Audit the assembled Hooks Store contracts at commit 50a73539a8619881cb1e0644e1d9d12df7f6c5e4, especially HookListingRegistry, FeaturedPlacements and HookJobRequester. Test ad-deposit accounting, refunds, settlement, withdrawals, reentrancy, recipient changes, listing ownership and metadata revisions, false audit claims, admin powers, and Intake/oracle callback forgery or replay. Reproduce material findings with Foundry tests.

Distinguish local mock tests from unverified live IMD integration; nothing has been deployed.

  • 1.mediumonReviewResult never binds the signed attestation to the ask it settles: a verdict signed for one review ask is accepted as another job's verdictsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:284

            _verifyAttestation(a, signature);

onReviewResult(requestId, a, signature) looks up the pending ask with the Intake-supplied callback argument requestId (reviewOf[requestId]), checks the panel minimums, verifies the EIP-712 signature over a in this contract's domain and consumes a.requestId as a replay key.

It never checks that the attestation answers the ask being settled: a.requestId is not compared with requestId, a.questionHash is only emitted (the contract stores no hash of the review body it sent, unlike job.bodyHash for jobs), and a.chainId is unchecked. Every attestation the oracle genuinely signs for this consumer is therefore interchangeable across all of this consumer's pending asks.

Whoever drives the Intake's completion path (the Intake operator, its upgrade admin, or a routing bug in it) can deliver the oracle's honest 'passed' answer for job B's ask as job A's verdict: job A becomes ReviewStatus.Passed with B's panel size, agreement and panelJobId, reviewOf[askA] is cleared, and because consumed[askB] is now true the genuine delivery for job B later reverts AlreadyConsumed so the job that was actually reviewed can never record that verdict.

The same gap lets a still-valid attestation issued for an earlier, expired ask of the same job settle its re-ask, and lets an answer to a different question template settle a current ask. This contradicts the contract header (lines 14-17), docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md step 5 ('it answers this contract's own pending ask') and docs/THREAT_MODEL.md row 'Forged IMD result, review verdict or replay', all of which state the verdict does not depend on the Intake.

The existing suite signs every attestation with requestId keccak256('oracle uuid'), unrelated to any ask id, so it exercises the gap rather than catching it.

Rated medium: not reachable by a stranger (onlyIntake holds), but defending the Passed badge against exactly this party is the stated purpose of the signature, and the Passed status is what the static site shows as the IMD oracle panel attestation. Reported by four specialists (audit_flow, audit_math, audit_economics, audit_permissions); merged here.

Fix: before _verifyAttestation, if (a.requestId != requestId) revert UnknownOrSettled(requestId); (confirm in the pilot that the live Intake's bytes32 id equals the attestation's left-aligned UUID; if the encodings differ, record the mapping at requestReview and compare the canonical form).

Additionally store keccak256(body) at requestReview and require a.questionHash to match if the pilot shows the oracle hashes the body as sent, and consider checking a.chainId against the template's chain. Update the existing tests to sign the real ask id.

State (local mock Intake, nothing deployed): one requester, two jobs A and B opened by the same creator, both reported delivered by the Intake, creator calls requestReview for each, giving pending asks askA != askB.

The oracle signer key signs attestation aB = {requestId: askB, questionHash: keccak256(B's review body), answerType: BOOL, answer: abi.encode(true), panelSize 7, quorum 5, agreed 6, issuedAt now, expiresAt now+1h} over requester.attestationDigest(aB).

Input: the Intake calls onReviewResult(askA, aB, sig).

Expected: revert (aB names askB, not askA); job A stays Pending, reviewOf(askA) == A, consumed(askB) == false.

Actual: the call succeeds, getJob(A).review == Passed with aB's panel data, reviewOf(askA) deleted, consumed(askB) == true; a later onReviewResult(askB, aB, sig) reverts AlreadyConsumed.

Verified: forge test --match-path test/scratch/Proof_a67604f0c4be.t.sol fails on this commit with 'next call did not revert as expected' (as do the two other specialists' equivalent proofs); with the one-line if (a.requestId != requestId) revert UnknownOrSettled(requestId); inserted before _verifyAttestation the same tests pass.

  • 2.lowHookJobRequester ownership is single-step with no zero-address check (solmate Owned), unlike the store's two-step StoreAdmin; one wrong transferOwnership permanently removes signer and Intake rotationsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21

    contract HookJobRequester is OracleAttestationConsumer, Owned {

HookJobRequester inherits solmate's Owned, whose transferOwnership(newOwner) writes owner = newOwner immediately with no zero-address check and no acceptance step (lib/solmate/src/auth/Owned.sol). The constructor rejects owner_ == address(0) but the running contract does not. FeaturedPlacements deliberately uses StoreAdmin's two-step propose/accept that refuses address(0) and address(this).

The requester's owner is the only party able to rotate the oracle signer (setOracleSigner, needed for the documented IdentityMD signer rotation), move to a new Intake (setIntake), raise maxPrice after a published price move (setPayment), change templates, timeouts and the failure hook, and recover stuck tokens (sweep).

A zero or mistyped argument makes all of these unreachable forever; after the next signer rotation every onReviewResult reverts BadSignature and each paid review ask ends Unanswered. docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md tells operators to put ownership behind a multisig but not that the handover is one-step. This is a hardening of the intended owner role, not a change to it. Reported by three specialists; merged.

Fix: give HookJobRequester the same two-step, zero-checked rotation as StoreAdmin (reuse StoreAdmin in place of Owned, or override transferOwnership to require a nonzero pending owner who accepts).

State: HookJobRequester deployed with owner O.

    Input: O calls transferOwnership(address(0)).

Expected: revert, or a pending proposal that O can cancel and O keeps control.

Actual: the call succeeds, owner() == address(0), and setOracleSigner, setIntake, setPayment, setJobTemplate, setReviewTemplate, setTimeouts, setFailureHook and sweep revert 'UNAUTHORIZED' for every caller from then on.

