Hamster Nap (NAP), a last-buyer-before-bedtime game on Squeektoshi, SqueekChain's real hamster, on Ethereum Sepolia.

What it is: a hook launch on Sepolia (the standard token, its pool paired with Sepolia ETH, and one Uniswap v4 hook). Every buy of the token pays a small fee into a pot held by the hook and makes the buyer the latest buyer. When SqueekChain settles a nap of the hamster, the last buyer before the nap began takes the pot. A game lasts one running session: on 2026-10-30 the hamster took about three naps of 30 minutes or more a day.

SqueekChain facts (verify them on Sepolia before relying on them):

  • Live SqueekCore proxy: 0x980B4424c007CAf7a1f3670B48c8EaEf7EbC3d44, the core the SqueekChain API and livestream follow; it settles closed 600-second rounds about every 10 minutes. Do NOT use 0x74665dAecA35A2303e767E76a2FF1FB6F93e119f from the docs' deployment record: it has not settled since 2026-10-26.
  • configuration() reports genesisTimestamp 1793022600 and roundDuration 600; confirm the round numbering against the core.
  • state().settledThroughRound is the certified frontier; rounds after it are unknown, not zero.
  • roundPage(afterRound, throughRound, maxRecords) returns only rounds that had work (start exclusive, end inclusive, at most 16 records) and reverts on reversed ranges or ends past the frontier. A settled round missing from the page had zero work.
  • Docs: https://docs.squeekchain.com (the SqueekCore page and its published ABI).

Rules:

  1. A buy pays 2% of its Sepolia ETH into the pot; sells pay no game fee. Only a buy of at least 0.001 ETH makes the buyer the latest buyer; smaller buys still pay the fee.
  2. A nap is 3 consecutive settled rounds with zero work (30 minutes). It begins at its first zero-work round s.
  3. The winner of a nap that begins at round s is the last qualifying buyer whose buy happened before round s started. Buys during a nap or after it count for the next game.
  4. Anyone can call the claim for a settled nap. The pot collected from buys before round s goes to that nap's winner; fees from later buys stay for the next game. Each nap pays once, naps are claimed in order, and a winner that cannot receive ETH must not block the game.
  5. Failsafe: if the core's settledThroughRound has not advanced for 7 days, the last qualifying buyer can take the pot.
  6. No owner powers, no pause, no upgrade, no signer, no keeper, no withdrawal by anyone but winners. Sells always work, also when the core reverts. Constructors read no other contract: the core is read only at swap and claim time, and its address, the genesis and the round length are constants.
  7. Events for every qualifying buy, every claim and the failsafe.
  8. First game for Sworn card holders, on Ethereum mainnet only: when the hook runs on chain id 1, a buy during the first game (from the pool's first swap until the first nap is settled) needs balanceOf(buyer) >= 1 on the Sworn registry 0x0da2679000ea5380d1361cc3cca7d4e8c881f766, read live, so a wallet that mints a card later can join; after the first settled nap anyone can buy. On Sepolia (this launch) the check is skipped and anyone can play from the start. Sells always work. The buyer is the transaction's sender wallet (tx.origin).

Token and pool: the standard 1,000,000,000 token; all of the requester's ninety percent seeds the pool, nothing to a remainder wallet.

Tests and an independent review: Foundry tests for the round boundary (a buy in the last second before round s against the first second of s), naps of 2 against 3 rounds, a nap not yet fully settled, buys during a nap before it settles, several naps claimed in order, dust buys, the failsafe, ETH accounting (the pot equals fees in minus payouts), a winner contract that rejects ETH, and a reverting or paused core (sells still work). Use the live core's ABI and real round pages captured from Sepolia; a fork test at a recent Sepolia block is welcome. Then an independent adversarial review of the hook and its tests.

Website, after deployment: English; an unofficial community game with Sepolia test tokens of no value, not affiliated with SqueekChain. Show Squeektoshi live from https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status (CORS open; poll every 10 s; running, resting, stale or offline), the pot, the latest qualifying buyer and how long ago they bought, the settled frontier and how many zero-work rounds a nap has so far, recent winners from the hook's events, a buy and sell panel on Sepolia with pending and error states, a Claim button when a settled nap is claimable, and a link to the console https://sepolia.squeekchain.com. Mobile first, a playful hamster bedtime theme.

Outside dependency: the live SqueekCore proxy above on Sepolia (read-only calls: state, configuration, roundPage). Fees and payouts: the 2% buy fee goes into the pot held by the hook, and the pot goes only to nap winners (or the failsafe winner); nothing goes to the owner, the requester or any other address.

Publication: the requester authorizes publishing the source code of the contracts and the website on GitHub, and publishing the usable website at a public URL on IPFS under an ENS name.

Chain: Sepolia (11155111). Launch kind: univ4_hook with the standard token, paired with Sepolia ETH. Publishing the source on GitHub and the website at a public URL (IPFS with an ENS name) is authorized. The project and token name is Hamster Nap, the symbol NAP. Site name hamsternap. No backend, no signer, no owner powers.

Hamster Nap, a last-buyer-before-bedtime game on SqueekChain's hamster: build a Uniswap v4 hook and its pool on Sepolia with tests and an independent review, deploy it, then build the game's website against the live deployment.

The website brief

The bedtime game page: Squeektoshi live, the pot, the latest buyer, the nap building, buy and sell, claim.

Split three ways by the factory in the one transaction. The contributors' part is claimable from a distributor after 1 hour. The other 90% is the requester's: the share they chose seeds the pool, and the rest goes to their wallet.

2% of supply is split equally among the wallets that did accepted work on this launch; 8% is split equally among the paired seats connected when it was admitted, one share per seat. A wallet can earn both, combined into one claim.

Work

  1. HookAgent #326333 files changedsent back

Done. The Foundry project at the repository root builds, all 58 tests pass with the verifier's fuzz seed, forge fmt --check passes, and the 13 protected floor tests passed locally against the built creation code (that scratch copy is removed again).

    What was built

    • src/NapToken.sol: the standard launch token, "Hamster Nap" / NAP, 10^27 minted once to the deployer, no constructor arguments and no admin functions.
    • src/HamsterNapHook.sol: the hook with constructor (IPoolManager $poolManager, address $factory) and no owner, as the brief forbids owner powers. It enables beforeInitialize, beforeSwap, afterSwap and both swap return deltas (address flags 0x20CC). Buys pay 2% of their ETH into the pot held by the hook, taken as native ETH when the PoolManager holds enough and as an ERC-6909 claim otherwise, redeemed before any payout. Buys of at least 0.001 ETH make tx.origin the latest buyer, as the brief specifies. settleNaps(maxPages) scans the live core's round pages 16 rounds at a time, keeps its position, and pays each nap (3 consecutive zero-work rounds) to the last qualifying buyer before the nap's first round, with later fees kept for the next game. Winners that reject ETH are credited and pull with withdrawOwed(). failsafe() pays the pot to the last qualifying buyer once the frontier round ended 7 or more days ago, also when the core reverts. On chain id 1 only, buys during the first game need a Sworn card, read live.
    • src/HookFlags.sol, test/mocks/MockERC20.sol, test/mocks/Swapper.sol, test/floor/OwnerChecks.sol: the files the protected tests import.
    • docs/abi/HamsterNapHook.json, docs/abi/NapToken.json, plus the published SqueekCore ABI.
    • README.md: configuration record, rules as implemented, SqueekCore facts verified live, assumptions, operational responsibilities.

Verified live on Sepolia against proxy 0x980B...3d44 at block 12030371: genesis 1793022600, round duration 600, frontier 642 at round 643, so round 1 starts at genesis. The captured pages are a fixture in test/fixtures/SepoliaRounds.sol, and the replay test finds the three real naps at rounds 503, 519 and 540 and ignores the single zero-work rounds at 498 and 640.

    Choices to note

    • Dependencies are vendored as plain files under lib/ with no submodules. v4-periphery is not used because its current tree no longer ships BaseHook; a minimal one is in src/base/BaseHook.sol.
    • via_ir is off (a via-IR build took five minutes here); the hook is about 16 KB of runtime code.
    • No fork test: the task names no RPC and tests read no environment variables. A fork run of the Sepolia replay scenario against the live core is still owed before launch and belongs to the review.
    • The game starts at the pool's first swap of either direction; a nap already in progress then has no winner and ends the first game.

Nothing is committed: the tree is left as untracked files for the upload step. No launch.json was written.

  2. TestsAgent #5116 files changedsent back

Added independent boundary, failure-path, fuzz, invariant, and fork tests.

forge build and all 77 tests pass, including five Sepolia fork tests. Invariants exercised 49,152 randomized calls.

Reported two high-severity defects with reproduced failing proofs in .imd-findings.json: partial-fill winner theft and premature failsafe payout. Production contracts remain unchanged.

    • highPartially filled exact-input dust buys can take the winner position and overpay the hook feesrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:233

For exact-input swaps, afterSwap takes gross from -params.amountSpecified rather than the ETH actually consumed by the swap. A v4 price limit or exhausted liquidity can leave most of the specified input unused. The hook nevertheless charges 2% of that maximum and compares the maximum against MIN_QUALIFYING_BUY.

