Audit src/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol, a contract for Base mainnet that receives USDC and anyone can make it buy IMD (Fren Pet on Base, 0xFF0C532FDB8Cd566Ae169C1CB157ff2Bdc83E105) through two Uniswap v2 pairs and send it to 0x...dEaD. It has no owner and no withdraw.

Focus: (1) can USDC or the bought IMD leave in any way other than a burn; (2) can a caller make a burn execute at a bad price: atomic sandwich, TWAP manipulation across blocks, griefing of the 30-minute window or of poke(); (3) can the contract get stuck so that its USDC can never be burned, including Fren Pet's buy fee, max-transaction and max-wallet limits and blacklist (transfers to 0xdead are exempt from fees and limits), and a pair whose reserves change; (4) correctness of the UQ112x112 TWAP math, wrap-around of cumulative prices and of uint32 timestamps, and the counterfactual cumulative price; (5) the 3% shortfall bound and the $1,000 per-burn cap.

The tests in test/ run on a Base fork (BASE_RPC). Report each finding with severity, location and a reproduction.

  • 1.mediumFixed $1,000 burn size with a 3% bound that must also absorb fees and the trade's own price impact: a flat but thin WETH/IMD pair (< ~18 WETH) makes every burn of a balance >= $1,000 revert foreversrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84

            uint256 usdcIn = balance > MAX_PER_BURN ? MAX_PER_BURN : balance;

    buyAndBurn() always spends min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN); no caller can choose a smaller amount. expectedImd (line 95) is the fee-free, impact-free TWAP quote, while imdOut (line 104) carries two 0.3% fees plus the constant-product price impact of the full trade on both pairs. At today's Base depth a $1,000 burn already quotes 98.93% of the TWAP with no price movement (fork: preview() 9893 bps).

    Price impact grows as the pair's reserves shrink, so when the WETH side of the WETH/IMD pair falls below ~18 WETH (about 1/9 of today's depth, an ordinary event for a memecoin pool) the fee+impact shortfall alone exceeds 300 bps. In a flat market TWAP == spot, so waiting, a new window after the burn or poke() all leave the result unchanged: every buyAndBurn() reverts PriceOffTwap while the balance is >= ~$1,000, and later Lobby payouts pile on top.

    There is no owner, no withdraw and no amount parameter, so the USDC stays stuck until liquidity providers of a third-party pool return. A $100 balance burns in the same state, so the fixed size is the cause. Merged from the audit_math, audit_flow, audit_economics and audit_permissions reports (four duplicate reports of this issue).

    Fix that keeps the design: bound usdcIn by pool depth as well (e.g. usdcIn = min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN, reserveUsdck, wethReserveOfPairB-in-USDCk) with k ~ 0.25%), or compute expectedImd with the same getAmountOut formula on TWAP-implied reserves so MAX_SHORTFALL_BPS measures only price deviation.

    No-fork proof (test/scratch/ThinPoolLock.t.sol): mock pairs at the constant addresses, USDC/WETH 436,000 USDC / 180 WETH, WETH/IMD 16.5 WETH / 6,600 IMD, price unchanged for the whole window.

    The burner holds 1_000e6 USDC, 31 minutes pass.

    Expected: the burn executes.

    Actual: it reverts PriceOffTwap(165137614678899082400, 159808258783426919783), 96.77% of the TWAP.

    Base fork (block ~52644720): deal both tokens of pair 0xDE66... down to 1/10 at the same ratio (16.56 WETH / 6,600 FP), sync(), fund 1_000e6, warp 31 min: preview gives 9679 bps and buyAndBurn() reverts PriceOffTwap.

    After warp 6h+1s, poke() and warp 31 min it still reverts.

    With the balance set to 100e6 the burn succeeds.

  • 2.lowFren Pet owner can permanently freeze the contract's USDC by blacklisting 0xdEaD or the Uniswap WETH/FP pair; the hard-coded route has no fallbacksrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:107

            if (wethIsToken0) WETH_IMD.swap(0, imdOut, DEAD, "");

    Fren Pet's _transfer rejects blacklisted senders and receivers. Its owner still holds blacklist rights (blacklistRenounced() == false on Base). Neither 0xdEaD nor the Uniswap v2 pair 0xDE66... is protected from blacklist()/blacklistLiquidityPool().

    After either call, hop 2 reverts in every block, and burnHeld() also reverts if 0xdEaD is blacklisted. The pair, recipient and route are constants and there is no owner or rescue, so the USDC can never leave. This is a third-party trust assumption rather than a code bug.

    The README mentions the blacklist power but not that it permanently freezes the USDC. Circle blacklisting this contract on USDC has the same effect at line 99. Merged from the audit_math, audit_flow, audit_economics and audit_permissions reports.

    Mitigation if wanted: a pre-vetted fallback route (for example FP's canonical BaseSwap pair) or a time-locked permissionless escape to a burn-only sink. At minimum, document it.

    Base fork: burner = new IMDBuyAndBurn(); deal 100e6 USDC; warp 31 min; vm.prank(FP.owner()); FP.blacklist(0x...dEaD) -> buyAndBurn() reverts (verified).

    Same with vm.prank(FP.owner()); FP.blacklistLiquidityPool(0xDE66c35e01ED8e619Bf092352338ef94f2327337) -> buyAndBurn() reverts 'UniswapV2: TRANSFER_FAILED' (verified).

    Expected: the USDC is burned.

    Actual: every call reverts, permanently.

  • 3.lowIf the Fren Pet owner removes 0xdEaD's fee exemption, 4% of every burn goes to the Fren Pet contract instead of being burned; the line 109 comment describes a fee that is not charged todaysrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:109

            burned = IMD.balanceOf(DEAD) - deadBefore; // FP takes a buy fee, so this can be below imdOut

    The pair -> 0xdEaD transfer is fee-free only because FP's constructor set excludeFromFees(0xdead, true). The owner can revert that setting. After excludeFromFees(0xdead, false) every burn pays FP's buy fee (4%, owner-settable up to 5%) to the FP contract, so bought IMD leaves other than by burning (brief item 1).

    The price check at line 105 runs on imdOut before the fee, so it does not see the loss, and the burn succeeds with a smaller burned amount. Today burned == imdOut, so the comment 'FP takes a buy fee' and the README's 4% statement are wrong for the current state. Merged from the audit_math, audit_flow, audit_economics and audit_permissions reports.

    Fix: document it as a trust assumption, or require IMD.balanceOf(DEAD) - deadBefore == imdOut (burn or revert) and correct the comment.

    Base fork: deal 1_000e6 USDC to the burner, warp 31 min, read spot from preview(), then vm.prank(FP.owner()); FP.excludeFromFees(0x...dEaD, false); buyAndBurn().

    Expected: burned == pool output 162007135410960249015.

    Actual: burned = 155526849994521839055 (96%), and the difference stays with the FP contract (verified).

  • 4.lowpoke() can be front-run once a window is stale, pushing a valid pending burn back by 30 minutes (contradicts 'It cannot be used to hold burns back')src/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:126

            if (elapsed <= STALE_AFTER) revert NotStale(elapsed);

    When elapsed > STALE_AFTER, both poke() and buyAndBurn() are callable. poke() resets obsTime with no further condition, so a poke() placed before a keeper's burn makes the burn revert WindowTooShort(0) for the next MIN_WINDOW. This is bounded to one 30-minute delay per stale period and causes no loss, but the NatSpec at line 120 claims the opposite. Merged from the audit_math, audit_flow and audit_economics reports.

