Build the web app fully specified at: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/GGBossman/piste-foil-trainer/main/BUILD_PROMPT.md

Step 1: Download that file (curl/wget/fetch). It is the complete, authoritative spec — every decision is already made. Do not ask questions.

Step 2: Before writing code, print the spec's Section 6 technique IDs (FW01–FW25, PA01–PA20, AT01–AT18, BL01–BL14, RR01–RR11, CT01–CT12) to prove you read it in full.

Step 3: Build following its milestones M0–M9; run npm run build, npm test, npm run validate:data until all pass.

Step 4: Deliver the finished project and report the test summary.

If you cannot fetch the URL, stop and say "SPEC UNREACHABLE" — do not improvise the app.

    • highbug: technique playback overflows the phone viewportweb/src/ui/ui.module.css:97

Now: At 390 px the Lunge and Disengage views render a 425 px document; the stage and playback-speed group extend beyond the right edge. The home page also expands to 332 px at a 320 px viewport.

Change to: Allow the shared grid and flex children to shrink (min-width: 0), constrain the transport segmented group to max-width: 100%, and wrap its buttons within the available panel width. Keep the scene, scrubber and every playback speed visible without horizontal scrolling.

Why: The review requires no horizontal scrolling at 320, 390 or 1440 px, and Learn must support touch playback.

Chromium, viewport 390×844, fresh storage: open #/learn/FW04 or #/learn/AT03. document.documentElement.scrollWidth is 425 while innerWidth is 390; the rightmost speed button and canvas continue past x=390 in the screenshot.

      On #/ at 320×700, taste@1 layout reports “320px: page is 332px wide”.

Expected: scrollWidth <= viewport width and all transport controls contained.

    • highbug: the referee awards a touch that the scoring box rejectedweb/src/sim/phrase.ts:666

Now: The referee uses claimed hit events even after geometric contact validation rejects them. A 2.00 m left-handed demonstrator performing BL14 is awarded the touch while only the right green lamp registers.

Change to: Derive scoring hit events from the registered contacts after geometry and lockout filtering, and pass those events to the referee and priority explanation. A rejected contact must not score.

Why: Sections 0.5, 2 and 5.5 require every awarded touch to pass animated-geometry verification and the referee to agree with the scoring box.

Viewport 1440×900 (logic is width independent).

Set the left fencer to 2.00 m and left-handed, leave the right fencer at 1.78 m/right-handed, and open #/learn/BL14; pause and scrub past 0.8 s.

The demo calls the touch for the left fencer although only green lights.

Headless reproduction: demoFor("BL14", {seed:1,tempoSec:0.3,left:{height:2,handed:-1},right:{height:1.78,handed:1}}) returns verdict.scorer="left", lights.red=false, lights.green=true and registered=[{side:"right",tick:56,valid:true,part:"trunk"}]; its unverified left hit event is at tick 53.

Expected: a single valid right light awards right under rule 10.

    • highfidelity: successful parries are called with the blades far apartweb/src/sim/phrase.ts:452

Now: The resolver declares a successful parry from the deception table and deflects the attacker without placing the two blades in contact. In the default Sixte demo the nearest blade axes are about 0.462 m apart at the recorded contact.

Change to: Apply the existing contact-frame IK to both blade rigs at the parry event so their segments meet at a shared contact point, and verify that contact before emitting a successful parry. Reuse that contact in the blade-contact overlay and referee timeline.

Why: Sections 0.1 and 2 require accurate 3D demonstrations; Section 2 explicitly requires tips and blades to meet physically at the exact tick for parries, beats and binds.

Viewport 1440×900, default settings: open #/learn/PA02, pause, and scrub to tick 45 (0.375 s), the successful parry event in demoFor("PA02", DEFAULT_CONFIG).

The blades remain separated, despite the demo reporting a caught straight thrust and proceeding to the riposte.

