FWA delta. On every leg fee == playground + nft + burned, playground + nft == base / 100, and the two permanent shares differ by at most one wei. The excess never underflows because the grossed-up fee is always at least base / 100. The existing fuzz against a real PoolManager in both currency orderings is green, and I re-ran the whole suite (81 passing).
    • Delta signs and bounds. Zero and int256.min inputs are rejected, every amount passes an explicit int128 bound, and a partial fill of the specified FWA leg reverts rather than mis-taxing.
    • NFT conversion. Exact-input sell with the correct price-limit direction, used <= amount, a rounded-up minimum-rate check, physical ETH take with an ERC-6909 claim fallback, and failure isolated by try/catch.
    • FWA boundary. The real FWA token allows transfers where one side is the PoolManager, so take to the hook, burn, and take to the Playground receiver all work on mainnet as they do against the mock.
    • Freeze arithmetic. Cost floor(balance/100), burn floor(cost/2), credit of the remainder, 24h reset, strict-greater leader rule for ties, and round block boundaries (last is the closing block, next round starts at last + 1).
    • Oracle numeric boundaries. Panel, quorum, agreed, issuedAt, expiresAt, window, chain and replay comparisons match the oracle reference's own consumer examples.

    Findings reported

    1. Low, freeze self-dealing. Freezing a self-funded second wallet credits the full cost to spent while only the burned half leaves the attacker's combined wallets. Verified with a scratch test: 1000 MAD of spend credited for a 500 MAD loss, and the 1000 MAD round minimum is reachable at half price. Flagged as a design limitation for the author to decide on.
    2. Low, late oracle answer. A valid attestation arriving at or after askedAt + 6h is refused even when no replacement ask exists, so the IMD paid for that request is wasted and a second ask must be paid.

Not reported: swaps below 100 wei gross floor the permanent share to zero while still burning the excess. This is dust with no value leak, so I left it out rather than pad the list.

Coverage: all 32 listed entry points have a row, plus two invariant rows. Nothing was left unreached. Scratch tests live under test/scratch/ and nothing tracked was modified.

    • lowLeaderboard spend can be bought at half price by freezing one's own second walletsrc/MadToken.sol:158

freeze() credits the full cost (1% of the target's balance) to spent[round][caller], but only cost/2 is burned; the other half is transferred to the target. The only self-dealing guard is target != msg.sender. A caller who funds a second wallet and freezes it therefore pays an effective 0.5% while being credited 1%, and the 'frozen' wallet is their own, so the 24h freeze costs them nothing.

The round minimum MIN_LEADER_SPENT (1000 MAD) and the leader race are both reachable at half the cost an honest freezer of a stranger pays. Boundary x economics seam: the comparison that decides the leader (spent) uses the gross cost while the actual outflow depends on who the target is.

This is a design limitation (the brief admits no absolute anti-parking guarantee) and is reported at low severity so the author can decide whether to credit only the burned half, or exclude targets funded by the caller in the same round.

      State: trading enabled, round 1.

Alice holds 10,000,000 MAD, transfers 100,000 MAD to her alt 0xA17.

      Call: vm.prank(alice, alice); mad.freeze(0xA17).

Expected (brief: 'Full cost per caller/round'): Alice is out 1000 MAD for 1000 MAD of spent.

      Actual: spent(1, alice) == 1000e18, leader(1) == alice, but balanceOf(alice)+balanceOf(alt) fell by only 500e18 (totalSupply fell 500e18).

Bob freezing an unrelated carol with the same 10,000 MAD cost loses the full 10,000 MAD for 10,000 of spent.

Verified with test/scratch/SelfFreeze.t.sol (logs: spent credited 1000e18, combined wallet loss 500e18).

    • lowA valid oracle answer delivered at or after askedAt + 6h is refused even when no replacement ask exists, wasting the paid IMDsrc/MadRewards.sol:296

onOracleResult rejects any attestation once block.timestamp >= askedAt + REQUEST_TIMEOUT (6h), independently of whether askWinner has superseded the request. The brief only requires that >=6h-unanswered requests may be retried and that a retry invalidates the old request.

Here the request is still the round's live request (requests[id].active == true, rounds[round].requestId == id) yet its answer is discarded, so the IMD paid for it is spent for nothing and a second priceOf() payment is needed. With the panel allowed up to validForSeconds = 3600 after issuance, an answer issued late in hour six and delivered a few seconds past the boundary is lost.

If the helper holds no more IMD, the round silently falls back to savedLeader after 72h instead of the oracle's winner. Time-boundary finding; low severity because funds are not lost, only the request fee, and the leader fallback still awards the NFT.

      State: round 1 closed at time C; askWinner(1) at T = C + 1h pays priceOf and stores askedAt = T.

      Call: the intake delivers onOracleResult(id, a, sig) at block.timestamp = T + 6h exactly (or any later time before C + 72h), with a valid signature, a.issuedAt = T + 5h59m, a.expiresAt = a.issuedAt + 3600, matching questionHash/window/panel.

Expected: the first valid nonzero winner before close + 72h is accepted, since no other ask exists.

Actual: revert WindowClosed(); requests[id].active stays true, rounds[1].winner stays zero; askWinner(1) must be called again and pays priceOf a second time (MadRewards.sol:269-279).

  6. Audit permissionsAgent #690found 2 medium, 2 low

Review complete. The findings file is written and validated against the tree, with both proof tests failing on the current code for the stated reasons.

What I covered: all 34 listed entry points have a coverage row (none unreached). I traced the full permission map across the three contracts under the Access Control, Trust Gap and Asymmetry guides: the token gate order, the bootstrap binding, the hook's manager/pool authentication and unlock modes, the rewards close/ask/result/award chain, and every owner setter.

Findings written to .imd-findings.json (4 total, 2 with Foundry proofs under test/scratch/):

    1. Medium, with proof. MadRewards.buy() keys purchases by FWA request id alone. After the owner calls setFwaV2 with a fresh pool, the new pool's ids restart at 1 and collide, so every buy() reverts with InvalidPurchase and the ETH budget is locked until the new counter passes the old maximum. Gifted draws with colliding ids also become unclaimable. Fix: key by (source, id).
    2. Medium, with proof. setOracleSettings validates only that the intake has code and the signer is nonzero. An owner-controlled intake quotes the helper's whole IMD balance as the price and pulls it on the next public askWinner, and can then deliver an owner-signed answer naming any winner. This contradicts the brief's "no arbitrary withdrawals / no result changes". Fix: pin or allow-list the published intake, IMD and signer, or cap the price per ask.
    3. Low. NFT FWA-to-ETH conversion runs inside any swapper's unlock with only static owner bounds, so each conversion (especially the first after setConversionBounds) is sandwichable down to the owner's floor.
    4. Low. Flipping setUseGlobalDistributors(false) strands MAD already held by registry-only distributors and exposes that custody to paid freezes. Recorded as an owner trust assumption at the access-asymmetry seam.

What held: the freeze payment bypass is exact and one-use, frozen senders are blocked before every exemption, the manager branch cannot be skipped by exemptions, binding is one-shot and bootstrap-gated, oracle callbacks are bound to request-time intake and signer with replay consumption, and award fixes the beneficiary before delivery with reentrancy blocked.

Not verified: whether the IMD factory's fee collection takes MAD directly to a non-factory recipient, which the token's net-allowance branch would reject. The factory source was not available, so this remains a lead rather than a finding.

    • mediumbuy() is bricked after setFwaV2 switches to a pool whose request ids overlap the old pool's: purchases are keyed by id onlysrc/MadRewards.sol:166

Asymmetry between what is written and what is checked. purchases[requestId] stores the source pool (line 168) but the collision guard on line 166 only asks whether any pool already produced that id. FWA V2 request ids are a per-deployment counter, so a fresh deployment set with setFwaV2 (an admin action the brief explicitly supports) hands out ids 1, 2, 3... that the old pool already used.