    Fix: make poke() revert when the balance is >= THRESHOLD and elapsed >= MIN_WINDOW, or have buyAndBurn() start a fresh window itself when it is stale.

    Base fork: deal 10e6 USDC, warp 6h+1s (a burn is valid now).

    Tx 1 (anyone): poke() succeeds.

    Tx 2, same block: buyAndBurn() reverts WindowTooShort(0) (verified).

    Expected: the valid burn executes.

  • 5.infoMAX_SHORTFALL_BPS comment understates the budget: fees plus impact use ~1.07% at the $1,000 cap, leaving ~1.9% for honest price drift, so burns pause during ordinary IMD ralliessrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:36

        uint256 public constant MAX_SHORTFALL_BPS = 300; // output may be at most 3% below the TWAP (covers 2 x 0.3% fees)

    The comment says the 3% covers the 2 x 0.3% fees. The budget also pays the trade's own price impact on both pairs, so at today's depth a $1,000 burn sits at 9893 bps of the TWAP with no price movement. Any rise of IMD (or ETH vs USDC) of more than ~1.9% between the window average and spot blocks burns until the average catches up, or until 6h + poke() + 30 min.

    This is liveness, not loss: the guard is one-sided and falling prices never block. It is the same root cause as the medium finding at line 84. Merged from the audit_math, audit_flow, audit_economics and audit_permissions reports.

    The specialists' step-rise timings (for example 130 minutes after a 10% step) follow from this headroom but were not re-measured here.

    Base fork (block ~52644720): new IMDBuyAndBurn(); deal 1_000e6 USDC; warp 31 min with no trades; preview() gives spot*10000/expected = 9893 (verified). Expected per the comment: ~9940 (fees only).

  • 6.infoA balance just above MAX_PER_BURN leaves a remainder below THRESHOLD that cannot be burned until more USDC arrivessrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84

            uint256 usdcIn = balance > MAX_PER_BURN ? MAX_PER_BURN : balance;

    The cap applies to the full balance, so a balance in (1_000e6, 1_005e6) burns exactly 1_000e6 and leaves under $5 behind the BelowThreshold check at line 77. A later payout tops it up, but a final payout strands the dust. Merged from the audit_math report.

    Fix: if balance - MAX_PER_BURN < THRESHOLD, spend the whole balance.

    Base fork: deal 1_004e6 USDC, warp 31 min, buyAndBurn() leaves 4e6. Warp 31 min more: buyAndBurn() reverts BelowThreshold(4000000) (verified).

  2. Audit mathAgent #715found 1 medium, 1 low, 3 info

    The review is complete and the findings file is written and validated. No source files were changed; only the findings JSON and a scratch test under test/scratch/ were created.

    Outcome. The UQ112x112 TWAP math, the cumulative-price and uint32 wrap handling, the counterfactual cumulative, the swap direction logic and the custody paths are correct. I found no way for USDC or bought IMD to leave other than by burning, and no profitable atomic or multi-block price manipulation. The defects are all in how the fixed constants interact with pool depth and time. Five findings are in .imd-findings.json, each with a concrete state and a fork reproduction that I ran and confirmed on Base.

    • Medium, line 105. The 3% bound is checked against a TWAP output with no fee and no price impact, while the burn size is fixed at min(balance, $1,000). At current depth a $1,000 burn already sits at 98.93% of TWAP. If the WETH/FP pool drops below about 18 ETH, or the USDC/WETH pool below about $45k, every burn of a $1,000 or larger balance reverts forever, and poke cannot help. Reproduced by shrinking reserves to 15 ETH at an unchanged price: the burn reverts at 96.53% of TWAP, still reverts after 6 hours plus poke, and a $100 burn at the same depth passes.
    • Low, line 92. The window grows until 6 hours, so a single step rise lags the TWAP for a long time. A 10% step in the Fren Pet price blocks burns for 130 minutes. A step above about 22% blocks them until poke at 6 hours plus another 30 minutes. Anyone can cause this by buying about 8 ETH of FP and holding it.
    • Info, line 84. A balance of $1,004 burns $1,000 and strands $4 below the threshold.
    • Info, line 126. A poke landing ahead of a stale-window burn delays it 30 minutes, at most once per 6 hours.
    • Info, line 107. Verified on chain that 0xdEaD is fee- and limit-exempt and the pair is a flagged AMM pair. The Fren Pet owner can still revoke that exemption, which would divert 4% of each buy, or blacklist 0xdEaD or this contract. Circle can freeze the USDC. These are documented trust assumptions, not code defects.

    Checked and found sound. Both pairs are genuine Uniswap v2 pairs with the 0.3% fee, so the output formula matches the pair's K check. Uniswap's pair accrues the cumulative at the old price before applying a swap, so same-block manipulation cannot poison the TWAP. Overflow in the Q112 multiplications needs reserve ratios no realistic pool can reach. The existing ten fork tests pass.

    Not covered. No static analysis tools ran. No non-fork proof was written because nothing reached high or critical severity.

    • mediumFixed $1,000 burn size against a fixed 3% bound: once pool depth falls below ~18 ETH (WETH/FP) or ~$45k (USDC/WETH) a >= $1,000 balance can never be burnedsrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:105

      expectedImd is the output at the TWAP with no fee and no price impact, while imdOut carries both 0.3% v2 fees (0.6%) and the price impact of the trade in both pools. The impact term is usdcIn/reserve and wethOut/reserve, so the share of the 3% budget it consumes depends on pool depth, not on anything the contract controls.

      With live reserves (436,379 USDC / 180.4 WETH and 162.8 WETH / 67,118 FP) a $1,000 burn already yields 98.93% of expectedImd (1.07 points of the 3 are gone before any price drift). Because usdcIn = min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN) cannot be lowered by the caller, the burn passes only if 0.997/(1+0.997usdcIn/rUSDC) * 0.997/(1+0.997wethOut/rWETH) >= 0.97.

      Holding prices flat, that fails for every call when the WETH side of the WETH/FP pair is below ~18.3 ETH (computed: 19 ETH -> 97.08%, 18.5 ETH -> 97.02%, 18 ETH -> 96.97%, 15 ETH -> 96.53%) or the USDC side of USDC/WETH is below ~45k USDC (50k -> 97.22%, 40k -> 96.75%).

      In that state poke() does not help (the shortfall is fee+impact, not TWAP drift), the window check cannot be bypassed, there is no owner, no withdraw and no amount parameter, so the whole USDC balance is stuck until liquidity providers of a third-party memecoin pool return ~5x the depth. The same number also silently shrinks the real drift tolerance: at current depth only ~1.9% of honest price rise within the window is tolerated, not 3%.

      A smaller trade passes at the same depth, which shows the lock is purely the fixed sizing.

      Fix (keeps the design): size the burn from the reserves, e.g. usdcIn = min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN, rUSDC * IMPACT_BPS / 10_000) and likewise bound wethOut against the WETH/FP reserve, or compare imdOut against the TWAP output computed with the fee and the actual impact (expected = getAmountOut at reserves scaled to the TWAP ratio) so MAX_SHORTFALL_BPS only measures drift; alternatively let the caller pass amount <= min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN) with a floor of THRESHOLD.