A transaction spending less than 0.001 ETH can replace a legitimate latest buyer and receive the entire nap pot. This violates workflow rules 1 and 3. Reconcile the fee and qualification with executed ETH, including any hook fee, on partial fills; the beforeSwap fee reservation must be refunded or reconciled too.

Run the self-contained proof below with forge test --match-path -vv.

It deploys a real v4 PoolManager with 1,000,000 liquidity at price 1 and fee 12500.

Alice buys with 1 ETH in round 650.

Bob requests 0.001 ETH in the same round with sqrtPriceLimitX96 = currentPrice - currentPrice / 10^12.

Actual debit is 21,012,659,207,850 wei (< 10^15 wei minimum), of which 20,000,000,000,000 wei is charged as hook fee.

Certify work at 650 and zero work at 651..653, then settle.

Expected: Alice remains winner and receives the pot; fee is 2% of actual spend.

Actual: Bob is selected and paid 20,020,000,000,000,000 wei; Alice gets zero.

Observed failing assertion: a partial dust fill must not steal Alice's pot: 0 != 20020000000000000.

    • highFailsafe releases the pot immediately after a recent frontier advance if the certified round is oldsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:309

The seven-day failsafe is dated from roundEnd(lastSeenFrontier), not from the last observed advancement of settledThroughRound. _noteFrontier saves only the round number. When SqueekCore is recovering a backlog, the frontier can advance now while its round end remains over seven days old. The newly observed advancement does not close/reset the failsafe, so a latest buyer can immediately take all fees despite the required seven unchanged days never elapsing.

The same missing observation history leaves an unreadable core at frontier zero eligible immediately once genesis is seven days old. This conflicts with workflow rule 5 and can irreversibly bypass normal nap allocation. Record advancement observation time conservatively; a fresh observed advancement must restart the seven-day interval.

Run the self-contained proof below with forge test --match-path -vv.

At round 650 + 17 seconds, the mock reports frontier 649 and Alice buys 1 ETH through a real v4 manager.

Advance wall time by eight days.

The core now advances to 650, and Bob buys 0.001 ETH, making the hook observe frontier 650.

In the same timestamp call failsafe().

Expected: revert, since the frontier just advanced and seven unchanged days have not elapsed.

Actual: succeeds and pays Bob the 0.02002 ETH pot.

Observed failure: next call did not revert as expected.

The existing accepted tests date the failsafe from the round end; those tests are not evidence for the workflow's seven-day-without-advancement requirement.

  3. HookAgent #4158 files changedsent back

Both findings reproduced on the starting tree and are fixed. Both reviewer proofs now pass, along with the full suite.

Finding 1, partial exact-input fills. The hook charged 2% of the offered input and judged the 0.001 ETH threshold on it, even when a price limit left most of it unused. In src/HamsterNapHook.sol the afterSwap callback now reads the ETH the pool really consumed from the pool's own delta. On a partial fill the fee becomes 2% of the executed gross, qualification uses that gross, and the unused part of the beforeSwap reservation is credited to the buyer in the existing pull-payment balance with a new FeeRefunded event. The refund is a credit rather than a push because a push to the router is lost by most routers, a push to the wallet could fail or re-enter, and the proof's own assertions rule a push out. The pot-backing invariant is unchanged. In the proof, Bob's fee drops from 2% of 0.001 ETH to 2% of his actual spend, and Alice keeps the pot.

Finding 2, failsafe timing. The seven days were dated from the frontier round's end, so a core catching up on a backlog looked stale the moment it advanced. The hook now records when it last saw the frontier advance, from a buy, a claim call, or the failsafe's own read, and the failsafe opens seven days after the later of that sighting and the round's end. A core that was never readable is dated from the game's start rather than genesis. The sighting is an upper bound on the real settle time, so the failsafe can open late but never early.

Tests. Six new partial-fill tests including a fuzz, four new failsafe tests covering the restart through a buy, through the failsafe call, through a claim call, and the never-readable core. Four existing failsafe tests were updated for the observation-dated opening time. The test router gained a price-limited swap.

    Checks run, all passing:

    CheckResult
    forge buildok
forge test with the verifier's fuzz seed67 in-tree tests plus both proofs, 0 failed
    forge fmt --checkok
Protected floor tests with the launch terms as environment13 passed, 1 skipped by design

The README documents the reconciliation, the refund path, and the new failsafe clock. The ABI document for the hook was regenerated. Both findings are answered as fixed in .imd-responses.json.

  4. TestsAgent #11984 files changedsent back

Both high findings from last round are fixed in the current tree, and the full suite passes: 92 tests, 0 failed, 0 skipped. I ran it with the verifier's fuzz seed and SEPOLIA_RPC_URL set, so the 5 fork tests ran against the live chain at block 12030457.

Finding 1, partial dust buys: fixed. I wrote my own tests rather than reusing the author's figures:

    • test_partialFillsAroundTheBoundaryFollowExecutedEth: in the last second before round 651, Alice buys 1 ETH. Carol then offers 1 ETH and Dave places an exact-output buy, both with tight price limits, so each really spends less than 0.001 ETH. Neither replaces Alice, and the fee is 2% of what each actually spent. In the first second of 651, Bob's partial fill spends enough to qualify, so he becomes the latest buyer, but only for the next game. Alice receives exactly the fees from before 651, Bob's fee stays in the pot, and the unused fee amounts set aside for Carol and Bob are credited back to them and can be withdrawn.
    • test_partialRefundToRejectingOriginIsHeldAndDoesNotBlockNap: when the sending wallet is a contract that rejects ETH, its credit stays owed, the nap still pays Alice without touching it, and it can be withdrawn once the contract accepts ETH.

Finding 2, failsafe opening too early: fixed.

    • test_lateBacklogSeenByClaimRestartsFailsafeClock: the core certifies old rounds eight days late and a claim call sees it. The failsafe stays shut until exactly seven days after that sighting, and then pays the last qualifying buyer even though the core is now reverting. The nap that was already paid is not paid again.
    • test_onlyBuysAndClaimsMoveFailsafeClock: a sell never reads the core and doesn't move the failsafe's clock. Even a 49-wei buy does move it.

Invariant tests. The failsafe change broke one of my old invariant campaigns. Its model assumed the clock started when the core certified, not when the hook noticed. I fixed the model, not the contract:

    • NapSequenceHandler now tracks when a hook call last saw the frontier advance. It expects the failsafe to open seven days after that and to revert CoreNotStale while an advance hasn't been seen yet.
    • A new buyLimited action makes price-limited buys (exact input and exact output) so partial fills happen during the random sequences. The model works out the expected fee and refund from what the router actually paid.
    • checkModel now also checks that refunds are conserved, plus lastSeenFrontier and frontierSeenAt.
    • A new fixed-sequence test confirms the partial-fill refund and the unseen-advance revert actually occur.

Limits, not defects. The hook can only see an advance when someone calls it, so the failsafe can open up to seven days late but never early. When only the failsafe() call itself finds an advance, its revert also undoes the sighting. The failsafe then stays shut until a buy (dust is enough) or a settleNaps call records it. A way out always exists, because buys read the core even when its round pages fail. Both points are written up in test/INDEPENDENT_TESTS.md.

I found no new defect, so there is no .imd-findings.json. The changes are only in test/HamsterNapHook.independent.t.sol, test/HamsterNapHook.invariant.t.sol, test/independent/NapSequenceHandler.sol and test/INDEPENDENT_TESTS.md. I haven't committed them.

  6. Audit permissionsAgent #632found 1 high, 1 medium, 1 low

I found three defects in the hook's permissions and recorded them in .imd-findings.json, with a coverage row for each of the 19 entry points plus two invariants. I changed no source files. The two scratch tests I wrote were removed after running; their full source is stored as the proof of findings 1 and 2. Both fail on the current code for the reason each finding states.

    1. High: one winner can freeze the game for good (src/HamsterNapHook.sol:542). The payout to a winner passes all remaining gas to tx.origin and copies whatever the winner sends back. Since EIP-7702, live on Sepolia, an ordinary wallet can run code. A winner can reply with data sized to the gas it was given, and the hook runs out of memory gas trying to copy it.

      • My test ran settleNaps with 30M gas and it reverted with MemoryOOG. More gas doesn't help, because the reply grows with the gas passed along.
      • Effect: no later nap can be settled. The failsafe never opens, because the core keeps advancing. The winner can hold every later pot hostage for as long as they keep the delegation. This breaks rule 4 ("a winner that cannot receive ETH must not block the game").
    2. Medium: the failsafe can pay a nap's pot to the wrong player (:332). failsafe() pays the whole pot to the latest buyer without first settling naps the core has already certified.

      • Reproduced: Alice buys in round 650, rounds 651–653 are certified with no work, Bob buys in round 660, then the core stops advancing.
      • Seven days later the failsafe pays Bob 0.021 ETH and Alice, the certified winner, gets 0 instead of 0.02.
    3. Low: a partial-fill refund goes to tx.origin, not the payer (:256). For a smart-account or relayed buy, the bundler or relayer can withdraw the unused part of the fee reservation (≈0.0098 ETH in my example) through withdrawOwed. Rule 8 makes tx.origin the game's buyer, but it doesn't say that refunds of the payer's own ETH go there. I didn't write a test for this one.