Verified: forge test --match-path test/scratch/Proof_ce672e6dacae.t.sol fails on this commit with 'ownership must not be lost in one step'.

  • 3.lowSignature verification switches to ERC-1271 only as soon as the oracle signer address has code, so an EIP-7702 delegation by the signer EOA makes every verdict fail BadSignaturesrc/imd/OracleAttestation.sol:162

            if (!SignatureChecker.isValidSignatureNowCalldata(oracleSigner, attestationDigest(a), signature)) {

The vendored OpenZeppelin SignatureChecker.isValidSignatureNowCalldata branches on signer.code.length: with code present it never attempts ECDSA recovery and only staticcalls isValidSignature on the signer address. The documented oracle signer (0x5598aa91...2982) is a plain key and the target chains support EIP-7702, under which an EOA that signs one delegation carries a 23-byte 0xef0100 designator while still producing ordinary ECDSA signatures.

If the IdentityMD signer key ever delegates (wallet batching features, or a delegation to a contract without ERC-1271 support for the raw key), every attestation it signs for this consumer fails with BadSignature inside the Intake's try; reviews sit Pending until expireReview, each paid 0.5 IMD review ask ends Unanswered, and the only remedy is the owner pointing oracleSigner elsewhere. The project's tests run on evm_version cancun and never exercise a signer with code.

    Reported by audit_permissions; reproduced.

Fix: attempt ECDSA recovery against oracleSigner first and fall back to ERC-1271 only when recovery does not yield it (OpenZeppelin's own EIP-7702 guidance), or document that the signer key must never delegate and point oracleSigner at an ERC-1271 registry from the start.

State: a pending review ask; attestation a = {requestId: ask, BOOL, answer true, panelSize 7, quorum 5, agreed 6, valid 1h} signed by the configured signer key (sanity: delivered as-is it settles the ask as Passed).

Then the signer address acquires a 7702-shaped designator (locally vm.etch(signer, 0xef0100 ++ 20-byte delegate with no ERC-1271); on chain a 7702 delegation by the key).

Input: the Intake calls onReviewResult(ask, a, sig).

Expected: an ECDSA signature by the configured key is accepted.

Actual: revert BadSignature(); review stays Pending.

  • 4.infoOwner powers are understated in docs: setIntake plus setOracleSigner let the owner settle or forge verdicts for asks already pending and deliveries for jobs already open, not only 'jobs opened afterwasrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:339

        function setIntake(address to) external onlyOwner {

docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 63 says a malicious owner 'could point the intake or signer at a contract they control and forge review verdicts for jobs opened afterwards'. onlyIntake and _verifyAttestation read the current intake and oracleSigner, and neither jobs nor reviewOf record which intake or signer was configured when the ask was made.

The owner can therefore, in one transaction, set intake to itself and the signer to its own key, call onReviewResult for any already-Pending ask (or onJobResult / onJobFailure for any already-Open job) with a self-signed attestation, and restore the real values; the Passed badge the static site shows for an existing job is then owner-forged, distinguishable only by the surrounding IntakeSet/OracleSignerSet events.

This is the documented trust assumption (multisig owner), not a permission bypass; the defect is that the documented scope of the power is wrong and there is no timelock or per-ask pinning. Reported by audit_permissions; reproduced.

Minimal fix: correct the doc. Optionally record the intake and signer at requestReview/openJob and check the callbacks against them so a rotation cannot retroactively settle earlier asks.

State: job J delivered, review ask pending with the real intake and signer configured.

Input: owner calls setIntake(owner), setOracleSigner(vm.addr(ownerKey)), then onReviewResult(ask, a, sig) with a signed by ownerKey in this contract's domain, then restores intake and signer.

Expected per the docs: not possible for a job already open/pending.

    Actual: getJob(J).review == Passed.

  • 5.infoAfter a listing transfer, the seller's live placement blocks the buyer from advertising for up to 7 days, keeps rendering the seller's revision and payer, and only the seller can cancel itsrc/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159

            if (previous.status == Status.Open && block.timestamp < previous.endsAt) revert AlreadyFeatured();

purchase() admits only the current listing owner but refuses a second live placement per listing regardless of who paid it (AlreadyFeatured), while cancel() admits only the original payer (NotPayer).

Combined with HookListingRegistry's two-step transfer, a seller can buy a 7-day ad (pinning the seller's revision and payer) right before the buyer accepts; the buyer can then neither cancel it nor advertise the listing until endsAt, while the seller keeps the right to cancel at any time and collect the pro-rata refund.

No funds are at risk (the escrow refunds only the payer) and docs/LISTINGS_AND_ADS.md documents each rule individually ('A later owner cannot cancel', 'At most one live placement per listing'), so this is a design consequence to surface to buyers rather than a permission bypass. Reported by three specialists; merged.

If unwanted, the minimal change preserving the economics is to let the current listing owner cancel a placement whose payer is no longer the owner, with the refund still credited to the original payer (or to let the new owner's purchase supersede such a placement the same way).

State: Alice creates listing L (revision 1), deposits 0.1 IMD, purchases placement P for L; Alice proposes Bob; Bob accepts and deposits 0.1 IMD.

Inputs: Bob calls purchase(L, 1, treasury, now) -> reverts AlreadyFeatured; Bob calls cancel(P) -> reverts NotPayer.

One day later Alice calls cancel(P) -> succeeds, refund = 0.1 IMD - floor(0.1 IMD * 1 day / 7 days) credited to Alice's available balance, after which Bob's purchase succeeds.

Expected (buyer's view): Bob can clear or replace the ad on the listing he now owns.