      State: WETH/FP pair reserves at 15 WETH and the proportional FP (same price as today), contract holds 1,000e6 USDC, 31 minutes since the last observation (TWAP == spot). Expected: the burn executes (price is unchanged). Actual: preview() returns expectedImd = 166416090052866425086 and spotImd = 160651061927275655659 (96.53%), buyAndBurn() reverts PriceOffTwap(166416090052866425086, 160651061927275655659); after 6h + poke() + 31 min it reverts again with the same shortfall; after deal-ing the balance down to 100e6 the burn passes, proving only the fixed size blocks it. • lowTWAP window only grows until STALE_AFTER: a single 10% step rise of FP (organic or a ~8 ETH buy held by anyone) blocks burns for 130 minutes, a 25%+ step until 6h + poke + 30 minsrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:92

      The average is taken over the whole time since the last observation and the check at line 105 only accepts a spot output within 3% (effectively ~1.9% after fees and impact at $1,000) of it. After a step change of d at time t0 into a window that has reached length T, the lag is dt0/T, so the burn is blocked until T >= t0d/0.019. For a 10% step at 31 minutes that is ~163 min of elapsed time (measured on the fork: 130 minutes after the step).

      For d >= ~22% the lag never drops below 1.9% inside STALE_AFTER, so burns wait for poke() at 6h and then a further MIN_WINDOW: up to ~6.5h of no burns per step, and the window must be re-grown after each one. Nothing in the contract bounds the window length below STALE_AFTER or lets a caller start a shorter one.

      Cost to cause it on purpose: a buy of ~5% of the WETH side (~8.2 ETH, ~$20k) held in the pool, i.e. 0.6% round-trip fee ($120) plus arbitrage exposure; it blocks every burn, not just one. This is a liveness delay, not a loss, and the 6h poke is the designed backstop, so severity is low; it matters because Lobby payouts are capped at $1,000 per 30 min already, and each hour of blocking is $2,000 of throughput that never comes back.

      Fix: keep the long window but let buyAndBurn use max(MIN_WINDOW, min(elapsed, WINDOW_CAP)) by storing periodic observations, or let poke() be called after a shorter STALE_AFTER (e.g. 1h) which still prevents an atomic sandwich because MIN_WINDOW is unchanged.

      State: 1,000e6 USDC in the contract, 31 minutes after deployment, a third party buys FP with 5% of the pool's WETH side (8.24 ETH, pushes the FP price ~10%) in an earlier block and holds.

      Expected: the burn is possible once the price has been stable for a reasonable time.

      Actual: 10 minutes after the step preview() shows spot/expected = 9183 bps and buyAndBurn() reverts PriceOffTwap; the burn first passes 130 minutes after the step (fork test test_StepRiseDelaysBurn in test/scratch/Repro.t.sol, logs 'minutes after the step until the burn passes: 130').

      With a 25% step the ratio stays below 9700 until poke() at 6h plus 31 minutes.

    • infoBalance just above MAX_PER_BURN leaves a remainder below THRESHOLD that cannot be burned until more USDC arrivessrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84

      The cap is applied to the balance, not to the balance minus THRESHOLD, so a balance in (1_000e6, 1_005e6) burns exactly 1_000e6 and strands the remainder behind the BelowThreshold check at line 77. Harmless for a stream of payouts (the next one tops it up) but a numerical gap between the two constants: a final payout of $1,004 leaves $4 that no one can burn.

      Fix: if (balance - usdcIn < THRESHOLD) usdcIn = balance when that is at most MAX_PER_BURN + THRESHOLD, or set THRESHOLD to 1.

      State: deal 1_004e6 USDC to the contract, wait 31 minutes, call buyAndBurn().

      Expected: all of it burns or the remainder stays burnable.

      Actual: balance after the burn is 4e6 and after another 31 minutes buyAndBurn() reverts BelowThreshold(4000000) (fork test test_DustBelowThresholdAfterCap in test/scratch/Repro.t.sol).

    • infopoke() front-run can delay a stale-window burn by up to 30 minutes once per 6 hourssrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:126

      When elapsed > STALE_AFTER both poke() and buyAndBurn() are callable in the same block. If poke() lands first, obsTime becomes block.timestamp and the burn reverts WindowTooShort(0); the next burn is possible MIN_WINDOW later. poke() cannot be repeated for another STALE_AFTER, so the bound is one 30-minute delay per 6 hours and no state is lost.

      Documented as a griefing bound rather than a defect; if the delay matters, have buyAndBurn() take precedence by letting it run whenever elapsed >= MIN_WINDOW regardless of a poke in the same block (e.g. poke() reverts if the USDC balance >= THRESHOLD and elapsed >= MIN_WINDOW, so a burnable state is burned instead of re-observed).

      State: 6h + 1s since the last observation, contract holds 10e6 USDC.

      Tx 1 (anyone): poke() succeeds, obsTime = now.

      Tx 2 (honest caller, same block): buyAndBurn() reverts WindowTooShort(0).

      Expected: a burn that was executable stays executable; actual: it is pushed 30 minutes.

    • infoFren Pet owner powers on which the burn path depends (fee exemption of 0xdEaD, blacklist) and Circle's USDC blacklist are unmitigated trust assumptionssrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:107

      Verified on Base: FrenPetToken excludes 0xdEaD from fees and from max-transaction (isExcludedFromFees(dead)=true, _isExcludedMaxTransactionAmount(dead)=true), its _transfer skips the limits whenever to == 0xdead, maxWallet is 3e42 and maxTransactionAmount 500k FP, blacklistRenounced is false and the owner is 0x54C4DD8C2E124c65f55E1E096aB1fb6543e1206c.

      The pair -> 0xdEaD transfer therefore pays no fee today, and burnHeld()'s burner -> 0xdEaD transfer also pays none (to is fee-excluded, so takeFee is false and swapBack cannot trigger).

      None of that is enforced by this contract: (a) excludeFromFees(0xdead, false) by the FP owner makes 4% of every bought IMD go to the FP contract instead of the burn (the swap still succeeds since the pair's balance drops by the full amount, and burned = balanceOf(DEAD) diff absorbs it silently); (b) blacklist(0xdead) makes every buyAndBurn revert with 'Receiver blacklisted' and blacklist(address(this)) bricks burnHeld(); (c) Circle blacklisting this contract freezes the USDC.

      These are owner actions of third parties and not defects here, listed because the brief asks whether IMD can leave other than by burning and whether the contract can get stuck. The current code has no fallback route (no owner, no alternative pair, no amount control), so the only mitigation is monitoring.

      State: FP owner calls excludeFromFees(0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD, false); then buyAndBurn() with 1_000e6 USDC.

      Expected per README: everything bought is burned.

      Actual: imdOut passes the check, 4% of imdOut (about 6.7 FP of ~168.6) is transferred to the FP contract and burned = 0.96 * imdOut.

      With blacklist(0xdEaD) instead, buyAndBurn() reverts 'Receiver blacklisted' for every caller.

  3. Audit flowAgent #12found 2 medium, 2 low, 2 info

    The review is complete. .imd-findings.json holds six substantiated findings, each reproduced on a Base fork in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol. No source files were changed. The project's own ten fork tests pass.

    Findings (most severe first)

    • Medium, line 31. Fren Pet's owner can blacklist the hard-coded Uniswap pair or 0xdEaD and permanently freeze all USDC. Blacklist rights are not renounced on chain, and Fren Pet's guard only protects its own BaseSwap pair and an Ethereum router address. One owner call makes every burn revert with TRANSFER_FAILED, and poke() cannot help. The contract has no fallback route or escape hatch.
    • Medium, line 84. The fixed $1,000 chunk combined with the 3% bound locks any balance above $1,000 once the WETH side of the WETH/FP pair drops below about 18.4 WETH. Fees and impact already consume 1.07% at today's depth. In the shrunk state a $500 chunk still passes, but the contract cannot choose it.
    • Low, line 109. If Fren Pet's owner removes the 0xdEaD fee exemption, 4% of every burn is diverted to the Fren Pet contract, where the owner can withdraw it. The price check does not see this because it runs on the pre-fee quote.
    • Low, line 126. poke() can be front-run whenever the window is stale, delaying a valid burn by 30 minutes. Bounded to once per 6 hours.
    • Info, line 36. The comment on the 3% budget says it covers fees only. Real headroom for price moves is about 1.9% at $1,000, so rallies pause burns.
    • Info, test line 104. The sandwich test uses a bare vm.expectRevert() and would pass on any revert.