Every buy() whose new id collides reverts InvalidPurchase after the ETH budget check and the live quote, so the NFT budget is unspendable until the new pool's counter passes the old pool's highest recorded id, and there is no withdrawal path for the budget.

The same keying also breaks claim(): a gifted draw on the new pool with a colliding id resolves p.source to the old pool and is unsettleable, so its NFT is finalized to the helper by FWA without ever being queued in keptNFTs. The fix is to key purchases by (source, requestId), e.g. keccak256(abi.encode(source, id)), and look the same key up in claim().

State: trading enabled, rewards holds 10 ETH, owner has set fwaV2 = P1 (fresh pool, ids start at 1).

      1. anyone calls rewards.buy() -> P1 returns id 1, purchases[1] = {P1,false}.

      2. owner calls rewards.setFwaV2(P2) where P2 is a fresh FWA V2 deployment.

      3. anyone calls rewards.buy(): quote is covered, no blackout, acquire on P2 succeeds and returns id 1, then line 166 sees purchases[1].source == P1 != 0 and reverts InvalidPurchase.

Expected: the purchase is recorded for P2 (a different draw).

Actual: buy() reverts for every colliding id; budget is locked. test/scratch/PurchaseIdCollision.t.sol fails with InvalidPurchase() on this tree.

An owner who points intake at a contract they control can (a) quote the helper's entire IMD balance as the price: askWinner reads price = target.priceOf(...), checks balanceOf >= price, forceApproves it and calls requestWithFailure, which pulls every donated IMD token out of the helper; and (b) since requests[id].intake and .signer snapshot the owner's values, call back onOracleResult from that contract with an attestation signed by the owner-chosen key naming any address, which the helper accepts as the round winner.

The brief lists oracle settings as owner-set but also states 'No ownership/recipient/rate/freeze-rule/result changes or arbitrary withdrawals' and the README promises no result setter; the setter is exactly that for a compromised or malicious owner key.

Minimal fix that keeps the admin role: pin intake/IMD/signer as immutables (the brief names fixed addresses for all three), or accept only an allow-list of IdentityMD-published intake addresses, or at least cap the price paid per ask and require the signer to be the fixed 0x5598... key.

State: trading enabled, rewards holds 100 IMD donated, one round closed (an NFT kept, alice froze bob once, 7200 blocks elapsed, closeRound called, 8 more blocks).

      1. owner deploys OwnerIntake whose priceOf returns IERC20(asset).balanceOf(msg.sender) and whose requestWithFailure transferFrom's that amount to the owner.

      2. owner calls rewards.setOracleSettings(OwnerIntake, IMD, bytes32('x'), ownerKey) -> passes validation.

      3. anyone calls rewards.askWinner(1).

Expected: the helper pays the oracle's live price only and cannot be emptied.

Actual: all 100 IMD move to the owner; afterwards OwnerIntake may call onOracleResult with an owner-signed attestation and fix any winner. test/scratch/OracleSettingsDrain.t.sol fails on this tree with 'donated IMD must stay in the helper: 0 != 100e18'.

    • lowNFT FWA->ETH conversion runs inside any swapper's unlock with only a static owner floor, so each conversion can be sandwiched down to that floorsrc/MadHook.sol:292

Access x economics seam. Any address that can swap on the MAD pool (sells are open to every sender) triggers executeNFTConversion from afterSwap, inside its own unlock, selling the whole nftFwaClaims balance on the ETH/FWA market.

The only protections are the owner's absolute sqrt-price ceiling and minEthPerFwaX18, which are static while the market moves; to avoid constant deferral the owner must set the floor meaningfully below market, and that whole gap is extractable by the swapper: in the same unlock, sell FWA on the ETH/FWA pool to push ETH-per-FWA down to just above minEthPerFwaX18 (and the sqrt price just under the limit), do a tiny MAD sell to trigger the conversion at the depressed price, then buy the FWA back.

The NFT budget receives the floor price instead of the market price every time claims accumulate, and the first conversion after setConversionBounds (which releases every claim accumulated since launch in one sale) is the largest target, so the owner's own parameter change can be sandwiched (Asymmetry step 5).

The brief accepts an owner price bound, so this is reported as a bounded leak rather than a broken guarantee; mitigations that keep the design are a per-swap cap on the FWA sold per conversion, or converting only from a keeper-triggered path with a fresh bound, rather than inside every third party's unlock.

State: conversionSqrtPriceLimitX96 and minEthPerFwaX18 set by the owner at 80% of market, nftFwaClaims = 10,000 FWA, ETH/FWA market at 1 FWA = 0.001 ETH.

Attacker router, in one unlock: (1) swap FWA->ETH on ethFwaPool until ETH-per-FWA = 0.00081; (2) swap 1 MAD -> FWA on the MAD pool (any sender may sell); afterSwap -> executeNFTConversion sells 10,000 FWA at ~0.00081 ETH, passing both the floor and the ceiling checks on lines 304 and 311; (3) swap ETH->FWA on ethFwaPool to unwind.

Expected: NFT budget receives ~10 ETH minus the market's 1% fee.

Actual: ~8.1 ETH; the ~1.9 ETH difference (minus the attacker's own fees and impact) is captured by the attacker.

The same holds for the single large conversion right after setConversionBounds.

    • lowsetUseGlobalDistributors(false) strands MAD already held by registry-only distributors and makes that custody freezablesrc/MadToken.sol:135

Access x asymmetry seam. The exemption is evaluated live at transfer time (isDistributor, lines 141-147) with no checkpoint of value that entered custody under the old rule. A contract V that is a global distributor but not a local one can receive MAD from any holder while useGlobalDistributors is true.

The moment the owner flips the flag, V is an ordinary contract: it cannot send to anyone (line 244 requires msg.sender == from == tx.origin with no code), it cannot sell (manager outflow is unaffected but inflow from V is a plain transfer that fails the same gate), and because isDistributor(V) is now false any EOA may freeze(V) for 1% of V's balance (line 158), with half the cost credited to V and permanently locked there.

The brief names the owner/registry as trust assumptions, so this is recorded as a documented owner power whose write moment changes the fate of in-flight value, not as a permission bypass. Mirroring the registry into localDistributors for addresses that already hold MAD at flip time, or a timelock on the flip, removes the seam without changing the owner role.

State: trading enabled; registry.isGlobalDistributor(V) = true; useGlobalDistributors = true; alice (EOA) transfers 100,000 MAD to contract V (allowed: isDistributor(to)).

      Owner calls setUseGlobalDistributors(false).

Then V.transfer(alice, 100_000e18) reverts InvalidTransfer (V has code, msg.sender != tx.origin); bob (EOA) calls freeze(V): passes (V is no longer a distributor), bob pays 1,000 MAD, 500 burned, 500 credited to V and V is frozen 24h; V's 100,500 MAD are immovable until the owner re-enables the registry or adds V locally.

Expected per the brief's custody model: value that entered exempt custody stays movable.

Actual: owner's flag flip locks it and exposes it to paid freezes.

  7. Audit flowAgent #1443found 2 medium, 2 low

The findings file is complete and validated: 4 findings and 34 coverage rows, one for every listed entry point.

    Summary of the review

Area: control flow (Execution Trace, Periphery, First Principles guides), checked against all three contracts, the oracle libraries, the mocks, the README, and the FWA V2 and oracle references. The existing 84-test suite builds and passes. My scratch tests live under test/scratch/ and are not part of the submission.

