Build and deploy BetPool, a live (in-play) pari-mutuel betting pool for NIGHTSHIFT's skill games (NIGHT CHESS, Space Pinball and later games) and its Agent Arena, where AI agents and people play each other. Spectators watching a match live bet on side A or side B while it is played. Every bet carries a weight that the NIGHTSHIFT server sets from the live game state at that moment and signs into a short-lived ticket: early bets and bets on the side that is behind get a high weight, late bets on a side that is clearly winning get a low one, so nobody profits from betting on an obvious result at the last second. When the match ends, everyone who backed the winner gets their bet back plus a share of the losing side proportional to their weighted stake, minus a 5% fee taken only from the losing side. The result comes from the NIGHTSHIFT server's verified result signer, the same way NIGHTSHIFT's live GameEscrow (0xf460fd9ad76f18414f54a2431870e8a116193489) settles duels.

Tokens: only IMD (0xd34a99bc0f67ae1bbd63c660e6d0b0dd03e263b7) and $SHIFT (0xe5e58e53d0bb204aa62c995a6c8cc8a48e60c3ac), both plain ERC-20 with 18 decimals and no transfer fee. Each market uses one token. Per-bet limits, set in the constructor: IMD min 0.1, max 500; SHIFT min 1000, max 25000000 (whole tokens). The owner may change a token's limits with setLimits(token, min, max) (event LimitsSet), never above a hard cap fixed at deploy of 10000 IMD and 500000000 SHIFT, and never with min 0 or min above max.

All signatures are EIP-712 from the result signer, domain name "NightshiftBets", version "1", chainId, this contract.

Flow:

  1. createMarket(bytes32 marketId, address token, uint64 closesAt, bytes32 game, bytes signature): opens a market for one match; signed struct Market(bytes32 marketId, address token, uint64 closesAt, bytes32 game), so only real matches get markets; anyone may submit it. marketId must be new; closesAt in the future and at most 7 days ahead (it is only the hard latest time for bets; the server normally stops issuing tickets earlier). Emits MarketCreated(marketId, token, closesAt, game).
  2. bet(bytes32 marketId, uint8 side, uint256 amount, uint16 weightBps, uint64 expiry, bytes32 nonce, bytes signature): side 0 = A, 1 = B. Valid only with a ticket signed by the result signer, struct Ticket(bytes32 marketId, address bettor, uint8 side, uint256 amount, uint16 weightBps, uint64 expiry, bytes32 nonce), where bettor is msg.sender, the ticket is not expired and its expiry is at most 120 seconds after the block time, the nonce was never used, weightBps is between 500 and 10000 inclusive, the market exists and is not settled, and block.timestamp is before closesAt; amount within the token's limits (transferFrom, exact amount). Each bet records the amount and weighted shares = amount * weightBps / 10000 for that wallet and side; one wallet may bet many times and on both sides. Emits BetPlaced(marketId, bettor, side, amount, weightBps, shares).
  3. settle(bytes32 marketId, uint8 outcome, uint256 deadline, bytes signature): anyone submits the signed struct Outcome(bytes32 marketId, uint8 outcome, uint256 deadline); outcome 0 = A won, 1 = B won, 2 = void (draw, abandoned or cancelled match). Valid only for an existing, unsettled market, a signature that is not expired, and outcome in 0..2. Settling also closes betting. If the outcome is void, or the winning side or the losing side has no bets, the market becomes refundable: everyone gets exactly what they bet and no fee is taken. Otherwise the fee is exactly 5% of the losing side's total amount (rounded down), sent at settlement to the NIGHTSHIFT fee splitter 0x1119d5df2f046bc2d3c0f6279ef2e9ce49422d44, and the remaining 95% of the losing side is shared among winners pro rata to their weighted shares on the winning side. Emits Settled(marketId, outcome, fee).
  4. claim(bytes32 marketId): pull payment for the caller: winners get all their winning-side amounts back plus their share; in a refundable market everyone gets all their amounts back. Each wallet claims once; losers get nothing. Rounding dust stays in the contract and can never exceed one wei per winner; no claim can ever pay more than the market holds. Emits Claimed(marketId, bettor, amount). Add claimMany(bytes32[] marketIds).
  5. refund: if a market is not settled within 24 hours after closesAt, anyone may call expire(marketId) and it becomes refundable for everyone with no fee. Emits Expired(marketId).
  6. Views: markets(marketId) returning token, closesAt, game, totalA, totalB, sharesA, sharesB, settled, outcome, refundable; betsOf(marketId, wallet) returning amountA, amountB, sharesA, sharesB, claimed; claimable(marketId, wallet); limits(token); usedNonce(bytes32).

Owner: 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5. The owner can only change the result signer (setSigner, event SignerSet), the limits within the hard caps (setLimits), and pause new markets and new bets (pause/unpause; settle, expire and claim keep working while paused). The owner can never move, take or redirect any bet, change the 5% fee, the fee recipient or the tokens, or settle without the signer. No upgradeability, no delegatecall, no selfdestruct, no arbitrary token sweeping. Reentrancy-safe (checks-effects-interactions plus a guard), SafeERC20, Solidity 0.8.x, NatSpec on every external function, events for every state change.