    Areas checked and found sound

    • USDC and bought IMD can only leave through the burn path. No reentrancy surface: empty swap callback data, no token hooks, Fren Pet's swapBack is not reachable from a pair-to-dead transfer.
    • Atomic sandwiches revert on the TWAP check. Cross-block TWAP manipulation is uneconomic: a 2-second push would need a 28x price move to shift a 30-minute average by 3%, and Fren Pet's 4% buy and sell fees on the Uniswap pair make any sandwich cost more than the $30 maximum gain per burn.
    • UQ112x112 math, the counterfactual cumulative, direction of token0/token1 for both pairs, and the fee formula all match Uniswap v2. Burns succeed across a uint32 timestamp wrap and a cumulative-price wrap near 2^256.
    • Both pairs are confirmed Uniswap v2 (factory 0x8909...). Transfers to 0xdEaD are hard-exempt from Fren Pet's size limits, and the dead address is currently fee-exempt.

    Not done

    • No proof test files were attached. Both top findings are medium, below the threshold where a proof is required, and their reproductions need a fork.

    • mediumFren Pet's owner can blacklist the hard-coded Uniswap pair or 0xdEaD and permanently freeze every USDC the contract holdssrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:31

      The only route out for USDC is the fixed pair 0xDE66...7337 and the fixed recipient 0x...dEaD, and the contract has no owner, no rescue and no alternative route. Fren Pet's _transfer reverts when either from or to is blacklisted. Its owner (0x54C4DD8C2E124c65f55E1E096aB1fb6543e1206c) still holds blacklist rights: on Base at block 52644440 blacklistRenounced() is false.

      FP's blacklist() / blacklistLiquidityPool() guards only protect FP's own canonical pair (the BaseSwap pair 0x29b3a7869E3662D00aaBD89A8ee74B2F703a6a66, created in FP's constructor through router 0x327Df1E6de05895d2ab08513aaDD9313Fe505d86) and the Ethereum-mainnet router address 0x7a25...488D. The Uniswap v2 pair this contract uses is exactly the kind of non-canonical pool blacklistLiquidityPool() exists to target, and 0xdEaD can be blacklisted too.

      Once either is blacklisted, hop 2 reverts inside the pair (the FP revert is wrapped as 'UniswapV2: TRANSFER_FAILED'), poke() does not help, and nothing can move the USDC: the brief's condition (3) 'USDC can never be burned' is reached by a single third-party owner call. The brief treats the FP blacklist as a known power, but the contract keeps no mitigation for it.

      Minimal fix that preserves the no-owner design: keep the burn path but add a permissionless fallback that is only reachable when the primary route is provably dead, e.g. a second pre-vetted route (FP's canonical BaseSwap WETH/FP pair, same fee model and same TWAP interface) tried when the Uniswap hop reverts, and/or a permissionless escape hatch that, after the primary route has reverted for a long period (say 30 days with balance >= THRESHOLD), lets anyone send the USDC to a pre-committed burn-only sink or a documented treasury.

      Also document the FP-owner powers (blacklist, fee exemption, 5% fee ceiling) as trust assumptions in the README.

      Base fork at block ~52644440 (BASE_RPC).

      3. burner.buyAndBurn().

      Expected: 100 USDC burned into FP at 0xdEaD.

      Actual: revert 'UniswapV2: TRANSFER_FAILED' (FP's 'Sender blacklisted' / 'Receiver blacklisted' inside the pair's _safeTransfer).

      1. warp 7 hours, burner.poke(), warp 31 minutes, buyAndBurn() again: same revert.

    • mediumFixed $1,000 chunk plus the 3% TWAP bound locks any balance above $1,000 once the WETH/FP pair's WETH side falls below about 18.4 WETHsrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84

      usdcIn is min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN) with no way to burn a smaller chunk, and the price check at line 105 compares the fee-and-impact-laden quote with 97% of the fee-free TWAP quote. The 3% budget therefore has to pay for the two 0.3% pool fees plus the price impact of a $1,000 trade on both pairs; the comment on MAX_SHORTFALL_BPS only mentions the fees.

      At today's depth (180 WETH / 436k USDC in 0x88A4..., 164 WETH / 66.5k FP in 0xDE66...) a $1,000 burn quotes 98.93% of the TWAP figure, so only 1.93% is left for genuine price moves. If the WETH/FP pair shrinks (LPs leave, liquidity migrates to FP's canonical BaseSwap pair or a v3 pool) the impact alone exceeds the budget: with the same price and the WETH side at 18.40 WETH the quote is 97.01% of TWAP, at 16.56 WETH it is 96.78%, at 15.06 WETH 96.55%.

      From then on every buyAndBurn with balance > 1,000e6 reverts PriceOffTwap regardless of timing, poke() cannot help (the bound is spot-vs-average at an unchanged price), and the USDC is frozen until liquidity returns or the price trends down by more than the gap. A $500 chunk would still pass in the same state.

      Minimal fix: cap usdcIn by pool depth as well as by MAX_PER_BURN (e.g. usdcIn = min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN, k * reserveUsdc, k * reserveWethOfPairB * twapUsdcPerWeth) with k ~ 0.5%), or on PriceOffTwap let the caller retry with a smaller usdcIn parameter bounded above by MAX_PER_BURN, or compute expectedImd through the same getAmountOut formula on TWAP-implied reserves so the budget covers only real price deviation.

      Expected: $1,001 burned in two calls.

      Reproduced in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol test_ShrunkPoolLocksLargeBalance; test_ShrunkPool_whatDepthLocks prints the quote/TWAP ratio for divisors 6..12 (9772, 9748, 9725, 9701, 9678, 9655, 9631 bps).

    • lowIf Fren Pet's owner drops 0xdEaD's fee exemption, 4% of every burn is diverted to the Fren Pet contract instead of being burnedsrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:109

      The Uniswap pair 0xDE66... is registered in Fren Pet's automatedMarketMakerPairs (true on Base at block 52644440), so the pair->0xdEaD transfer is a 'buy' for FP and is fee-free today only because excludeFromFees(0xdead, true) was set in FP's constructor.

      That exemption is an ordinary owner-settable mapping: one call excludeFromFees(0xdead, false) by FP's owner makes every later burn pay buyTotalFees (4%, owner-settable up to 5%) into the FP contract, from where the owner can withdraw it with withdrawStuckUnibot().

      The bought IMD then partly leaves the system other than by burning (brief item 1), the price check at line 105 does not see it (it is checked on imdOut before the fee), and the contract's accounting silently absorbs it. The hard-coded to != 0xdead carve-out protects only the max-transaction / max-wallet limits, not the fee.

      Suggested handling: document it as a trust assumption on FP's owner and, if the 4% leak is not acceptable, revert when IMD.balanceOf(DEAD) - deadBefore < imdOut (burn-or-nothing), which also makes the comment on this line accurate.

      Expected: the full pair output (spotImd = 162.66e18 FP) reaches 0xdEaD.

