Build a small, functional equipment-rental browser app in a NEW frontend repository, using Vite, React and TypeScript. Deliver source, a lockfile, a static production build, setup instructions and automated tests. This is a public, disposable testnet demonstration with an existing contract deployment. It must perform real wallet interactions, not simulate successful payments.

Use these existing deployments, without changing or redeploying contracts:

The journey:

  1. Display a clear TESTNET / mock tokens notice. Connect a browser wallet, including Rabby, with explicit user action. Show connected address, chain, token balance and available equipment. For this bounded demo focus on item 1, but read its actual existence, listing status, state and policy from the contract. Treat metadata as untrusted text, never executable HTML.
  2. Show the current deposit, cancellation fee and reservation expiry rules before approval/booking. The existing policy is expected to be a 50-token deposit, 5-token cancellation fee and 24-hour reservation window, but on-chain reads must determine the displayed values. Read token decimals; the deployed token has 6. All monetary calculations must use integer base units, never floating-point arithmetic.
  3. Read current ERC20 allowance on-chain, and request only the approval needed for this deposit, never an unlimited approval. Approval and reservation are separate wallet actions, with clear progress and receipt links. Explain that test ETH pays gas and mock tokens pay the deposit.
  4. Reserve with reserve(itemId, expectedPolicyId, clientRef). Preserve the policy the user accepted. If the quote changes, stop and require renewed acceptance. Use a nonzero random clientRef and retain the pending operation, reference and any transaction hash across reloads, scoped by chain, escrow and wallet. Disable duplicate submissions while pending. Before retrying an uncertain reservation, resolve its receipt and reservationByRef; do not silently generate a new reference and pay again.
  5. Display the resulting reservation ID, status, and accepted terms from getReservation, not from the item's current policy. Recover this booking after refresh. Also provide reservation-ID lookup with clear ownership information; do not claim local browser storage is complete account history.
  6. Allow the renter to cancel a reservation only when its current on-chain state and expiry permit it. After confirmed cancellation, display refundCreditOf and offer a separate withdrawRefund action. Cancellation creates a credit; do not describe it as money already returned to the wallet. Read the current refund credit before withdrawal because it may include other reservations. Refresh balances, availability and reservation state after each confirmed action.

Handle disconnected wallets, wrong network, account/chain changes, insufficient balances, rejected signatures, reverted/replaced transactions, unavailable RPC and delayed receipts. Do not show success until a successful receipt is observed; make confirmation state explicit. Clear account-specific displayed state when the account changes. Revalidate chain, account, quote and applicable contract state before each write. An unavailable RPC must produce an honest error/retry state, never fake data or a false payment success.

Keep this task bounded:

  • Frontend only. Read directly from the public chain and send writes through the user's wallet. There is no public backend URL for this task. Do not create a backend, indexer, database, authentication service or new contracts, and do not require access to any private repository or hosting account.
  • No admin/staff operations, fee collection, token minting, real payments or production-network support in this version.
  • No private keys, recovery phrases, server credentials or signing secrets. Workers must not transact against the live testnet contracts. Automated wallet/write tests must use mocks or an isolated local chain; public testnet reads are allowed.
  • Public frontend configuration may contain only public network/contract information. Never put a secret in a VITE variable or bundle.

Provide meaningful automated tests for booking/cancel/refund state transitions, 6-decimal amounts, exact approvals, changed-policy acceptance, duplicate clicks, pending-operation recovery after reload, rejected/reverted transactions, wrong-chain/account changes and RPC failure. Include a reproducible browser smoke test with a mocked injected wallet and mocked RPC, covering the complete journey. Report commands and actual results, clearly distinguishing mocked/local tests from any live read-only checks.

Use a simple readable responsive interface with explicit loading/error/pending states. Include a README with exact install/build/test commands, static-hosting instructions, ABI provenance, limitations and a short manual Rabby acceptance checklist. Do not claim backend integration or production readiness.

  2. Build websiteAgent #34165 files changed

Built the app, source, lockfile and static export in dist/.

Passed typecheck, production build, 64 tests, full ABI verification and four mocked browser scenarios. Live checks were read-only; manual Rabby remains untested. Bundle: 1.19 MB.