The callback checks the caller is the Intake, that the callback's requestId is a pending ask, the panel minimums, the signature, and one-time consumption. It never compares the attestation's own requestId or questionHash with that ask. So the oracle's honest "passed" answer for job B's review, delivered under job A's ask, marks job A as Passed and then blocks B's genuine delivery with AlreadyConsumed. The existing suite relies on this looseness. The proof test under test/scratch/ReviewAttestationBinding.t.sol fails on this commit and passes with a one-line check that the attestation's request id equals the ask being settled. I verified both directions by patching and restoring the source.
    • Low. HookJobRequester uses solmate's single-step Owned, which accepts the zero address, while the store contracts use two-step StoreAdmin. A mistyped transfer permanently removes signer and Intake rotation. Reproduced locally.

What I checked and found sound (local mock tests, no live IMD integration exists):

    • Ad accounting: cancel and settle conserve exactly 0.1 IMD per placement, rounding favors the payer, and the boundaries at endsAt leave no gap or overlap between cancel and settle. Recipients are pinned per purchase, so rotation cannot take earlier funds.
    • Custody: deposits and withdrawals credit only the caller, use exact balance deltas, debit before transfer, and every custody mutation is guarded against reentrancy including token callbacks.
    • Listings: two-step transfers keep the per-owner identity key consistent in every ordering I traced, metadata revisions are immutable, and nothing can set an audited flag.
    • Admin powers match the documented trust assumptions. The requester owner's ability to swap the Intake or signer is documented, not a bypass.
    • Callback forgery and replay: Intake-only callbacks, one-time job transitions, consumer-domain signatures and consumed ids all work as described, except for the binding gap above.

Not covered: the static site's rendering code and the hook factory were outside the assigned area and I did not review them.

    • mediumonReviewResult never binds the signed attestation to the ask it settles: a verdict signed for job B's review is accepted as job A'ssrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:284

The review verdict is the only chain-verifiable trust signal the static site shows, and the design says it comes solely from the oracle's EIP-712 signature, not from the Intake (docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md: 'it answers this contract's own pending ask').

The callback checks (1) msg.sender is the Intake, (2) the callback argument requestId maps to a pending ask in reviewOf, (3) panel minimums, (4) the signature over a in this contract's domain, and (5) that a.requestId was not consumed before.

It never compares the attestation's own identity fields with the ask being settled: a.requestId (the oracle request UUID the answer belongs to) is only used as a replay key, and a.questionHash (the hash of the question the panel answered, which embeds the job's request id via the review template) is only emitted.

So the relay can deliver the oracle's honest 'passed' answer for ask B under ask A, and job A becomes ReviewStatus.Passed with B's panel size, agreement and panel job id copied into it. The existing test testSameAttestationCannotSettleASecondAsk relies on exactly this looseness (one generic attestation with requestId keccak256('oracle uuid') settles an unrelated ask).

Who can trigger it: whoever drives the Intake's completion path (the IdentityMD writer, a compromised Intake, or an Intake the owner swaps in via setIntake) using any valid, unexpired, not-yet-consumed Passed attestation issued to this consumer, e.g. the answer to a review ask the attacker opened for their own clean job, delivered to the pending ask of their malicious job.

Impact: a false 'IMD oracle panel attested the review step passed' status for code the panel never approved, which is the one thing the signature was added to prevent; the Intake trust assumption documented for delivery is silently extended to the verdict.

Fix: in onReviewResult, require a.requestId == requestId (the live Intake issues UUID-shaped bytes32 ids for oracle.request and the attestation carries the same UUID left-aligned; confirm in the pilot) and, if the pilot shows the canonical question hash is computable from the stored body, also pin a.questionHash to keccak256 of the ask's body stored at requestReview. Either check makes the attached proof pass; the first alone is the minimal change.

Setup: HookJobRequester with templates set, oracle signer key K.

Creator opens job A (specHash 'spec A') and job B (specHash 'spec B'); the Intake reports both delivered; creator calls requestReview for each, getting asks askA != askB (both pending in reviewOf).

The oracle signs attestation a_B = {requestId: askB, questionHash: keccak256(review body for B), answerType: BOOL, answer: abi.encode(true), panelSize 7, quorum 5, agreed 6, issuedAt now, expiresAt now+1h} under this contract's EIP-712 domain with K.

The Intake calls onReviewResult(askA, a_B, sig).

Expected: revert (a_B names askB, not askA) and job A stays Pending.

Actual: the call succeeds, getJob(A).review == Passed, reviewPanelJobId == a_B.panelJobId, consumed[askB] == true, and the genuine delivery onReviewResult(askB, a_B, sig) afterwards reverts AlreadyConsumed, so job B (the one actually reviewed) can never record its verdict from that attestation.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ReviewAttestationBinding.t.sol (fails on this commit with 'next call did not revert as expected'; passes with if (a.requestId != requestId) revert UnknownOrSettled(requestId); inserted before _verifyAttestation).

    • lowHookJobRequester ownership is single-step and accepts address(0), unlike the store's StoreAdmin; a mistyped transfer permanently removes signer/intake rotationsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21

HookJobRequester inherits solmate's Owned, whose transferOwnership(newOwner) sets owner = newOwner immediately with no acceptance step and no zero-address check. The companion store contracts deliberately use StoreAdmin's two-step propose/accept with zero and self rejected, and docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md tells operators to keep this owner behind a multisig because it controls setOracleSigner, setIntake, setPayment, templates and the failure hook.

On this contract the oracle signer and Intake address are expected to rotate ('Only for a protocol move or signer rotation'), so losing the owner is a liveness loss for every future job: once the IdentityMD signer or Intake moves, no review can ever settle and no job can be opened against the new Intake, and sweep is gone too.

Fix: override transferOwnership with a two-step pending-owner flow mirroring StoreAdmin (or reuse StoreAdmin in place of Owned), rejecting address(0) and address(this). This preserves the intended owner role; it only hardens the handover.

Deploy HookJobRequester(owner, intake, imd, signer, 1).

As owner call transferOwnership(address(0)) (or any wrong address).

