  3. Design criticAgent #32found 3 medium, 2 low

I found no high-severity problems in this build: every brief requirement is met, the product is on the first screen, all 16 taste@1 checks passed and nothing is broken. Five medium and low findings are in .imd-findings.json. I changed no files. The probe's screenshots are in test/scratch/taste/, which git ignores.

    AreaCount
    Brief requirements3: 3 met, 0 missing, 0 faked
Broken features0 (Chromium only, see below)
Product on the first screen at 390Yes: the first post's title and quote are visible, but its actions are below the fold
    taste@1 checks passed16 of 16
Copy findings1 (a stack of four slogans)
Share cardPresent: title, favicon, og:title, og:image (share.png) and description

    Requirements

    • "A website showing the top tweets about identity MD": met. src/posts.json holds 8 real posts with source links and like counts. App.tsx:130 sorts them under "Ranked by likes", and the About dialog says it is a snapshot from Oct 24, 2026, not a live ranking of X. A full ranking across X would need X API access, which is needs the requester, not a gap in the build.
    • "dark green": met. The colours are set in src/styles.css, and the screenshots show it.
    • "a theme of pepes armed with AI": met, with one weakness. The theme comes from the armored Pepes in public/assets/pepe-squad.svg and the Pepe favicon. At 390 the art is cropped to half of one Pepe (finding 4).

The idea: a dark-green reader for the identity.md conversation, carried by one picture, the squad of Pepes armed with AI in the hero. The sidebar's numbered topic list and the slogan lines compete with it and should go.

    Findings

    1. Medium, taste: the hero button costs first-screen space. "Explore the feed" jumps to the feed, which starts 26px below the hero. At 390×844 the first post's "Read on X" link (y=867) and its Save button (y=915) fall below the fold. Deleting the button lifts the feed by about 56px.
    2. Medium, taste (copy): four slogans around one headline. "A little less scrolling. A little more signal.", "Built for the frogs, by the swamp.", "identity.md, in conversation." and "Stay curious. Stay amphibious." Keep the hero headline and cut these four. The finding gives exactly what the sidebar and footer keep.
    3. Medium, taste: the sidebar topic list repeats the topic filters under other names. Clicking "AI agents" turns on the "Protocol" filter. Delete the section, or use the filter names as they are.
    4. Low, fidelity: the Pepe squad is cropped at 390. The art spans x 173–493 but the hero ends at x 374, so the second Pepe is cut off entirely. The finding gives new width and position values.
    5. Low, taste: two date formats. Post dates read "Oct 23 · 2026" and the snapshot label reads "Oct 24, 2026". The year on posts is also hard-coded as 2026.

    What I checked, and what I couldn't

    • Chromium (390): save, the Saved view, search with no results, the clear-filters button and the copy-link fallback dialog all worked, with no console errors.
    • WebKit: it would not launch here because this machine is missing system libraries such as libgtk-4, so Safari behaviour is unverified.
    • The posts: I did not re-open the X posts myself. That they are real and correctly quoted rests on docs/SOURCES.md.

The sandbox made some /dev/null placeholder entries in the repository root, such as .bashrc and .github. They are not real files and I didn't create them, so I left them alone.

    • mediumtaste: the hero's 'Explore the feed' button pushes the first post's actions below the fold at 390src/App.tsx:118

Now: at 390x844 the hero holds a primary button 'Explore the feed' that jumps to #feed, which starts 26px under the hero; the first post card starts at y=612, so its 'Read on X' link (y=867) and Save/Share buttons (y=915) sit below the fold.

Change to: delete the hero's (and its .hero-copy .primary-button rules at styles.css 71 and 259); at <=600px set .hero min-height from 218px to auto so the hero closes up by the button's 40px plus 16px margin, and the feed heading, toolbar and first card move up about 56px.

Why: the bar asks for the product and its main action on the first screen at 390; a button that scrolls to content already in view costs that space and adds nothing.

      Chromium, viewport 390x844, load dist/index.html.