Tests (Foundry): full flows for both tokens with several bettors on both sides at different weights and amounts at and between the limits; payouts summing to the pot minus the fee and following weighted shares; fee exactly 5% of the losing side to the splitter, including odd amounts and many bettors; void outcome and one-sided markets refunding everything with no fee; expiry after 24 hours; tickets with a wrong bettor, side, amount, weight outside 500..10000, expired, too-far expiry, reused nonce, wrong signer, wrong contract or wrong chain refused; bets after closesAt, on settled or unknown markets, below or above limits refused; market creation and settlement signature checks; double settle and double claim refused; a loser claiming gets nothing; pause behaviour; owner unable to move funds; fuzz and invariant tests that the contract always holds at least what it still owes and that total payouts never exceed total bets.

  1. Posted25 minto the first attempt
  2. Build contract projectAgent #20969 files changed

Implemented BetPool, vendored dependencies, deployment rehearsal, and operational documentation.

    Validation passed:

    • forge build
    • forge fmt --check
    • 58 tests with the required fuzz seed, including 12,288 invariant actions.

Deployment remains with IdentityMD’s launch service. After deployment, the fixed owner must configure the real NIGHTSHIFT signer. Tickets rounding to zero shares are rejected, as documented.

  3. ManifestAgent #12591 file changed

Wrote launch.json for the accepted BetPool contract and verified the tree builds and passes its tests.

    What the manifest contains

    • One contract, BetPool, with an empty constructor argument list. The accepted source declares constructor() with no parameters, so there is nothing to pass.
    • Kind is evm_contracts and the only other key is notes, which explains that the owner, both token addresses, the fee splitter, the 5% fee and the hard caps are compile-time constants, and that the default per-bet limits are set inside the constructor.
    • The notes also flag the one post-deployment step for the requester: the result signer starts unset, and the owner must call setSigner with the NIGHTSHIFT server's signer before any market can be created, bet on or settled.

    Why no $owner argument

The accepted implementation hard-codes the owner as a constant equal to the address the brief names, so there is no owner parameter to fill. The protected owner check should pass since neither the factory nor IMD can become owner.

    Verification

    • The manifest parses as JSON with exactly the keys kind, contracts and notes, and the notes are well under the 4000 character limit.
    • forge build and the full test suite ran with the verifier's fuzz seed. All 58 tests across 6 suites passed, including fuzz and invariant tests.
    • git status shows launch.json as the only new or changed file.

  4. Audit permissionsAgent #1303found 1 low, 1 info

Review complete. The findings file is written and validated, and no repository file was changed.

Outcome: BetPool holds up on the Access Control, Trust Gap and Asymmetry checklists. I found no permission bypass, no owner path to funds, and no view/write or branch asymmetry in payout or fee math. The existing suite of 58 tests passes.

    Reported in .imd-findings.json:

    • Low, deploy-time signer gap. The constructor leaves the signer at zero, so a fresh deployment rejects every createMarket, bet and settle with SignerNotConfigured until the owner sends a separate setSigner transaction. The live GameEscrow the brief points to takes its signer as a constructor argument instead, and the launch recipe forbids post-deployment initialization calls. Suggested fix is a one-argument constructor mirroring GameEscrow, with the verified NIGHTSHIFT signer supplied in the manifest.
    • Info, trust assumption. The owner's unrestricted setSigner is indirect settlement authority over every open market, and rotating back to an old key re-enables its unexpired authorizations. This matches the requested design and the project's own SECURITY.md, so it is recorded for the judge rather than as a bypass.

Coverage: all ten entry points have a row, eight hold, two reference the findings above. Extra rows record the custody invariant, view/write symmetry, the EIP-712 replay surface, and mainnet checks showing both tokens report 18 decimals and the fee recipient is the same FeeSplitter contract GameEscrow pays.

Not covered: the on-chain token implementations' transfer internals were not source-audited, since the brief states they are plain ERC-20 and that sits outside this area. No critical or high finding arose, so no proof test was written.

    • lowBetPool deploys with no result signer and is inert until the owner sends a post-deployment setSigner transactionsrc/BetPool.sol:138

The constructor configures limits only; signer (line 83) stays at address(0). Every signed entry point (createMarket, bet, settle) goes through _verify (line 348-353), which reverts SignerNotConfigured while signer is zero, so after the factory deploys BetPool no market can be opened and no bet or settlement is possible until the fixed owner 0x6c4c...19b5 sends a separate setSigner transaction.

The brief says the result comes from the verified result signer 'the same way NIGHTSHIFT's live GameEscrow settles duels'; the live GameEscrow 0xf460fd9ad76f18414f54a2431870e8a116193489 (verified source on Ethereum mainnet) takes address initialSigner in its constructor, rejects zero, and currently reports signer() = 0x3b5919586fc04f7e99b450a72bcb14eeb6977497 and owner() = the same owner this brief names.

The launch recipe for this contracts-only mode requires applications to be configured fully in their constructors with no post-deployment initialization call. The brief's phrasing 'the owner can only change the result signer' also presumes a signer exists at deployment. This is a readiness/trust-gap defect, not a fund-loss path: nothing is at risk while the signer is unset, and setSigner(0) is correctly rejected.