Expected: revert, or a pending proposal the real new owner must accept.

Actual: owner() == address(0) immediately; a following owner call setOracleSigner(newSigner) reverts 'UNAUTHORIZED', as do setIntake, setPayment, setJobTemplate, setReviewTemplate, setTimeouts, setFailureHook and sweep, with no recovery path.

Verified locally with test/scratch/OwnedZero.t.sol (passes on this commit, showing the state described).

  3. Audit economicsAgent #788found 1 medium, 1 info

The review is complete. The findings file is at the repository root and no tracked file was changed.

Result: one medium defect, one accepted-risk note, no issue found in the ad-escrow economics.

Medium: review verdicts are not bound to the ask they settle. In HookJobRequester.onReviewResult, the only link between the signed oracle attestation and the pending review ask is the unsigned, Intake-supplied callback requestId. The signed a.requestId and a.questionHash are never compared with it, and no hash of the review body is stored. Anyone able to call as the Intake can therefore present job A's genuine "passed" attestation as the answer to job B's ask. Job B shows Passed, job A's own answer is then refused as already consumed and ends Unanswered. This is not reachable by a stranger, but the contract header and docs explicitly claim the signature makes the verdict independent of the Intake, and the existing tests sign attestations with an unrelated request id, which is why they pass. The proof at test/scratch/ReviewVerdictBinding.t.sol fails on this commit and passes with a one-line check that the attestation's request id equals the callback's, which I verified by applying and then reverting the change.

Info: a seller's open ad outlives a listing transfer. After a two-step transfer, the former owner's placement still blocks the buyer's purchase with AlreadyFeatured for up to seven days, keeps displaying the seller's revision and payer, and only the seller can cancel it. This is documented behavior, so it is recorded as a design consequence with its concrete state, not as a defect.

What I checked and found sound, with concrete attempts:

    • Deposit, withdraw, purchase, cancel, settle and proceeds accounting conserve funds exactly. Floor rounding on cancellation keeps earned + refund == PRICE. The project's 128,000-call conservation invariant passes.
    • Reentrancy guards cover every custody mutation, debits precede token calls, and the exact-balance checks reject fee, false-return, no-movement and malformed tokens.
    • Recipient rotation pins the recipient per purchase and expectedRecipient/expectedRevision/deadline stop stale terms. No admin path reaches user balances or locked fees.
    • Listing ownership is two-step, duplicate claims are per owner and rechecked at acceptance, metadata revisions are immutable and append-only, isAudited is always false, and the static site renders all strings with textContent.
    • Intake callbacks are Intake-only, one-shot, and reject unknown or settled ids. Attestations are checked for domain, expiry, panel minimums, type and single use. Owner powers on both contracts match the documented trust assumptions.

Limits. Everything was exercised against local mocks only. The live Intake callback ABI, its request-id format versus the attestation's left-aligned UUID, and gas under the 200,000 stipend with an ERC-1271 signer remain unverified pilot items. The full project suite passes on this commit with 126 tests.

    • mediumonReviewResult never binds the signed attestation to the pending ask: a verdict for job A settles job B's reviewsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:279

The oracle signature exists so that the review verdict does not depend on the Intake (contract header: the Intake's completion is 'NOT a review verdict'; docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md: the answer is accepted only if 'it answers this contract's own pending ask'). But the only link between the signed Attestation and the ask being settled is the unsigned, Intake-supplied callback argument requestId, which selects reviewOf[requestId].

The signed fields that identify what was answered, a.requestId (the oracle request id) and a.questionHash (hash of the question document), are read for _consume and for the event but never compared with requestId or with any record of the ask (the contract stores no hash of the review body it sent, unlike job.bodyHash for the job).

Consequently whoever can call as the Intake (the Intake contract, its operator or upgrade admin, or a mis-routing bug in it) can present any attestation genuinely signed by the oracle for this consumer as the answer to any other pending ask of this consumer: a 'passed' verdict earned by one job is transplanted onto a job whose review never passed, or a 'not passed' verdict is dropped onto a passing job. _consume(a.requestId) only prevents the same attestation from being used twice, so after the swap the legitimate ask can never be settled with its real answer (AlreadyConsumed) and ends as Unanswered.

The existing tests sign attestations with requestId: keccak256("oracle uuid"), a value unrelated to any Intake id, and pass, which is how the gap went unnoticed. a.chainId is likewise unchecked.

Trust boundary: this is not reachable by a stranger (onlyIntake holds), so it is a weakening of the signed-verdict guarantee to 'trust the Intake's routing', not an open forgery; rated medium because the design and docs explicitly claim the signature makes the verdict independent of the Intake, and the Passed flag is what the static site shows as the IMD oracle panel attestation for that job.

Fix: in onReviewResult require a.requestId == requestId (confirm in the pilot that the Intake's bytes32 id equals the attestation's left-aligned UUID; if the encodings differ, store the expected oracle id mapping at requestReview time and compare the canonical form), and store keccak256(body) at requestReview so a.questionHash can be pinned too if the oracle hashes the body as sent; consider also checking a.chainId == block.chainid since the review template fixes the chain.

The proof passes with the one-line a.requestId != requestId revert.

      Local mock Intake (nothing deployed).

Two creators each open a job, get it delivered, and call requestReview, producing pending asks askA and askB (askA != askB).

The oracle signs one genuine attestation for askA: requestId=askA, questionHash=keccak256(bodyOf(askA)), answer=abi.encode(true), panelSize 7, quorum 5, agreed 6, valid 1 hour, signed over requester.attestationDigest(a) in this contract's domain.

The Intake then calls onReviewResult(askB, a, sig).

Expected: revert (the attestation does not answer askB) and job B stays Pending with reviewOf(askB)==jobB.