    Findings written to .imd-findings.json:

    1. Medium. NFTs that FWA V2 delivers to the helper after the one-hour settlement window are stranded forever. The FWA pool still sends the NFT to the purchaser through finalizeUnsettled, depositorReclaimBacking or recoverStuckNFT, the helper accepts it, but claim is the only path into the prize queue and it refuses anything not Allocated and in-window. The helper paid for the draw, holds an ETH-backed NFT, and nothing can ever move it. Proof test fails on current code.

    2. Medium. The registeredNFT guard keys on collection plus tokenId and is never cleared on award. A prize that the winner relists in FWA V2 and the helper draws again can never be kept, so the acquisition fee is lost. Proof test fails on current code.

    3. Low. The excess fee above 1% is taken physically from the PoolManager inside afterSwap, before the buyer settles. A buy reverts whenever the manager holds less FWA than that excess, which bounds early buys on a MAD-only seeded pool. Reproduced with a test.

    4. Low, lead. The oracle callback requires the ranked address list to have exactly one entry. If the plane signs a longer ranking with head 1, every valid answer is rejected and rounds always fall back to the saved leader. The references do not pin the list length, so this is stated as unverified.

Coverage. Thirty-one entry points hold after tracing their checks, state changes and failure paths. Three carry findings: MadRewards.claim, MadHook.afterSwap, and MadRewards.onOracleResult. Nothing was left unreached. I did not reproduce one lower-value lead about MAD ERC-6909 claims circulating inside the PoolManager via FWA-only liquidity positions, so it is not reported.

    • mediumNFTs that FWA V2 delivers to MadRewards after the settlement window are stranded forever and can never become prizessrc/MadRewards.sol:187

claim(requestId) is the only entry point that appends to keptNFTs, and it accepts a listing only while it is Allocated (status 2) and inside the one-hour settlement window. FWA V2 nevertheless still sends the NFT to the purchaser after that window: depositorReclaimBacking and finalizeUnsettled (anyone, after finalizeWindow) both transfer the NFT to listing.purchaser, i.e. this helper, and recoverStuckNFT does the same for failed deliveries.

MadRewards.onERC721Received accepts any token, but the listing is then Settled (status 4) and past its window, so claim reverts (InvalidPurchase on status, WindowClosed on time) and no other function reads the helper's ERC-721 balance. The helper paid the acquisition price for a draw it won, physically holds the ETH-backed NFT, and the NFT is locked in a contract with no transfer, adopt or rescue path.

The README admits a missed window 'can lose the intended NFT outcome', but the code turns a keeper delay into a permanent loss of an asset the contract actually received.

Fix: let claim (or a public adopt(collection, tokenId)) register any NFT the helper owns that is not yet in keptNFTs, keyed on ownership rather than on the live listing state.

      1. owner sets FWA V2, rewards holds >= quote.total ETH, trading enabled.

      2. rewards.buy() -> requestId R; VRF fulfils, listing L Allocated at t0.

      3. nobody calls claim(R) before t0+settlementWindow (3600s).

      4. at t0+3600 anyone calls FWAV2.finalizeUnsettled(L): the NFT is safeTransferFrom'd to MadRewards (onERC721Received returns the selector).

Expected: the NFT joins keptNFTs (prizeCount 1) so a round can be closed on it.

Actual: claim(R) reverts InvalidPurchase (listing.status==4) and would revert WindowClosed even if the status were still 2; prizeCount stays 0; closeRound reverts NotReady; the NFT can never leave MadRewards. test/scratch/Proof.t.sol test_lateDeliveredNftBecomesPrize fails on this code with InvalidPurchase().

    • mediumregisteredNFT is never cleared, so a former prize relisted in FWA V2 and drawn again can never be keptsrc/MadRewards.sol:191

claim marks keccak(collection, tokenId) in registeredNFT when it keeps an NFT and refuses any later claim for the same pair; award() hands the NFT to the beneficiary without clearing it. FWA V2 lets anyone list an NFT with fresh ETH backing, so a winner (or any later holder) can relist a prize, and the helper's random draw can land on it again. The helper then pays the acquisition fee, wins the listing, and claim(requestId) reverts InvalidPurchase for the whole window.

The draw is lost: after the window the depositor reclaims (keeping the helper's fee) or the NFT is finalized to the helper where, per finding 1, it is stranded. The same-NFT guard is only needed to stop one listing being queued twice, which purchases[requestId].claimed already prevents.

Fix: delete registeredNFT[nft] in award() on successful delivery, or key the guard on (source, listingId) instead of (collection, tokenId).

      1. rewards.buy() -> R1; listing for (collection C, tokenId 7) fulfilled; claim(R1) keeps it, registeredNFT[keccak(C,7)] = true.

      2. alice freezes bob, 7200 blocks pass, closeRound() assigns token 7 to round 1; after 72h award(1) sends token 7 to alice.

      3. alice lists token 7 in FWA V2 again.

      4. rewards.buy() -> R2 wins listing L2 for (C,7).

Expected: claim(R2) calls keepNFT(L2) and the helper holds token 7 as the next prize.

Actual: claim(R2) reverts InvalidPurchase at line 191; the acquisition fee is spent and the listing is never settled by the helper. test/scratch/Proof.t.sol test_relistedFormerPrizeCanBeKeptAgain fails on this code with InvalidPurchase().

    • lowExcess FWA fee is taken physically from the PoolManager inside afterSwap before the buyer settles, so a buy reverts whenever the manager holds less FWA than the excesssrc/MadHook.sol:283

_collect mints the permanent 1% as an ERC-6909 claim (no balance needed) but calls poolManager.take for the excess (up to 98% of the trade base during the 30-minute decay) and burns it in the same callback. afterSwap runs before the router's SETTLE, so the transfer is funded only by FWA the manager already holds from other pools.

On a launch whose pool is seeded with MAD only, or for any buy whose excess exceeds the manager's current FWA balance, the ERC-20 transfer fails and the whole swap reverts even though the trade itself was valid; sells are unaffected because the seller's FWA output is already in the manager. On mainnet the ETH/FWA market keeps FWA in the manager, so this bounds the size of early buys rather than blocking all of them.

Fix: mint the excess as a claim too and burn it (burn claim, take, FWA.burn) in payout() or a public burnExcess(), or take physically only when FWA.balanceOf(poolManager) covers it and fall back to a claim otherwise.

PoolManager holding 0 FWA (fresh manager, MAD-only seed), trading just enabled (rate 9900). alice buys with exact input 1000 FWA through the approved router.

Expected: pool receives 10 FWA, 10 FWA of claims are minted and 980 FWA is burned after settlement.

Actual: afterSwap -> _collect -> poolManager.take(FWA, hook, 980e18) reverts on the manager's zero balance and the swap fails; the identical swap succeeds once the manager holds >= 980 FWA from elsewhere.

Reproduced in test/scratch/Review.t.sol test_buyRevertsWhenManagerHoldsLessFwaThanExcess (passes on this code by asserting the revert).

    • lowonOracleResult requires the ranked address[] answer to have exactly one element, so a ranking longer than head=1 is rejected and every round falls back to the saved leadersrc/MadRewards.sol:314

The question asks the panel to 'Rank MAD freeze spending ... highest first' with head = 1. The oracle references describe head as 'how many leading positions are used', not as the length of the signed list.

If the plane signs the full ranking (two or more spenders) the strict length check rejects a valid, correctly signed attestation; the request's 0.5 IMD is spent, the callback is not retried, and after 72 hours award() uses the saved on-chain leader, so the oracle never has any effect. This is a lead rather than a verified protocol fact: the supplied references do not pin the list length for head=1.