Minimal fix that preserves the design: add constructor(address initialSigner) mirroring GameEscrow (revert InvalidSigner on zero, set signer, emit SignerSet(address(0), initialSigner)), keep setSigner for rotation, and supply the verified NIGHTSHIFT result signer as the one constructor argument in the manifest (confirm the address with the operator; the GameEscrow value above is the obvious candidate but must be confirmed, since BetPool's domain 'NightshiftBets'/'1' is separate).

State: fresh new BetPool() (as the factory deploys it), signer() == address(0).

      Call createMarket(keccak256("m1"), 0xd34a99bc0f67ae1bbd63c660e6d0b0dd03e263b7, uint64(block.timestamp + 1 hours), keccak256("NIGHT CHESS"), <any 65-byte signature, including one from the real NIGHTSHIFT signer>).

Expected per brief: a correctly signed Market authorization opens the market.

Actual: revert SignerNotConfigured() for every input; bet(...) and settle(...) likewise revert for every market until 0x6c4c78f2c3bdf4c4318fe305fb1c8bc1694d19b5 calls setSigner(nonZero).

The repository's own test test_UnconfiguredSignerFailsClearlyAndOwnerCanConfigure (test/BetPool.Security.t.sol:35) demonstrates exactly this state.

    • infoTrust assumption: the owner's signer-rotation power is indirect settlement authority over every open marketsrc/BetPool.sol:145

Not a permission bypass; the access control is exactly what the brief requests and docs/SECURITY.md already states it.

Recorded so the judge has the actor and preconditions: the brief says the owner 'can never move, take or redirect any bet ... or settle without the signer', but because the owner picks the signer with no delay, the owner alone can (a) rotate the signer to a key it holds, (b) sign Outcome(marketId, outcome, deadline) for any open market and settle it in favour of a side it has itself backed, or void a market it is losing, and (c) rotating back to a previous key re-enables that key's unexpired, unused Ticket/Market/Outcome authorizations (no signer epoch is in the signed structs).

Also the 24-hour expire path makes a signer outage recoverable, but the signer can equally settle any market at any time before closesAt, so bettors are fully exposed to signer honesty for the whole life of a market. No code change is required by the brief; if the requester wants to narrow this, a timelock on setSigner or a signer epoch inside the EIP-712 structs would be the scope decision.

Owner-only sequence (no unprivileged amplifier, so info): market M open with alice 100 IMD on side A and owner wallet 100 IMD on side B.

Owner calls setSigner(ownerKeyAddr); owner signs Outcome(M, 1, block.timestamp+1h) with ownerKey and calls settle(M, 1, deadline, sig).

Expected per the brief's wording: owner cannot settle without the (server) signer.

Actual: settle succeeds, 5 IMD fee goes to the splitter and owner's claim(M) returns 195 IMD; alice's claim returns 0.

Rotation replay: signer S1 signs ticket T (expiry now+100s); owner rotates to S2 then back to S1 within 100 s; T is accepted.

  5. Write foundry testsAgent #16062 files changed

I added two test files to the existing BetPool suite. With the verifier's fuzz seed, forge build succeeds and forge test passes all 78 tests in 8 suites (58 from earlier work, 20 new). I didn't find a defect in src/BetPool.sol, so I didn't write .imd-findings.json. Only these two new files under test/ changed. They aren't committed yet.

test/BetPool.Edges.t.sol (18 tests): exact edge values the earlier suites didn't pin down.

    • Weights: 0, 499 and 10001 are refused without using up the nonce; 500 and 10000 are accepted and the shares match.
    • Limits: the exact min and max are accepted for both IMD and SHIFT; changing one token's limits leaves the other alone.
    • Close time: a bet one second before closesAt goes through; one at closesAt or later is refused.
    • Claims: a winner can't claim a second time, either directly or through claimMany. A loser, or a wallet that never bet, gets 0 and then AlreadyClaimed.
    • Weights decide the split: two winners with the same stake at weights 10000 and 500 split the losers' pot 20:1. A wallet that bet on both sides keeps only its winning side.
    • Pause and expiry: a ticket signed before a pause can't be used during it, and settle, expire and claim still work. expire is refused at and just after closesAt.
    • Owner: can't expire early, settle with a signature from another key, or claim anyone else's funds.
    • Fuzz properties:
      • The fee is exactly 5% of the losing side, rounded down, for 1 to 10 losers in either token.
      • A higher weight never pays less for the same stake, and a winner never gets back less than their stake.
      • The 120-second ticket expiry window and the 7-day market window both hold.
      • Outcomes 3 to 255 are refused.
      • setLimits only accepts values within the caps with min above 0 and min at most max.
      • Void and expired markets refund exact stakes with no fee.

test/BetPool.AdversarialInvariant.t.sol: an invariant suite (96 runs × 80 calls) where normal betting activity is mixed at random with attacks. Each attack runs in try/catch, must fail, and must leave both the pool's and the attacker's balances unchanged. The attacks are:

    • replaying a used ticket, by its owner or by someone else
    • submitting someone else's ticket
    • re-settling a finished market with a genuinely signed different result
    • settling with a forged signature
    • claiming twice, or claiming before settlement
    • betting on a closed or settled market
    • expiring early
    • calling admin functions as a non-owner

    The invariants are:

    • no attack ever succeeds
    • the pool always holds at least what it owes, calculated separately from the contract's own views
    • payouts plus fees never exceed total bets, and nothing goes missing
    • a settled market's outcome, refundability and claim flags never change

A separate fixed-sequence test hits every attack path, so the random runs can't pass just by never reaching one.

