PAPER DESK v4: make the terminal fully LIVE with zero perceptible delay between Papertrade activity and the chart, bring in the tuned indicator set, re-implement the owner's local refinements so this repository becomes the single source of truth, and pass an independent quality review.

A. Live data (highest priority). Today the client polls (positions/summary every 5s, trades every 30s, marks every 5s, a 15s chart reconcile), so a newly opened or closed trade can take up to 30s to appear and the forming candle steps. Replace polling with one Server-Sent Events stream served by our backend, keeping the read-only nature and CSP connect-src 'self':

GET /api/stream?address=0x..&symbol=ETH|BTC (text/event-stream). Events, each data: is JSON:

  • mark {symbol, price, t} where t is ms epoch; Papertrade's own Hyperliquid-mid price, pushed several times a second.
  • positions {address, positions: Position[]} full open-position snapshot, pushed immediately whenever Papertrade's live account feed changes.
  • trade {address, trade: Trade} pushed when a position closes, is liquidated, or hits TP/SL.
  • summary Summary, pushed on change.
  • heartbeat {t} every 5s. Client rules: one EventSource per (address, symbol), recreated on change; fold every mark into the forming candle immediately (requestAnimationFrame-coalesced, at most one chart update per frame), including roll-over to a new bar; apply positions and trade events to the tables, header, entry/bust price lines and account markers in the same frame, so a new entry arrow appears the instant the position appears and its exit marker the instant it closes; recompute the active indicator incrementally for the last bar on each mark and fully on each bar close; never repaint confirmed bars. Show a live-latency badge in the header (now minus last mark t, and age of last account event) that turns amber above 1.5s and red above 5s. If no event arrives for 10s, reconnect with backoff, show RECONNECTING, and fall back to polling the existing GET routes every 2s until the stream is healthy again. Keep everything working in mock mode (?mock=1) with a simulated stream that opens and closes positions so the live path can be seen and tested. Make the chart keep working when the browser tab is in the background and catch up instantly when it becomes visible. Add vitest tests for the stream reducer (event ordering, duplicate and out-of-order events, bar roll-over, reconnect fallback).

B. Indicator dropdown with tuned indicators. Add a native beside the timeframe buttons with: Bollinger strategy (default), Moving averages, MA ribbon, SuperTrend, Ichimoku, TD Sequential (DeMark), RSI, MACD, Stochastic, Volume, and the existing ERL-100 signal layer. Implement each with the TUNED parameters and the exact long and short setups (trigger, confirmation bar, stop inside bust, target/trailing, time stop, filters) from the tuning report and tuning.json attached to the build step as inputs (.imd/reads/artifacts/tuningReport and .imd/reads/artifacts/tuning; also public at https://api.imd.fun/artifacts/9192786bee06cc298914a72245224d5c1a6445d025c51db37a89f3de12e6da7a and https://api.imd.fun/artifacts/f1c8591e30a2e8945ec176d7a162156e4ac4737aff45749110a99828fa401d11). Oscillators (RSI, MACD, Stochastic, Volume) go in a second chart pane. Each mode shows its setup markers at small size and, for the latest active setup, its stop and target as price lines. Show each indicator's out-of-sample result from tuning.json (trades, win rate, mean R, profit factor, bust rate) in the legend and a clear warning that no tuned indicator showed a positive net edge at 100x in that test. Persist the choice in localStorage. Pure indicator math lives in src/indicators/.ts with vitest tests.

C. Re-implement these owner refinements exactly: default market ETH; account entry arrows size 0.36, exit squares size 0.165, liquidations as a hot pink #FF2D78 circle size 0.36 with legend text "● LIQ"; a drag handle under the chart (role=separator, keyboard arrows +/-40px, double-click resets) that resizes chart height vertically between 240 and 2400px, persisted in localStorage; header metrics PAPER staked and Staking earned plus a line with unclaimed, claimed, share of all staked and wallet PAPER, from new optional Summary fields paperBalance, paperStaked, stakingPendingUsd, stakingClaimedUsd, stakingEarnedUsd, stakedSharePct (staking rewards are USDC, not PAPER); rename the PAPER minted metric to PAPER held (wallet plus staked).

  3. Adversarial reviewAgent #1295found 3 medium, 3 low, 1 info

Review complete. The findings file is written at .imd-findings.json with 7 entries, all snippet lines verified against the tree.

What I checked. The stream reducer, controller, transport and SSE server; the chart's mark folding, bar roll-over, incremental indicator update and series lifecycle; all ten tuned indicator steps and the setup engine for lookahead; account markers and sizes; the resize handle; number formatting; CSP and network calls; and the existing suites. The repo suite passes 213/213 after installing dependencies. I found no third-party network calls, no inline scripts, no repainting of confirmed bars, no lookahead in the indicator math, and no series or pane leak when switching indicators (lightweight-charts v5 removes emptied panes).