      Measured getBoundingClientRect: .hero 91-309, #feed-title 335-366, first .post-card 612-963, first .read-post 867-895, first card Save button 915-959.

      Both actions are below y=844.

Screenshot test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png ends mid-summary of the first card.

    • mediumtaste: four voice slogans stack in the sidebar and footer around one hero headlinesrc/App.tsx:148

Now: besides the headline 'Signal from the swamp.', the page carries 'A little less scrolling. A little more signal.' (sidebar briefing, line 139), 'Built for the frogs, by the swamp.' (line 143), 'identity.md, in conversation.' and 'Stay curious. Stay amphibious.' (footer, line 148).

Change to: keep the hero headline. Delete the briefing's A little less scrolling.A little more signal. (the secondary copy 'Follow the builders, ideas, and onchain experiments around identity.md.' moves up under 'Welcome to the swamp'), delete the second line of .independent-note so it reads 'An independent community feed.', and in the footer delete identity.md, in conversation. and Stay curious. Stay amphibious. so it holds 'the swamp.' at the left and 'Sources & about' at the right.

Why: four or more slogans is a stack; cut it to the one best line, the headline.

Any width, e.g. 390: scroll to the end of the page (test/scratch/taste/shots/390-full.png, bottom 1/4). The four lines appear in the briefing card, under 'Keep exploring on X', and in the footer. taste@1 slogans check lists the first one at aside.sidebar > section.briefing > p:nth-of-type(1).

    • mediumtaste: the sidebar 'In the conversation' list repeats the topic chips under different namessrc/App.tsx:140

Now: the sidebar list offers 'AI agents', 'Build on IMD', 'Onchain culture', 'The community', each of which only sets the same topic filter as the chips above the feed ('Protocol', 'Builders', 'Culture', 'Community'); clicking 'AI agents' selects the 'Protocol' chip, so one filter has two names. At 390 the list sits below all eight posts, where it scrolls the visitor back up.

Change to: delete the element; 'Voices in the swamp' moves up under the briefing card. If the builder keeps it, use the chip names verbatim ('Protocol', 'Builders', 'Culture', 'Community') and drop the 01-04 numbers.

Why: one control per job, one label per thing; a filter renamed between two places reads as two different features.

Chromium 1440x900: click 'AI agents' in the right sidebar.

The topic chip that becomes pressed is 'Protocol', and the results line reads '2 posts in protocol'.

At 390 the same list renders at the foot of the page (390-full.png) after 'You're all caught up'.

    • lowfidelity: at 390 the armed-Pepe squad is cropped to half of one Pepesrc/styles.css:260

Now: .hero-art is 320px wide with inset-inline-end:-120px inside a hero that clips at x=374, so at 390 the second Pepe and the right half of the first are cut off; the brief's theme reads as one cropped frog head.

Change to: at <=600px set .hero-art { width: 260px; inset-inline-end: -40px; } so both helmets show at the right edge, keeping opacity .85 and the copy column at 65%.

Why: the brief: 'a theme of pepes armed with AI'; the squad is the only place that theme appears besides the favicon.

Chromium 390x844: .hero-art box measures x 173-493 while .hero ends at x 374; 119px of the 320px art (the whole second Pepe) is clipped. Compare test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png (one Pepe) with 1440.png (two Pepes).

    • lowtaste: post dates read 'Oct 23 · 2026' while the snapshot label reads 'Oct 24, 2026'src/App.tsx:35

Now: each card prints the day and year split by a middle dot ('Oct 23 · 2026'), next to the feed's 'Snapshot · Oct 24, 2026' which uses a comma.

Change to: format the date with year in dateFormat (add year: 'numeric') and delete the · 2026 so cards read 'Oct 23, 2026'.

Why: one date format across the page; the dot also reads as a separator between two facts. The hard-coded 2026 is also wrong for any post added from another year.

Any width: compare the first card's date (390.png, right of '• Protocol') with the snapshot label beside 'The feed'.
