Built NIGHTWATCH Checker with three draft modes, actionable fixes, copyable examples, report downloads, and the launch kit with 20 prompts.

Build, typecheck, 11 rule tests, Chromium interactions, and all 16 design checks pass. Submission: 1.20 MB, below 8 MiB. WebKit remains unverified because required system libraries are missing.

  3. Design criticAgent #1917found 1 medium, 3 low

I found no broken features, nothing missing or faked against the brief, and 4 findings: one medium and three low. Nothing qualifies as high, so this review doesn't need to reopen the build. All 4 findings are written to .imd-findings.json, and no repository files were changed.

What I ran. The taste probe ran in Chromium at 320, 390 and 1440 and passed every check. I also used the checker in Chromium at 320 and 390. I submitted an empty draft, then loaded and checked the example in all three modes. I edited a draft after checking it to reach the "Draft changed" state, then checked it again. The page never scrolled sideways and there were no console errors.

I also tested the rules directly. A sales draft promising "$5,000 a month, guaranteed" was flagged under "Honest expectations". A draft that says earnings are not guaranteed was not flagged. All three "stronger example" drafts pass every check. WebKit (Safari) did not run: Playwright installed it, but this machine lacks the system libraries it needs to start, so iPhone behaviour is unchecked.

    Requirements

    1. "paste in your work and see exactly what to fix": met. The #draft textarea, plus each finding's "Next step" (src/main.tsx:191).
    2. "checks … against clear rules": met. Eight rules per draft type in src/checker.ts, explained in the "How it works" dialog.
    3. "with an example of the fixed version": met. Each finding has an "Example to adapt" with a Copy button, and "See a stronger example" shows a full rewritten draft (improvedDrafts).
    4. "One screen, useful in the first minute": met. At 390 the first screen shows the draft-type switch, "Try an example", the textarea and "Check my draft".
    5. "Static, runs in the browser": met. A Vite export in dist/ that makes no network requests with your text.
    6. "no wallet, no backend": met.
    7. "Clean, fast, works on a phone": met. No sideways scroll at 320, 390 or 1440, and every probe check passes.
    8. Built for the brief's audience, NIGHTSHIFT and the 9 USDC price: met. Three draft types, and the kit dialog says "planned 9 USDC" (main.tsx:742).
    9. "never invent features or promise earnings": met. The claims and platform rules, and the blueprint asks the reader to verify things 22 times.
    10. "Request owner input for missing community links and approval before paid promotion": met. The note in the kit dialog (main.tsx:751-754).
    11. Guide, 20 prompts, checklist, worked example, product description, sales page, and X and Telegram posts: met in public/nightshift-launch-blueprint.md.
    12. Hosting: after review. The community and purchase links: needs the requester.

The idea in one sentence: a dark, quiet single-screen checker whose one device is the lime "watching eye", which appears in the logo, the empty state and the main button.

    Findings

    • Medium, taste: seven voice lines are stacked around the checker:

      • "Private by design"
      • "Start messy. That's fine."
      • "Ready when you are"
      • "A second pair of eyes"
      • "Your idea. Fewer blind spots."
      • "We'll turn the gaps into next steps."
      • "Specific fixes. Copyable examples. No fluff."

A tool page shouldn't carry slogans, so the fix deletes five of them and rewrites the empty state as "Your fixes appear here", with the exact copy in the file.

    • Low, taste: the panel headings "01 Bring your draft" and "02 Get a clearer next step" describe a mood rather than the task. They become "Paste your draft" and "What to fix", and the 01/02 numbers are removed.

    • Low, accessibility: after a check at 390, the "Review complete" pop-up

    • mediumtaste: seven voice lines stack around the checker (badge, pane note, tag, caption, two-line empty slogan, fluff line)src/main.tsx:487

Now: on a tool page the hero is followed by 'Private by design' (main.tsx:344), 'Start messy. That's fine.' (355), 'Ready when you are' (478), 'A second pair of eyes' (485), 'Your idea.

Fewer blind spots.' (487), 'We'll turn the gaps into next steps.' (491) and 'Specific fixes.