      Actual: burned = 156.15e18 reaches 0xdEaD and 6.51e18 FP (4%) lands in the Fren Pet contract's own balance; no revert, Burned event reports the lower amount.

    • lowpoke() can be front-run to push a pending burn back by 30 minutes whenever the window is stalesrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:126

      poke() is permissionless and resets obsTime whenever the last observation is older than 6 hours, while buyAndBurn() requires elapsed >= 30 minutes from that same obsTime.

      The natural-language guarantee 'It cannot be used to hold burns back' at line 120 is only partly true: once the window is stale (which is the normal state for a contract that receives payouts irregularly), anyone can call poke() in the block before a burn transaction, which then reverts WindowTooShort(0) and no burn is possible for the next 30 minutes.

      The griefer cannot repeat it inside the next 6 hours, so the damage is bounded (30 minutes of delay per stale period, at the cost of one cheap transaction), but a bot watching the mempool/sequencer can impose it on every burn that follows an idle period and, during a rising market, repeatedly push the burn into a fresh window where the 3% bound is judged against a shorter, newer average.

      Minimal fix: let buyAndBurn() take precedence, e.g. have poke() refuse when the current window would already allow a burn that passes the price check (call the check view first), or make buyAndBurn() itself start a fresh observation when the stale window fails the price check instead of exposing poke() separately.

      3. In the same block the honest caller's burner.buyAndBurn() reverts WindowTooShort(0); it keeps reverting until 30 minutes later.

      Expected: the burn that was valid before the poke executes.

      Reproduced in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol test_PokeFrontRun.

    • infoMAX_SHORTFALL_BPS comment understates what the 3% budget must cover; real headroom for price moves is about 1.9% at $1,000src/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:36

      expectedImd is a fee-free, impact-free TWAP quote, while imdOut is a fee-and-impact quote, so the 3% budget is consumed by 0.6% of fees plus the two pools' price impact (about 0.23% on USDC/WETH and 0.25% on WETH/FP for $1,000 at current depth), leaving ~1.93% for the spot price to sit above the window average.

      Any genuine FP or ETH rise above that over a 30-minute-plus window blocks burns until the price eases or 6 hours pass and poke() starts a fresh window, which for a memecoin is a frequent state. This is the documented design, but the comment should state the budget split and the README should say that burns pause in rallies.

      A tighter alternative is to compute expectedImd with the same 997/1000 getAmountOut formula applied to TWAP-implied reserves so that the bound measures only price deviation.

      Base fork at block ~52644440: burner = new IMDBuyAndBurn(); deal 1_000e6 USDC; warp 31 minutes; preview() returns spotImd/expectedImd = 9893 bps (test/scratch/Probe.t.sol test_Headroom); with 10e6 it is 9939 bps.

      Expected per the comment: ~9940 bps for any size (fees only).

      Actual: the headroom shrinks with size, and at the $1,000 cap a 1.94% rise of FP against the window average makes buyAndBurn() revert PriceOffTwap.

    • infotest_AtomicPumpReverts accepts any revert, so it would not catch a broken TWAP checktest/IMDBuyAndBurn.t.sol:104

      The bare vm.expectRevert() passes on any revert reason. If the price check were disabled or wrong, the test would still pass as long as something else reverted (for example a WindowTooShort because _wait was changed, or a Uniswap K error). It should assert the PriceOffTwap selector, e.g. vm.expectRevert(IMDBuyAndBurn.PriceOffTwap.selector) or compute the exact expected/actual values with preview() and encode the full error.

      Similarly no test exercises the uint32 / cumulative wrap-around that the contract relies on; test/scratch/Probe.t.sol test_TimestampWrap and test_CumulativeWrap show how to do it on the fork (warp to 2^32-500 before deploying; vm.store the pairs' slots 9 and 10 to 2^256-2).

      Replace line 105's revert with require(false) or remove the PriceOffTwap check and make _wait warp 10 minutes: test_AtomicPumpReverts still passes because vm.expectRevert() matches any revert. Expected: the test fails whenever the burn does not revert specifically with PriceOffTwap.

  4. Audit economicsAgent #1295found 1 medium, 2 low, 2 info

    The review is complete. The findings file holds five entries and no tracked file was changed.

    Outcome. No critical or high defect. Value cannot leave except as a burn, the atomic sandwich guard works, and the TWAP math is correct. One medium liveness defect and two external trust assumptions are in .imd-findings.json, each with a fork reproduction in test/scratch/Leads.t.sol.

    Findings written

    • Medium, line 84. The burn size is a fixed min(balance, $1,000) with no fallback. The 3% bound must absorb 0.6% of pair fees plus price impact, which today totals 107 bps. If the WETH/FP pair's WETH side falls to about 18 WETH (11% of today's depth), a $1,000 burn is 301 bps short and reverts in every block, forever, while a $300 burn in the same state passes. With no owner, no setter and no caller-chosen amount, all USDC at or above the critical size is frozen until liquidity returns. Suggested fix: derive the per-burn size from pool reserves.
    • Low, line 107. The Fren Pet owner has not renounced blacklisting and can blacklist 0xdead or the Uniswap pair (only Fren Pet's own BaseSwap pair is protected). Either call makes every burn revert with "UniswapV2: TRANSFER_FAILED", permanently. Circle blacklisting the contract on USDC has the same effect.
    • Low, line 126. After a stale 6-hour window, a griefer can front-run a keeper's burn with poke(), forcing WindowTooShort(0) and a further 30-minute delay. Bounded, no loss.
    • Info, line 105. A steady 4% rise of IMD within the window produces a 315 bps shortfall and blocks burns until the trend stops or 6 hours pass. Design behaviour, reported for cadence expectations.
    • Info, line 109. The comment and README claim a 4% buy fee on the burn. 0xdead is fee-exempt and limit-exempt in Fren Pet, so burned equals the pool output exactly. The delta accounting is still correct.

    Checked and clean

    • Both pairs are canonical Uniswap v2 pairs on Base with the 0.3% fee, so the getAmountOut formula matches the K check.
    • The counterfactual cumulative replicates Uniswap's oracle library. A non-fork test crossing both the uint32 timestamp boundary and the 2^256 cumulative boundary reproduces the reference price exactly.
    • Atomic sandwich: the existing pump test reverts. Within the 3% allowance, extraction profit is roughly d × (V − 0.003 × R). With V at $1,000 and R near $394k it is negative, so no profitable manipulation exists at today's depth. Multi-block TWAP manipulation requires holding a pumped price against arbitrage for 30 minutes to capture at most one $1,000 burn.
    • No reentrancy surface: empty swap data, no callbacks, no receive function. Fren Pet's swapBack cannot trigger on pair-to-0xdead transfers.

    Not covered. No Slither run, and no long fuzzing. All reproductions ran against a live Base fork at block 52644340 plus one mock-based unit test.

    • mediumFixed $1,000 burn size has no fallback: once pool depth shrinks so that fees plus price impact exceed the 3% bound, every burn reverts and the USDC is frozen with no recovery pathsrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84

      buyAndBurn() always spends min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN) and then requires imdOut >= 97% of the TWAP-implied output (line 105). The TWAP output is a mid-price with no fee, while the real output carries 2 x 0.3% pair fees plus the price impact of the trade in both pools. Today (Base block 52644340: USDC/WETH 436,379 USDC / 180.4 WETH, WETH/FP 162.8 WETH / 67,118 FP) the shortfall for a $1,000 burn is 107 bps, so 193 bps are left for price drift.

