1. artifacts/base.png: the base character, a garden gnome with a big white beard and rosy cheeks, three-quarter view; framed from the crown to the waist with the arms in frame.

FOR THE BASE ONLY: the hand that will hold the item is raised in front of the body in a loose EMPTY grip, fingers curled around nothing, and the item itself is NOT drawn on the base: it is a separate In hand layer added later, ON THIS TEMPLATE: crown (top of the head) at y=110, eye line at y=270, chin at y=420, narrowest point of the neck at y=450, head 290px wide at the cheekbones centred on x=512, bare torso and arms down to the waist, shoulders about 640px wide.

Natural proportions for what it is: a human head or skull is about 1.3x taller than wide with a domed cranium and a jaw that narrows, eyes near the vertical midpoint of the head; never squashed or oval.

Transparent background; eyes open; a simple neutral closed mouth drawn on the base, matching the style (there is no separate mouth layer in this collection); no hat or headwear (hats are a separate layer); no glasses or eyewear (a separate layer); NO CLOTHING AT ALL: bare neck and shoulders, no collar, no scarf, no coat, no shirt (clothing is a separate layer drawn on top, and anything on the base shows through behind it); no chains or necklaces (a separate layer).

2. 12 full-canvas opaque backgrounds: PFP convention, each ONE flat colour or a soft two-stop gradient from a consistent palette, optionally a very subtle pattern; no scenery, objects, text or light effects; nothing that competes with the character. Write artifacts/base.png, artifacts/background_01.png .. background_12.png, and artifacts/traits.json: {"backgrounds":[{"file","name","weight"}...]} with weights summing to 100.