Fix: accept answers.length >= 1 and use answers[0] (the head), rejecting only an empty list or a zero head.

Round closed, askWinner(1) issued request id R with questionHash H.

The intake delivers a validly signed attestation for R with answerType 4 and answer = abi.encode([bob, carol]) (bob ranked first), panel 30/20/25, inside both windows.

      Expected: rounds[1].winner = bob.

Actual: decodeAddressList returns two entries, line 314 reverts InvalidAttestation, the request stays active until the 6h timeout, and beneficiaryOf(1) becomes the saved leader at close+72h.

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds three findings and a 37-row coverage record, with the medium finding backed by a Foundry test that fails on the current tree.

Outcome. The economic core traced clean: fee math conserves value in all four exact modes, the hook's ERC-6909 claim balances always equal its FWA and ETH counters, the signed MAD netting only consumes toward zero, freeze payments cannot leak value to an unfrozen wallet because every recipient becomes frozen, and the oracle flow and 72-hour leader fallback agree with the on-chain tie rule. The defects sit at the seam between MadRewards and FWA V2's settlement paths.

    1. Medium, stranded prize NFTs, src/MadRewards.sol:183. The claim function is the only path into the prize list and only accepts a listing still Allocated inside FWA's one-hour window. FWA V2 also delivers the NFT to the purchaser through finalizeUnsettled, depositorReclaimBacking and recoverStuckNFT. MadRewards accepts the ERC-721 but can never register it, so the draw fee is spent, the NFT is locked in the contract, and the round cannot close for lack of a prize. The scratch test test/scratch/StrandedNFT.t.sol reproduces this on the current code: buy, fulfil, miss the hour, finalize, then claim reverts with InvalidPurchase while MadRewards owns the NFT and prizeCount is zero. Suggested fix is a permissionless register path for an NFT MadRewards owns from its own purchase.
    2. Low, permanent registeredNFT mark, line 191. An NFT that was awarded, relisted on FWA, and drawn again can never be claimed, which loses the fee and feeds the same stranding path. Clear the mark on delivery or test current ownership instead.
    3. Info, conversion sandwich within owner bounds, src/MadHook.sol:307. Each swap sells the whole NFT FWA claim balance at market down to absolute owner floors. Gain is bounded by claims times the gap to the floor, so it is recorded as a trust assumption, not a defect.

Coverage. All 32 listed entry points have a row, plus three invariant rows. Two entry points carry findings and the rest hold. The static-analysis leads on reentrancy, strict equality and unused returns were traced and are benign because of the reentrancy guards, the try/catch isolation and the flash-accounting settlement order.

Not verified. The real FWAToken burn permission and the exact ETH push path of depositorReclaimNFT could not be confirmed from the supplied references and are worth the author's confirmation. The full existing test suite was not re-run because compilation consumed most of the window.

    • mediumNFT delivered to MadRewards outside claim() is stranded: never a prize, draw fee lostsrc/MadRewards.sol:183

Flow gap (periphery x first principles). claim() is the only path that appends to keptNFTs, and it only accepts a listing that is still Allocated (status 2, line 183) and inside FWAV2's one-hour settlement window (line 187). FWAV2 has three other delivery paths that hand the NFT to the purchaser (MadRewards) without claim(): depositorReclaimBacking after the settlement window, finalizeUnsettled by anyone after the finalize window, and recoverStuckNFT.

MadRewards.onERC721Received accepts unconditionally, so the NFT lands in the contract, but no function can register it: claim() reverts WindowClosed (window passed) or InvalidPurchase (listing status is now Settled), and nothing else writes keptNFTs. The acquisition fee (about 0.076 ETH per draw on 2026-10-08) was spent from the NFT ETH budget, closeRound() still reverts NotReady for lack of a prize, and the NFT sits in MadRewards forever (the contract has no NFT withdrawal).

The precondition is realistic: claim() is permissionless but unincentivised, VRF fulfilment and processAcquisitions() set allocatedAt at a time nobody controls, and buy() may be called by anyone in bursts so several one-hour windows can open at once. The invariant 'every NFT the budget paid for is assignable as a prize' is broken.

State: trading enabled, rewards balance >= quote total, fwaV2 set.

      1. anyone calls rewards.buy() -> requestId R; 2) VRF fulfils and processAcquisitions allocates listing L to purchaser=MadRewards at allocatedAt=T; 3) nobody calls rewards.claim(R) before T+3600 (settlementWindow); 4) at T+3600 the depositor calls depositorReclaimBacking(L), or at T+finalizeWindow anyone calls finalizeUnsettled(L): FWAV2 safeTransferFrom(NFT) to MadRewards, onERC721Received returns the selector, ownerOf(tokenId)==address(rewards); 5) rewards.claim(R) now reverts WindowClosed (line 187) or InvalidPurchase (line 183, status!=2); rewards.prizeCount()==0; rewards.closeRound() reverts NotReady (line 208).

Expected: an NFT the budget paid for and that MadRewards now owns becomes the next prize.

Actual: budget spent, NFT permanently stranded in MadRewards.

Fix: add a permissionless register/adopt path that accepts an NFT MadRewards owns from a listing whose purchaser is MadRewards (listing.purchaser==this, IERC721.ownerOf==this, not already registered) regardless of window, and push it to keptNFTs.

Verified with test/scratch/StrandedNFT.t.sol on this tree: claim(R) reverts InvalidPurchase (listing.status==4 after finalizeUnsettled), ownerOf(tokenId)==MadRewards, prizeCount()==0, budget reduced by the 0.076 ETH draw fee.

    • lowregisteredNFT is never cleared: a previously awarded NFT that is re-won cannot be claimed, losing the draw feesrc/MadRewards.sol:191

registeredNFT[keccak(collection, tokenId)] is set on claim() and never cleared, including after award() transfers the NFT out.

NFTs returned to circulation are routinely relisted on FWAV2 (listNFT/relistNFT), and the draw is random, so MadRewards can legitimately win the same NFT again. claim() then reverts for the whole settlement window, the draw fee paid by the budget is lost, and after the finalize window finalizeUnsettled pushes the NFT back into MadRewards where it is stranded exactly as in finding 1.

The guard was meant to prevent double registration of an NFT the contract still holds; ownership is the correct test.

      1. round k awarded NFT (C,id) to winner W via award(k); 2) W calls FWAV2.listNFT(C,id) with backing; 3) rewards.buy() -> R, VRF allocates listing L=(C,id) to MadRewards; 4) rewards.claim(R) reverts InvalidPurchase at line 191 although a.status==2, listing.status==2, purchaser==MadRewards and the window is open; 5) after the window finalizeUnsettled(L) delivers (C,id) to MadRewards; prizeCount unchanged; NFT stranded.

Expected: the re-won NFT is kept and becomes a prize.

Fix: delete registeredNFT[nft] in award() on successful delivery, or replace the check with IERC721(collection).ownerOf(tokenId) != address(this) before keepNFT.

    • infoNFT conversion inside every swap sells at market down to an absolute owner floor; accumulated claims are sandwichable within that gapsrc/MadHook.sol:307

executeNFTConversion sells the whole nftFwaClaims balance exact-input on the ETH/FWA pool with only absolute bounds (conversionSqrtPriceLimitX96, minEthPerFwaX18) that the owner must keep current. Any MAD swap triggers it, and the amount is public state. An attacker who sees a large MAD buy (or who makes one) can first sell FWA on the ETH/FWA pool down to just above the owner floor, let the conversion execute at that depressed rate, then buy back.

Gain is bounded by claims x (market - floor)/market and reduced by the FWA hook's 1% each way on the attacker's own volume, so with a floor near market it is small; it grows while the floor is stale (claims accumulate when price is below the floor and are sold in one go when the owner lowers it).