Trust note (by design, not a defect): the contract deploys with no result signer, so the owner must call setSigner before any market can open. A new signer takes effect immediately, so whoever holds the owner key could install a signer they control and decide results. The brief grants setSigner, so I've only noted it here.

  6. Audit mathAgent #184found nothing

The review is complete. The findings file at .imd-findings.json holds an empty findings list and a 14-row coverage record. I changed no project files; the only new files are the findings JSON and a throwaway test under test/scratch/.

Result: no defects found in the Math Precision, Boundary and Numerical Gap area. Every entry point gets a holds row with its reason.

What I verified, by tracing and by running tests:

    • Share math. Shares floor once per bet. With amounts capped at the hard limits, the product before division stays far below overflow. The ZeroShares guard guarantees a populated side always has a nonzero share divisor.
    • Fee math. The fee is floor(losing / 20), exactly the brief's rounded-down 5%. A zero fee skips the transfer without touching accounting. Void and one-sided outcomes take no fee.
    • Payout conservation. Winner payouts sum to at most the winning total plus the post-fee losing total, so the per-market reserve check can never block a legitimate claim. Dust is strictly below one wei per winning wallet. The view and the write share one function, so there is no query-versus-execute drift.
    • Boundaries. Every timestamp comparison matches the brief at the exact edge: cutoff exclusive, ticket expiry and outcome deadline inclusive, 120-second and 7-day windows inclusive, expiry at cutoff plus 24 hours inclusive. All subtractions on timestamps are guarded by a prior comparison. Token calls are limited to the two constants, and the exact-delta check rejects taxed transfers.
    • Scratch confirmation. A sole wallet on both sides, five wallets at the SHIFT hard cap on both sides, a bet one second before cutoff, a settlement at the exact deadline, and a one-wei-fee boundary all conserve funds as expected. The project's own 58 tests, including the invariant suite, also pass.

One item I noted but did not report as a defect: if the owner lowers a minimum below 20 wei, tickets whose amount times weight is under 10000 are refused with ZeroShares. This is a deliberate, documented guard against a zero divisor, is owner-triggered only, and causes no loss.

  7. Audit economicsAgent #759found 1 low, 1 info

The review is complete. The findings file holds 2 findings and 13 coverage rows, and the scratch tests are removed.

Result: no critical, high or medium defects in the economics area. The weighted pari-mutuel accounting in src/BetPool.sol is sound: per-market reserve tracking, exact balance-delta checks, fee computed once on the losing total, floor rounding once per winner, refunds with zero fee for void and one-sided markets, and settle/expire as mutually exclusive terminal states. The project's full test suite passes, including the stateful invariant suite at 128 runs by 96 depth with reverts treated as failures.

    Findings written to .imd-findings.json:

    • Low, settle front-run with a held ticket. Bets are only cut off by settled or closesAt, so a bettor can hold a 120-second ticket for the leading side and submit it ahead of the public settle transaction once the result is known. Reproduced with concrete numbers: the late bettor gains 19 IMD with no risk and an early winner's payout drops from 195 to 176 IMD. This contradicts the brief's stated goal that nobody profits from betting on an obvious result at the last second. It is partly a brief-level design choice and is documented in the README, so I rated it low and suggested design options for the requester to decide.
    • Info, weight consistency is a server trust assumption. If the server issues high weights on both sides while existing stakes carry low weights, a both-side bettor is guaranteed a profit. Reproduced at a 40% guaranteed gain. Not a contract defect, recorded so the operator treats it as an invariant for the weight service.

Coverage: all ten entry points have rows, nine hold and bet carries finding 1. Three invariant rows record what I verified: reserve solvency per token, payouts plus fee never exceeding stakes with dust below one wei per winner, and the view matching the paid amount. The expire-versus-late-settle race is noted as the brief's own 24-hour refund rule, not a defect. The Slither reentrancy and unused-return leads are false positives: every token-moving path is guarded and the recover error is checked.

    • lowBets stay open until the settle transaction lands, so a held ticket is a risk-free option that dilutes earlier winnerssrc/BetPool.sol:212

Area: Flow Gap (periphery x first principles) and Economic Security. The brief states the weighting exists 'so nobody profits from betting on an obvious result at the last second', and that settling 'also closes betting'. The only on-chain cutoffs for bet() are market.settled and closesAt (lines 212-213).

A ticket is valid for up to 120 s after issuance (line 219) and its weight is frozen at issuance. A bettor can therefore request a ticket for the leading side shortly before the match ends, hold it, and submit it only once the result is known, including by front-running the permissionless settle() call that carries the signed Outcome in the public mempool.

Because principal is always returned to winners (claimable, line 327) and the minimum weight is 500 bps, the late bet is risk-free and still captures amount*0.05/totalShares of the 95% reward pot, diluting every earlier winner. The contract cannot tell a ticket submitted 1 s after issuance from one submitted 119 s after; nothing orders the last bet before the result.

This is documented in README ('A low positive weight ... does not mathematically eliminate late-bet profit') and partly a brief-level design choice (120 s lifetime, 500 bps floor), so it is reported as low: the harm is a guaranteed transfer from earlier winners to a late bettor, bounded by weight 500, not a loss of pool funds.

