EthUsdReader: a tiny Solidity contract, with no token and no owner, that reads the ETH/USD price from a Chainlink price feed and refuses a stale or non-positive price. Include mainnet fork tests against the live Chainlink ETH/USD feed.

    Done. The project is committed on main as commit 34f91f4, with no submodules.

    What was built

    • src/EthUsdReader.sol: constructor takes the aggregator address and maxAge, both immutable, with no external call. latestPrice() reads latestRoundData, reverts StalePrice(updatedAt) when the answer is older than maxAge, then BadPrice(answer) when the answer is zero or negative. No token, no owner, no storage. A DECIMALS constant of 8 documents the feed's precision.
    • test/EthUsdReader.t.sol: 24 unit and fuzz tests against a mock feed. They cover fresh, boundary and future timestamps, zero updatedAt, zero, negative and extreme answers, error precedence, feed reverts, a code-less target, and a storage-is-empty check.
    • test/EthUsdReader.fork.t.sol: 6 mainnet fork tests against the live Chainlink ETH/USD feed, pinned to block 26252743. They verify the feed's code, decimals and description, compare the reader's output to the feed verbatim and to the recorded value at that block, and exercise StalePrice via warp and BadPrice via mocking the live feed's answer.
    • script/DeployEthUsdReader.s.sol plus 3 tests calling its deploy function directly. Config is constants, not environment variables.
    • lib/forge-std v1.9.7 vendored as plain files. README.md documents parameters, assumptions and operational responsibilities.

    Two things to be aware of

    • The fork tests use the public endpoint named in foundry.toml rather than an environment variable, since tests may not read the environment. On the offline verifier they skip cleanly instead of failing, as shown above.
    • The maxAge of 3 hours in the deploy script is my choice based on the feed's 1-hour heartbeat. It is documented as a deployer decision in the README and is easy to change before deploying.