Rebuild both skeletons from result.frames[45] and compare their 14 blade segments: 10 evenly spaced samples per segment give a minimum axis gap of 0.461654 m (at most 0.003215 m sampling error), versus under 0.009 m combined blade thickness.

      PA01 similarly measures 0.197386 m and PA04 0.477224 m.

Expected: blade contact at the recorded contact tick.

    • highfidelity: Tempo Mode drops actions while a turn animation playsweb/src/modes/Fencing.tsx:279

Now: Tempo Mode resolves a complete simultaneous slice on each keypress, removes the pad during playback, and ignores every further key until stage returns to pick. It also substitutes an NPC when Human is selected.

Change to: Keep the existing Tempo action controls live during the exchange and timestamp each accepted action at the current simulation tick, including overlapping footwork and blade actions; schedule the NPC response from its actual reaction delay. Respect the selected opponent.

Why: Section 4.4 requires real-time Tempo Mode in which actions start the moment they are pressed with real reaction timing, using the same footwork-plus-blade action set.

Viewport 1440×900, #/fence: choose Tempo Mode, leave NPC Club selected, click En garde, press D, then press A or Q immediately during the advance.

The pad disappears, “Resolving the tempo slice…” appears, and the second key has no effect; it is discarded by the stage guard rather than starting at its press time.

The same setup with Human still calls npcChoose(...,"club",...).

Expected: real-time retreat/parry input while the first movement is playing and the chosen opponent retained.

    • highfidelity: Build It cannot assemble an action sequenceweb/src/modes/Drills.tsx:105

Now: Build It shows four already-written sentence answers. One click completes the round, and the demonstration is just demoFor(good.id), so the preparation and the described opponent are not part of a constructed sequence.

Change to: Let the visitor select and order the existing preparation and finishing action cards, validate that assembled sequence for the stated situation, and play that sequence against the described partner.

Why: Section 4.5 requires the visitor to construct an ordered sequence for the stated situation; selecting a complete sentence does not implement that interaction.

Viewport 1440×900, #/drills → Build It → Start Build It.

Every round has exactly four whole-sentence answer buttons, e.g. “Advance to lunge distance, then Counter-disengage”, and no action selector, ordering control or sequence state.

Clicking a sentence immediately reveals Correct/Not quite and Next round.

Expected: assemble the action sequence before submitting it.

    • mediumfidelity: Dérobement coaching instructs the opposite blade actionweb/src/data/techniques.ts:470

Now: BL14 correctly describes evading contact, but its generated tactical note says “Dérobement controls the opponent’s blade before the hit; do it with the forte on the faible.” That is instruction for an attack on the blade, which the dérobement is meant to avoid.

Change to: Give the derobe role its own note: “Keep the arm straight and evade the attempted blade contact with the fingers; keep the point threatening the target.” Retain the contact instruction only on the applicable blade-control techniques.

Why: Section 7 requires precise, actionable coaching; Section 5.4 defines dérobement as evading an attack on the blade while keeping point in line.

Viewport 1440×900 or 390×844: open #/learn/BL14 and read What it is, Execution, and Tactical notes.

The first two say to evade the blade while maintaining line; Tactical notes explicitly says to control the other blade with forte on faible.

Expected: the tactical note teaches evasion rather than the opposite contact action.

    • highfidelity: reliable-counter demos set the counter up to failweb/src/modes/demo.ts:108

Now: Counter Explorer combines two IDs at the attack’s default line and distance, without arranging the situation in which the listed counter works. The default “reliable” quarte counter to FW04 loses because the lunge is aimed outside; the “reliable” septime answer to AT06 similarly closes the wrong line.

Change to: Use a scenario for each counter link: aim FW04 into high-in for quarte and AT06 into low-in for septime, choose the appropriate measure/timing, and include prerequisite parry slices for riposte counters. Keep the listed reliability tied to the situation actually shown.

Why: Sections 0.3 and 4.3 require attack-versus-counter demos that show each counter’s purpose; Section 5.4 requires parries to close the attack’s final line.