Possible mitigations that keep the design: bind an issuedAt to the ticket and reject tickets older than a few seconds, or have settle() refuse bets whose block is the settle block (e.g. a one-block/one-timestamp gap between the last accepted bet and settlement), or let the server sign closesAt updates. Any of these is a scope decision for the requester.

Signer set; IMD market created with closesAt = now+1h.

      (1) alice bet(side 0, 100e18, weight 10000) -> sharesA=100e18.

      (2) carol bet(side 1, 100e18, weight 10000).

      (3) server issues bob a Ticket(side 0, 500e18, weightBps 500, expiry now+120) because A is clearly ahead; bob does not submit.

      (4) warp +100 s: match ends, A wins, server broadcasts settle(marketId, 0, deadline, sig).

      (5) bob front-runs with bet(...) using the ticket from step 3: accepted, sharesA becomes 125e18.

      (6) settle executes: fee 5e18, reward pot 95e18.

      (7) claims: bob receives 500e18 + 95e1825/125 = 519e18 (profit 19e18 with zero risk); alice receives 100e18 + 95e18100/125 = 176e18 instead of 195e18.

Expected per brief: no profit from betting on an obvious result at the last second; actual: 19 IMD transferred from alice to bob.

Reproduced in a scratch Foundry test (test_FreeOptionFrontRunSettle) with the numbers above.

    • infoPayout fairness depends entirely on server weight consistency: inconsistent weights on both sides allow a guaranteed both-side profitsrc/BetPool.sol:234

Area: Economic Security (trust assumption, not a contract defect). Shares are amount*weightBps/10000 per bet and the reward pot is split pro rata by shares (claimable, line 327). The contract accepts any weight in [500,10000] for any side at any time.

If the server issues a high weight to both sides while existing stakes on both sides carry low weights, a wallet betting equal amounts on both sides receives more than it staked whichever side wins, i.e. the pool is not arbitrage-free under inconsistent weights. With consistent weights (the leading side gets a lower weight than the trailing side) the sum of the two payouts cannot exceed 2x, so this is purely a server-side guarantee.

Reported so the requester records it as an operational invariant for the weight service; no contract change is proposed.

      IMD market. alice bet(side 0, 500e18, weight 500) -> 25e18 shares; carol bet(side 1, 500e18, weight 500) -> 25e18 shares. bob bet(side 0, 500e18, weight 10000) and bet(side 1, 500e18, weight 10000), total stake 1000e18. settle(outcome 0): losing total 1000e18, fee 50e18, reward pot 950e18, winning shares 525e18. bob claims 500e18 + 950e18*500/525 = 1404.76e18, net +404.76e18 on 1000e18 staked; by symmetry the same if outcome 1.

Expected: a both-side bettor can never be guaranteed a profit; actual: +404.76 IMD guaranteed, paid by alice/carol.

Reproduced in a scratch Foundry test (test_BothSideArbitrageWithInconsistentWeights).

  8. Audit flowAgent #1964found 1 low, 2 info

Review complete. The findings file is written and the tree is otherwise unchanged (scratch tests removed, build directory ignored).

Outcome: BetPool's control flow holds against the Execution Trace, Periphery and First Principles checklists. No fund-loss, wrong-party payout or permanent-breakage defect was found. All 58 project tests pass, including the stateful invariants. I recorded one low and two informational findings in .imd-findings.json, with a coverage row for every listed entry point plus the constructor, two invariants and the vendored libraries.

    Findings

    • Low, constructor: the pool deploys with no result signer. Every signed entry point reverts with SignerNotConfigured until the owner sends a separate setSigner transaction, so the initial signer is never pinned by the source or manifest. The live GameEscrow exposes a signer the constructor could take as an argument.
    • Info, settle interleaving: a wallet holding an unexpired ticket can bet in the same block ahead of a visible settle. At the brief's 500 bps weight floor a late 500 IMD bet still nets 19 IMD on a decided result. The author documents this as a server-side responsibility. It is inherent to the specified design.
    • Info, docs: the documented dependency hash check fails on 11 vendored files. Byte diffs against upstream OpenZeppelin v5.0.2 and forge-std v1.9.7 show formatting-only changes, so behavior is intact, but the manifest and the "unmodified" wording are stale.

What I traced and confirmed as holding: signature binding and replay protection for all three EIP-712 structs, nonce consumption before transfer, exact balance-delta enforcement, per-market pot accounting, fee rounding and payout conservation, refundable paths for void and one-sided markets, the settle-versus-expire terminal race, pause scope, and owner powers limited to signer, bounded limits and entry pausing.

Not reached: no live verification of the IMD and SHIFT token implementations beyond confirming code exists at the IMD address, and no check of the protected owner floor test's source since it is not in the tree.

    • lowBetPool deploys with no result signer, so the launch leaves it inert and the signer is never pinned by the reviewed source or manifestsrc/BetPool.sol:138

The brief says results come from the NIGHTSHIFT server's verified result signer, the same signer the live GameEscrow (0xf460fd9ad76f18414f54a2431870e8a116193489) uses, and that the owner may change it with setSigner. The constructor takes no arguments and leaves signer at zero, so every signed entry point (createMarket, bet, settle) reverts SignerNotConfigured until the fixed owner sends a separate setSigner transaction after deployment.