Setup is in README.md; design coverage, results and limitations are in artifacts/validation.md.

Not delivered: artifacts/browser-results.json, artifacts/design-probe.json, artifacts/live-read.json, artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

  3. Design criticAgent #1457found 1 medium, 2 low

I reviewed the build and wrote 3 findings to .imd-findings.json. None is high. The dapp itself is solid: it uses the brief's chain, RPC, explorer and both contract addresses, the reserve/cancel/withdraw logic matches the contract source, and the 64 unit tests and the mocked browser smoke test all pass. The worst problem is that the smoke test crashes on a fresh copy of the repository.

    • mediumbug: the browser smoke test exits 1 on a clean checkout because artifacts/ is missing, and the README cites artifact files that are not in the treetests/browser/smoke.mjs:212

Now: smoke.mjs creates only the screenshots folder (line 27). It then writes artifacts/browser-results.json, but no artifacts/ directory is in the repository. On a fresh clone, npm run test:browser runs all four mocked scenarios and then crashes with ENOENT (exit 1).

README lines 98, 99 and 121 also point at artifacts/validation.md, artifacts/design-probe.json and artifacts/live-read.json, and none of them exist.

Change to: add await mkdir('artifacts', { recursive: true }); before line 212, next to the existing mkdir at line 27. Either commit the three files the README cites or change README lines 98-99 and 121 to state the results inline.

Why: the brief asks for 'a reproducible browser smoke test with a mocked injected wallet and mocked RPC' and asks to 'Report commands and actual results'. A command that fails on a clean checkout, and results that point at missing files, cannot be reproduced or checked.

      Width n/a.

Steps: copy the tracked files to /tmp/rv, run npm ci, then IMD_PLAYWRIGHT=<playwright>/index.mjs node tests/browser/smoke.mjs.

Actual: 'Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open 'artifacts/browser-results.json'' at smoke.mjs:212:3, exit 1.

After mkdir artifacts the same command exits 0 and reports 4 scenario groups with passed: true. ls artifacts in the repository root gives 'No such file or directory'.

    • lowtaste: at 390 the refund placeholder 'Connect to view' is set in 32px display type, the same size as the page h1src/style.css:131

Now: below 680px, h1 'Equipment rental' is 32px/600 (style.css line 183). .credit-value is also 32px/600, so the status text 'Connect to view' in the Refund credit section reads as a second page headline, and it is larger than its own h2 'Refund credit' (18px).

Change to: keep 32px only for a real amount. When data?.credit is undefined (App.tsx line 122), render the placeholder with the existing .muted class at 16px, e.g. give the div className={credit-value ${data?.credit === undefined ? 'muted small' : ''}} and add .credit-value.small { font-size: 16px; }.

Why: the headline stays the largest and heaviest type on the page. A state message is not a figure.

      Width 390.

Load dist/index.html without a wallet and scroll to 'Refund credit'.

Evidence: test/scratch/taste/shots/390-full.png shows 'Connect to view' at the same visual size as 'Equipment rental'.

      The computed font-size of both h1 and .credit-value is 32px (style.css lines 131 and 183).

    • lowtaste: the in-page actions 'Reserve item 1' and 'Withdraw refund credit' carry the ↗ external-link arrowsrc/App.tsx:125

Now: the page uses ↗ for links that open the explorer in a new tab ('Robinhood Chain Testnet ↗', 'View receipt ↗'). The same glyph also sits on two buttons that act in the page: Withdraw refund credit (line 125) and Reserve item 1 (line 97).

Change to: delete <span aria-hidden="true">↗</span> from both buttons. The label stays centred in the same button.

Why: one symbol should mean one thing. Here ↗ means both 'opens the explorer' and 'sends a wallet transaction', so a visitor cannot tell which buttons leave the page.

      Width 390.

Load the page without a wallet.

Evidence: 390-full.png shows 'Withdraw refund credit ↗' as a button next to the 'Robinhood Chain Testnet ↗' explorer link.

App.tsx line 97 renders 'Reserve item 1↗' in the same way.
