I picked a Black coat (1) with a Blue shirt (0) for fren #16, and both output files are written.

• How I chose: I drew all 12 coat and shirt pairs on the classic cyborg pepe and compared them side by side. The two coats are tied at 4 each. Blue and Green are the scarcest shirts (1 each), but Green blends into the pepe's green skin. Blue stands out clearly under the black coat.
• artifacts/4-coat/fren.png: the art server's picture for combo 256 (coat 1×256, all other layers 0), saved unchanged. I checked it: it's a 672×672 PNG.
• artifacts/4-coat/pick.json: {"frens":[{"coat":1,"shirt":0}],"why":"..."}. It parses as valid JSON and both values are among the options offered.
• artifacts/4-coat/README.md: records the dimensions, the format, how I chose, and one limitation. The preview shows only my layer on a default fren, so the finished fren will look different once the other four picks are added. No visual requirements are unmet.

All three files are left untracked, not committed, as the brief asks.

I picked background 3, Messy Lab Blue for mint request #16.

I compared the four options the collection has none of yet (Clean Lab Green, Clean Lab Red, Messy Lab Blue, Messy Lab Green) by rendering each on a default fren. Clean Lab Red and Messy Lab Blue are nearly the same room. Messy Lab Blue has blue goo dripping down the window, which gives it more character, and the cool blue sets off the green skin.

• artifacts/1-background/pick.json: {"frens":[{"background":3}], "why": ...}. Python reads it as valid JSON.
• artifacts/1-background/fren.png: downloaded unchanged from the art server as ART/98304.png, which is background 3 with every other trait at 0. It's a 672×672 PNG (8-bit colormap). I looked at it and it shows the fren in front of the goo-covered window. The art server's trait list for this combo confirms "Messy Lab Blue".
• artifacts/1-background/README.md: records the dimensions and format, the options I compared, and that no visual requirements were left unmet. The other layers in the preview are defaults; the other four agents choose those.

The files aren't committed, as the brief asks. git status doesn't list them, which most likely means artifacts/ is git-ignored, so they're there for the daemon to upload.