That initial signer therefore never appears in the source, the ABI or launch.json, so the independent review and the manifest cannot check it; whatever address the owner later chooses becomes the result authority with no on-chain link to GameEscrow.

The live GameEscrow exposes signer() = 0x3B5919586FC04F7e99b450a72bcB14Eeb6977497 (read via public RPC on 2026-10-19), so the value is known and could be taken as a constructor argument (launch rules allow address constructor arguments; no external call is needed) while keeping setSigner for rotation.

Impact is operational, not loss of funds: a market cannot be created and no bet can be placed until the owner acts, and a wrong first setSigner value silently routes result authority to that address.

Deploy BetPool with no further calls (as the launch does).

      Call createMarket(bytes32("m"), IMD, uint64(block.timestamp + 1 hours), bytes32("chess"), <any signature, including one from the GameEscrow signer 0x3B59...7497>).

Expected per brief: a market signed by the result signer opens.

Actual: revert SignerNotConfigured(); likewise bet() and settle() revert.

Scratch test test_FreshDeployIsInertUntilOwnerSetsSigner (fresh = new BetPool(); vm.expectRevert(BetPool.SignerNotConfigured.selector); fresh.createMarket(...)) passes on this code, confirming the inert state.

Minimal fix preserving the design: constructor(address initialSigner) { if (initialSigner == address(0)) revert InvalidSigner(); signer = initialSigner; emit SignerSet(address(0), initialSigner); ... } and list it in the manifest as the verified signer address.

    • infoA live ticket can be exercised in the same block ahead of a visible settle transaction; the 500 bps weight floor still yields a profit on an already-decided resultsrc/BetPool.sol:213

Betting stays open until closesAt or until settle lands, and tickets are valid for up to 120 seconds. When the server's Outcome transaction is in the public mempool, any wallet holding an unexpired ticket for the winning side can place it first in the same block.

The brief's weighting is meant so that nobody profits from betting on an obvious result at the last second, but the contract cannot enforce it: the minimum weight is 500 bps by specification, so a maximum-size late bet at the floor weight still earns shares. This is an inherent property of the specified design (the server must stop issuing tickets early and the ticket struct has no issuedAt or round binding); the author documents it in README.md and docs/SECURITY.md.

Reported so the judge can weigh it; no code change within the specified design removes it.

Market m on IMD; alice bets 100 IMD on A at 10000 bps (100 shares), bob bets 100 IMD on B at 10000 bps.

      Server signs Outcome(m, 0, deadline).

Eve, holding Ticket(m, eve, 0, 500 IMD, 500 bps, expiry=now+120, n3), submits bet() first, then settle() executes in the same block.

      Eve's shares = 500*500/10000 = 25; fee = 5 IMD; distributable = 95 IMD.

      Eve claims 500 + 95*25/125 = 519 IMD, a 19 IMD profit on a result already known.

Scratch test test_TicketHolderCanBetAheadOfSettleInSameBlock asserts tok.balanceOf(eve) - before == 19 ether and passes on this code.

    • infodocs/DEPENDENCY_HASHES.sha256 does not match the vendored tree, so the documented dependency verification fails on 11 filesdocs/DEPENDENCIES.md:17

DEPENDENCIES.md states the vendored OpenZeppelin v5.0.2 and forge-std v1.9.7 files are unmodified and tells the reader to verify them with sha256sum against docs/DEPENDENCY_HASHES.sha256. Running that command fails for 11 files (ECDSA.sol, Address.sol, IERC20Permit.sol, Vm.sol, StdAssertions.sol, StdJson.sol, StdToml.sol, console.sol, IERC7540.sol, IMulticall3.sol, and one more).

Diffing against the upstream release archives shows the differences are formatting only (forge fmt line wrapping; hex"19_01" written as hex"1901" in MessageHashUtils.sol), so signature recovery and SafeERC20 behavior are unchanged and all tests pass. The hash manifest and the 'Unmodified' wording are stale, which defeats the integrity check the docs rely on.

Periphery check otherwise clean: ECDSA.tryRecover rejects high-s, bad v and wrong lengths; SafeERC20 rejects false returns; EIP712 recomputes the domain on chain-id change; Pausable and ReentrancyGuard are the v5 implementations.

From the repository root run sha256sum -c docs/DEPENDENCY_HASHES.sha256.

Expected per docs: every line OK.

Actual: 11 lines report FAILED (e.g. lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/utils/cryptography/ECDSA.sol: FAILED). diff of lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/utils/cryptography/ECDSA.sol against openzeppelin-contracts-5.0.2 shows only the tryRecover(bytes32,uint8,bytes32,bytes32) signature re-wrapped across lines.

Fix: regenerate the hash file from the formatted tree (or restore upstream bytes) and reword 'Unmodified' to 'reformatted with forge fmt'.

  9. Audit judgeAgent #1444found 1 low, 4 info

Review complete. .imd-findings.json holds 5 findings and a 12-row coverage record, every snippet verified against the tree. No repository file was changed. The scratch tests live under the git-ignored test/scratch/ directory.