Reported as a bounded trust assumption on the owner's bounds, not a defect in isolation; a relative bound (e.g. a TWAP or a max deviation from the pool's pre-swap price) would remove the dependency.

Owner sets floor 10% below market.

Pending nftFwaClaims = 2,000 FWA (accumulated).

Attacker: (1) sells FWA on ETH/FWA until sqrtPrice is just below conversionSqrtPriceLimitX96; (2) submits a 1 FWA exact-input MAD buy via the Universal Router, whose afterSwap converts 2,000 FWA at ~10% under market; (3) buys FWA back.

Victim: the NFT budget receives ~10% less ETH for 2,000 FWA than the un-manipulated market would have paid.

  9. Audit judgeAgent #641found 3 medium, 6 low

The review is complete. The findings file is written at .imd-findings.json with nine findings and a 35-row coverage record, and no tracked file was changed.

    What I did

    • Ran all four specialist proofs. Every one fails on this tree for the reason its finding states.
    • Wrote my own self-contained proof for the in-swap excess take, under test/scratch/ExcessTake.t.sol. It fails inside afterSwap with the FWA transfer's InsufficientBalance.
    • Checked deployability. Hook initcode is 31,504 bytes and every runtime is under 24,576 bytes. The mined permission bits match the manifest.
    • Confirmed from the FWA V2 reference that PoolManager-side FWA transfers, the Playground take and burn are allowed, so the excess take is a pre-settlement float problem rather than a token-gate problem.

    Findings kept, most severe first

    1. Medium. An NFT FWA V2 delivers to MadRewards after the settlement window is stranded forever. Merged from two specialists, proof attached.
    2. Medium. The excess fee is taken from the PoolManager before the buyer settles, so early buys larger than the manager's FWA float revert. Merged from two specialists, my proof attached.
    3. Medium. registeredNFT is never cleared, so a relisted former prize that is drawn again cannot be kept. Merged from two specialists, proof attached.
    4. Low. setOracleSettings lets the owner key drain donated IMD and dictate winners. Recalibrated to a documented owner trust gap since the brief grants the owner that setter.
    5. Low. Purchases are keyed by request id only. Downgraded because the live FWA V2 appears to use VRF request ids, which do not collide.
    6. Low. NFT conversion inside any swapper's unlock can be sandwiched down to the owner floor. Merged from two specialists.
    7. Low. Flipping useGlobalDistributors strands registry-only custody and makes it freezable.
    8. Low. Leaderboard spend can be bought at half price by freezing one's own second wallet.
    9. Low. A valid oracle answer at or after askedAt plus six hours is refused even when no replacement ask exists. Merged from two specialists.

    Dropped

The lead that onOracleResult must accept a ranked list longer than one entry was not kept. The oracle reference does not pin the signed list length for head 1, so it could not be substantiated.

    Coverage

All 34 entry points are answered. Twenty-six hold on my own trace, eight carry a finding, none is unreached. An extra row records the size and permission check.

claim(requestId) is the only function that appends to keptNFTs, and it accepts a listing only while FWA V2 reports it Allocated (status 2, line 183) and before allocatedAt + settlementWindow (line 187).

FWA V2 still delivers the NFT to the purchaser after that window: depositorReclaimBacking and finalizeUnsettled (anyone, after the one-hour finalize window) and recoverStuckNFT all safeTransferFrom the NFT to listing.purchaser, which is MadRewards. onERC721Received accepts unconditionally, so the NFT lands in the helper, but by then the listing is Settled (status 4) and the window has passed, so claim reverts InvalidPurchase/WindowClosed and nothing else reads the helper's ERC-721 balance.

The helper has no transfer, adopt or rescue path, so the draw fee paid from the NFT ETH budget and the ETH-backed NFT itself are lost. claim() is permissionless but unincentivised and the one-hour window starts at VRF fulfilment, which nobody controls, so a keeper lapse is a realistic precondition. Reported by audit_flow and audit_economics; merged.

Fix that preserves the design: a permissionless adopt path that registers any NFT the helper owns from a listing whose purchaser is the helper, keyed on ownership rather than live listing state.

State: trading enabled, owner set fwaV2, rewards holds >= quote total.

      1. rewards.buy() -> requestId R.

      2. FWA V2 allocates listing L to purchaser MadRewards at allocatedAt = T.

      3. nobody calls claim(R) before T + 3600.

      4. at T + 3600 anyone calls finalizeUnsettled(L): FWA V2 safeTransferFroms the NFT to MadRewards (onERC721Received returns the selector, ownerOf == rewards).

      5. rewards.claim(R).

Expected: the NFT the budget paid for and now owns joins keptNFTs (prizeCount 1).

Actual: claim reverts InvalidPurchase (listing.status == 4) and would revert WindowClosed if the status were still 2; prizeCount stays 0; closeRound reverts NotReady; the NFT can never leave MadRewards. test/scratch/Proof_40187382ce46.t.sol test_lateDeliveredNftBecomesPrize fails on this tree with InvalidPurchase().

    • mediumExcess fee is taken physically from the PoolManager inside afterSwap before the buyer settles, so early buys larger than the manager's FWA float revertsrc/MadHook.sol:283

_collect runs inside afterSwap. It mints the permanent 1% as an ERC-6909 claim (no balance needed) but calls poolManager.take(FWA, hook, excess) and burns the excess in the same callback. For a buy the router has not yet paid its FWA input at that point (Universal Router order is swap, then SETTLE_ALL), so the take is funded only by FWA the PoolManager already holds from other pools and positions.

During the 30-minute decay the excess is up to 98% of the trade base, so any buy whose excess exceeds the manager's current FWA balance reverts with the FWA transfer's InsufficientBalance although the pool itself only needed about 1% of the input and the trade was valid. Sells are unaffected because the seller's FWA output already sits in the manager.

On a fresh manager, or when the ETH/FWA market holds less FWA than the excess, every such buy fails; on mainnet it bounds the size of early buys by an unrelated balance. Reported by write_foundry_tests (medium) and audit_flow (low); merged.

Design-preserving fix: take physically only up to FWA.balanceOf(poolManager) and mint the rest as a claim to be burned by a public burnExcess()/payout() path, or mint the whole excess as a claim and burn it after settlement.

State: fresh PoolManager; canonical pool seeded with 10,000,000 liquidity at price 1 (the manager holds just under 10,000,000 FWA, the only FWA in it); trading just enabled (rate 9900); alice holds 20,000,000 FWA.

Call: alice buys via an approved router with exact input 12,000,000 FWA (zeroForOne=false when MAD is currency0).

Expected: the swap succeeds, 120,000 FWA reaches the pool, 120,000 FWA becomes Playground/NFT claims, 11,760,000 FWA is burned and alice pays 12,000,000 FWA.

Actual: afterSwap -> _collect -> poolManager.take(FWA, hook, 11,760,000e18) reverts (WrappedError(hook, afterSwap, ERC20TransferFailed -> InsufficientBalance())) and the whole swap fails.

A 1,000,000 FWA buy in the same state succeeds, so the outcome depends only on the manager's pre-existing FWA balance. test/scratch/ExcessTake.t.sol test_largeEarlyBuyDoesNotDependOnManagerFloat fails on this tree.

FWA V2 lets any holder relist an NFT with fresh backing, so a winner (or a later owner) can relist a prize and the helper's random draw can land on it again.

The helper then pays the acquisition fee, wins the listing, and claim(requestId) reverts InvalidPurchase for the whole settlement window although the listing is Allocated, the purchaser is the helper and the window is open. The draw is lost and after the window the NFT is finalized into the helper where finding 1 strands it. purchases[requestId].claimed already prevents one listing being queued twice, so the pair guard is only needed while the helper still owns the NFT.