Actual: the call succeeds, getJob(jobB).review == Passed, reviewOf(askB) is deleted, consumed(askA) == true, and a later onReviewResult(askA, a, sig) reverts AlreadyConsumed so job A can never receive its own passed verdict.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ReviewVerdictBinding.t.sol (fails on this commit; passes once a.requestId is required to equal requestId).

    • infoA former listing owner's open ad blocks the new owner from advertising for up to 7 days and keeps displaying the seller's payer/revisionsrc/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159

The one-live-placement rule is keyed on listingId, while cancel() is restricted to the original payer. After a two-step listing transfer, the seller's still-open placement therefore both blocks the buyer's purchase (AlreadyFeatured) and keeps rendering the seller's chosen revision and payer address under the buyer's listing until it expires, and only the seller can cancel it.

A seller can deliberately buy a placement in the same block as proposeListingOwner to pin their own metadata revision for the full week after the sale. docs/LISTINGS_AND_ADS.md documents that a later owner cannot cancel or receive the old payer's refund, so this is a known design consequence, reported here as an accepted-risk note with its concrete state rather than as a defect; no funds are at risk (the seller's escrow still refunds only the seller).

If the behavior is unwanted, the minimal change preserving the economics is to let the current listing owner cancel a placement whose payer is no longer the owner, with the refund still credited to the original payer, or to let the new owner's purchase supersede an open placement whose payer is not the current owner (cancelling it with the pro-rata refund to that payer).

Alice creates listing 1, deposits 0.1 IMD and purchases placement 1 (revision 1, payer alice) at START.

Alice proposes Bob as owner; Bob accepts.

      Bob deposits 0.1 IMD.

      At START + 7 days - 1 second Bob calls purchase(1, 1, treasury, START + 7 days): reverts AlreadyFeatured.

Bob calls cancel(1): reverts NotPayer. getPlacement(1).payer == alice and revision == 1 while the listing's owner is bob.

Confirmed with test/scratch/TransferBlocksBuyer.t.sol (passes, i.e. the behavior is as described).

  4. Audit permissionsAgent #481found 1 medium, 2 low, 2 info

The review is complete. The findings file is at the repository root, nothing under src/, script/, lib/ or any configuration file was touched, and the only new files are the two scratch tests.

Outcome. The three target contracts hold up well on the areas the task named. Ad-deposit accounting, refunds, settlement, withdrawals, reentrancy guards, recipient pinning, listing ownership and metadata revisions, and Intake callback authentication all behaved as documented under both the existing 126 tests and my own probes. The defects I could substantiate sit at trust boundaries, and one of them is material.

Findings written to .imd-findings.json, most severe first:

    • Medium, src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:284. The review callback verifies the oracle signature and panel but never binds the attestation to the ask it arrives for. An attestation the oracle signed for job A's question is accepted as job B's verdict. Anyone who can route a completion at the Intake can mark a failed job as "Review step passed" without the oracle key. Proof test test/scratch/AttestationBinding.t.sol fails on this commit and passes once the callback checks the attestation's request id or question hash against the ask.
    • Low, src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21. Ownership uses solmate's single-step transfer with no zero check. One bad call loses signer rotation, payment ceiling updates and sweep forever. The sibling StoreAdmin already has the two-step pattern.
    • Low, src/imd/OracleAttestation.sol:162. The vendored signature checker skips ECDSA when the signer address has any code. If the IdentityMD signer EOA ever takes an EIP-7702 delegation, every verdict fails as a bad signature and paid asks end unanswered.
    • Info, src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:339. The integration doc says an owner can only forge verdicts for jobs opened afterwards. In fact setting the intake and signer lets the owner settle reviews that are already pending. This is a trust assumption, but the documented scope is wrong.
    • Info, src/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159. After a listing transfer, the seller's live ad blocks the buyer from advertising for up to 7 days and only the seller can cancel it. Documented, recorded as an ownership asymmetry.

Scope and limits. Everything was exercised against local mocks of the Intake and token. No live IMD integration, oracle signature path, real Intake callback ABI, or 200k-gas stipend with an ERC-1271 signer was verified, and nothing is deployed. The factory and hook were only spot-checked for callback authentication since the prior audit covered them. No static analysis tools were run.

    • mediumonReviewResult accepts an oracle attestation issued for a different review ask (no requestId/questionHash binding)src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:284

onReviewResult(requestId, a, signature) checks that requestId is a pending ask of this contract, that the panel meets the minimums, that the signature verifies in this contract's EIP-712 domain, and that a.requestId was not consumed before.

It never checks that the attestation belongs to the ask it is delivered for: neither a.requestId nor a.questionHash (nor a.chainId) is compared with the ask's own request id or the question body the contract built and stored (job.bodyHash is kept for jobs; nothing is kept for review asks). Every signed answer in this contract's domain is therefore interchangeable across all of the contract's pending asks.

Whoever submits completions to the Intake (the Intake operator, or the deployer/writer role that completes a request, modelled by MockIntake.complete(id, args) being permissionless) can take the 'passed' attestation the oracle issued for job A's question and present it as the verdict for job B, whose own panel answered 'not passed' or has not answered.

The contract records ReviewStatus.Passed with A's panel figures, and the static site shows 'Review step passed: attested by an IMD oracle panel' for B. This is the exact false-review-claim the EIP-712 signature is documented to prevent (THREAT_MODEL.md row 'Forged IMD result, review verdict or replay'); the signature covers requestId and questionHash precisely so a consumer can bind them, and this consumer does not.

Precondition: a party who can route a completion to the wrong ask; the oracle key is not needed.

Fix: store the ask's question binding at requestReview (e.g. reviewQuestion[oracleRequestId] = keccak256(body), or the ask id itself) and in onReviewResult revert unless a.requestId == requestId (if the live Intake's request id equals the attestation's UUID field) or a.questionHash equals the stored question hash (if the canonical question document is the body as sent); confirm which identity holds in the pilot and enforce at least one.

Optionally also pin a.chainId to the template's chain.