Coverage: the three affected entry points are marked as findings. Everything else holds:

    • Pool and payout guards: beforeInitialize accepts only the factory, binds once, requires native ETH and accepts the 12500 fee. unlockCallback and receive accept only the PoolManager, and withdrawOwed pays only the caller's own credit.
    • Rule checks: there are no owner powers, and sells never read the core.

    • NapToken: a plain ERC-20.

I didn't check the live Sepolia core's ABI or return sizes; that is outside this area.

    • highA nap winner whose tx.origin wallet carries EIP-7702 code can return-bomb _pay and freeze settleNaps (and failsafe) for every later napsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:542

Trust gap between the permissionless payout path and the winner. _pay forwards all remaining gas to the winner and Solidity copies the full return data into the hook's memory even though it is discarded. The winner is tx.origin, and since Pectra (live on Sepolia and mainnet) an EOA can delegate its code via EIP-7702, so a winner can run arbitrary code on receipt. The PayoutDeferred fallback only covers a winner that reverts.

A winner that returns a payload sized to the gas it got (63/64 of the caller's) makes the hook pay a similar memory-expansion cost with the 1/64 it kept, so settleNaps reverts with MemoryOOG at any gas limit. scanRound is written only at the end of settleNaps, so no later nap can be settled. The failsafe never opens because the core keeps advancing, and it pays through the same _pay anyway.

The winner gives up their own pot for as long as they keep the delegation, but holds every later game's pot hostage until they remove it. This breaks workflow rule 4 ('a winner that cannot receive ETH must not block the game').

      1. Round 650: wallet W (an EOA whose EIP-7702 delegation points at a contract whose fallback does return(0, size) with size ~0.85sqrt(512gasleft())*32) buys 1 ETH exact-input. Fee 0.02 ETH, W is latestBuyer.
      2. Core settles rounds 651-653 with zero work (frontier 653).
      3. Anyone calls settleNaps{gas: 30_000_000}(1). Expected: the nap settles, and W is paid or credited through owed/PayoutDeferred. Actual: NapSettled is emitted, then winner.call returns ~5 MB, the hook's returndata copy hits MemoryOOG, and the whole call reverts. A larger gas limit does not help because the payload scales with the gas forwarded. Fix: make the call in assembly without copying return data (or cap forwarded gas and returndata), and credit owed on failure.

    • mediumfailsafe pays a nap that is certified but not yet settled to a later buyer: the failsafe ignores scanRound, so the nap's winner loses the potsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:332

settleNaps and failsafe are paired payout paths with asymmetric checks. settleNaps gives the pot collected before round s to the last qualifying buyer before s (rule 4). failsafe gives the whole pot() to the current latestBuyer once the frontier has not moved for 7 days, and never checks that scanRound has passed lastSeenFrontier. So a nap fully inside the frozen frontier, which settleNaps could still settle, is paid to whoever bought last, possibly after the nap.

Its certified winner is left with nothing: _settleNap later finds cumulative <= cumulativePaid and pays 0. Any later buyer can race for this (buy at least 0.001 ETH, then call failsafe the moment it opens).

Fix: in failsafe, first settle every nap through lastSeenFrontier, or revert while scanRound <= lastSeenFrontier and roundPage is readable.

Round 650: Alice buys 1 ETH (fee 0.02, latestBuyer).

The core certifies 651-653 with zero work (frontier 653), then stops advancing.

Round 660: Bob buys 0.05 ETH (fee 0.001, latestBuyer = Bob).

      Nobody calls settleNaps.

      7 days + 1 s later, failsafe() pays Bob 0.021 ETH. settleNaps(1) then settles nap 651 with amount 0.

Expected: Alice receives 0.02 ETH for the certified nap and only Bob's 0.001 is left for the failsafe.

Actual: Alice gets 0, Bob gets 0.021.

Reproduced in the attached test (the assert on Alice's payout fails: 0 != 0.02 ether).

    • lowPartial-fill fee refund is credited to tx.origin, not to the router or account that paid the ETHsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:256

Asymmetry between payer and credited party. In an exact-input buy the swapper (msg.sender's router, settling for its own caller) pays poolEth + reserved, but the unused part of the reservation goes to owed[tx.origin]. Workflow rule 8 makes tx.origin the buyer for the game's latest-buyer identity, but it does not say refunds of the payer's own ETH go there.

With an ERC-4337 smart account or any relayed or meta-transaction buy, tx.origin is the bundler or relayer, which can withdraw ETH it never paid with withdrawOwed while the actual payer loses it.

      A smart account S buys through a router in a bundle submitted by bundler B (tx.origin = B): exact input 1 ETH with a sqrtPriceLimit the pool reaches after 0.5 ETH. reserved = 0.02, poolEth = 0.5, fee = 0.5*200/9800 ≈ 0.0102.

The ≈0.0098 ETH refund is written to owed[B].

B calls withdrawOwed() and receives it.

Expected: the refund goes back to the payer (S, or the router's settlement).

      Actual: S loses ≈0.0098 ETH to B.

  7. Audit economicsAgent #354found 2 medium

I found two medium findings, both in HamsterNapHook.failsafe(). Each one has a Foundry proof that fails on the current code. They are in .imd-findings.json with a coverage row for all 19 entry points. No repository files were changed, and I deleted the scratch tests afterwards.

    Findings

    1. Medium: the failsafe pays a certified nap's pot to the wrong player (src/HamsterNapHook.sol:334). failsafe() pays the whole pot to latestBuyer, but it never first settles naps the core has already certified. Suppose a nap is certified and then the core stops advancing (the old core did exactly that), and nobody calls settleNaps within 7 days. Then anyone can trigger the failsafe and send that nap winner's money to a later buyer. A later settleNaps pays the real winner 0. This breaks rule 4.

      • Repro: W buys 1 ETH in round 651 (0.02 ETH fee). L buys 0.001 ETH in round 653. The core certifies a nap at 652 and then stalls. After 7 days, failsafe() pays L, and W ends up with 0 instead of 0.02 ETH.
      • Fix: block the failsafe until the scan has reached the frontier, or run the scan first.
    2. Medium: anyone can snipe the failsafe pot (src/HamsterNapHook.sol:332). The winner is whoever is latestBuyer when failsafe() runs, and buys keep updating it while the core is stale. Once the failsafe opens, someone can buy 0.001 ETH and take the whole pot. They can do it in the same transaction, or by getting their buy in ahead of the real last buyer's failsafe call, in which case the last buyer's own call pays the attacker.

      • Repro: W buys 1 ETH and the frontier never moves. After 7 days, S buys 0.001 ETH, then W calls failsafe(). S receives about 0.02 ETH and W receives nothing.
      • Fix: lock in the failsafe winner as the last qualifying buyer at or before the stale frontier.

    What I checked that holds

    • Fees: exact-input, exact-output and partial-fill buys all charge 2% of the ETH actually spent, and unused reservations go back through owed. Sells pay nothing and don't read the core.
    • Accounting: hook ETH plus claims always equals pot plus owed.
    • Paying fees with little ETH in the pool manager: when it can't pay a fee out, the hook mints a claim instead and redeems it later.
    • Nap settlement: naps settle in order, a long zero-work run pays once, and the pot splits correctly at round s.
    • Other entry points: withdrawOwed, redeemClaims and unlockCallback behave as intended. NapToken is an unmodified OpenZeppelin ERC-20.
    • Manifest: launch.json constructor arguments and permissions match the code, and the 12500 fee tier is accepted.

    Leads that didn't hold

    • Returndata bomb: I tested whether a winner wallet (an EOA with EIP-7702 delegated code) could permanently block settleNaps with a returndata bomb. The test passed at 60M gas, so it's not reported.
    • Partial-fill refunds to tx.origin: these refunds go to tx.origin, not the router that paid. I left this out because the impact is low.
    • Live core not verified: I couldn't check the core's round numbering on Sepolia, because this machine has no Sepolia RPC endpoint.

    • mediumfailsafe() pays a certified but unclaimed nap's pot to the latest buyer, so the nap winner's ETH goes to the wrong playersrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:334

Seam: execution x periphery x first principles (Flow Gap); invariant: rule 4 says the pot collected from buys before round s goes to the winner of the nap that begins at s. failsafe() pays the whole pot() (cumulativeFees - cumulativePaid) to latestBuyer. It does not first settle naps the core has already certified (rounds scanRound..lastSeenFrontier are never scanned).

If the core certifies a nap and then stops advancing (the brief notes the older core stopped settling on 2026-10-26), and nobody calls settleNaps within 7 days, any caller can send the nap winner's share to whoever bought last. Once that happens settleNaps still finds the nap, but _settleNap sees cumulative <= cumulativePaid and pays 0. The loss is the full pot owed to that nap winner.

Fix: have failsafe refuse to run while scanRound <= lastSeenFrontier, or run the settle scan up to the frontier first, so only fees not owed to a certified nap go to the failsafe winner.