    Findings, ranked:

    • Medium: reconnect never re-syncs trade history. After the fallback poll and the resumed stream becoming healthy, no GET is issued again and the server's snapshot carries no trades. A position that closes in that window vanishes from the positions table but never appears in HISTORY and gets no exit marker until reload. Reproduced by test/scratch/reconnect-gap.test.ts, which fails on the current tree.
    • Medium: client clock 1.5s or more ahead of the mark source. Stream health compares server mark time with client time, so status never leaves CONNECTING (UI shows LOADING), and a previously started fallback timer polls every 2s forever next to a working stream. Reproduced in test/scratch/clock-skew.test.ts.
    • Medium: client clock 5s or more behind. The transport drops every mark, heartbeats keep the watchdog quiet, so the chart freezes with no fallback and no recovery.
    • Low: revision check never reset on reconnect. A stream whose ids restart lower (second backend instance, clock stepped back) has all events dropped and loops RECONNECTING.
    • Low: latency badge goes red for any idle account after 5s even when LIVE. Visible in mock mode within six seconds of load.
    • Low: market toggle rebuilds the whole store and refetches every page of trades and cashflows, blanking tables and markers each click.
    • Info: test gap. Existing controller tests stop sending marks after resume and never stamp marks with skewed times, so none of the above is covered.

No file in the repository was changed. The scratch tests, a scratch vitest config, and node_modules are the only additions, all outside the submitted tree.

    • mediumReconnect never re-syncs trade history: a position closed between the fallback poll and the resumed stream is lost until page reloadsrc/live/controller.ts:123

The only paths that call poll() are start() and failed(). When the SSE transport drops, failed() polls once immediately and reconnects after 500ms. As soon as the resumed stream is healthy, event() clears the fallback timer and no GET is ever issued again.

The server stores only mark/positions/summary in hub.latest (server/stream.mjs:106, 'trades are caught up through GET'), so a trade event emitted while the client was disconnected is never replayed.

Any trade that closes after the fallback GET /trades answered but before the stream is healthy again is therefore absent from live.trades: the position disappears from the positions table (the positions snapshot no longer lists it) but no row appears in HISTORY, the exit square/LIQ circle is never drawn on the chart, and win-rate/trade-count metrics stay stale until the user reloads.

This contradicts the objective ('its exit marker the instant it closes') and the v3 behaviour (30s trades poll) it replaced. The same window exists for every reconnect cause: server sink.destroy() on slow consumers, proxy idle timeouts, the 10s silence watchdog, and mobile backgrounding.

Controller with a fake transport (vitest, fake timers): start(), deliver mark+positions so status is LIVE.

Call the transport onError at T0 (controller polls, GET /trades returns []).

At T0+200ms make GET /trades return the closed trade for position 'p'.

At T0+500ms the reconnect factory is called; deliver positions {positions: []} and a mark, then keep delivering marks every 200ms for 30s.

      Expected: live.trades contains 'p'.

Actual: live.trades is [] and backend.trades is never called again.

      Test test/scratch/reconnect-gap.test.ts fails with 'expected [] to deeply equal [ "p" ]'.

    • mediumClient clock more than 1.5s ahead of the mark source: stream never reaches LIVE, UI stays on LOADING, stale fallback timer keeps polling every 2s next to a healthy streamsrc/live/reducer.ts:201

streamHealthy() compares the server-stamped mark.t with the client's Date.now(). With a client clock 1.5s or more ahead (ordinary consumer clock drift, VM clocks, a phone without NTP), every call returns false even though marks arrive every 200ms and are folded into the chart.

Consequences in DeskStream.event(): status never leaves CONNECTING (Header shows LOADING forever and the badge is amber), attempt is never reset, and if any earlier failure started pollTimer it is never cleared, so the client issues 5 GET requests every 2s indefinitely while also consuming the stream.

The spec asks for the badge to reflect now minus mark t, but gating connection health on the same cross-machine comparison is an implementation choice that turns clock skew into a permanent degraded state with no recovery.

DeskStream with a fake transport, fake timers at now.

      After start(), every 200ms send mark {symbol:'ETH', price, t: Date.now() - 2000} and positions {positions: []} for 20s, then flush.

      Expected: live.status === 'LIVE'.

Actual: live.status === 'CONNECTING' while live.mark.price shows the latest mark.

Test test/scratch/clock-skew.test.ts (first case) fails with "expected 'CONNECTING' to be 'LIVE'".

    • mediumClient clock more than 5s behind the mark source: every mark is discarded at the trust boundary, chart freezes, and the heartbeat keeps the watchdog from falling backsrc/live/transport.ts:24

decodeEvent() rejects any mark whose server timestamp is more than 5s later than the client's Date.now(). A client whose clock is behind the server by 5s or more therefore drops 100% of marks (decodeEvent returns null, onEvent is never called). Heartbeat events are still accepted, so lastEvent stays fresh, the 10s silence watchdog never fires, fallback polling never starts and status stays CONNECTING.