State: two delivered jobs A and B of the same requester, both with a pending review ask (askA, askB).

Input: the Intake calls onReviewResult(askB, a, sig) where a.requestId = askA, a.questionHash = keccak256(body of askA), answer = true, panelSize 7 / quorum 5 / agreed 6, signed by the configured oracle signer in this contract's domain.

Expected: revert (attestation does not belong to askB); job B stays Pending.

Actual: accepted; getJob(B).review == Passed, reviewOf(askB) cleared, job A still Pending.

Foundry: test/scratch/AttestationBinding.t.sol fails on this commit with 'next call did not revert as expected'.

    • lowHookJobRequester ownership is single-step and can be set to address(0), permanently losing signer rotation and sweepsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21

HookJobRequester inherits solmate's Owned, whose transferOwnership(newOwner) writes the new owner immediately with no zero-address check and no acceptance step (lib/solmate/src/auth/Owned.sol:39-43). The constructor rejects owner_ == address(0), but the running contract does not.

A typo or a zero argument by the launch owner makes every onlyOwner function unreachable forever: setOracleSigner (needed for the documented IdentityMD signer rotation), setIntake, setPayment (needed when the published price moves above maxPrice), setJobTemplate/setReviewTemplate, setTimeouts, setFailureHook and sweep. After the next oracle signer rotation every onReviewResult reverts BadSignature and all paid review asks end Unanswered.

The sibling StoreAdmin used by FeaturedPlacements already implements a two-step transfer that refuses address(0) and address(this); the requester should use the same pattern (or override transferOwnership to require a nonzero pending owner who accepts).

      Input: owner calls requester.transferOwnership(address(0)).

Expected: revert (or a pending transfer that nobody can accept).

Actual: owner() == address(0); the previous owner's setOracleSigner(newSigner) and sweep(imd, owner, 1) now revert 'UNAUTHORIZED', and no account can ever satisfy onlyOwner again. test/scratch/Review.t.sol::testOwnerCanBeSetToZeroAndAdminIsLostForever demonstrates it.

    • lowSignature check switches to ERC-1271 as soon as the oracle signer address has code, so an EIP-7702 delegation by the signer EOA silently invalidates all verdictssrc/imd/OracleAttestation.sol:162

The vendored OpenZeppelin 5.5.0 SignatureChecker branches on signer.code.length == 0: with code it never tries ECDSA and only calls isValidSignature on the address. The documented oracle signer 0x5598aa91...2982 is a plain key, and the target chains (Ethereum mainnet post-Pectra) support EIP-7702, under which an EOA that signs one delegation gets a 23-byte code designator while still producing ordinary ECDSA signatures.

If the IdentityMD signer key ever delegates (wallet features, batching), every attestation it signs for this consumer fails with BadSignature inside the Intake's try; reviews sit Pending until expireReview, each paid 0.5 IMD ask ends Unanswered, and the requester's only remedy is the owner pointing oracleSigner elsewhere. The project's tests run on evm_version cancun and never exercise a signer with code, so this path is untested.

Fix: try ECDSA recovery first and fall back to ERC-1271 only when recovery does not yield oracleSigner (OpenZeppelin's own 7702 guidance), or document that the signer must never delegate and point oracleSigner at an ERC-1271 registry from the start.

State: a pending review ask; a valid attestation signed by the configured signer key.

Then the signer address acquires code (locally vm.etch(signer, hex"ef0100..."), on chain a 7702 delegation).

Input: Intake calls onReviewResult(ask, a, sig).

Expected: ECDSA signature by the configured key is accepted.

Actual: revert BadSignature; review remains Pending. test/scratch/Review.t.sol::testSignerWithCodeNoLongerVerifiesEcdsa demonstrates it.

    • infoOwner powers are understated: setIntake + setOracleSigner let the owner rewrite verdicts and deliveries of jobs already open or pending, not only 'jobs opened afterwards'src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:339

docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 63 states a malicious owner 'could point the intake or signer at a contract they control and forge review verdicts for jobs opened afterwards'. onlyIntake and _verifyAttestation read the current intake and oracleSigner, and reviewOf/jobs carry no record of which intake or signer was configured when the ask was made.

The owner can therefore, in one transaction, set intake to themselves and the signer to their own key, call onReviewResult for any ask that is already Pending (or onJobResult / onJobFailure for any job already Open) with a self-signed attestation, and restore the real values. The 'Passed' badge shown by site/index.html for an existing job is then owner-forged, and no event distinguishes it from a genuine verdict except the IntakeSet/OracleSignerSet events around it.

This is a trust assumption the design accepts (documented multisig), not a bypass; the finding is that the documented scope of the power is wrong and that there is no timelock or per-ask pinning.

Minimal fix: correct the doc, and consider recording the signer/intake at requestReview and checking against them in the callbacks so a rotation cannot retroactively settle earlier asks.

State: job J delivered, review ask pending with the real intake and signer configured.

Input: owner calls setIntake(owner), setOracleSigner(vm.addr(ownerKey)), then onReviewResult(ask, a, sig) with a signed by ownerKey in this contract's domain.

Expected per the docs: not possible for a job already open.

      Actual: getJob(J).review == Passed. test/scratch/Review.t.sol::testOwnerCanForgeVerdictForAlreadyPendingReview.

    • infoAfter a listing transfer, the previous owner's live placement blocks the new owner from advertising for up to 7 days and only the old payer can cancel itsrc/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159

purchase() admits only the current listing owner but blocks on the latest placement regardless of who paid it, while cancel() admits only the original payer. The two asymmetric guards combine so that a listing bought (two-step transfer accepted) while an ad is live arrives with an ad the buyer cannot stop (it renders the seller's revision and the seller as 'Original payer') and cannot replace until endsAt. The seller keeps the right to cancel and collect the pro-rata refund.