Real v4 PoolManager with a stand-in core at CORE.

Round 651: W buys 1 ETH exact-input, so the fee is 0.02 ETH and W is latestBuyer.

      Round 651 had work.

Round 653: L buys 0.001 ETH, a qualifying buy during the nap that counts for the next game.

Round 655: the core sets frontier 654, so rounds 652-654 are zero-work and the nap at 652 is certified.

The core then stalls, and L's buy lets the hook observe frontier 654. winnerBefore(652) returns (W, 0.02 ether).

After 7 days and 1 second, anyone calls failsafe(), and L is paid 0.0200x ETH.

Then settleNaps(1) settles the nap at 652 with amount 0.

      Expected: W (balance + owed) = 0.02 ETH.

      Actual: 0.

The proof test fails with 'nap winner lost the pot: 0 != 20000000000000000'.

    • mediumfailsafe() picks the winner when called, so a 0.001 ETH buy placed ahead of the last buyer's failsafe call takes the whole potsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:332

Economic Security: a legitimate feature turned against users. Rule 5 gives the pot to the last qualifying buyer once the frontier has been still for 7 days. failsafe() reads latestBuyer when it is called, and buys keep updating latestBuyer while the core is stale. So the moment the failsafe opens, the pot goes to whoever lands a qualifying buy first.

Someone can buy 0.001 ETH and call failsafe in the same transaction, or buy in front of the real last buyer's failsafe() transaction. In the second case the last buyer's own call pays the attacker, because the hook pays latestBuyer whoever triggers it.

Profit: the whole pot P, at the cost of a 0.001 ETH buy (2% hook fee plus 1.25% LP fee, and the NAP bought can be sold back).

Fix: fix the failsafe winner when the core goes stale, for example as the last qualifying buyer whose buy round is <= lastSeenFrontier + 1 (found through _stateBefore), or refuse to change latestBuyer for buys made after failsafeOpensAt(). Pay only fees up to that buy, and leave later fees in the pot.

Round 651: W buys 1 ETH, so the pot is 0.02 ETH and W is latestBuyer.

      Round 651 had work.

The core frontier stays at 649 and never advances.

      After 7 days and 1 second, sniper S buys 0.001 ETH exact-input (tx.origin = S), which makes S latestBuyer.

W then calls failsafe() and the pot of about 0.02002 ETH goes to S.

Expected: W, the last qualifying buyer when the failsafe opened, receives at least 0.02 ETH.

      Actual: W receives 0.

The proof test fails with 'last buyer before the stall did not get the pot: 0 < 20000000000000000'.

  8. Audit flowAgent #1067found 1 high, 1 medium

I found two defects in the hook, both reproduced with Foundry tests. They're in .imd-findings.json with a coverage row for each of the 19 entry points plus two invariant rows. No source files were changed. The scratch tests are deleted, and git status shows a clean tree.

    1. High: one winner can freeze the game and the whole pot for good (src/HamsterNapHook.sol:542) The payout (bool ok,) = winner.call{value: amount}("") passes on all remaining gas and copies back whatever data the winner's wallet returns. The winner is the transaction's sender wallet. On Sepolia a normal wallet can carry code through an EIP-7702 delegation, so that code can answer the payment with a huge revert message sized to the gas it was given. Copying that message runs the hook out of memory gas (MemoryOOG), so it never reaches the branch that sets the money aside for the winner to withdraw later.

    • Naps are settled strictly in order, so this nap and every later one is stuck.
    • The failsafe can't help: it stays shut while the core keeps settling rounds.
    • The cost to an attacker is one 0.001 ETH buy, timed to be the last before a nap.

The attached proof test fails on the current code with settleNaps limited to 30M gas and to 60M (Sepolia's block limit). It passes once the payout caps its gas and stops copying return data.

    2. Medium: the failsafe can pay a claimed-but-unpaid nap's pot to the wrong person (src/HamsterNapHook.sol:332) failsafe() pays the whole pot to the latest buyer without first settling naps the core has already confirmed. In the repro, the core confirms a nap won by Alice, Bob buys afterwards, and then the core stops. If nobody calls settleNaps for 7 days, failsafe pays Bob 0.04 ETH, which includes Alice's 0.02 ETH. The later settleNaps then pays Alice 0.

    Coverage

    • Settle and failsafe: I traced paging across calls, zero-work runs that span pages, the round boundary, and how the code reads roundPage (checked against the captured Sepolia pages).
    • Buy fee: I traced exact-input and exact-output buys, including partial fills, and that the hook's balance changes net to zero in each swap.
    • Other entry points:
      • The callbacks the hook doesn't enable are never called by the pool manager.
      • receive, unlockCallback, redeemClaims and withdrawOwed hold.
      • The token is unmodified OpenZeppelin ERC20.
      • launch.json's constructor arguments, permissions and 1.25% fee match the code.
    • Rejected leads: I reproduced the static-analysis reentrancy and strict-equality warnings and found them harmless: a winner calling back in is either blocked or only adds buys in rounds not yet settled.
    • Not followed up: a proxy upgrade that changes the length of state()'s return. It would require the core's owner to change it, so I couldn't give a concrete failing input.

    • highA winner whose wallet answers the payout with a huge revert/return payload makes settleNaps (and failsafe) revert for any gas, freezing the pot and every later napsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:542

_pay sends the prize with (bool ok,) = winner.call{value: amount}(""), forwarding all gas and letting Solidity copy the callee's full returndata into the hook's memory. The winner is tx.origin, and on Sepolia (Pectra/EIP-7702 live) an EOA can carry delegated code.

If that code reverts (or returns) with a payload sized to the gas it received (~63/64 of the call's gas), the hook needs the same quadratic memory-expansion cost to copy it but only holds the 1/64 retained plus whatever the callee did not use, so the hook dies with MemoryOOG instead of taking the !ok branch that credits owed. More gas does not help: the payload scales with the gas forwarded.

Because naps are scanned strictly in order and scanRound is only written after the loop, the nap whose winner is the bomb can never be settled, every later nap is stuck behind it, and failsafe stays closed while the core keeps advancing (and would hit the same _pay with the same winner if latestBuyer is still the bomb). This breaks rule 4 (a winner that cannot receive ETH must not block the game) and freezes the whole pot permanently.

Cost to the attacker: one buy of >= 0.001 ETH as the last qualifying buyer before a nap. The attacker can also undo the delegation later, so the freeze can be held for ransom.

Fix: make the payout call with a gas cap and without copying returndata (assembly call with out size 0, or an ExcessivelySafeCall-style helper), or switch settlement to pull-based credits.

Fresh PoolManager, hook mined onto its flags, SqueekCore stand-in at 0x980B…3d44 with frontier 649 and every round worked.

      Warp to round 650 + 17s, add 100e18 full-range liquidity.

EOA bomber with ReturnBomb code (stand-in for an EIP-7702 delegation whose receive() runs revert(0, n*32) with n = sqrt(512 * 0.9 * gas())) buys 0.1 ETH exact input with tx.origin = bomber, so latestBuyer = bomber and pot = 0.002 ETH.

Core marks rounds 651..653 zero-work and sets the frontier to 653; warp to round 655.

Call hook.settleNaps(1) with 30,000,000 gas and again with 60,000,000 (Sepolia block limit).

Expected: the nap at 651 settles, napsSettled = 1, and the bomber's 0.002 ETH is paid or credited to owed[bomber].

Actual: both calls revert with MemoryOOG inside HamsterNapHook._pay after NapSettled is emitted, so napsSettled stays 0, scanRound stays 650 and the pot can never leave the hook. test/scratch/ReturnBomb.t.sol fails with 'settleNaps cannot complete: a winner's return data blocks the game'.

    • mediumfailsafe pays the latest buyer the whole pot, including fees already won by a nap that was certified but not yet claimedsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:332

failsafe pays pot() (all fees minus payouts) to latestBuyer without first settling naps the core has already certified up to lastSeenFrontier. When the core certifies a nap and then stops advancing, the fees collected before that nap belong to its winner (rule 4), but after 7 days anyone can call failsafe and route them to whoever bought last, even if that buy happened after the nap. The later settleNaps then finds cumulative <= cumulativePaid and pays the real winner 0.

Rule 5 only meant the failsafe to cover a dead core, not to override a nap the core already certified.

Fix: in failsafe, scan and settle certified naps through lastSeenFrontier (or require scanRound > lastSeenFrontier) before paying the remainder.

Using the repo's HookTestBase (fresh manager, both-sided liquidity): workThrough(1,649); alice buys 1 ETH in round 650 (fee 0.02 ETH); workThrough(650,650); sleepThrough(651,653), so the core certifies a nap starting at 651 whose winner is alice; warp to round 654 and bob buys 1 ETH (fee 0.02 ETH; afterSwap observes frontier 653).

The core stalls at 653 and nobody calls settleNaps.

      Warp +7 days +1s; carol calls hook.failsafe().

Expected: alice gets the 0.02 ETH collected before round 651, and the failsafe pays bob only the 0.02 ETH from after it.

Actual: bob receives 0.04 ETH; then settleNaps(4) settles the nap at 651 (napsSettled = 1) with NapSettled(651, alice, 0) and alice receives 0.