      Price impact scales inversely with reserves: when the WETH side of the WETH/FP pair falls to about 18 WETH (11% of today's depth, about $45k) the shortfall of a $1,000 burn is 301 bps and the check reverts in every block, regardless of how long the window is, because TWAP == spot in a flat market.

      The contract has no owner, no parameter setter, no caller-chosen amount, no retry at a smaller size and no alternative route, so any balance >= $1,000 (and any balance between the critical size and $1,000) can never be burned until liquidity returns, while Lobby payouts keep accumulating. A $300 burn in the same pool state passes with a 133 bps shortfall, which shows the blocker is the fixed size, not the pool.

      This answers audit question (3): the contract gets stuck when 'a pair whose reserves change' loses roughly 9x of its depth, which is an ordinary event for a memecoin pool.

      Fix: derive the per-burn size from pool depth instead of a constant, e.g. usdcIn = min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN, reserveUSDC * 25 / 10_000, wethReserveOfIMDPair-in-USDC * 25 / 10_000) so the combined impact stays well under the 3% budget; or accept a caller-supplied amount bounded by [min(balance, THRESHOLD), min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN)] (note this lets a caller slow throughput to THRESHOLD per window, so the reserve-derived cap is preferable).

      Base fork (block 52644340).

      State: WETH/FP pair 0xDE66c35e01ED8e619Bf092352338ef94f2327337 reserves reduced proportionally to 18.126 WETH / 7,296.7 FP (prank the pair, transfer 89% of each token to 0xdead, call sync(); price unchanged).

      Input: burner holds 1_000e6 USDC, 31 minutes elapsed, call buyAndBurn().

      Expected: the USDC is burned (the pool still has ~$45k a side and a $300 burn in the same state succeeds).

      Actual: revert PriceOffTwap(expected, imdOut) with imdOut 301 bps below expected; after 7 hours + poke() + 31 minutes it reverts again; a second IMDBuyAndBurn holding 300e6 USDC burns successfully in the same block (shortfall 133 bps).

      Test: test/scratch/Leads.t.sol::test_StuckWhenLiquidityShrinks.

    • lowFren Pet owner can permanently brick all burns by blacklisting 0xdead or the Uniswap WETH/FP pair; the hardcoded route has no fallbacksrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:107

      Fren Pet's _transfer requires !blacklisted[from] and !blacklisted[to].

      Its owner (0x54C4DD8C2E124c65f55E1E096aB1fb6543e1206c, blacklistRenounced() == false on Base block 52644340) may call blacklist(0xdead) or blacklistLiquidityPool(0xDE66c35e01ED8e619Bf092352338ef94f2327337): the only addresses protected from blacklisting are Fren Pet's own BaseSwap pair 0x29b3a7869E3662D00aaBD89A8ee74B2F703a6a66 and the Ethereum Uniswap router, not the Uniswap v2 pair this contract uses nor 0xdead.

      Either call makes the second hop's FP transfer revert, so buyAndBurn() reverts in every block and the contract's USDC can never leave (there is no owner, no withdraw, and the pairs and DEAD are constants). The README documents 'Its owner can still blacklist addresses' but not that this freezes the USDC permanently; the task's question (3) asks specifically about the blacklist.

      Related: Circle can blacklist this contract on USDC, which makes USDC.transfer at line 99 revert with the same effect. These are external trust assumptions rather than code bugs; recording them with the exact state so the deployer can decide whether a mitigation (e.g. a second burn sink such as burning via FP's own ERC20Burnable burn() from a holding step, or a secondary route) is wanted.

    • lowpoke() can front-run a pending burn after a stale window and force a further 30-minute delaysrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:126

      Once no observation has happened for more than 6 hours (for example because the balance was below THRESHOLD, or because a price trend kept buyAndBurn reverting with PriceOffTwap), both poke() and buyAndBurn() become callable. poke() resets obsTime unconditionally, so a griefer who front-runs a keeper's buyAndBurn with poke() in the same block makes the burn revert with WindowTooShort(0) and nothing can burn for another 30 minutes.

      The griefer pays only gas and can repeat this each time a window goes stale, but cannot do it more than once per 6 hours of staleness, so the effect is bounded (at most 30 extra minutes per stale episode) and causes no loss.

      Fix: make poke() a no-op when a burn is currently possible, or have buyAndBurn() itself fall back to a fresh observation (reset window and return) when elapsed > STALE_AFTER so a separate poke() is unnecessary.

      Base fork.

      State: burner holds 10e6 USDC, 6 hours + 1 second since the constructor observation.

      Tx 1 (griefer): poke() succeeds.

      Tx 2 (keeper, same block): buyAndBurn().

      Expected: the burn executes because the balance and window conditions were satisfied before the griefer acted.

      Actual: revert WindowTooShort(0); the burn is only possible 30 minutes later.

      Test: test/scratch/Leads.t.sol::test_PokeFrontRunDelaysBurn.

    • infoEffective drift budget of the 3% bound is about 1.9%: a steady 4% rise of IMD inside the 30-minute window blocks the burn until the trend stops or 6 hours passsrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:105

      The expected output is a fee-free mid-price TWAP, while imdOut carries 0.6% of pair fees and the price impact of $1,000 in both pools (together 107 bps at today's reserves). So the bound actually tolerates about 193 bps of adverse drift between the window's average price and the spot price at execution.

      In a window where IMD rises steadily, the spot ends roughly half the total rise above the TWAP, so a 4% rise over 30 minutes (common for a memecoin) produces a 315 bps shortfall and the burn reverts. Because the window keeps extending (and the TWAP therefore lags more), burns stay blocked while the uptrend lasts, until the price plateaus long enough for the average to catch up or until 6 hours pass and poke() restarts the window. Falling prices never block.

      This is the intended behaviour of a one-sided TWAP guard and costs nothing but delay; it is reported so the operator knows the burn cadence is lower than $1,000 per 30 minutes in trending markets. The comment on MAX_SHORTFALL_BPS ('covers 2 x 0.3% fees') understates what the budget must cover (fees plus about 0.5% of impact at today's depth). If a higher cadence is wanted, compare against a fee-and-impact-adjusted expectation instead of the raw TWAP.

      Base fork.

      State: burner holds 1_000e6 USDC; over 30 minutes a trader buys FP from the WETH/FP pair ten times with 0.2% of the WETH reserve each (3 minutes apart), raising the FP price ~4% in total.

      Input: buyAndBurn() at elapsed = 1860 s.

      Expected (by the README's reading of the 3% bound as a sandwich guard): the burn executes since no same-block manipulation occurred.

      Actual: revert PriceOffTwap(expected, imdOut) with imdOut 315 bps below expected.

      Test: test/scratch/Leads.t.sol::test_TrendBlocksBurn.

    • infoComment and test claim a Fren Pet buy fee on the burn; 0xdead is fee-exempt so burned == imdOutsrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:109

      Fren Pet's constructor calls excludeFromFees(address(0xdead), true) and _transfer sets takeFee = false when either side is fee-excluded, so the pair-to-0xdead transfer carries no buy fee (buyTotalFees is 4% for other recipients). The size limits are likewise skipped for to == 0xdead.

      The measured-delta accounting at this line is correct and robust (it would stay right if the FP owner ever un-excluded 0xdead), but the comment, the README ('Fren Pet charges a 4% buy fee') and test_BurnsTheUsdc's 95% tolerance describe a fee that is not charged. No change in behaviour needed; update the comment so future readers do not budget 4% of lost output.

      Verified on Base block 52644340: isExcludedFromFees(0xdead) == true, and the fork test logs burned == pool output exactly.

      Base fork.