Reported by audit_flow and audit_economics; merged.

Fix: delete registeredNFT[nft] in award() on successful delivery, or check IERC721(collection).ownerOf(tokenId) != address(this) instead of the mapping.

      1. rewards.buy() -> R1; listing for (collection C, tokenId 7) fulfilled; claim(R1) keeps it, registeredNFT[keccak(C,7)] = true.

      2. alice freezes bob, 7200 blocks pass, closeRound() assigns token 7 to round 1; after 72h award(1) sends token 7 to alice.

      3. alice lists token 7 in FWA V2 again.

      4. rewards.buy() -> R2 wins listing L2 for (C,7), status 2, purchaser MadRewards, window open.

      5. rewards.claim(R2).

Expected: keepNFT(L2) is called and the helper holds token 7 as the next prize (prizeCount 2).

Actual: claim reverts InvalidPurchase at line 191; the acquisition fee is spent and the listing is never settled by the helper. test/scratch/Proof_ed8325f8e4f0.t.sol test_relistedFormerPrizeCanBeKeptAgain fails on this tree with InvalidPurchase().

    • lowsetOracleSettings lets the owner key route all donated IMD to itself and dictate round winners (owner trust gap)src/MadRewards.sol:141

The brief allows the owner to set reference oracle settings, and the setter is onlyOwner, but the only validation of a new intake is intake_.code.length != 0 and the signer may be any nonzero address. askWinner reads price = intake.priceOf(action, imd), checks the helper's balance covers it, forceApproves it and calls requestWithFailure, so an owner-chosen intake that quotes the helper's whole IMD balance pulls every donated token out in one ask. requests[id] snapshots the owner's intake and signer, so that contract can then call onOracleResult with an attestation signed by the owner's key naming any address, which the helper accepts as the winner.

This contradicts the brief's 'no result changes or arbitrary withdrawals' for a compromised or malicious owner key. Documented as a trust assumption rather than a permission bypass; a design-preserving mitigation is to pin the signer to the fixed oracle key and cap the price paid per ask (or allow-list IdentityMD intakes).

State: trading enabled, rewards holds 100 IMD donated, round 1 closed (alice froze bob, 7200 blocks, closeRound, 8 more blocks).

      1. owner deploys OwnerIntake whose priceOf returns IERC20(asset).balanceOf(msg.sender) and whose requestWithFailure transferFroms that amount to the owner.

      2. owner calls rewards.setOracleSettings(OwnerIntake, IMD, bytes32('x'), ownerKey): passes validation.

      3. anyone calls rewards.askWinner(1).

Expected: the helper pays only the oracle's live price and cannot be emptied.

Actual: all 100 IMD move to the owner (test/scratch/Proof_0a147db546f9.t.sol fails on this tree with 'donated IMD must stay in the helper: 0 != 100e18'); OwnerIntake may then deliver an owner-signed attestation and fix any winner.

    • lowpurchases are keyed by request id only, so a replacement FWA V2 pool whose ids repeat the old pool's bricks buy() and claim()src/MadRewards.sol:166

purchases[requestId] stores the source pool (line 168) but the guard on line 166 only asks whether any pool already produced that id, and claim() resolves p.source from the same id-only key. If the owner switches fwaV2 (an admin action the brief supports) to a deployment whose request ids overlap the old pool's, every buy() whose new id collides reverts InvalidPurchase after the live acquire, and a gifted draw with a colliding id resolves to the old pool and cannot be settled.

This reproduces against any pool using a per-deployment counter; the live FWA V2 appears to use Chainlink VRF request ids, which are unique across consumers, so the precondition depends on the replacement pool's id scheme and the severity is low.

Fix: key purchases by keccak256(abi.encode(source, requestId)) and look up the same key in claim().

State: trading enabled, rewards holds 10 ETH, owner set fwaV2 = P1 (ids start at 1).

      1. rewards.buy() -> P1 returns id 1, purchases[1] = {P1,false}.

      2. owner calls rewards.setFwaV2(P2) where P2 is a fresh deployment whose ids also start at 1.

      3. rewards.buy(): quote covered, no blackout, acquire on P2 succeeds and returns id 1, then line 166 sees purchases[1].source == P1 and reverts InvalidPurchase.

Expected: the purchase is recorded for P2.

Actual: buy() reverts for every colliding id. test/scratch/Proof_9e6279e0807f.t.sol fails on this tree with InvalidPurchase().

    • lowNFT FWA->ETH conversion runs inside any swapper's unlock with only static owner bounds, so accumulated claims can be sold down to the owner floor by a sandwichsrc/MadHook.sol:311

Any MAD swap (sells are open to every sender) triggers executeNFTConversion from afterSwap inside the swapper's own unlock, selling the whole nftFwaClaims balance exact-input on the ETH/FWA pool.

The only protections are the owner's absolute sqrt-price ceiling (line 304) and minEthPerFwaX18 (line 311), which are static while the market moves; to avoid constant deferral the owner must keep them below market, and that gap is extractable: push ETH-per-FWA down to just above the floor on the ETH/FWA pool, do a tiny MAD sell to trigger the conversion, buy the FWA back.

The first conversion after setConversionBounds releases every claim accumulated since launch in one sale and is the largest target. The brief accepts an owner price bound, so this is a bounded leak, not a broken guarantee. Reported by audit_permissions and audit_economics; merged.

Mitigations that keep the design: cap the FWA sold per conversion, or a relative bound against the pool's pre-swap price.

      State: owner set conversionSqrtPriceLimitX96 and minEthPerFwaX18 at 80% of market; nftFwaClaims = 10,000 FWA; ETH/FWA market at 1 FWA = 0.001 ETH.

Attacker router in one unlock: (1) swap FWA->ETH on ethFwaPool until ETH-per-FWA = 0.00081; (2) swap 1 MAD -> FWA on the MAD pool; afterSwap -> executeNFTConversion sells 10,000 FWA at about 0.00081, passing both the floor and ceiling checks; (3) swap ETH->FWA on ethFwaPool to unwind.

Expected: the NFT budget receives about 10 ETH less the market's fee.

Actual: about 8.1 ETH; the difference minus the attacker's own fees is captured by the attacker.

    • lowsetUseGlobalDistributors(false) strands MAD already held by registry-only distributors and makes that custody freezablesrc/MadToken.sol:135

The exemption is evaluated live at transfer time (isDistributor, lines 139-149) with no record of value that entered custody under the old rule. A contract V that is a global distributor but not a local one can receive MAD from any holder while useGlobalDistributors is true.

When the owner flips the flag, V is an ordinary contract: it cannot send to anyone (line 244 requires msg.sender == from == tx.origin with no code), and because isDistributor(V) is now false any wallet may freeze(V) for 1% of V's balance, with half the cost credited to V and locked there. The owner and registry are trust assumptions in the brief, so this is recorded as an owner power whose write moment changes the fate of in-flight value.

Mitigation: mirror the registry into localDistributors for holders at flip time, or timelock the flip.

State: trading enabled; registry.isGlobalDistributor(V) = true; useGlobalDistributors = true; alice (EOA) transfers 100,000 MAD to contract V (allowed by isDistributor(to)).

      Owner calls setUseGlobalDistributors(false).

      Then V.transfer(alice, 100_000e18) reverts InvalidTransfer (V has code, msg.sender != tx.origin); bob (EOA) calls freeze(V): passes (V is no longer a distributor), bob pays 1,000 MAD, 500 burned, 500 credited to V, V frozen 24h.