    Outcome

    • One high finding in src/HamsterNapHook.sol:542. The winner payout call copies the callee's return data after the call, with only the 1/64 of gas EIP-150 keeps back. A winner whose receive() returns a payload sized to its own gas makes the hook frame die with MemoryOOG at any gas budget. Measured with a 30M gas budget: the winner's receive ran 23.8M gas and returned, then settleNaps reverted. Since nothing is marked settled, every retry fails the same way, so no later nap can be settled and every later game's pot is locked. The failsafe does not help because the core keeps advancing. It takes one 0.001 ETH buy to become the winner, and EIP-7702 makes a code-carrying tx.origin realistic on Sepolia. The plain gas-burn variant is weaker: it fails at 1M gas but passes at 30M. Proof test is at test/scratch/ReturnBombWinner.t.sol and fails on this tree. Fix: a bounded-gas assembly call that discards return data, falling back to the owed credit.
    • One info note on fee rounding down (49 wei buy pays no fee, under 1 wei per swap otherwise). No exploitable path.

What held in my area (Math Precision, Boundary, Numerical Gap)

    • Fee math for exact-input full and partial fills and exact-output buys, traced with concrete values against v4's Hooks library delta plumbing. The reservation can never exceed the specified input, the cap handles the one-wei rounding case, and the two formulas agree on the same gross.
    • The round and page arithmetic, verified against the live Sepolia core at block 12030725: 1-based rounds, start-exclusive pages, and a zero-record page returning certifiedThroughRound == throughRound, so the scan loop cannot stall.
    • The ETH backing invariant, claim redemption solvency, the failsafe clock, and the manifest's constructor and permission entries.

Coverage has rows for all 19 entry points plus three invariant rows, with one row marked finding and none unreached.

    • highA winner whose receive() returns a large payload makes every settleNaps call run out of gas after the payout, so no later nap can ever be settledsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:542

Boundary: the external payout call in _pay (src/HamsterNapHook.sol:540-548), reached from settleNaps -> _settleNap and from failsafe. Assumption (README rule 6, workflow rule 4): a winner that cannot receive ETH is credited in owed and never blocks the game; the code therefore forwards all gas and only inspects the success flag.

Actual: Solidity compiles (bool ok,) = winner.call{value: amount}("") with a returndatacopy of whatever the callee returns, after the call has returned. Under EIP-150 the callee receives 63/64 of the remaining gas and the hook keeps 1/64.

A winner whose receive() succeeds but returns a payload sized to its own gas (memory expansion costs 3w + w^2/512 for w words, so about sqrt(512G) words for G gas) leaves the hook with 1/64 of G to copy a region that costs about 0.8G: the hook frame ends with MemoryOOG and settleNaps reverts, for any gas budget the settler chooses, because the bomb scales with the budget.

Measured: settleNaps{gas: 30_000_000}(1) -> receive() consumed 23,861,661 gas and returned, hook frame ended [MemoryOOG], settleNaps reverted (trace in the proof test).

The nap is never marked settled (napsSettled, cumulativePaid, scanRound are all rolled back), so every later settleNaps call re-runs the same payout and fails the same way: no nap after this one can be settled, the pot of every later game is locked in the hook, and the failsafe does not open while the core keeps settling rounds (its clock restarts on every advance).

The attacker only needs to be the last qualifying buyer before a nap (one 0.001 ETH buy) and can hold the game to ransom by keeping the bomb on until paid. The buyer is tx.origin; with EIP-7702 (live on Sepolia and mainnet) an EOA can carry delegated code with such a receive(), so this is reachable in production, not only under vm.prank.

A plain gas-burning winner (receive with an infinite loop) is the weaker variant: it fails settleNaps at 1,000,000 gas but passes at 30,000,000 (measured), so it only forces a large gas budget.

Fix: perform the payout with a bounded gas stipend and no return-data copy, e.g. assembly ok := call(PAYOUT_GAS, winner, amount, 0, 0, 0, 0) with PAYOUT_GAS such as 50_000, or fall back to the owed credit whenever the call fails; the same fix in withdrawOwed's call is optional since the caller only harms themself there.

      State: pool seeded, round 650.

      (1) tx.origin = B, a contract (or 7702-delegated EOA) whose receive() returns ~sqrt(512*gasleft()*0.8) words; B buys 1 ether exact-input -> latestBuyer = B, pot = 0.02 ether.

      (2) Core: round 650 had work, rounds 651..653 zero work, settledThroughRound = 653; warp to round 654.

      (3) Anyone calls settleNaps{gas: 30_000_000}(1).

      Expected: NapSettled(651, B, 0.02 ether), B's payout deferred into owed[B] = 0.02 ether, napsSettled = 1, scanRound = 654.

Actual: receive() returns after 23,861,661 gas, the hook frame reverts with MemoryOOG copying the return data, settleNaps reverts; napsSettled stays 0 and scanRound stays 650; every retry at any gas budget fails the same way.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ReturnBombWinner.t.sol (fails on this tree with EvmError: Revert inside HamsterNapHook.settleNaps).

    • infoGame fee rounds down toward the buyer: buys below 50 wei pay no fee and every buy underpays by under 1 weisrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:439

Math precision: both fee formulas truncate (gross200/10000 at line 439; poolEth200/9800 at line 445), so the fee rounds in the buyer's favour.

Concrete: an exact-input buy of 49 wei gives _feeOnGross(49) = 9800/10000 = 0, beforeSwap returns a zero delta and afterSwap records nothing; a 10049 wei buy pays 200 wei (1.99%) instead of 201. The leak is strictly below 1 wei per swap and a sub-50-wei buy cannot qualify (threshold 0.001 ether), so there is no exploitable path; the repository's test_tinyBuyWithZeroFeeIsNotRecorded treats this as intended.

Recorded for completeness since the Math Precision guide asks that fees round up; changing to a round-up (e.g. (gross*200 + 9999)/10000) would be a design choice, not a required fix.

Exact-input buy with amountSpecified = -49 on the bound pool: beforeSwap returns BeforeSwapDelta zero (fee 0), afterSwap: fee 0, gross 49, qualifying false, no BuyRecord, cumulativeFees unchanged.

Expected under round-up: fee 1 wei.

      Actual: fee 0.

      Exact-output buy whose pool ETH is 9849 wei: fee = 9849*200/9800 = 200 (truncated from 200.99).

The review is complete. .imd-findings.json holds 5 findings and a 21-row coverage record; no repository file was changed, and the scratch tests were removed.

What the specialists reported, and what I kept

The nine specialist findings collapse into five. Every one reproduced against the code.

    • High, settleNaps return bomb (merged from three specialists). The payout at src/HamsterNapHook.sol:542 forwards all gas and copies the winner's return data. A winner whose wallet carries EIP-7702 code can return a payload sized to its gas, so the hook frame dies in MemoryOOG at 30M and 60M gas. The trace shows NapSettled emitted, then MemoryOOG. The nap is never marked settled, so every later nap and its pot is frozen for as long as the attacker keeps the delegation. Proof attached (the audit_flow test).
    • Medium, failsafe pays a certified but unsettled nap's share to the latest buyer (merged from three specialists). The failsafe pays pot() without checking that the scan reached the frontier. The nap's winner later settles for 0. Proof attached.
    • Low, failsafe sniping. A 0.001 ETH buy after the failsafe opens takes the whole pot, and can be placed ahead of the real last buyer's own call. Downgraded from medium because workflow rule 5 literally names "the last qualifying buyer" with no cutoff, so this is a design weakness in the rule as implemented, not a deviation from it. Reproduced in a scratch test.
    • Low, partial-fill refund credited to tx.origin rather than the payer. Reproduced: a swap with msg.sender alice and tx.origin bob credited bob all of the unused reservation.
    • Info, fee truncates toward the buyer. Below one wei per swap, acknowledged by the project's own test.

My own pass found nothing further. Reentrancy through a buy during payout is benign (checked with a scratch test, backing invariant held). The manifest matches the constructor, permissions (flags 0x20CC), fee tier and token. Exported ABIs match the compiled ones. Bytecode is well under the size limits. The deployment model is satisfied: the hook is the mined-salt contract, the token takes no arguments. The project's suite passes at 87 tests.

Coverage. All 19 entry points are answered: 16 hold, settleNaps, failsafe and afterSwap carry findings 1, 2 and 4. Two extra rows record the ETH backing invariant and the manifest check.

    • highA winner whose wallet answers the payout with a gas-sized return or revert payload makes settleNaps (and failsafe) revert at any gas, freezing every later nap's potsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:542

Merged from audit_permissions 4173fd28, audit_flow cdb1e53d and audit_math 6962ece7 (same root cause). _pay forwards all remaining gas to the winner and the compiled code copies the callee's full return data into the hook's memory after the call, whether it succeeded or reverted. The winner is tx.origin; on Sepolia and mainnet (Pectra, EIP-7702) an EOA can carry delegated code, so a winner can run arbitrary code on receipt.

A payload sized to the gas the callee received (about sqrt(512*G) words for G gas, 63/64 of the hook's) costs the hook roughly the same quadratic memory-expansion gas to copy with only the 1/64 it kept, so the hook frame ends in MemoryOOG and the !ok branch that credits owed is never reached.

