Build and publish Round Prophet: Wheel Brain Duel for Squeekchain Genesis Code — an original beat-the-AI round prediction duel driven by real hamster-wheel settlements. NOT a dashboard, NOT a landing/link-hub, NOT a thin API wrapper, NOT a fork of squeekchain.com, NOT an OBS overlay, and NOT an endless runner.

Purpose: nail the official Genesis line “AI on the wheel / beat-the-AI round predictions” with a memorable best-of-three duel people want to share.

Game fantasy

You challenge Wheel Brain in a Round Duel. Each match lasts up to 3 consecutive Squeekchain rounds. First to win 2 rounds takes the match (“Broke the Brain” / “Brain holds”). No real money, no wallet, no on-chain bets.

Match flow

  1. Pick a Brain persona to fight (all transparent, client-side, no paid AI API):
    • Momentum — extrapolates recent ACTIVE/work streaks
    • Mean-revert — fades after hot streaks toward recent average
    • Timekeeper — weights time-of-day / recent cadence buckets from public history Show a short model card + live weight bars so the AI is explainable.
  2. For each round, before settlement, player locks:
    • Side: next settled round ACTIVE-ish (work > 0) vs IDLE/zero-work
    • Band (optional scoring bonus): Low / Mid / High work vs recent distribution Brain locks its own side+band using only public history; show 1–2 lines of reasoning.
  3. Resolve when builder.anchor.settledThroughRound advances; use /v1/settlements (and status) as ground truth. Score side first, band as tie-break/bonus. Advance match score You vs Brain.
  4. After match: victory/defeat screen + Share Card (canvas image + copy text) e.g. “I beat Wheel Brain (Momentum) 2–1 on rounds N–N+2 — Round Prophet”. localStorage season record OK.

Screens

  • Arena: big duel scoreboard, lock CTA, Brain persona panel, freshness Online/Stale/Offline.
  • Spectator mode: watch Brain call rounds without playing (useful as a second-screen oracle).
  • History rail: last matches + last ~20 rounds.
  • Fairness: “Brain only sees the same public API”.
  • Branding: original dark playful “Round Prophet” / Wheel Brain; light hamster stage flavor in captions (original art/CSS, no stolen assets).
  • English UI, responsive, mobile-friendly.

Data rules

  • Poll https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status ~2s; use /v1/settlements and /v1/measurement/stats for history.
  • Bigint-safe parsing. On API failure: Offline, pause locks/scoring, never invent settlements.
  • No wallet connect, keys, contracts, claims, or SQK airdrop language.

Delivery

  • Real build-website job: public GitHub repo (full source + README explaining duel rules & personas) AND hosted public HTTPS site.
  • Must pass design-critic.
  • Footer: community game · public Squeekchain data · not financial advice · no real-money betting.
  • Do not only run content-check. Do not merge into other projects; this is its own site.

  3. Design criticAgent #880found 1 high, 1 medium, 1 low

The site is in good shape on design: it passes all 16 taste@1 checks, and the duel is fully on the first screen at 390. The main thing to fix is the live feed. It labels healthy data Stale and pauses locks for most of every minute, so I opened one high finding. Findings are in .imd-findings.json (1 high, 1 medium, 1 low). I changed no files.

    AreaCount
    Brief requirements22 met · 0 missing · 0 faked · 3 after review · 1 needs a full live match to confirm
Broken features2 (Stale feed pauses locks; you can lock a round that has already closed)

    taste@1 checks passed16/16
Copy findings0 (45 words of prose on the first phone screen, under the 60 limit)
Share cardpresent (canvas image, copy text and PNG download); I couldn't play a whole match live, so it isn't checked end to end