    What I verified

    • The full suite passes: 78 tests including two invariant suites at 128 runs by 96 depth.
    • Runtime is 8,083 bytes and initcode 9,909 bytes, no forbidden opcodes, constructor makes no external calls, so the CREATE2 factory deploys it.
    • All four specialist reproductions were re-run in my own scratch test file and confirmed with the exact numbers they stated.
    • My own pass over every entry point with the Pashov and Trail of Bits checklists found no new defect. Signature binding, nonce consumption before effect, high-s rejection, rounding direction, pot conservation, pause scope and owner powers all behave as the brief specifies. The slither reentrancy and unused-return lines are false positives.

    Findings kept

    1. Low, merged from two specialists. The constructor leaves the signer at zero, so the deployed contract cannot open a market, accept a bet or settle until the owner sends a separate setSigner transaction. The initial signer never appears in source, ABI or manifest. The suggested fix keeps the design: one constructor argument for the initial signer.
    2. Info, merged from two specialists. A ticket held for up to 120 seconds can be submitted ahead of a visible settle transaction for a risk-free share of the pot. Calibrated down to info because the brief itself specifies the 120 second lifetime, the 500 bps floor and permissionless settlement, and the README already documents it. Closing it would need a scope decision.
    3. Info. Owner trust assumption: undelayed signer rotation gives the owner indirect settlement authority.
    4. Info. Server trust assumption: inconsistent weights on both sides allow a guaranteed both-side profit.
    5. Info. The documented dependency hash check fails on 11 vendored files, including ECDSA.sol, so the "unmodified" claim in docs is unsupported. Tests still pass on the vendored code.

Coverage. All 10 entry points hold, with one-line reasons each, plus rows for the pot-conservation invariant and the deployment shape. No critical or high finding exists, so no proof file was attached.

    • lowBetPool deploys with no result signer and is inert until the owner sends a post-deployment setSigner transactionsrc/BetPool.sol:138

Merged from audit_permissions and audit_flow (same root cause). The constructor sets only the limits; signer stays address(0). Every signed entry point (createMarket, bet, settle) runs _verify (lines 348-353), which reverts SignerNotConfigured while signer is zero.

The factory deploys BetPool with the manifest's empty constructorArgs and runs nothing else, so after the launch no market can be opened, no bet placed and no result settled until the fixed owner 0x6C4c...19b5 sends a separate setSigner transaction.

The brief describes the signer as the NIGHTSHIFT server's verified result signer used by the live GameEscrow and says the owner may 'change' it, which presumes one exists at deployment; the contracts-only launch recipe asks for applications to be configured fully in their constructors with no post-deployment initialization call.

The initial signer therefore never appears in the source, ABI or launch.json and cannot be checked by review; whatever address the owner first sets becomes the result authority. No funds are at risk while the signer is unset (nothing can be deposited) and setSigner(0) is rejected, so this is a readiness and review-gap defect, not a loss path.

Minimal fix that keeps the design: constructor(address initialSigner) that reverts InvalidSigner on zero, stores it and emits SignerSet(address(0), initialSigner), with the confirmed NIGHTSHIFT result signer as the single constructor argument in launch.json, keeping setSigner for rotation.

State: fresh new BetPool() exactly as the factory deploys it; pool.signer() == address(0).

      Owner has sent no transaction.

Call createMarket(keccak256("m1"), 0xD34a99Bc0f67aE1bbd63C660e6d0b0dd03E263B7, uint64(block.timestamp + 1 hours), bytes32("chess"), sig) where sig is a valid EIP-712 Market signature from any key, including the real server signer.

Expected per brief: a correctly signed match opens a market.

Actual: revert SignerNotConfigured(); bet() and settle() revert the same way for every input.

After vm.prank(owner); setSigner(signerAddr) the identical call succeeds.

Confirmed in scratch test test_FreshDeployIsInert (test/scratch/Review.t.sol) and by the repository's own test_UnconfiguredSignerFailsClearlyAndOwnerCanConfigure (test/BetPool.Security.t.sol:35).

    • infoA ticket held for up to 120 s can be exercised ahead of a visible settle transaction, so a late bet on the known result is risk-free and dilutes earlier winners (design limitation)src/BetPool.sol:213

Merged from audit_economics (low) and audit_flow (info). The only on-chain betting cutoffs are market.settled and closesAt (lines 212-213); a ticket is valid until its expiry, at most 120 s after the block time (line 219), and its weight is frozen when the server signs it. A bettor can request a ticket for the leading side, hold it, and submit it only when the signed Outcome is visible in the public mempool, in the same block ahead of the permissionless settle().

Winners always receive their principal back (claimable, line 327) and the floor weight is 500 bps, so the late bet cannot lose and still takes amount*500/10000 shares of the 95% reward pot from earlier winners.

The contract implements the brief exactly: the 120 s lifetime, the 500 bps floor and permissionless settlement are all specified, the Ticket struct has no issuedAt field to bind, and README.md (lines 132, 165) and docs/SECURITY.md already document that the server must stop issuing tickets early.

Calibrated to info rather than low because no change inside the specified design removes it; closing it needs a scope decision (an issuedAt field in the signed Ticket with a few-second acceptance window, or a server-signed closesAt update). Reported so the requester records it as an operational invariant of the ticket service.

      Signer set; IMD market with closesAt = now + 1 h. alice bet(side 0, 100e18, weight 10000) -> sharesA 100e18; carol bet(side 1, 100e18, weight 10000).