Raising the gas limit does not help because the payload scales with it. settleNaps writes scanRound, napsSettled and cumulativePaid only after the loop, so the nap is never marked settled, every retry re-runs the same payout, and no nap after it can ever be settled (naps are claimed strictly in order). failsafe pays through the same _pay and, while the core keeps advancing, never opens anyway.

Cost to the attacker: one qualifying buy (>= 0.001 ETH) as the last buyer before a nap; the delegation can be removed later to collect, so every later game's pot is held hostage. Breaks workflow rule 4 ('a winner that cannot receive ETH must not block the game') and README rule 6.

Reproduced: trace of the attached proof shows emit NapSettled(651, winner, 2e16) followed by [MemoryOOG] in HamsterNapHook::settleNaps at both 30M and 60M gas.

Fix: make the payout with a bounded gas stipend and no return-data copy (assembly call(gasCap, winner, amount, 0, 0, 0, 0)), crediting owed whenever it fails; the same for the failsafe path.

      B buys 0.1 ETH exact input with tx.origin = B: latestBuyer = B, pot = 0.002 ETH.

Core marks rounds 651..653 zero-work and sets frontier 653; warp to round 655.

Call hook.settleNaps(1) with 30,000,000 gas and again with 60,000,000 gas.

Expected: the nap at 651 settles, napsSettled = 1, pot = 0, B paid or credited in owed[B] with PayoutDeferred.

Actual: both calls revert (MemoryOOG inside settleNaps after NapSettled is emitted); napsSettled stays 0, scanRound stays 650, pot stays 0.002 ETH, and every later nap is blocked behind this one.

    • mediumfailsafe pays the whole pot, including a certified but not yet settled nap's share, to the current latestBuyer, so that nap's winner gets nothingsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:334

Merged from audit_permissions 5a4856b2, audit_flow e87ee08c and audit_economics de7eef7e (same root cause). failsafe() never checks that the nap scan has reached lastSeenFrontier: it pays pot() = cumulativeFees - cumulativePaid to latestBuyer.

When the core certifies a nap starting at s (zero-work rounds s..s+2 inside the frozen frontier) and then stalls for 7 days without anyone calling settleNaps, the fees collected before s, which workflow rule 4 assigns to the last qualifying buyer before s, are paid to whoever bought last, possibly after the nap. A later settleNaps still finds the nap but _settleNap sees cumulative <= cumulativePaid and emits NapSettled(s, winner, 0).

Any later buyer has an incentive to stay silent for the 7 days and call failsafe the moment it opens.

Fix: in failsafe, first settle every nap through lastSeenFrontier (or revert while scanRound <= lastSeenFrontier and roundPage is readable), and pay only what is left.

Fresh PoolManager, hook mined onto its flags, zero-work core stand-in at the CORE address with frontier 649, round 650 worked, 100e18 full-range liquidity.

Round 650: alice buys 1 ETH exact input (fee 0.02 ETH, latestBuyer = alice).

Core sets frontier 653 (651..653 zero work: nap at 651, alice is its winner).

Warp to round 660: bob buys 0.05 ETH (fee 0.001 ETH, latestBuyer = bob; the buy observes frontier 653).

      Core stalls; nobody calls settleNaps.

Warp +7 days +1 s; anyone calls failsafe(), then settleNaps(1).

Expected: alice receives 0.02 ETH for the certified nap at 651 and the failsafe pays bob only the 0.001 ETH collected after it.

      Actual: failsafe pays bob 0.021 ETH; settleNaps settles nap 651 with NapSettled(651, alice, 0); alice.balance == 0.

The attached proof fails with 'certified nap winner robbed by failsafe: 0 != 20000000000000000'.

    • lowfailsafe pays whoever is latestBuyer at call time, so a 0.001 ETH buy placed after the failsafe opens (or ahead of the real last buyer's failsafe transaction) takes the whole potsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:332

From audit_economics dbf651c4, kept at low. latestBuyer keeps updating on every qualifying buy while the core is stale, and failsafe reads it when called. So once failsafeOpensAt() passes, the pot goes to whoever lands a qualifying buy last before the failsafe call: a buy-then-failsafe in one transaction, or a buy sandwiched in front of the real last buyer's own failsafe() call, which then pays the attacker because the hook pays latestBuyer whoever triggers it.

Cost: one 0.001 ETH buy (0.00002 ETH hook fee plus the LP fee; the NAP can be sold back). Severity is low rather than medium because workflow rule 5 literally says 'the last qualifying buyer can take the pot' with no cutoff, and the code honours that wording; the defect is that the rule as implemented makes the failsafe a first-come race for a trivial stake instead of a payout to the buyer who was last when the core went stale.

If the requester wants the latter, fix the failsafe winner at the stall (for example the last qualifying buyer whose buy round is <= lastSeenFrontier + 1, via _stateBefore) and leave later fees in the pot.

HookTestBase scenario: rounds 1..650 worked, frontier 650.

Round 650: alice buys 1 ETH (fee 0.02 ETH) and a 0.001 ETH buy so the hook observes frontier 650.

      Core never advances.

Warp to failsafeOpensAt() + 1. dave buys 0.001 ETH exact input (tx.origin = dave): latestBuyer = dave. alice calls failsafe().

Expected (intent of rule 5): alice, the last qualifying buyer when the core went stale, receives about 0.02002 ETH.

Actual (measured in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol test_sniperTakesFailsafePot): dave receives 0.02004 ETH, alice receives 0.

    • lowThe unused part of an exact-input fee reservation is credited to tx.origin, not to the account that paid the ETHsrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:256

From audit_permissions 4212f194. On a partial exact-input fill the hook keeps 2% of the executed gross and credits the rest of the 2% reservation to owed[buyer] where buyer = tx.origin (line 236). The ETH was settled with the PoolManager by the router (msg.sender of the swap) on behalf of its caller.

Workflow rule 8 makes tx.origin the buyer for the latest-buyer identity, but the refund is the payer's own ETH. With an ERC-4337 smart account or any relayed buy, tx.origin is the bundler or relayer, which can withdraw ETH it never paid through withdrawOwed() while the real payer loses it.

Low: the amount is at most 2% of the unfilled input and the brief's tx.origin rule makes the same mismatch inherent to the latest-buyer identity; the author should at least document it, or route the refund to the swap's sender when they differ.

HookTestBase, 100e18 full-range liquidity. vm.prank(alice, bob) then swapper.swapWithLimit(key, true, -1 ether, limit) with limit = 99.99% of the current sqrt price (msg.sender alice, tx.origin bob; the router pays the ETH).

Expected: the unused reservation is credited to the payer side (alice or the router).

      Actual (measured in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol test_refundGoesToOrigin): owed[bob] = 19793314386979902 wei, owed[alice] = 0; bob can call withdrawOwed() and receive it.

    • infoThe game fee truncates toward the buyer: buys below 50 wei pay no fee, every buy underpays by under 1 weisrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:439

From audit_math 528a5029. Both fee formulas (gross200/10000 at line 439 and poolEth200/9800 at line 445) round down. A 49 wei exact-input buy pays 0 fee and is not recorded; a 10049 wei buy pays 200 wei instead of 201.

The leak is below 1 wei per swap and a sub-50-wei buy cannot qualify, so nothing is exploitable; the repository's test_tinyBuyWithZeroFeeIsNotRecorded treats it as intended. Recorded for completeness only.

Exact-input buy of 49 wei: cumulativeFees stays 0 and buyCount stays 0.

      Exact-input buy of 10049 wei: cumulativeFees becomes 200 (1.99%), not 201.

      Measured in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol test_feeRounding.

    • Return-bomb payout (high). The payout used a plain value call that forwards all gas and copies the callee's return data, so a winner wallet with EIP-7702 code could make every claim run out of memory gas. Payouts now use a bounded, copy-free assembly call with a 100,000 gas stipend and credit the winner in owed on any failure. Both naps settle in the regression test at 30M gas, and the deferred winner later withdraws.
    • Failsafe swept a certified nap's pot (medium). The scan loop moved into a shared routine. The failsafe now settles every nap the core certified before stalling, each to its own winner, then pays only what is left. Past 8 unscanned pages it reverts with NapsUnsettled so claims catch up first. When the core's pages cannot be read at all, nothing can be certified and the whole pot goes to the failsafe winner, preserving the exit for a dead core.
    • Failsafe sniping (low, judged real). Buy records now carry a timestamp and the failsafe pays the last qualifying buyer before the moment it opened, not whoever bought last before the call. Later buys still pay fees into that pot and still count for naps if the core proves alive. A failsafeWinner() view exposes it.
    • Refund to tx.origin and fee rounding (low, info). Kept by design and documented in the README. Both are answered as disputed with the reasoning.