      Input: burner holds 10e6 USDC, 31 minutes elapsed, buyAndBurn().

      Expected per the comment: burned < imdOut by up to 4%.

      Actual: burned == imdOut == 1.654112163787383472 FP (the existing test logs both values as equal).

  5. Audit permissionsAgent #281found 1 medium, 1 low, 1 info

    The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds three substantiated findings. Nothing in src/, config, or lib/ was changed; only the findings file and scratch tests under test/scratch/ were written.

    Findings written to .imd-findings.json

    • Medium, line 84. The burn size is fixed at min(balance, $1,000) against a hardcoded pair, and the 3% check also pays for the burn's own price impact. On the fork, a $1,000 burn is 108 bps short at today's depth (162.8 WETH in the WETH/Fren Pet pair). Scaling the pair's reserves down at the same price gives 298 bps at 18.4 WETH and 321 bps at 16.6 WETH. Below roughly 18 WETH, every burn of a balance of $1,000 or more reverts with PriceOffTwap forever. Poke does not help since the TWAP then equals spot, and no caller can choose a smaller slice. A $50 balance still burns in the same pool state. Reproduced in test/scratch/Stuck.t.sol.
    • Low, lines 107–109. Verified against the Fren Pet source: its blacklist function only protects the BaseSwap pair, so the owner can blacklist 0xdead or the Uniswap pair used here, freezing USDC and held Fren Pet permanently. The owner can also remove 0xdead's fee exemption, after which 4% of every burn goes to Fren Pet's fee pool instead of being burned. Reproduced with pranked owner calls. The line 109 comment is wrong today: 0xdead is fee-exempt and burned equals the pool output.
    • Info, line 36. The 3% budget covers fees plus impact (~108 bps today), leaving ~1.9% for TWAP drift. A 3% price step two minutes before an attempt blocks it (378 bps shortfall), and the burn reopens on its own about two hours later. A sustained trend keeps burns blocked until the 6-hour poke. An atomic sandwich is unprofitable at current depth (max take ~$19 vs ~$23 in Uniswap fees plus the 4% Fren Pet tax) but becomes marginal if the pair drops under ~$83k per side.

    Areas checked with no defect found

    • USDC can only move to the USDC/WETH pair and Fren Pet only to 0xdead. No receive or fallback, no callbacks, no reentrancy surface.
    • Atomic sandwich reverts as designed. Multi-block TWAP pumps cost more in fees than the burn's impact can return at the $1,000 cap. Poke cannot hold burns back.
    • The UQ112x112 cumulative, uint32 timestamp wrap, counterfactual update, and stored observation all match Uniswap's own _update exactly. Cumulative wrap-around would take far longer than the chain's life at these prices.
    • Fren Pet's max-transaction, max-wallet and swapBack paths are skipped for transfers to 0xdead and for buys from an AMM pair, so they cannot block burns.

    Limitations. All reproductions run on a Base fork at block 52644609 through the public RPC, so none qualifies as a no-fork proof file. No static analysis tools were run.

    • mediumFixed $1,000 burn size with a hardcoded pair: once WETH/Fren Pet liquidity falls below ~18 WETH every burn of a balance >= $1,000 reverts forever and the USDC is frozensrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84

      buyAndBurn() always spends min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN) and routes through the constant pair 0xDE66c35e... There is no way for any caller to burn a smaller slice, no alternative route, and no owner. The 3% shortfall check at line 105 compares the spot output (which includes the burn's own price impact and the two 0.3% fees) with the TWAP, so the check fails on price impact alone when the pair is thin, regardless of price trend.

      On the Base fork (block 52644609, pair B = 162.8 WETH / 67,118 FP) a $1,000 burn is 108 bps short of the TWAP; scaling pair B's reserves down at the same price gives 131 bps at 82.8 WETH, 203 bps at 33.1 WETH, 298 bps at 18.4 WETH and 321 bps at 16.6 WETH.

      Below ~18.4 WETH (about $45k of WETH, 11% of today's depth) the $1,000 burn can never pass: poke() does not help because after a fresh window the TWAP equals the spot price and the impact alone exceeds 300 bps, and waiting does not help because the window only grows. Any balance >= $1,000 (and every later Lobby payout on top of it) is then stuck until LPs return, while a $50 balance would still burn.

      LP withdrawal is normal usage, not a privileged action, and memecoin pairs routinely lose 90% of depth; the contract is meant to hold funds indefinitely with no escape hatch.

      Fix (keeps the no-owner design): bound usdcIn by the pair depth instead of a fixed constant, e.g. usdcIn = min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN, amount whose computed impact on both hops stays under ~1%), or let the caller pass an amount in [THRESHOLD, min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN)] so a smaller burn can always be chosen; alternatively exclude the burn's own computed impact from the shortfall comparison and bound impact separately.

      Fork Base (BASE_RPC). deal(WETH, pairB, reserve0/10); deal(FP, pairB, reserve1/10); pairB.sync() (same price, 10x less depth, 16.3 WETH). deal(USDC, burner, 1_000e6); warp +31 min. preview() returns expected=164,388,380,800,952,105,806 and spot=159,101,625,461,175,109,996 (321 bps short).

      Expected: a burn executes (price has not moved at all).

      Actual: buyAndBurn() reverts PriceOffTwap; after warp +6h+1s, poke(), warp +31 min it still reverts; after +3 days it still reverts.

      With the same pool state and only 50e6 USDC, buyAndBurn() succeeds.

      See test/scratch/Stuck.t.sol: test_ThinPairFreezesEveryBurnForever, test_ThinPairStillBurnsSmallBalance, test_ThresholdLiquidity.

    • lowFren Pet owner can freeze all burns (blacklist 0xdead or the Uniswap pair) or divert 4% of every burn to its fee pool (remove 0xdead's fee exemption): undocumented trust assumptions with no recovery psrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:107

      The README says the owner can blacklist addresses but the contract has no fallback. Verified against the Fren Pet source (Sourcify, 0xFF0C...): _transfer requires !blacklisted[from] and !blacklisted[to]; blacklist() only refuses the BaseSwap pair 0x29b3a7...6a66 and the Ethereum-mainnet router address 0x7a25...488D, so the owner may blacklist both 0x...dEaD and the Uniswap v2 pair 0xDE66... used here (blacklistRenounced() is false on chain).

      Either call makes every buyAndBurn() revert (the pair's _safeTransfer wraps it as 'UniswapV2: TRANSFER_FAILED') and burnHeld() revert with 'Receiver blacklisted', so USDC and any held FP are frozen permanently.

      Separately, 0xdead is only fee-free because excludeFromFees(0xdead, true) was set in the constructor; the owner can call excludeFromFees(0xdead, false), after which the pair-to-dead transfer pays buyTotalFees (4%, up to 5%) to the FP contract: IMD then leaves the burn path to the FP fee wallets, contradicting 'IMD can only leave as a burn'.

      The comment on line 109 ('FP takes a buy fee') is wrong today (burned == imdOut, as the project's own test shows) and only becomes true in this case.

      Recommended: document these as trust assumptions on the Fren Pet owner; the contract handles the fee case gracefully already. No in-contract fix preserves the no-owner design except a route fallback, which is a design decision.

      Fork Base. vm.prank(FP.owner()); FP.blacklist(0x...dEaD); deal(USDC, burner, 100e6); warp +31 min; buyAndBurn() reverts 'UniswapV2: TRANSFER_FAILED'; deal(FP, burner, 1e18); burnHeld() reverts 'Receiver blacklisted'.

      Same with FP.blacklist(0xDE66c35e01ED8e619Bf092352338ef94f2327337) (allowed because only the BaseSwap pair is protected).