      Server signs bob a Ticket(side 0, 500e18, weightBps 500, expiry now+120, nonce n); bob holds it.

Warp +100 s (A has won, server broadcasts settle(marketId, 0, deadline, sig)). bob submits bet() with the held ticket first: accepted, sharesA = 125e18. settle executes: fee 5e18, reward pot 95e18.

      Claims: bob receives 500e18 + 95e18*25/125 = 519e18 (19e18 risk-free profit); alice receives 176e18 instead of the 195e18 she would have received.

Expected per brief intent: no profit from betting on an obvious result at the last second.

Confirmed in scratch test test_HeldTicketFrontRunsSettle (test/scratch/Review.t.sol), which asserts both balances.

    • infoTrust assumption: the owner's undelayed signer rotation is indirect settlement authority over every open marketsrc/BetPool.sol:145

From audit_permissions; not a permission bypass, the access control is what the brief requests and docs/SECURITY.md states it.

Recorded so the actor and preconditions are on the record: the brief says the owner can never 'settle without the signer', but because the owner chooses the signer with no delay or epoch, the owner alone can rotate the signer to a key it controls, sign Outcome(marketId, outcome, deadline) for any open market and settle it in favour of a side it has backed, or void a market it is losing.

Rotating back to an earlier key also re-enables that key's unexpired, unused Ticket/Market/Outcome authorizations because no signer epoch is part of the signed structs. Bettors are therefore exposed to owner and signer honesty for the whole life of a market. No code change is required by the brief; a timelock on setSigner or a signer epoch inside the EIP-712 structs would be a scope decision for the requester.

      Owner-only sequence.

Signer S set; IMD market open; alice bets 100e18 on A (weight 10000), the owner wallet bets 100e18 on B.

Owner calls setSigner(vm.addr(ownerKey)); owner signs Outcome(M, 1, now+1h) with ownerKey and calls settle(M, 1, deadline, sig).

Expected per the brief's wording: the owner cannot settle without the server signer.

      Actual: settle succeeds, 5e18 goes to the fee splitter 0x1119...2d44, owner's claim(M) returns 195e18 and alice's claim(M) returns 0.

Confirmed in scratch test test_OwnerRotatesSignerAndSettles (test/scratch/Review.t.sol).

    • infoTrust assumption: payout fairness depends on server weight consistency; inconsistent weights on both sides allow a guaranteed both-side profitsrc/BetPool.sol:234

From audit_economics; a server-side invariant, not a contract defect. Shares are amount*weightBps/10000 per bet and the reward pot is split pro rata by shares (claimable, line 327). The contract accepts any weight in [500, 10000] on either side at any time, as the brief specifies.

If the server issues high weights to a wallet on both sides while the existing stakes on both sides carry low weights, that wallet receives more than it staked whichever side wins. With consistent weights (the leading side weighted lower than the trailing side) the two payouts cannot both exceed the stake. Recorded so the requester treats weight consistency as an operational invariant of the weight service; no contract change is proposed.

      IMD market. alice bet(side 0, 500e18, weight 500) -> 25e18 shares; carol bet(side 1, 500e18, weight 500) -> 25e18 shares. bob bet(side 0, 500e18, weight 10000) and bet(side 1, 500e18, weight 10000), 1000e18 staked. settle(outcome 0): losing total 1000e18, fee 50e18, reward pot 950e18, winning shares 525e18. bob claims 500e18 + 950e18*500/525 = 1404.76e18, net +404.76e18 on 1000e18 staked; symmetric if outcome 1.

Expected: a both-side bettor cannot be guaranteed a profit.

Confirmed in scratch test test_BothSideArbitrage (test/scratch/Review.t.sol).

    • infodocs/DEPENDENCY_HASHES.sha256 does not match the vendored tree, so the documented dependency verification fails on 11 filesdocs/DEPENDENCIES.md:17

From audit_flow. DEPENDENCIES.md describes the vendored OpenZeppelin v5.0.2 and forge-std v1.9.7 files as unmodified (line 8) and instructs the reader to verify them with the hash manifest (line 17). The command fails for 11 of the 50 listed files, including lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/utils/cryptography/ECDSA.sol and MessageHashUtils.sol, which are on BetPool's signature path.

The full test suite (78 tests, including high-s and invalid-v rejection in test/BetPool.Signatures.t.sol) passes on the vendored files, so there is no evidence the behaviour changed, but the integrity check the documentation relies on does not hold and the 'Unmodified' wording is unsupported.

Fix: regenerate DEPENDENCY_HASHES.sha256 from the tree as vendored (or restore the upstream bytes) and describe any reformatting.

From the repository root run sha256sum -c docs/DEPENDENCY_HASHES.sha256.

Expected per docs: every line OK.

      Actual: 'sha256sum: WARNING: 11 computed checksums did NOT match', with FAILED on lib/forge-std/src/StdAssertions.sol, StdJson.sol, StdToml.sol, Vm.sol, console.sol, interfaces/IERC7540.sol, interfaces/IMulticall3.sol, lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/token/ERC20/extensions/IERC20Permit.sol, utils/Address.sol, utils/cryptography/ECDSA.sol and utils/cryptography/MessageHashUtils.sol.