Viewport 1440×900, default settings: open #/counters/FW04/PA01. The card says Quarte parry is reliable and “closes the line”, but the referee awards the left lunge; Why? reports “Quarte parry closed the wrong line.” Headless versusFor("FW04","PA01",DEFAULT_CONFIG) returns scorer="left" with that note. #/counters/AT06/PA03 repeats the defect with “Septime parry closed the wrong line.” Expected: the demo uses the line and setup described by the reliable counter link.

    • highfidelity: the foundational lunge never straightens the rear legweb/src/anim/poses.ts:83

Now: The full-lunge pose leaves the rear knee bent about 39.5° and the front shin tilted about 7.5° instead of the required straight rear leg and vertical front shin. Advance-lunge reuses the same faulty pose.

Change to: Correct the shared LUNGE_LOWER pelvis height, pelvis displacement and foot placement against the existing rig dimensions, solving for a nearly extended rear leg and front knee directly over the ankle while keeping the rear foot flat and lean at or below 15°.

Why: Section 3.3 explicitly requires “The rear leg drives to full extension” and a heel-first landing “with the shin vertical and the knee over the instep”; these are core coaching demonstrations.

Viewport 1440×900, default 1.78 m fencers: open #/learn/FW04, pause and scrub to tick 48 (0.400 s), when the tip arrives.

The rear knee visibly remains bent. buildSkeleton(demoFor("FW04", DEFAULT_CONFIG).frames[48].left, makeRig(1.78)) returns rearKneeFlex=39.512292°, front knee x=-0.187067 m and front ankle x=-0.243863 m (56.8 mm mismatch; shin tilt 7.48544°).

      FW13 at tick 77 repeats rearKneeFlex=39.508643°.

Expected: rear knee near 0° flexion and knee/ankle aligned at full lunge.

    • mediumbug: coaching steps advance before the demonstrated actionweb/src/modes/Learn.tsx:128

Now: The active execution step divides only the first slice into equal intervals, regardless of phase or subsequent riposte slices. The Sixte demo highlights the riposte instruction while the incoming attack is still arriving.

Change to: Associate each execution step with its authored phase or sync event over the whole demonstration, and use those tick ranges to select the active step. The riposte step must begin at the actual riposte start after parry contact.

Why: Section 4.2 requires execution steps synced to the demonstration; teaching the next action before the parry happens reverses the sequence.

Viewport 1440×900, default settings: open #/learn/PA02, pause and set the timeline to tick 36 (0.300 s).

Execution highlights “Riposte from where the parry ends.” The successful parry event is at tick 45 (0.375 s), so the UI calls for the riposte nine ticks before the parry even contacts.

Expected: highlight the incoming parry steps until the actual riposte start in the second slice.

    • mediumaccessibility: lit scoring-lamp labels fail text contrastweb/src/ui/ui.module.css:272

Now: The lit red and green scoring lamps use 13 px white text on #e5484d and #30a46c. Their contrast ratios are 3.91:1 and 3.16:1, so the labels become less readable precisely when a touch registers; the colorblind shape labels inherit this too.

Change to: Use the existing var(--color-on-accent) (#111317) for the text in both .lampRed and .lampGreen; that yields approximately 4.75:1 and 5.89:1 while preserving the fencer colors.

Why: WCAG 1.4.3 and the review bar require at least 4.5:1 for 13 px text.

      Viewport 1440×900 or 390×844: open #/learn/FW04, pause and scrub to tick 60 (0.5 s).

The lit Left lamp computes font-size:13px, color:rgb(255,255,255), background-color:rgb(229,72,77), ratio 3.9137:1.

Open the BL14 example with left height 2.00 m/left-handed and scrub to 1 s to light green: white on rgb(48,164,108) measures 3.1568:1.

Expected: both normal-size labels at least 4.5:1.

    • highbug: low-line circular parries stop high-line straight thrustsweb/src/sim/phrase.ts:144

Now: The circular-parry branch checks only whether an attack evades a circle; it never checks the final line. Counter-septime and counter-octave therefore stop a straight high-outside thrust and award a riposte from the wrong line.