      Divert case: vm.prank(owner); FP.excludeFromFees(0xdead, false); buyAndBurn() with 100e6 USDC: pool output 16.3326 FP, burned 15.6793 FP, 0.6533 FP credited to the FP contract.

      Consequences: (a) an ordinary upward move of about 1.9% or more late in the window is enough to make burns revert (a 3% step two minutes before the attempt gives a 378 bps shortfall); a one-off step dilutes out of the growing window within about two hours, but a sustained trend of more than ~2% per window keeps burns blocked until poke() after 6 hours, so in a trending market the practical cadence is one burn per ~6.5 h rather than per 30 min; (b) the margin an MEV searcher may take by pumping before a burn is the remaining 190 bps of $1,000 ($19), which is less than the 0.6% Uniswap fees on the $3.8k front-run needed to move the pool 1.9% ($23) plus the 4% FP buy tax, so an atomic sandwich is unprofitable today but becomes marginally profitable if the WETH/FP side drops below roughly $83k; (c) a caller can still choose the moment when spot is at the worst tolerated price, losing up to 3% of each $1,000 relative to the TWAP, which is the documented bound.

      Not a defect in isolation; recorded so the bound is understood and because it drives the medium finding. If tighter control is wanted, compute the shortfall against the TWAP output net of the modelled fees/impact, or lower MAX_PER_BURN relative to reserves.

      Fork Base at block 52644609: deal 1_000e6 USDC to the burner, warp +31 min, preview(): expected/spot shortfall = 108 bps with no trades in the window.

      Scaling pair B reserves (same price) to 82.8 WETH gives 131 bps, to 33.1 WETH 203 bps, to 18.4 WETH 298 bps (test_ThresholdLiquidity in test/scratch/Stuck.t.sol).

      Drift: deal 1_000e6 USDC, warp +29 min, a third party buys FP with 1.5% of pair B's WETH side (2.44 WETH, ~3% price rise) in its own block, warp +2 min: preview() shortfall is 378 bps and buyAndBurn() reverts PriceOffTwap although nothing happened in the burn's block; after +2 h the same burn succeeds without poke() because the step has been diluted (test/scratch/Drift.t.sol: test_NaturalDriftBlocksUntilPoke).

  6. Audit judgeAgent #1254found 1 medium, 3 low, 2 info

    I merged the four specialists' 19 reports into 6 findings and reproduced all 6 against the code. They're in .imd-findings.json; no repository files were changed. Most fork checks used https://base-rpc.publicnode.com at about block 52644720, because BASE_RPC wasn't set.

    Kept findings, most severe first

    1. Medium: a flat but thin WETH/IMD pair blocks every burn (src/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84). All four specialists reported this. Each call must spend min(balance, $1,000), and the 3% check has to cover the trade's own fees and price impact as well as any price move.
      • At today's depth that already uses about 1.07% with no price change.
      • If the pair's WETH side falls below about 18 WETH, the fees and impact alone pass 3%. Every burn of a balance of $1,000 or more then reverts with PriceOffTwap, and waiting or poke() doesn't help.
      • A $100 balance still burns in the same state, so the fixed size is the cause.
      • The proof is my own no-fork mock test, test/scratch/ThinPoolLock.t.sol. It fails now with PriceOffTwap(165137614678899082400, 159808258783426919783), which is 96.77% of the TWAP at an unchanged price. On the fork, cutting the pair to a tenth of its depth gave 96.79%, and the burn still reverted after 6h, poke() and another 31 minutes.
      • Fix: also limit each burn by pool depth, or measure the 3% against a TWAP quote that includes fees and impact.
    2. Low: the Fren Pet owner can freeze the USDC for good (line 107). The owner can still blacklist (blacklistRenounced() is false), and neither 0x…dEaD nor the Uniswap pair 0xDE66… is protected. Blacklisting either makes every buyAndBurn() revert. This is a third-party trust assumption, and the contract has no fallback route.
    3. Low: 4% of each burn can be diverted (line 109). If the Fren Pet owner removes 0xdEaD's fee exemption, the burn still succeeds but only 155.53e18 of 162.01e18 IMD reaches 0xdEaD; the rest goes to the Fren Pet contract. Today no fee is charged, so the line 109 comment and the README's "4% buy fee" are wrong for the current state.
    4. Low: poke() can be front-run (line 126). Once the window is older than 6 hours, anyone can call poke() first, and a valid burn in the same block then reverts with WindowTooShort(0) for 30 minutes. That contradicts the comment at line 120.
    5. Info: the 3% comment understates what it covers (line 36). A $1,000 burn reaches only 9893 bps of the TWAP with no trades, so only about 1.9% is left for real price moves. Burns therefore pause during ordinary IMD rallies.
    6. Info: under $5 can be left stranded (line 84). A balance of $1,004 burns $1,000, and the remaining $4 then reverts with BelowThreshold(4000000) until more USDC arrives.

    Dropped or not re-checked

    • I dropped the note that test_AtomicPumpReverts accepts any revert, because I didn't reproduce it.
    • I didn't re-measure the specialists' step-rise timings (for example, 130 minutes after a 10% jump). Finding 5 says so.
    • The specialists didn't attach runnable proofs, so there were none to run; finding 1 carries my own.

    Checked with no defect found

    • USDC and bought IMD can leave only by burning, apart from the Fren Pet owner powers in findings 2 and 3.
    • The UQ112x112 TWAP math, the wrap-around of cumulative prices and uint32 timestamps, and the current-block cumulative price all match Uniswap's own oracle code.
    • A same-block sandwich can't move the TWAP.

    • mediumFixed $1,000 burn size with a 3% bound that must also absorb fees and the trade's own price impact: a flat but thin WETH/IMD pair (< ~18 WETH) makes every burn of a balance >= $1,000 revert foreversrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84

      buyAndBurn() always spends min(balance, MAX_PER_BURN); no caller can choose a smaller amount. expectedImd (line 95) is the fee-free, impact-free TWAP quote, while imdOut (line 104) carries two 0.3% fees plus the constant-product price impact of the full trade on both pairs.

    • lowFren Pet owner can permanently freeze the contract's USDC by blacklisting 0xdEaD or the Uniswap WETH/FP pair; the hard-coded route has no fallbacksrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:107

      Same with vm.prank(FP.owner()); FP.blacklistLiquidityPool(0xDE66c35e01ED8e619Bf092352338ef94f2327337) -> buyAndBurn() reverts 'UniswapV2: TRANSFER_FAILED' (verified).

      Expected: the USDC is burned.

      Actual: every call reverts, permanently.

    • lowIf the Fren Pet owner removes 0xdEaD's fee exemption, 4% of every burn goes to the Fren Pet contract instead of being burned; the line 109 comment describes a fee that is not charged todaysrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:109

    • lowpoke() can be front-run once a window is stale, pushing a valid pending burn back by 30 minutes (contradicts 'It cannot be used to hold burns back')src/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:126

      Tx 1 (anyone): poke() succeeds.

      Tx 2, same block: buyAndBurn() reverts WindowTooShort(0) (verified).

      Expected: the valid burn executes.

    • infoMAX_SHORTFALL_BPS comment understates the budget: fees plus impact use ~1.07% at the $1,000 cap, leaving ~1.9% for honest price drift, so burns pause during ordinary IMD ralliessrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:36

    • infoA balance just above MAX_PER_BURN leaves a remainder below THRESHOLD that cannot be burned until more USDC arrivessrc/IMDBuyAndBurn.sol:84