    Verification

    CheckResult
Reviewer proofs (copied under test/scratch)both fail on the starting tree, both pass now
forge test with the verifier's fuzz seed76 own tests pass, 9 of them new
Protected floor tests with built creation code12 pass, 2 skipped by design
    forge build, forge fmt --checkpass

Also updated: docs/abi/HamsterNapHook.json regenerated for the new struct field, errors and view; README rules 5 to 7, assumptions, operational notes and a revision summary; .imd-responses.json answers all five findings. One trade-off worth the reviewer's eye: a wallet whose receive needs more than the 100k stipend is credited rather than paid, and collects through withdrawOwed, which still forwards all gas.

  12. TestsAgent #3774 files changedsent back

The suite passes, and I'm reporting one medium defect in .imd-findings.json instead of writing a test that treats it as correct.

Why tests failed. After my last round, the implementation changed:

    • Core read failures in settleNaps now revert with CoreUnreadable.
    • failsafe() now pays every nap the core already certified to that nap's own winner before paying anything else. If more than 8 pages (128 rounds) are still unscanned, it reverts with NapsUnsettled.
    • The failsafe now pays the last qualifying buyer before the failsafe opened, not the latest buyer.

Three of my tests still expected the old behaviour, so they failed.

    What changed in test/:

    • test/independent/NapSequenceHandler.sol: the invariant model now follows the new failsafe. It works through the certified backlog itself, expects NapsUnsettled with the exact scan position when the backlog is too long, and pays each certified nap to its own winner (undone if the call then reverts NothingToPay). It then expects the rest to go to the last qualifying buyer strictly before the opening second, and expects CoreUnreadable when the core can't be read.
    • test/HamsterNapHook.invariant.t.sol: a new fixed-sequence test confirms the random runs can reach two cases: a failsafe that settles a certified nap first, and a NapsUnsettled refusal over a 160-round backlog that settleNaps then clears.
    • test/HamsterNapHook.independent.t.sol:
      • The rollback test now expects CoreUnreadable.
      • New test: when the first page of the backlog can be read and the second can't, the certified nap goes to its own winner and the rest to the failsafe winner. A later recovery pays nothing twice.
      • New fuzz test (512 runs): at the second the failsafe opens, a buy one second earlier counts and a buy at or after it wins nothing.
    • test/INDEPENDENT_TESTS.md: updated to match.

Finding (medium), src/HamsterNapHook.sol:335: when the core is dead, the failsafe's opening moment never moves, so the winner never changes. This breaks rule 5 ("the last qualifying buyer can take the pot") in two ways:

    1. After one failsafe payout to alice, bob buys 1 ETH and becomes the latest buyer. Seven days later the failsafe pays alice again and bob gets nothing.
    2. If only a dust buy came before the opening, failsafe() reverts NoQualifyingBuyer for as long as the core is dead. Every later fee, such as bob's 0.02 ETH, is locked in the hook.

The README calls this an anti-sniping choice. That reasoning covers the race for the first pot, but not these two cases. The finding includes a self-contained proof test. I ran it, and both tests fail on the current code for those reasons.

Checks I ran, with the given FOUNDRY_FUZZ_SEED and SEPOLIA_RPC_URL set:

    • forge build succeeded.
    • forge test passed 105 of 105, none failed or skipped. That includes the 5 fork tests at Sepolia block 12030457, and both 256-run × 96-call invariant runs with 0 reverts.
    • git status: only the four test/ files above changed. The findings file sits in the repo root as the task asks, and git ignores it.

    • mediumFailsafe winner is frozen at the first opening: with a dead core later qualifying buyers' fees go to a stale buyer, or are locked foreversrc/HamsterNapHook.sol:335

Rule 5 of the approved workflow: "Failsafe: if the core's settledThroughRound has not advanced for 7 days, the last qualifying buyer can take the pot." failsafe() instead pays the last qualifying buyer whose buy happened before failsafeOpensAt(). With a dead core, frontierSeenAt never moves, so staleAt is fixed for ever. Two consequences follow.

      1. Once the failsafe has paid X, every later buy still pays 2% into the pot, and every later failsafe() call pays that pot to X again, never to the buyer who is actually the last qualifying buyer (latestBuyer). Fees are paid to the wrong party for the rest of the game.
      2. If no qualifying buy happened before the failsafe opened (the game was started by a sell or dust buys), failsafe() reverts NoQualifyingBuyer for ever, and every fee paid by later qualifying buyers is locked in the hook with no exit. The README states the choice to fix the winner at the opening as an anti-sniping measure. That reasoning covers a race for the first stale pot. It does not explain why fees paid after a failsafe payout, or after an opening with no eligible buyer, can never reach any buyer who paid them.

Dead core (every read reverts; vm.etch(CORE, 0x5f5ffd)), Sepolia chain id, full-range liquidity.

Case 1: alice buys 1 ETH in round 650; warp to failsafeOpensAt(); failsafe() pays alice 0.02 ETH.

Warp +1 day, bob buys 1 ETH (latestBuyer == bob).

Warp +7 days +1, carol calls failsafe().

Expected (rule 5): bob receives 0.02 ETH.

Actual: alice receives a second 0.02 ETH and bob gets 0.

Case 2: alice buys 0.0005 ETH (dust, fee 0.00001 ETH); warp to failsafeOpensAt()+1; bob buys 1 ETH; warp +7 days +1; failsafe().

      Expected: bob receives 0.02001 ETH.

Actual: it reverts NoQualifyingBuyer(), now and at every later time while the core is dead.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/FailsafeStaleWinner.t.sol (both tests fail for these reasons).

A fix that lets the window reopen after a payout, or counts a qualifying buyer after the opening once 7 more days pass without any newer buy, makes both pass.

  13. HookAgent #15014 files changed

Revision done, with one caveat up front: I could not run forge build, forge test or forge fmt --check in this session. Every shell command, including a bare true, was refused by the Bash sandbox before it started:

apply-seccomp: write /proc/self/setgroups (nested userns is capability-restricted; caller must provide CAP_SYS_ADMIN): Permission denied

The code changes were therefore checked by hand against the reviewer's proof and the existing tests, not by a compiler. The README test count (78) is also unverified.

What reproduced and what I changed

Only the first required finding reproduced on the starting tree. The other two required findings were already fixed in the previous revision and their proofs passed on the starting tree, as the brief records.

    • Frozen failsafe winner (50bf52…): failsafe() chose the winner as the last buy before failsafeOpensAt() and paid the whole pot. With a dead core that moment never moves, so the first winner took every later fee, or a dust-only opening locked them forever. The failsafe now uses a rolling cutoff, the later of the opening and seven days ago, exposed as failsafeCutoff(). It pays the fees collected through the winner's last buy before the cutoff, not the whole pot. Later fees wait and go, seven days after the buy that paid them, to the buyer who was last at that time. A buy placed in front of the failsafe call still wins nothing. Both cases in the reviewer's proof pass by hand trace. failsafeWinner() reports the same winner and amount.
    • Tests in test/HamsterNapHook.t.sol: two new regression tests (a later qualifying buyer paid after an earlier payout with the first winner not paid again, and a dust-only opening paying the first later qualifying buyer), and the existing anti-sniping test updated to the new amounts and extended with the late fees reaching their own buyers a week later. All other failsafe tests keep their expected amounts under the new rule.
    • Docs: README rule 7, the assumptions, an operational note for a core that never returns, the revision history, and docs/abi/HamsterNapHook.json gained the new view.

Responses are in .imd-responses.json: 50bf52 fixed; c10bd15 and 520445 fixed (carried from the previous revision, proofs passed); the sniping advisory fixed (property kept by the rolling cutoff); the tx.origin refund and fee rounding advisories disputed as documented choices, unchanged.

Next: the verifier's forge build, forge test with the given fuzz seed, forge fmt --check and the proof run are the first real compilation of these edits. If the shell works in a later run, running those three commands is the only outstanding step.

  14. TestsAgent #5284 files changed

I've checked the author's fix for the failsafe finding, and it holds. I updated my tests to the new behaviour, and the full suite passes: forge test with the verifier's fuzz seed ran 111 tests, all passed, none skipped. The 5 fork tests reached Sepolia through SEPOLIA_RPC_URL at block 12030457 and passed.

The fix: the failsafe's cutoff (the moment a buy must come before to count) now moves forward: it is the later of when the failsafe opened and seven days ago. It pays only the fees up to the winner's last buy before that cutoff, not the whole pot. Both cases from my reproduction now behave as rule 5 requires:

    • Case 1: alice is paid at the opening. Bob buys later and is paid his own fee once his buy is more than seven days old. Alice is not paid again.
    • Case 2: a game started only by a dust buy refuses with NoQualifyingBuyer until bob's qualifying buy is more than seven days old. Then bob gets the whole pot, dust fee included.
    • Sniping: a buy placed just ahead of the failsafe() call still wins nothing.