Expected per the custody model: value that entered exempt custody stays movable.

Actual: V's 100,500 MAD are immovable until the owner re-enables the registry or adds V locally.

    • lowLeaderboard spend can be bought at half price by freezing one's own second walletsrc/MadToken.sol:166

freeze() credits the full cost (1% of the target's balance) to spent[round][caller] (line 166) but only cost/2 is burned (line 171); the other half is transferred to the target (line 173). The only self-dealing guard is target != msg.sender. A caller who funds a second wallet and freezes it pays an effective 0.5% while being credited 1%, and the frozen wallet is their own.

MIN_LEADER_SPENT (1000 MAD) and the leader race are reachable at half the cost an honest freezer of a stranger pays. The brief admits no absolute anti-parking guarantee, so this is a design limitation for the author to decide on (credit only the burned half, or treat targets funded by the caller in the round as self-dealing).

State: trading enabled, round 1. alice holds 10,000,000 MAD, transfers 100,000 MAD to her alt wallet.

      Call: vm.prank(alice, alice); mad.freeze(alt).

Expected ('Full cost per caller/round'): alice is out 1,000 MAD for 1,000 MAD of spent.

Actual: spent(1, alice) == 1000e18, leader(1) == alice, but balanceOf(alice) + balanceOf(alt) fell by only 500e18 (totalSupply fell 500e18). bob freezing an unrelated carol for the same cost loses the full amount.

The brief only requires that >=6h-unanswered requests may be retried and that a retry invalidates the old request; here the request is still the round's live request (active == true, rounds[round].requestId == id) yet its answer is discarded, so the IMD paid is spent for nothing and a second priceOf() payment is needed.

With validForSeconds = 3600 an answer issued late in hour six and delivered seconds past the boundary is lost; if the helper holds no more IMD the round falls back to savedLeader after 72h instead of the oracle's winner. Reported by write_foundry_tests and audit_math; merged.

Fix: apply the 6h timeout only in askWinner (supersession) and accept an unsuperseded answer up to close + 72h.

      State: round 1 closed at time C; askWinner(1) at T = C + 1h pays priceOf and stores askedAt = T.

      Call: the intake delivers onOracleResult(id, a, sig) at block.timestamp = T + 6h (any time before C + 72h) with a valid signature, a.issuedAt = T + 5h59m, a.expiresAt = a.issuedAt + 3600, matching questionHash/window/panel.

Expected: the first valid nonzero winner before close + 72h is accepted since no other ask exists.

Actual: revert WindowClosed(); requests[id].active stays true, rounds[1].winner stays zero; askWinner(1) must be called again and pays priceOf a second time.

Revision complete. All three held proofs now pass, and the full suite is green.

    What I reproduced and fixed

    • Late-delivered NFT stranded (src/MadRewards.sol, claim): claim still authenticates the acquisition and listing purchaser as the helper, then checks whether the helper already owns the NFT. If so, it registers the prize without consulting the listing status or settlement window. Otherwise the previous keep-inside-window path applies.
    • Excess take exceeds manager float (src/MadHook.sol, _collect): the same-swap physical take and burn is capped at the manager's FWA balance. The uncovered remainder is minted as a burn-only ERC-6909 claim tracked in pendingBurnClaims, flushed by the next swap's collection or the new public burnExcess(). totalBurned counts committed excess, so revenue and burn accounting still sum to the full fee.
    • registeredNFT never cleared (src/MadRewards.sol, award): the registration is cleared before delivery and restored if delivery fails, so a relisted and redrawn former prize is keepable while a held one still cannot be queued twice.
    • 6h timeout refused a live answer (advisory, fixed): onOracleResult no longer rejects at askedAt + 6h. The timeout only lets askWinner supersede an unanswered request. The 72h deadline and supersession checks are unchanged.

Advisories answered as disputed with README trust notes rather than code: owner-chosen oracle intake and signer, request-id keyed purchases, static conversion bounds, the global-distributor flip, and half-price self-freezes. Each is either the brief's stated rule or an owner power the brief grants.

  11. ManifestAgent #392no changes

The existing launch.json already describes the accepted tree exactly, so I left it unchanged.

What I verified against the source

    • Hook: MadHook's constructor takes the pool manager, the MAD token and the factory, in that order. The manifest writes them as "$poolManager", "$token", "$factory". Owner is a fixed constant in MadBase, so no owner argument exists.
    • Permissions: getHookPermissions enables beforeInitialize, beforeSwap, afterSwap, beforeSwapReturnDelta and afterSwapReturnDelta. The manifest lists exactly those five.
    • Token: MadToken has a no-argument constructor that mints INITIAL_SUPPLY to msg.sender once. The manifest's constructorArgs is empty and totalSupply is 1,000,000,000 times 10^18 in minor units.
    • Pool: paired currency is the FWA address, fee 12500, tickSpacing 60, initialPrice the launch reference value. beforeInitialize accepts fee 12500 and spacing 60.
    • Schema shape: "kind" is the first key, addresses are lowercase, and notes are well under the 4,000-character cap.

    Checks run

forge build -> succeeded (lint warnings only)
    forge test         -> 7 suites, 93 passed, 0 failed

The test run used the verifier's fuzz seed. The working tree is clean with no diff, since the manifest already matched and no file outside launch.json was touched.

    launch.json
  12. Write foundry testsAgent #12942 files changed

I added two test files covering what the implementer changed this round. The full suite passes with the verifier's fuzz seed: 128 tests in 13 suites, none failing. I found no defect, so there is no .imd-findings.json. I didn't touch anything outside test/, and the existing tests are unchanged.

test/MadFreshLaunch.t.sol: the new deferred-burn logic, on a realistic launch. A small factory contract deploys MAD and the hook, opens the pool and seeds it with MAD only, all in one call, like the real launch. So the PoolManager holds no FWA when trading opens. That is exactly when an early buy owes more excess fee than the manager can physically take, and the code before this round would have reverted.

    • Unit tests (8):
      • The first buy at the 99% fee holds back all 980 FWA of excess as a burn-only claim, and burnExcess() later burns exactly that much.
      • The first buy also defers when it specifies the MAD it wants rather than the FWA it pays.
      • Several buys in one unlock all defer, and the claims stay fully backed by real FWA.
      • A sell after a held-back buy clears the backlog.
      • Once the fee has decayed to 1%, swaps have no excess, so only burnExcess() clears the backlog.
      • burnExcess() before trading does nothing, and the callback can't be called directly.
    • Invariant suite (random buys, sells in both modes, burns, payouts, time):
      • The hook's FWA claims always equal Playground's share + the NFT share + the burn backlog.
      • Amount burned plus the backlog equals all the excess the hook has committed to burn, and FWA supply falls by exactly the amount burned.
      • The manager's FWA always covers the hook's claims.
      • Playground's paid plus owed equals what it earned.
      • Outside a swap, burnExcess() always clears the whole backlog and never touches revenue.

test/MadRevisionRewards.t.sol: late NFT adoption and late oracle answers (6 tests).

    • A late-delivered NFT is still adopted after the owner switches to a different FWA V2 pool, because each purchase keeps its original pool.
    • A draw that was never fulfilled can't be adopted late.
    • A request older than 6 hours that nobody replaced is still answered at close + 72h − 1s. At close + 72h the answer is rejected and the saved leader becomes the beneficiary.
    • A new ask can't replace the live one at 6h − 1s, but can at 6h. The old answer is then rejected, and the first valid answer to the new ask stands.
    • A winner contract that sends the prize straight back leaves the NFT with the helper, unregistered. It can't be claimed again from its original draw or assigned to another round.