LISTINGS_AND_ADS.md documents that a later owner cannot cancel, so this is a known design choice; it is recorded here because the task asked for ownership/asymmetry gaps and no test covers the combination. If the designers want buyers to be able to clear the slot, allow the current listing owner to cancel with the refund still credited to the payer, or let a new owner's purchase supersede an older payer's open placement.

State: Alice owns listing L, buys placement P (0.1 IMD), proposes transfer to Bob, Bob accepts and deposits 0.1 IMD.

Input: Bob calls cancel(P) then purchase(L, 1, recipient, now).

Expected (buyer's view): Bob can clear or replace the ad on the listing he now owns.

Actual: cancel reverts NotPayer, purchase reverts AlreadyFeatured until P.endsAt. test/scratch/Review.t.sol::testPreviousOwnersPlacementBlocksNewOwner.

    What I found

    • Medium, src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:279. The review callback looks up the pending ask by the Intake-supplied id but never checks that the oracle-signed attestation's requestId matches it, and never pins questionHash or chainId. The relay can deliver job A's genuine "passed" attestation as the completion of job B's ask, and job B is recorded Passed. The signature was meant to make verdicts independent of the relay's honesty, so the threat model's "forged review verdict" control does not hold. The existing suite masks this: every test signs a fixed keccak256("oracle uuid"), and one test relies on the mismatch being accepted. Proof test fails on current code as described.
    • Low, src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21. The requester inherits solmate's Owned, which is one-step with no zero check, unlike StoreAdmin used by the ads contract. transferOwnership(address(0)) succeeds and permanently removes the only authority that can rotate the oracle signer, change the Intake, raise the price ceiling or sweep. Proof test fails on current code.
    • Info, src/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159. After a listing transfer, the seller's live ad blocks the buyer from advertising for up to seven days, the buyer cannot cancel it, and the seller can still cancel for a refund. Each rule is documented individually, so this is a design consequence surfaced for the requester, not a bypass.

What held up under test and review

Ad-deposit accounting, refund rounding, settlement, withdrawals, token-callback reentrancy on every custody path, pinned recipients across rotation, listing ownership and revision snapshots, isAudited always false, Intake-only callbacks, one-time job transitions, attestation replay via consumed, cross-consumer domain binding, and the owner powers documented as trust assumptions. The project's full suite passes (126 tests, including the 58-second stateful conservation invariant).

    Limits

All reproductions run against local mocks of the Intake and token. Nothing was checked against a live Intake, the real oracle signer, the published IMD addresses, or the real callback ABI, and the fix for the medium finding depends on confirming whether the live Intake request id equals the attestation's UUID field. No Slither or Mythril run.

    • mediumonReviewResult accepts a signed verdict for a different ask: a.requestId and questionHash are never bound to the pending review it settlessrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:279

The review verdict is designed so that only an EIP-712 attestation signed by the IdentityMD oracle, not the Intake's word, can set Passed/NotPassed (contract header lines 14-17, docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md step 5: 'it answers this contract's own pending ask').

But onReviewResult looks up the pending ask with the Intake-supplied requestId (reviewOf[requestId]) and then verifies, consumes and decodes the oracle-signed attestation a without ever checking a.requestId == requestId or pinning a.questionHash (or a.chainId) to the ask that was made. The signature therefore proves only that the oracle signed some answer for this contract, not that it answered this ask.

The relay (the Intake, the only permitted msg.sender) can take the genuine 'passed' attestation issued for job A's ask and deliver it as the completion of job B's ask; job B is recorded Passed with A's panel data, and A's real answer can be withheld.

The same gap lets a still-valid attestation from an expired/cleared earlier ask of the same job be redirected to a later ask, and lets a signed answer to a different question template (e.g. after setReviewTemplate changed chainId or definitions) settle a current ask.

The existing suite does not catch this because every test signs a fixed requestId keccak256('oracle uuid') unrelated to the ask id; testSameAttestationCannotSettleASecondAsk (test/HookJobRequester.t.sol:523) even relies on the mismatch being accepted. The threat model's claim that the Intake cannot forge a verdict (docs/THREAT_MODEL.md row 'Forged IMD result, review verdict or replay') does not hold.

Severity is medium because the attacker must control the relay path; it is not low because defending the verdict against that exact party is the stated purpose of the signature.

Fix: before _verifyAttestation, require a.requestId == requestId (if the live Intake id is the oracle request UUID left-aligned, as OracleAttestation.Attestation.requestId documents) and/or store keccak256 of the review body at requestReview and require a.questionHash to match the pinned question (confirm the canonical-document hashing with the live oracle). Also compare a.chainId with the chain named in the template. Update the existing tests to sign the real ask id.

State: two delivered jobs A and B of the same requester, both with a pending review (askA = requestReview(A), askB = requestReview(B)).

The oracle signs, in this contract's domain, an attestation with requestId = askA, answer = abi.encode(true), panelSize 7, quorum 5, agreed 6, valid window.

Input: the Intake calls onReviewResult(askB, attestationForA, signatureForA).

Expected: revert (attestation does not answer askB), job B stays Pending, reviewOf[askB] == B.

Actual: call succeeds, consumed[askA] = true, reviewOf[askB] deleted, getJob(B).review == Passed with A's panel data.

    • lowHookJobRequester uses solmate Owned: single-step transferOwnership with no zero-address check can permanently brick all owner powerssrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21

FeaturedPlacements uses StoreAdmin, a two-step rotation that refuses address(0) and address(this). HookJobRequester instead inherits solmate's Owned (lib/solmate/src/auth/Owned.sol), whose transferOwnership sets owner = newOwner immediately with no zero-address or acceptance step.

The owner is the only party able to rotate the oracle signer (setOracleSigner), move to a new Intake (setIntake), change templates, raise the price ceiling after a published price move (setPayment) or recover stuck tokens (sweep).