Copyable examples. No fluff.' (521); the privacy badge repeats the privacy note under the button (462).

Change to: delete the .local-badge div (342-345), the .pane-note span (355), the .art-caption span (485), the .empty-note div (519-522) and the 'We'll turn the gaps…' line; make the empty-state h3 'Your fixes appear here' and its p 'Paste a draft or try an example, then select Check my draft.'; change the idle review-tag text to 'No review yet'.

The h1 block takes the full intro width, the empty state closes up around the eye mark and the four check names, which move up about 60px.

Why: the skill says tools are read to get a task done and carry no voice line; 'cut the stack' of four or more slogans; the brief asks for 'practical, no-fluff'.

Width 1440 (and 390 below the editor).

Steps: open dist/index.html via HTTP, do nothing.

Evidence: test/scratch/taste/shots/1440-full.png shows all seven lines at once on the first screen: 'Private by design' isolated at the right of the h1, 'Start messy.

That's fine.' and 'Ready when you are' in the two pane headers, and caption + headline + two-line paragraph + 'Specific fixes.

      Copyable examples.

No fluff.' in the empty review pane.

Expected: one h1, one sub-line, the controls, and an empty state that says what will appear.

    • lowtaste: pane headings name a mood, not the task, behind decorative 01/02 step numberssrc/main.tsx:474

Now: the two panes are headed '01 Bring your draft' and '02 Get a clearer next step'; the second heading stays the same after a review, when the pane holds findings.

Change to: h2 text 'Paste your draft' (main.tsx:353) and 'What to fix' (474); delete both elements (352, 472) so the h2 sits at the left edge of .step-heading.

Why: the skill: on tools 'headings name the task in plain words'; the brief: 'paste in your work and see exactly what to fix'.

      Width 390.

Steps: open the page, select 'Try an example', select 'Check my draft'.

Evidence: a Chromium screenshot of the review at 390 shows '02 Get a clearer next step' above '6 checks need attention'; the heading never names fixes, and at 1440 (test/scratch/taste/shots/1440.png) '01'/'02' sit in a lighter tabular style before each heading.

    • lowaccessibility: the 'Review complete' toast covers a finding row for 4.5 s on phonessrc/styles.css:870

Now: .notice is position: fixed at the bottom centre (styles.css:870-873, 1126-1128) and, right after a check scrolls the review into view, it sits over the second or third result row for 4.5 s (main.tsx:241); its text duplicates the summary heading that is already visible ('6 checks need attention').

Change to: on runCheck keep the announcement for screen readers only — give the notice the existing visually-hidden treatment when its text starts with 'Review complete' (or stop calling setNotice in runCheck, since focus already moves to the review heading which reads the count) and keep the visible toast for copy/download confirmations.

Why: no text over text at 390; the visible copy repeats the h3 directly above it.

      Width 390, Chromium.

Steps: open the page, select 'Try an example', select 'Check my draft'.

Evidence: page scrolls to y=867 and the toast 'Review complete.

6 of 8 checks need attention.' is drawn over the row below 'Price and currency', hiding its title (full-page screenshot at 390 shows the overlap; the viewport screenshot shows it covering the row at the bottom of the screen) until the 4.5 s timer clears it.

    • lowtaste: 'Launch kit' buttons carry an external-link arrow but open an in-page dialogsrc/main.tsx:329

Now: the header 'Launch kit' button (main.tsx:326-330) and 'Explore the launch kit' (653-655) end with the up-right arrow icon that conventionally means 'opens another site or tab', but both call setModal('kit').

Change to: delete the <Icon name="up-right" .../> in both buttons; the header button keeps its book icon and label, and the strip button keeps its label (its text re-centres in the same box).

Why: a control must say what it does; the arrow promises navigation that does not happen.

      Width 390 or 1440.

Steps: select 'Launch kit ↗' in the header.

Expected: a link elsewhere, as the arrow implies.

Actual: a modal dialog 'The NIGHTSHIFT Launch Blueprint' opens in place (header shown in test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png).