Three behaviours to know about (none of them is a defect):

    • A later swap burns the backlog only up to the FWA already in the manager, because its own payment isn't settled yet. The rest waits for burnExcess(). The README says this.
    • After the fee decays, swaps never clear the backlog on their own. Someone has to call burnExcess(); the README lists this as a keeper task.
    • A prize handed back by a winner stays in the helper with no way to recover it. The README states this too.

  13. Audit judgeAgent #268found 5 info

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json is written.

    Settled from the previous round

    • Stranded late-delivered NFT (medium): fixed. claim now adopts an NFT the helper already owns from its own allocation, regardless of listing status or window. My proof passes on this tree.
    • Excess fee take exceeding the manager's FWA float (medium): fixed. The hook burns only what the float covers inside the swap and holds the rest as a burn-only claim that the next swap or public burnExcess() flushes. Delta accounting nets to zero in both branches. My proof passes.
    • registeredNFT never cleared (medium): fixed. award clears the registration before delivery and restores it on failure. My proof passes.
    • Valid oracle answer refused after six hours (low): fixed. The timeout now only lets askWinner supersede a request. The author's new tests cover the boundary.

Disputed advisories: the five low notes still reproduce, but the author's answers hold against the brief. Owner-set oracle settings, the id-only purchase key, the static conversion floor, the immediate registry flip, and the half-price self-freeze are all powers or rules the brief states, and the README now documents each. I recorded them as info trust notes with the disputes accepted, so nothing blocks the launch.

New leads checked and dropped: audit_flow's claim that a ranked list longer than one entry would be rejected is unverified. The oracle reference's own head-1 conformance vector signs a one-element list, so the strict check matches the protocol as documented.

Verification run: all seven earlier proofs executed against the revised code, and the project's full suite passed with 128 tests. The coverage record answers all 34 entry points, every one as holds, with five rows pointing at the accepted trust notes. The scratch directory was removed, and the working tree holds only the findings file.

    • infoTrust assumption (dispute accepted, no change required): setOracleSettings lets the owner key route donated IMD to an owner intake and choose the signer for later askssrc/MadRewards.sol:141

Round-two settlement of e76b1462. The behaviour still reproduces on this tree (the earlier proof still fails: all donated IMD moves to an owner-chosen intake and an owner-chosen signer decides later winners).

The author answered that the brief grants the owner the power to set reference oracle settings (intake, IMD, action, signer) and names the owner as a trust assumption; outstanding requests keep their request-time intake and signer (requests[id] snapshots them, line 296), so a settings change never alters a live ask. That answer matches the brief, so this is recorded as the accepted owner-trust assumption the README now states, not as a defect to fix.

State: trading enabled, rewards holds 100 IMD, round 1 closed and 8 blocks old.

Owner deploys OwnerIntake (priceOf returns IERC20(asset).balanceOf(msg.sender); requestWithFailure transferFroms that amount to the owner), calls rewards.setOracleSettings(OwnerIntake, IMD, bytes32('x'), ownerKey); anyone calls rewards.askWinner(1).

Result: helper IMD balance 0 (Proof_0a147db546f9 still fails with 'donated IMD must stay in the helper: 0 != 100e18').

Accepted as the owner power the brief grants.

    • infoTrust assumption (dispute accepted, no change required): purchases are keyed by request id only, so a replacement FWA V2 pool with colliding ids would make buy() revertsrc/MadRewards.sol:166

Round-two settlement of 5eafac7e. Still reproduces against a mock pool whose ids restart at 1 (Proof_9e6279e0807f still fails with InvalidPurchase).

The author answered that the brief fixes the settlement interface as claim(requestId) with no source argument, so purchases must resolve from the id alone, that the live FWA V2 uses Chainlink VRF request ids which do not repeat across consumers, and that pointing setFwaV2 at a pool with a colliding id scheme is an owner action within the owner trust assumption. The README now documents the constraint. Accepted; the precondition requires an owner mistake with a non-VRF pool.

State: trading enabled, rewards holds 10 ETH, fwaV2 = P1 whose ids start at 1.

      1. rewards.buy() -> id 1.

      2. owner setFwaV2(P2), a fresh deployment whose ids also start at 1.

      3. rewards.buy(): acquire on P2 returns id 1, line 166 sees purchases[1].source == P1 and reverts InvalidPurchase.

Not reachable with the live VRF-id pool.

    • infoTrust assumption (dispute accepted, no change required): NFT FWA->ETH conversion inside any swapper's unlock sells down to the owner's static floor, so accumulated claims are sandwichable within that src/MadHook.sol:337

      Round-two settlement of 4e4495fc.

Unchanged code: executeNFTConversion sells the whole nftFwaClaims balance exact-input on the ETH/FWA pool bounded only by the owner's absolute sqrt-price ceiling (line 330) and minEthPerFwaX18 (line 337). The brief requires conversion on the official ETH/FWA pool in the current unlock under an owner price bound, which is what the code does; the author correctly notes a pre-swap relative bound would not stop a sandwich that moves the price before the MAD swap.

Recorded as the bounded leak the README now advises the owner to limit by keeping bounds close to market and refreshing them before the first conversion after launch.

State: bounds at 80% of market, nftFwaClaims = 10,000 FWA, ETH/FWA at 0.001 ETH per FWA.

Attacker in one unlock: sell FWA on ethFwaPool to 0.00081 ETH per FWA; sell 1 MAD on the MAD pool (afterSwap converts 10,000 FWA at ~0.00081, passing both bounds); buy FWA back.

NFT budget receives ~8.1 ETH instead of ~10 ETH.

Bounded by the owner's chosen floor.

    • infoTrust assumption (dispute accepted, no change required): setUseGlobalDistributors(false) is immediate and makes MAD parked in registry-only custody immovable and freezablesrc/MadToken.sol:135

      Round-two settlement of fc77422d.

Unchanged code: the exemption is evaluated live in isDistributor (lines 139-149), so a contract V that is a global but not local distributor loses its exemption the moment the owner flips the flag, after which V cannot send (line 244) and any wallet may freeze(V).

The owner and registry are trust assumptions in the brief, the registry exposes only a per-address lookup so a mirror at flip time is not possible on chain, and the README now instructs the owner to add registry-only custodians with setDistributors before flipping. Accepted as a documented owner power.

State: trading enabled, registry.isGlobalDistributor(V) = true, alice transfers 100,000 MAD to V.

      Owner calls setUseGlobalDistributors(false).

      V.transfer(alice, 100_000e18) reverts InvalidTransfer; bob calls freeze(V): succeeds, V frozen 24h, 500 MAD credited to V.

V's MAD is immovable until the owner re-enables the registry or adds V locally.

    • infoDesign note (dispute accepted, no change required): freezing a wallet one controls costs an effective 0.5% while the full 1% is credited as round spendingsrc/MadToken.sol:166

Round-two settlement of 314e4097 (also audit_math this round).

Unchanged code: the full cost is credited to spent[round][caller] (line 167) while only cost/2 is burned (line 171) and the rest is transferred to the target (line 173); target != msg.sender is the only self-dealing guard. The author answered that this is the brief's exact rule (cost = floor(balance/100), burn floor(cost/2), credit the remainder, full cost counts per caller per round) and that the brief grants no anti-self-dealing guarantee beyond the listed target checks.

That matches the brief; the README now states the half-price outcome. Accepted.

State: trading enabled, round 1, alice holds 10,000,000 MAD and sends 100,000 MAD to her alt wallet. vm.prank(alice, alice); mad.freeze(alt). spent(1, alice) == 1000e18 and leader(1) == alice while balanceOf(alice)+balanceOf(alt) fell by only 500e18. bob freezing an unrelated carol for the same cost loses the full 1,000 MAD.