The user sees a frozen forming candle, no price updates in the header, and LOADING in the status badge, with nothing that recovers. The same guard is reapplied in accountEventBars (now + 5000) for position/trade timestamps.

decodeEvent('mark', JSON.stringify({symbol:'ETH', price:100, t: now + 6000}), '1', now) returns null (test/scratch/clock-skew.test.ts second case). End to end: set the client OS clock 6s behind the backend, open /?address=0x…, observe the chart never advances while the Network tab shows the /api/stream connection receiving mark frames.

    • lowReducer revision check is never reset on reconnect: a stream whose ids restart lower silently drops every mark/positions/summary event foreversrc/live/reducer.ts:83

versions[type] is only cleared during the bootstrap replay in start(). After a reconnect, any event whose decimal id is not greater than the last id seen on the previous connection is discarded. The server's epoch is Date.now()*1e6 + random per process, so two backend instances behind a balancer (or a host whose clock was stepped backwards before a restart) hand out ids that are lower than those the client already holds.

All marks, positions and summary events are then dropped; because reduceStream returns the same state object, event() returns before updating lastEvent, the watchdog declares silence after 10s, and the client loops RECONNECTING with 2s polling indefinitely even though the stream is delivering correct data.

      state = reduceStream(initialLiveState(addr,'ETH'), {type:'mark', id:'1800000000000000000', data:{symbol:'ETH',price:100,t:now}, receivedAt:now}); then reduceStream(state, {type:'mark', id:'7', data:{symbol:'ETH',price:101,t:now+200}, receivedAt:now+200}) returns the first state unchanged (mark.price stays 100). Expected after a reconnect: the new connection's events are applied; actual: ignored.

    • lowLatency badge turns red on every healthy, idle account because account age is measured from the last account change, not from stream healthsrc/components/Header.tsx:115

age is the max of mark age and account age, and accountAt is the receivedAt of the last positions/summary/trade event. Positions snapshots are pushed only on change (spec) and the mock pushes them every ~6s, so any account with no activity for 5s shows a red badge while marks are 100ms fresh and status is LIVE. A red badge is defined by the objective as a latency alarm; here it fires in the normal idle state, so it carries no signal.

The mock.ts comment at line 386 acknowledges the behaviour.

      Open /?mock=1&address=0x1111111111111111111111111111111111111111.

Within 6s of load the header badge reads 'Mark 0.1s · Account 5.4s' in red while the status pill says LIVE; it flips green for a moment after each simulated open/close and returns to red ~5s later.

Expected (spec): red only when live data is more than 5s late.

    • lowSwitching market recreates the whole DeskStream and refetches every page of trades and cashflows, blanking the account tables and chart markers until bootstrap completessrc/useAccount.ts:22

The objective requires the EventSource to be recreated per (address, symbol). useAccount instead disposes the entire store on a symbol change, so positions, trades, cashflows, summary and markets are refetched from scratch with readAllPages(..., 75) for trades and cashflows.

For an account with N settled trades this is ceil(N/75) sequential GET /api/trades calls plus ceil(M/75) cashflow calls per BTC/ETH click, during which account.trades is null: the TradesTable shows its loading state, all entry/exit markers vanish from the chart, and the metrics show '--'. Rapid toggling multiplies the load.

Load an account with more than 150 settled trades (mock mode generates one).

      Click BTC then ETH.

Observe in the Network tab 3+ sequential /api/trades?cursor= requests per click and, in the UI, the Recent trades table and metrics resetting to '--' for the duration.

Expected: only /api/stream is re-opened with the new symbol; account data is retained.

    • infoTest gap: the reconnect test stops the stream after health and never verifies history continuity, so the lost-trade window and clock-skew states are untestedsrc/live/controller.test.ts:103

controller.test.ts exercises failure, fallback start and fallback stop, but every case either stops sending marks after the resume (so the watchdog's silence path masks missing resyncs) or stamps marks with Date.now() (so the client/server timestamp comparison in streamHealthy and decodeEvent is never exercised with skew). No test asserts that a trade closed during a disconnect reaches live.trades, nor that a mark with t = now - 2000 can ever produce LIVE.

The reducer tests cover ordering and rollover well; the uncovered behaviour is exactly where the three findings above live.

Run the two files under test/scratch with npx vitest run --config test/scratch/vitest.config.ts: 3 of 3 cases fail on the current tree, while npx vitest run passes 213/213.

needs input: The independent review report defining this assignment's findings, severity levels, and failing inputs is still missing. The complete supplied reads are .imd/reads/project.md (project history) and .imd/reads/artifacts/research (earlier Papertrade research). Repository records artifacts/validation.md and artifacts/v4-validation.md document earlier fixes, not the independent review requested here. The previous attempt's missing input has not been supplied. Selecting new defects ourselves would violate the explicit requirement to touch only what the review findings name. — Can you supply the independent review findings with severity levels and failing inputs, or explicitly authorize a fresh review of requirements A–C to define the repair scope?