    Requirements

    • "Pick a Brain persona: Momentum / Mean-revert / Timekeeper" — met. Persona selector, model card and README table.
    • "short model card + live weight bars" — met. The "Inside the Brain" weights are live (65/32/3% on live data).
    • "player locks Side ACTIVE vs IDLE" — met. Active/Idle cards. Low finding: Active is ticked before you choose.
    • "Band Low/Mid/High (optional bonus)" — met. Band buttons with "+1 bonus".
    • "Brain locks its own side+band … 1–2 lines of reasoning" — met. For example: "15 idle in a row… I'm following the streak."
    • "Resolve when settledThroughRound advances; settlements as ground truth" — met. resolveMatch (src/engine.ts:243) never guesses a round it can't prove.
    • "before settlement, player locks" — met as written. Medium finding: the round you lock may already have closed, with its work already public.
    • "Score side first, band as tie-break/bonus" — met. Correct side 3 points, correct band +1.
    • "First to win 2" / "Broke the Brain" / "Brain holds" — met. shareText uses these lines, and a 1–1 finish after three rounds is a draw.
    • "victory/defeat screen + Share Card (canvas + copy text)" — met. src/components/ShareCard.tsx.
    • "localStorage season record" — met. Labelled "Saved in this browser · last 30".
    • "Arena: scoreboard, lock CTA, persona panel, freshness Online/Stale/Offline" — met. High finding: Stale shows most of the time against the live API.
    • "Spectator mode" — met. The Spectate tab shows "Brain's public call".
    • "History rail: last matches + last ~20 rounds" — met. "Your matchbook" plus "20 proven rounds".
    • "Fairness: Brain only sees the same public API" — met. The "Fair by design" strip.
    • Branding: dark, playful, original hamster art — met. src/components/Art.tsx.
    • "English UI, responsive, mobile-friendly" — met. No horizontal scroll at 320, 390 or 1440.
    • "Poll status ~2s; settlements + stats for history" — met. src/useGame.ts:279.
    • "Bigint-safe parsing" — met. lossless-json and BigInt in src/data.ts.
    • "On API failure: Offline, pause locks, never invent settlements" — met. The offline banner reads "Locks and scoring are paused."
    • "No wallet, keys, contracts, claims, airdrop language" — met. None of these appear anywhere.
    • Footer: "community game · public Squeekchain data · not financial advice · no real-money betting" — met.
    • "README explaining duel rules & personas" — met. README.md:31-51.
    • "public GitHub repo" and "hosted public HTTPS site" — after review.
    • "Must pass design-critic" — met. taste@1 16/16.
    • A full three-round match resolving live — not confirmed. Rounds settle about every 10 minutes, so it didn't fit in this run.

    Findings

    1. High — bug: src/data.ts:207 marks status data stale after 15 seconds. The API only refreshes /v1/status about once a minute (samples at 10:14:02, then 10:15:02), even though it reports itself online with a 120-second stale limit. So locks and scoring stay paused about 45 seconds in every 60. Fix: use data.staleAfter * 1000 instead of 15000.

    • highbug: the live feed reads Stale and pauses locks for most of every minute because status freshness allows only 15 ssrc/data.ts:207

Now: freshness() returns "stale" once /v1/status generatedAt is more than 15 s old. canLock and lock() both need "online", and the resolver in useGame.ts only scores when state is "online". The live API makes a new status document about once a minute (generatedAt 10:14:02, then 10:15:02), so the page is Stale with locks and scoring paused for roughly 45 of every 60 seconds.

Change to: base the status age limit on the API's own cadence. Replace 15000 with the measurement window, e.g. now - Date.parse(data.generatedAt) > data.staleAfter * 1000 || (staleAfterSeconds is 120 live). Keep the observedAt check as it is.

Why: the brief asks for Online/Stale/Offline freshness and locks before each settlement. A feed that is healthy but labelled Stale most of the time blocks the main action and mislabels the data.

Width 390, WebKit, serving dist/ with live https://api.squeekchain.com.

Load the page, lock a call, then open Spectate or History.

Within about 10 s the banner reads "Public data is stale.

Locks and scoring resume when it is fresh."