What I changed (all under test/):

    • Two tests had failed because they still modelled the old cutoff, fixed at the opening: testFuzz_failsafeWinnerBoundary and the failsafe step of the invariant campaign that includes failsafes. Both now model the moving cutoff.
    • testFuzz_failsafeWinnerBoundary now also checks the late buyer's seven-day boundary to the second: at exactly 7 days failsafe() reverts NothingToPay, and at 7 days + 1 second the late buyer gets their own fee and nobody is paid twice.
    • Two new tests: test_failsafeOpenedByDustPaysLaterQualifyingBuyerAfterSevenDays and test_failsafeDustFeeAfterPayoutReachesLastQualifyingBuyer.
    • Invariant handler: a new action, takeFailsafeAfterExtraWait, calls the failsafe up to 10 days after it opens, so the random sequences now reach the later payouts. A new fixed-sequence test, test_handlerReachesRollingFailsafeCutoffWithDeadCore, shows a second payout to a later buyer is reachable.
    • test/INDEPENDENT_TESTS.md now marks this finding as settled.

I found no new defects this round, so there is no .imd-findings.json. Nothing is committed.

    #1365Claude1 file changed

The manifest is updated and verified. Only launch.json changed.

    What was done

    • The previous rejection was an API runtime error, not a finding, so the accepted manifest was re-checked against the current tree rather than rewritten.
    • Hook constructor arguments stay "$poolManager", "$factory", matching the two-parameter constructor in declaration order and the ABI at docs/abi/HamsterNapHook.json.
    • Permissions stay beforeInitialize, beforeSwap, afterSwap, beforeSwapReturnDelta and afterSwapReturnDelta. A script compared them against getHookPermissions in the source and they match exactly.
    • Token is NapToken, "Hamster Nap", NAP, 18 decimals, no constructor arguments. Pool fields are the launch facts: zero-address paired currency, fee 12500, tickSpacing 60, the given initialPrice.
    • The notes were the only stale part. The hook source was revised by the source contributor after the manifest was last written, changing the failsafe. The notes now describe the accepted behaviour: bounded payout gas, CoreUnreadable on settleNaps, the failsafe settling certified naps first, its cutoff rule and the NapsUnsettled backlog refusal. Notes are 2096 characters, under the 4000 cap.

    Checks

    • Full Foundry suite with the verifier's fuzz seed: 106 passed, 0 failed, 1 skipped (the fork test, no RPC configured).
    • JSON parses with "kind": "univ4_hook" as the first field, only schema keys, lowercase address, numeric fee, tickSpacing and decimals, string initialPrice below 2^256.
    • git status shows launch.json as the only modified file.

  16. Audit judgeAgent #452found nothing

Review complete. The revision closes both blocking findings, and nothing new reproduces as a defect. The report is in .imd-findings.json with an empty findings list and 26 coverage rows. The tree is otherwise untouched; my scratch tests are removed.

    Settlement of the earlier findings

    • Return-bomb winner (high), fixed. The payout is now an assembly call with a 100,000 gas stipend and no return-data copy, and a failed call credits owed. My proof and all three specialists' proofs pass on this tree. The repository's own return-bomb, failsafe-bomb and payout-gas tests also pass.
    • Failsafe paying a certified nap's pot to a later buyer (medium), fixed. The failsafe now scans through the last seen frontier first, reverts when a readable backlog exceeds eight pages, and pays only what the settled naps leave. My proof passes: the nap winner receives the full 0.02 ETH and the later buyer only the fees after it.
    • Buy after the opening snipes the pot (low), fixed for the reported scenario. The winner is fixed by a cutoff, so a buy at or after the opening cannot win at that call. The rolling cutoff means a late buy becomes payable a week later if nobody calls the failsafe meanwhile. That matches rule 5's literal wording and is documented, so I did not raise it again.
    • Refund to tx.origin (low) and fee rounding (info), dropped. The author's dispute holds on both. The brief makes tx.origin the buyer, the ETH cannot be returned in-swap, and both choices are documented in the README.

    Verification this round

    • Full suite: 106 tests pass, one fork test skipped with no RPC, none fail.
    • Scratch checks: a failsafe that settles a nap and then finds nothing left reverts and keeps nothing, and settleNaps pays that nap afterwards, so no funds strand.
    • Manifest: constructor arguments and permissions match the source, fee 12500 is accepted, notes are 2,096 characters, deployed hook size is 17,389 bytes.

Every one of the 19 listed entry points is marked holds with its reason. There are no outstanding findings from me against this launch.

Saved the review in .imd-findings.json. Website files are unchanged.

    Three substantiated findings:

    • bug: mobile wallet selection hides discovered providers. At 390px with an iPhone user agent, an announced EIP-6963 wallet disappears unless it sets window.ethereum. Keep named providers in the mobile list. Source: web/src/Wallet.tsx:31.
    • bug: trade confirmation follows an account switch. Switching accounts during quote refresh caused the mock wallet to receive a 0.001 ETH send request from the new account without another review. Bind confirmation to the reviewed account and chain. Source: web/src/Trade.tsx:272.
    • bug: rejected network switching covers the headline. At 390px, the rejection banner obscures 26.2px of the title. Put the alert in the header’s normal layout flow. Source: web/src/styles.css:211.

Each finding includes an exact source excerpt, proposed change and concrete reproduction in the JSON.

The frontend requirement ledger follows. “Met” records implementation presence; the defects above qualify the wallet flows.

    • mediumbug: mobile wallet selection hides discovered EIP-6963 providersweb/src/Wallet.tsx:31

Now: On a phone, a wallet that announces an EIP-6963 provider without setting the legacy window.ethereum global is discovered by wagmi but filtered out of the wallet sheet. The sheet instead says its connection will appear when ready, although it never can.

Change to: Keep named injected connectors in the mobile list; hide only the generic undetected injected entry, for example .filter((c) => !mobile || c.type !== "injected" || c.id !== "injected").

Why: The mobile-first game needs a usable wallet connection before buying, selling or claiming; EIP-6963 discovery must not depend on the optional legacy global.

      390 × 844, Chromium.

Before navigation, use an iPhone user agent and leave window.ethereum undefined.

      Register eip6963:requestProvider to dispatch eip6963:announceProvider with info {uuid:"10c089e7-2a7b-40b5-9932-b52810322008",name:"Announced Wallet",icon:"data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%2F%3E",rdns:"test.announced.wallet"} and an EIP-1193 provider exposing request/on/removeListener (eth_accounts returns [], eth_chainId returns "0xaa36a7").

Load /preview/ and press Connect wallet.

Actual: zero Announced Wallet buttons; four Open in links and Coinbase Smart Wallet appear, followed by "Its connection appears when the wallet is ready."

Expected: an Announced Wallet connection button.

Repeat with the identical announced provider and desktop user agent at the same width: exactly one Announced Wallet button appears, proving provider discovery succeeded and the mobile filter removed it.

    • mediumbug: switching wallets during quote refresh carries confirmation into the new accountweb/src/Trade.tsx:272

Now: Confirm buy awaits a quote refresh before calling tx.run. If accountsChanged fires during that refresh, the review is cleared on screen, but the suspended handler continues. useTransaction then captures the newly connected account and requests a transaction from it using the previous account’s review.

Change to: Bind the trade review to its account and chain. After every awaited quote/allowance refresh, abort if either changed, clear the review and show "Wallet changed. Review this trade again." Keep the existing checks immediately before signing.

Why: Switching wallets must invalidate the original spending confirmation rather than transfer it to another account; the signing prompt must correspond to a review for the currently selected wallet.

390 × 844, Chromium, production /preview/ with the existing browser test RPC/EIP-6963 mocks; no real signing or broadcast.

Connect the initial mock account 0xd6259b2b92e60e85dd3cf0d82b41f25cb0147194 on Sepolia, leave buy at 0.001 ETH and use the test quote of 900 NAP.

      Click Review buy.

Hold the next quoteExactInputSingle HTTP response, then click Confirm buy.

While that response is held, change the provider’s eth_accounts result to ["0x2222222222222222222222222222222222222222"] and emit accountsChanged with that array.

Wait 500 ms so the header shows 0x2222…2222 and the review effect runs; release the quote response.

Actual: one eth_sendTransaction request has from=0x2222222222222222222222222222222222222222 and value=0x38d7ea4c68000 (0.001 ETH), without clicking Review buy or Confirm buy for that account.

Expected: zero send requests and a fresh review required.

The mock receipt subsequently shows "Transaction confirmed.", demonstrating that the old handler continued through submission.

    • mediumbug: a rejected network switch covers the headline with its errorweb/src/styles.css:211

Now: The persistent network-switch error is absolutely positioned at 90% of the header height, with z-index 2 and an opaque background. At phone width it paints over the first line of "Last buy before bedtime."

Change to: Put .header-error in the existing header’s normal flex flow: use position: static, flex-basis: 100% and margin: 0; remove its inset and z-index declarations, including the mobile inset override. Let the header grow and move the intro down by the alert’s height.

Why: A declined wallet request needs readable recovery feedback without obscuring the game’s title or other content.

Use the existing EIP-6963 browser mock to connect on Sepolia.

Emit chainChanged with "0x1", then make wallet_switchEthereumChain reject with {code:4001,message:"User rejected"}.

Click the header’s Switch to Sepolia button.

Actual: "Request declined in the wallet.

You can try again." remains in an opaque rectangle x=46, y=68.39, width=328, height=45.

The h1 starts at x=16, y=87.19, width=228, height=70.38; the alert covers 26.20px of its first line, visibly hiding most of "Last buy".

Expected: the alert occupies its own row and the full headline remains readable.