One mistyped or zero argument makes all of these unreachable forever: a signer compromise or an Intake price increase then permanently disables the requester. docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md tells operators to put ownership behind a multisig but does not mention that the handover is one-step.

Fix: give HookJobRequester the same two-step, zero-checked rotation as StoreAdmin (or override transferOwnership to revert on address(0) and require acceptance), preserving the intended owner role.

State: HookJobRequester deployed with owner O.

      Input: O calls transferOwnership(address(0)).

Expected: revert or a pending proposal that O can cancel; O keeps control.

Actual: the call succeeds, owner() == address(0), and setOracleSigner/setIntake/setPayment/sweep revert 'UNAUTHORIZED' for every caller from then on.

    • infoAfter a listing transfer, the previous owner's live #ad blocks the new owner from advertising for up to 7 days and only the old payer can cancel itsrc/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159

purchase() refuses a second live placement per listing (AlreadyFeatured) and cancel() is restricted to the original payer.

Combined with HookListingRegistry's two-step transfer, a seller can buy a 7-day ad (showing the seller's pinned revision and payer) immediately before the buyer accepts, and the buyer then can neither cancel it nor advertise the listing until it expires, while the seller can cancel at any time and take the refund. docs/LISTINGS_AND_ADS.md documents each rule individually ('A later owner cannot cancel', 'At most one live placement per listing'), so this is reported as a design consequence to surface to buyers, not a permission bypass.

If this is unwanted, the minimal change is to let the current listing owner cancel a placement whose payer is no longer the owner, refunding the payer per the existing formula.

State: Alice owns listing L (revision 1), deposits 1 IMD, purchases ad P for L.

      Alice proposes Bob; Bob accepts.

      Bob deposits 1 IMD.

Inputs: Bob calls purchase(L, 1, treasury, now) -> reverts AlreadyFeatured; Bob calls cancel(P) -> reverts NotPayer.

One day later Alice calls cancel(P) -> succeeds, Alice's available credit rises by the 6/7 refund.

  6. Audit judgeAgent #131found 1 medium, 2 low, 2 info

The findings file is written and validated: all five snippets match the tree, the two proofs are attached to the medium and the low, and no tracked file is modified.

Outcome. I kept five findings after reproducing each against commit 50a7353, merging the twelve specialist reports into one finding per defect. Nothing is deployed, so every reproduction is a local Foundry test against the mock Intake.

    Findings in .imd-findings.json

    • Medium, attestation not bound to its ask (src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:284). The callback verifies the oracle signature and consumes the signed request id but never compares it, or the question hash, with the ask being settled. A genuine "passed" verdict for job B settles job A, and B then can never record its own. Four specialists reported this. All three of their proofs fail on this commit, and I confirmed that inserting a one-line request-id equality check before signature verification makes them pass. The cleanest proof is attached.
    • Low, single-step ownership (src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21). Solmate's Owned lets the owner hand control to the zero address in one call, which permanently removes signer rotation, Intake moves, price-ceiling updates and sweep. Three specialists reported it. Their proof fails as claimed and is attached.
    • Low, signer with code loses ECDSA (src/imd/OracleAttestation.sol:162). The vendored SignatureChecker only tries ERC-1271 once the signer address has code, so an EIP-7702 delegation by the oracle key makes every verdict revert BadSignature. Reproduced with a 23-byte delegation designator etched on the signer.
    • Info, owner power understated in docs (src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:339). The integration doc says a hostile owner could forge verdicts only for later jobs. Rotating the Intake and signer to itself lets the owner settle an ask that is already pending. Reproduced.
    • Info, seller's live ad locks out the buyer (src/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159). After a listing transfer the buyer can neither cancel nor replace the seller's placement for up to seven days. Three specialists reported it. Reproduced, and classified as a documented design consequence rather than a bypass.

Checks run. The project's own suite passes (126 tests, including the escrow invariant run). My scratch tests live under test/scratch/ and are not kept. I found no additional defects in deposit accounting, refunds, settlement, withdrawals, reentrancy guards, recipient rotation, listing ownership or metadata revisions beyond what the specialists reported.

Open items for the requester. The attestation fix depends on confirming in the live pilot that the Intake's bytes32 request id equals the attestation's left-aligned UUID. Live IMD integration remains unverified.

    • mediumonReviewResult never binds the signed attestation to the ask it settles: a verdict signed for one review ask is accepted as another job's verdictsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:284

onReviewResult(requestId, a, signature) looks up the pending ask with the Intake-supplied callback argument requestId (reviewOf[requestId]), checks the panel minimums, verifies the EIP-712 signature over a in this contract's domain and consumes a.requestId as a replay key.

    • lowHookJobRequester ownership is single-step with no zero-address check (solmate Owned), unlike the store's two-step StoreAdmin; one wrong transferOwnership permanently removes signer and Intake rotationsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:21

    • lowSignature verification switches to ERC-1271 only as soon as the oracle signer address has code, so an EIP-7702 delegation by the signer EOA makes every verdict fail BadSignaturesrc/imd/OracleAttestation.sol:162

    • infoOwner powers are understated in docs: setIntake plus setOracleSigner let the owner settle or forge verdicts for asks already pending and deliveries for jobs already open, not only 'jobs opened afterwasrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:339

docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 63 says a malicious owner 'could point the intake or signer at a contract they control and forge review verdicts for jobs opened afterwards'. onlyIntake and _verifyAttestation read the current intake and oracleSigner, and neither jobs nor reviewOf record which intake or signer was configured when the ask was made.

      Actual: getJob(J).review == Passed.

    • infoAfter a listing transfer, the seller's live placement blocks the buyer from advertising for up to 7 days, keeps rendering the seller's revision and payer, and only the seller can cancel itsrc/store/FeaturedPlacements.sol:159

purchase() admits only the current listing owner but refuses a second live placement per listing regardless of who paid it (AlreadyFeatured), while cancel() admits only the original payer (NotPayer).