Change to: For a straight attack, require the circular parry’s ending position to close the attack’s final line before returning parried; preserve the separate circular-deception rules for disengages and doublés.

Why: Section 5.4 explicitly says a straight thrust is caught by a circular parry ending in its final line. Low-line parries cannot be unconditional answers to high-line thrusts.

Viewport 1440×900, default settings: open #/counters/AT02/PA11, let it finish, and open Why?.

The high-outside straight thrust is shown as parried by counter-septime (inside low), then the right fencer receives Parade-riposte de droite.

Headless: parryOutcome(getTechnique("AT02").sim,getTechnique("PA11").sim.parry) returns "parried" although the attack finalLine is "high-out" and the parry positions are ["septime"]; versusFor("AT02","PA11",DEFAULT_CONFIG) emits success:true at tick 45 and scorer:"right".

      PA12 repeats the defect.

Expected: wrongLine and the original high attack remains un-parried.

    • highbug: an end-line penalty is awarded with one foot still on the pisteweb/src/sim/phrase.ts:571

Now: The end-line check tests only the rear heel, then captions the result as both feet crossing. A fencer loses a touch while the front foot is still 35 cm inside the piste.

Change to: Check the front and rear foot extents against the same end boundary and award the penalty only after both feet have crossed that end line. Keep the existing rule-11 caption for the corrected condition.

Why: Section 5.6 rule 11 explicitly requires crossing the end line with both feet for a penalty touch.

Viewport 1440×900; engine state is width independent.

      Run runPhrase({...DEFAULT_CONFIG,leftX:-6.9,rightX:-2.4}, [[{foot:"FW01"},{}]]).

At the emitted endLine event (tick 52), buildSkeleton(result.frames[52].left,makeRig(1.78)) gives rear heel x=-7.12 m but front heel x=-6.65 m, so only the rear foot is beyond the -7 m end line.

Actual verdict: scorer="right", penalty=true, “Off the end line: penalty touch to the right”.

Expected: no penalty until the front foot also crosses -7 m.

The same condition is reached while retreating toward an end in Fencing Mode.

Tempo accepts overlapping, immediate inputsMet: advance, parry and retreat retain distinct press timestamps during one exchange. Human mode generates no NPC actions.
Build It constructs an ordered sequenceMet: individual cards support selection, reordering and removal; grading waits for submission and playback uses the submitted sequence.
Reliable counters demonstrate their stated purposeMet: FW04/PA01 and AT06/PA03 physically parry and award right, without wrong-line explanations.
Lunge straightens the rear legMet: FW04 and FW13 measure approximately 0.548° rear-knee flexion, negligible front-shin tilt and 12° torso lean.
Circular parries close the final attack lineMet: AT02 against PA11/PA12 returns wrongLine; the original attack scores.
End-line penalty requires both feet acrossMet: the reported one-foot setup produces no penalty; tests verify the first complete crossing.
Dérobement coaching teaches evasionMet: the tactical note now teaches finger evasion while maintaining the straight, threatening arm.
Execution steps follow demonstrated eventsMet: Sixte retains the parry instruction at tick 36; riposte instruction begins at actual riposte start, tick 51.
Lit lamp labels meet contrast requirementsMet: measured red 4.751:1 and green 5.890:1 at 13 px.

Build passed, 226/226 tests passed, and data validation passed for 100 techniques and 6,000 sampled poses. These commands ran in an isolated copy. Production Chromium checks also passed without missing resources, script errors or external runtime requests.

The two probe flags concern Home navigation being mistaken for a heading label and the existing five font weights. Neither became a new finding. WebKit could not launch, so Safari remains unverified; reference-hardware performance was not measured.

Piste’s visual idea remains clear: a dark foil-training room organized around red and green fencer identities. This review closes the twelve supplied findings; it does not claim a fresh exhaustive audit of unchanged fencing behavior.