Measured with curl at 2026-11-06T10:14:57Z: /v1/status generatedAt was 2026-11-06T10:14:02.295Z (55 s old, over the 15 s bar) while measurement.freshness was "online" and staleAfterSeconds was 120.

Samples at 10:15:08, 10:15:12 and 10:15:16 all returned generatedAt 10:15:02.492Z, so the document is only refreshed once a minute.

Expected: Online while the API reports online.

Actual: Stale, Lock disabled and the lock() call rejected with "Fresh confirmed history is required.

      Try again when Online."

    • mediumbug: the duel locks on a round that has already closed, and its work is already public in /v1/statussrc/useGame.ts:470

Now: the round you predict is always settledThroughRound + 1 (here and in newMatch, src/engine.ts:214). Settlement trails the round clock, so that round has often already ended. Its work total is then already published in /v1/status builder.queued.closedWorkUnits and oracle.latestClosure, and Brain cannot see that value.

Change to: allow a lock only on a round that is still open. If Date.now() >= snapshot.nextEnd (normalize already computes the end time of anchor+1), either target anchor + 1 + builder.queued.closedRoundCount and use that round's end, or disable Lock with "Round #N has closed. Next call opens at HH:MM."

Why: the brief says "before settlement, player locks" a prediction to "beat-the-AI". When the result is already public before the lock, it is not a prediction, and a visitor who reads the API can win every time.

Width 390, WebKit, live API, 2026-11-06 at about 10:13Z.

The arena showed "Round #374" with "Lock & start duel" enabled.

      At the same moment /v1/status returned settledThroughRound "373", queued {"closedRoundCount":"1","closedWorkUnits":"0"} and oracle.latestClosure {"firstRound":"374","lastRound":"374","acceptedAt":"2026-11-06T10:10:00.814Z"}. /v1/settlements mining.nextRound gave round 374 endsAt 2026-11-06T10:10:00Z.

Clicking Idle then Lock showed "Duel started.

Your first prediction is locked." on round 374.

That round had ended 3 minutes earlier with 0 work already published.

Expected: no lock on a closed round.

Actual: a lock on a known result.

    • lowtaste: Active is preselected, so Lock commits a side the visitor never chosesrc/App.tsx:67

Now: on every new round the Active card already shows the checked tick (screenshot at 390 and 1440), so one tap on Lock commits Active.

Change to: useState<Side | null>(null), keep Lock disabled with the label "Pick Active or Idle" until a side is chosen, and reset to null after each lock.

Why: the duel is about your call. A default call makes some locks accidental and puts a tick on the screen even while the feed is Offline.

Width 390, Chromium or WebKit, fresh load of dist/index.html.

Before any input, the Active card shows a checked tick and Idle shows an empty circle (test/scratch/taste/shots/390.png, y≈1290 at 2x).

Tapping "Lock & start duel" without touching the side cards locks Active.

  4. Build websiteAgent #164122 files changed

Fixed all three reproduced findings: freshness now follows the API window, closed rounds reject locks, and each round requires an explicit side choice. Rebuilt dist/ and recorded responses in .imd-responses.json.

Build, typecheck, 19 unit tests, 16 browser scenarios, and all 16 design checks passed. Bundle: 1.66 MB.

Live verification was limited by an API 403; WebKit lacked required system libraries.

High bug: healthy status becomes StaleFixed. A 55-second-old status permits locking, scoring and navigation. With a 120-second window, 119 seconds stays Online and 121 seconds becomes Stale. Evidence: src/data.ts:207.
Medium bug: closed rounds accept locksFixed. A deadline three minutes past disables Lock. Closure during the final refresh rejects both first and subsequent calls without saving a prediction or result. Spectator calls also wait for an open round. Evidence: src/useGame.ts:391, :417.
Low taste: Active is preselectedFixed. Initial load, subsequent rounds and rematches have zero selected sides; Lock requires an explicit choice. Reload restores an existing locked choice. Evidence: src/App.tsx:67, :98.
